Syfy Has Chosen The Actress Who Will Play Hot FBI Girl Audrey Parker In Its New Superpeople Thriller HAVEN!!

Published at:  Feb 05, 2010 12:40:56 AM CST

I am – Hercules!!

Emily Rose, who played the duplicitous Cass on “John From Cincinnati,” the helpful Jennings & Rall employee Trish on “Jericho” and latter-day County General intern Tracy on “ER,” will now play FBI special agent Audrey Parker on Syfy’s new sci-fi series “Haven.”

The “Twin Peaks”-like series will follow Parker as she investigates a murder in a small Maine town teeming with people in possession of secret superpowers.

Five writers who worked on USA’s “The Dead Zone” -- Scott Shepherd, Lloyd Segan, Shawn Piller, Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn – are working on the series.

Like “Dead Zone,” “Haven” is allegedly based on a work by Stephen King, in this case the the novella “The Colorado Kid,” but I’m candidly puzzled as to how that can be since “Kid” contains no FBI girl or superpowered people.

Here again are conflicting descriptions.

“Colorado Kid” (via Publisher’s Weekly):

Fresh out of journalism school, Stephanie McCann is an intern at a weekly newspaper in an obscure corner off the coast of Maine. She is writing homey features and reporting on trivial stories, but she rather enjoys it. Then a big-city reporter comes to town to gather stories about "unsolved mysteries." The paper's owner and the managing editor send him away unsatisfied, and then tell Stephanie the only real unsolved mystery on the island.

“Haven” (via the press release):

Deep in the heart of Maine, Haven is a town where people with supernatural abilities have migrated for generations because it mutes their powers, allowing them to lead normal lives. At least, until recently. When hot-shot FBI agent Audrey Parker is called to Haven to solve the murder of a local ex-con, she catches the killer but uncovers a much deeper mystery about this town. Each week, as the town-peoples’ dormant powers begin to express themselves, Audrey will try to keep these supernatural forces at bay while unraveling the many mysteries of Haven – including one surrounding her own surprising past in this extraordinary place.

    Set in Maine, therefore...

... must be based on a Stephen King story.
Speaking of which, are the making series/movies of "Cell" or "Under the Dome"? I thought I heard something about "Cell"...

    by frakthetoasters

That has to be it! IT's a new program-club where teens can see what it's like to be an FBI agent, solve a mystery like one of those murder-dinner parties, and dress like Scully, Clarice or Olivia Dunham. Oh, wait they all have the same wardrobe...?

    Is it a requirement...

    by juemad

... that all FBI agents in genre TV be female nowadays? It would actually be a novelty to see a male FBI agent.

Juemad. It's because it's Mainstream TV

    by sisterspooky

It's tried and tested, the masses love it. It's become almost Cop procedural to have a female Cop/detective/FBI/CIA. Hollywood nowadays cannot tell a story with it being a Cop. Also a female too. Think CSI needs plenty of women helps get both genders on board when you have both male/female.
