Wanna See THE WOLFMAN this Monday At A Very Special AICN/FANTASTIC FEST screening at ALAMO SOUTH? Out Of Tickets! List Here!!
Hey folks, Harry here with the details on our screening of the brand new take on THE WOLFMAN!!! And there's some pretty darn cool things going on with this screening. First, we have lead producer, Scott Stuber stopping in to chat with us about THE WOLF MAN and answer any questions you may have about the film... We might have some treats for y'all - but best of all... One of the Alamo's culinary wizards has whipped up a delicious treat that will be complimentary to all attendees.
-Blackmoor skewers w/ blood sauce & lunar phase bits. (aka the Lamb Skewers w/ red sauce and english cheese)
-Moon Pies (aka desert)
The Silver Bullet (aka Coors Light)
For killing werewolves, of course! Crack one open and take aim!
Full Moon Pale Rye
From the Real Ale brewing company, this tawny red colored beer is full of malt and hops, resulting in an assertive American amber ale.
Blue Moon Wheat
Unfiltered Belgian-style wheat ale spiced with fresh coriander and orange peel for a unique taste and smooth finish.
You get the Lamb, Moon pie and choice of two beers FREE!!! want more than 2 beers? Bring some money, which you should anyway. Getting a free meal, be sure to Tip the waiters & waitresses - They're working hard to serve you!
Now when is all this happening?
This Monday, February 8th, 2010 at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar at 7:30pm.
Now with a screening like this we want to ensure that every last seat is filled - so I'm going to pick 300 winners - although we only have 220 seats, so I recommend getting to the theater no later than 6:30pm - and remember this is first come first serve. AND in case more folks have last minute cancellations - we will have a Standby line, just in case.
SO - how do you get in?
Well, you can't anymore, unless you just show up and pray in the standby line. This filled up so quickly!

Let me have finally gotten in!
-
Do it for the children Harry!
-
I really can't wait to see this movie. <p>Also, I love those fucking moon pies. Had one when I went to see DR. PARNASSUS last week. Delicious.
-
It's an actual beer from Real Ale in Blanco: Real Ale Full Moon Pale Rye Ale. One of my favorites on the menu.
-
It's like traditional Moon Pies, but more delicious. It's a chocolate cake with marshmallow/vanilla cream filling. Lemon and raspberry garnishing top it off. In fact, I'm having another tonight when I see MY SON MY SON WHAT HAVE YE DONE?
-
hope I get in to this one!
-
Thanks, that sounds phenomenal!!
-
I sent my name in as soon as this thing was posted. How did I not get in?!
-
You Knowleseseseseses family members sure are good at these contests. Especially Harry. I think he wins just about every time. What's your secret, Big Red? Heehee Hoohoo!!!
-
made it!!! yeaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!
-
THEY SHOW TOO MUCH TITS AND ASS AND ITS DEGRADING TO WOMEN!
-
I'm a lifelong Horror fan and I can't be bothered to see this problem plagued, uninspired wank. You know, Joe Johnston isn't a bad Director, it's just that there's no spark to his work and the idea of him making a large scale Gothic Horror movie just doesn't do anything for me. If this movie was going to be loaded with ultraviolence and graphic sex then I'd already have my ticket but I suspect that it will be pretty tame. Not to mention that they fucked over Rick Baker which also puts this movie on my shitlist.
-
I bet there'll be more than just a few. At the Drag Me to Hell screening over the summer he way overbooked and the theater was barely half full. I encourage folks to step into the standby line.
-
Wanna see the movie NOW :'(
-
...TehCreepyThinMan. they should have stopped making gothic horror films at the end of the 70's.
-
Why don't these AICN/Fantastic Fest things get posted on the Fantastic Fest facebook or FF blog?
-
There was a delay with final info that necessitated posting in case it was slow to fill up, but that wasn't a problem this time. It filled up extraordinarily quickly.

billyhitchcock1, THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH GOTHIC HORROR......
by TehCreepyThinMan
I actually love Gothic Horror, Bram Stokers Dracula and Interview with the Vampire being two very good examples, but The Wolfman needed a Director who has proven himself to be good at period Horror. My first two choice's would have been Tom Tykwer (Perfume : The Story of a Murderer) or Christophe Gans (Silent Hill).

Is no one concerned that there have been no reviews?
by MonkeyManReturns
No reviews at all!!! Not one! Is that not a bad sign for a movie coming out in a few days??
-
and Knowles is one of the very first - lucky basterd!. Have big hopes for this.

I'd like to take my woohoo from earlier back. I made the "list" and did exactly as Harry said and showed up an hour early(as i've done for every free screening Harry has been kind enough to let me attend). When i arrived the very kind staff at the Alamo informed us that the seating was full but we could sit in a standby line and that we would most likely be seated. There was a girl there who was absolutely furious. Apparently she was listed fairly early in the numbered list above. After about a minute or two of sitting there some studio guy (i'm assuming because he definitely didn't work for the drafthouse)informed us that there would be NO other seats as the rest were for "VIPs who are still milling about" and then offered us a coupons to see the movie tomorrow at the Galaxy (!?!). Gotta say i was incredibly disappointed. My roommate is incredibly pissed as he took a day off of work to see this. I know bitching about a free ticket doesnt rank that high on the getting screwed over scale but still it was kinda lame. I suppose Harry did say "first come first serve" but i took it to mean the usual get-yr-email-in-now way, not get here 3 hours before the movie starts. Kinda lame
-
sorry to hear you couldn't get in. that sucks. would have been a great one to get in to see with that kind of crowd.
-
yea it sucks but mostly im just confused as to why it was so different from all the other events harry's put on. that and totally bummed i didn't get to the movie.
-
heh...?
-
no one was very enthusiastic...the post-screening was very awkward. i doubt harry will review this film because he won't want to shit on it after being given a set visit, this special screening, etc. maybe he found something redeeming in there somewhere, though...time will tell.
-
In which they all pretend it's "not so bad." I TOLD YOU FUCKERS THE SCIRPT WAS CRAP A YEAR AGO AND YOU CONTINUE TO OVERPROMOTE IT JUST LIKE ADAM GREEN, PRETENDING SHIT IS NOT SHIT. ENCOURAGING THE SPIRIT OF CLASSIC OR INDEPENDENT HORROR DOES NOT EXCUSE CODDLING SHITTY FILMS AND SHITTY FILMMAKERS, AICN, AND I'M LOOKING AT ALL OF THE REVIEWERS. DO NOT PRETEND THIS PICTURE IS GOOD.
-
Saw it this afternoon at an advance screening at Cineworld (UK). It's actually good. The Wolf Man (1941) is one of my all time favourite pictures, so I was very relieved that this remake turned out to be okay, and that it's generally respectful of its illustrious predecessor. It's well acted, well paced, and wonderfully gory. Got an effective brooding, gothic tone throughout, too. And of course, Rick Baker's makeup design is amazing. One of the few decent remakes that the film studios have been churning out lately.
-
It was shit.
-
the movie is literally stitched together and you can tell it's been edited and re-edited and re-re-edited, but it looks great and has a real old-fashioned Universal or Hammer films vibe to it. With all the problems, I'm amazed it ended up this good.
