* CBS’ Grammys garnered nearly 26 million viewers, the most in six years.

* ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” and “Brothers & Sisters” both hit new all-time lows. Another sign the era of shitty ABC dramedies is drawing to a close.

* Fox’s “Family Guy,” “Cleveland Show” and “Simpsons” all hit season lows.

* I was going to say maybe CBS should consider a Grammy red-carpet show instead of “60 Minutes,” but then I noticed “60 Minutes” beat the Pro Bowl and “Desperate” (and everything else except the Grammys that night) in total viewers.

* ESPN’s Pro Bowl game did worse than any Sunday primetime NFL game on NBC, CBS or Fox this season.

* SNL’s Sunday sports-themed primetime clip show was a shadow of the SNL Gilly Christmas special, which scored 3.1. It also did worse than this autumn’s three live SNL Thursday half-hours, which scored between 1.7 and 2.0 in 18-49.

James Hibberd’s analysis is here.

    by shermdawg

Well of course it did. IT'S THE PRO BOWL.

    Also, regarding ABC's Sunday lineup...

    by shermdawg

...they weren't they up against the Saints/Vikings game last week? The Grammys this week? Isn't it understandable they'd under perform in those circumstances?

Isn't it obvious that many shows took a hit

    by v'shael

because they had had weeks of repeats, and then came back while the Grammies were on?

Family Guy, Simpsons, Cleveland etc... will be back to their usual ratings next episode. Just wait and see.

    Grammy's were actually good

    by flandersbum

I can't even stand most of the performers. Or the concept of rich, elitist 'better than you' artists getting together to congratulate themselves by throwing a party in which the total value of the crap in the free goodie bags is more than the average household income in this country. But I have to admit most of the performaces were pretty good, aside from the Black Eyed Peas which have yet to demonstrate any substantial talent to me.

    Better Lady GaGa

    by frozen01

than most of the other crap out there. While I don't exactly have any of her music on the 'Pod, she's much more of a legitimate entertainer than the hundreds of interchangable R&B and pop "musicians" who all sound the same... give it a beat you can dance to, and people will flock, apparently.

    The Grammys were garbage...

    by karl childers

I don't even know why I bother watching them.
That Popeye-thighed Beyonce has to be the most overrated entertainer of the past decade.

The Black Eyed Peas are just awful.

Taylor Swift can't even carry a tune in a bucket.

The camera kept panning on the equally overrated Jay Z like he's the king of all music.

I couldn't even tell you who won what and I don't even care to know.

No wonder nobody buys records anymore.

    Gaga

    by ssquirrel

can actually play her instrument quite well, which is more than can be said for most pop starlets. She's written lots of music for other people before she released her first album as well. The Elton duet makes sense and her outfit clearly showed a love of 70s glam. Agreed that Beyonce is worthless.

To be fair, Jamie Lee Curtis looked totally female in that topless scene in Trading Places. Never looked better, in my opinion. :)

ltoandando if you think lady gaga will be around in 5 years

    by slappy jones

and still be as popular as she is right now you are incredibly misguided. i don't love her nor do i hate her but its the disposable age we are in right now. she is having her moment and thats all people get now.

    by karl childers

I'm not a fan, but I can see the talent. She writes her own tunes, can actually play instruments, she can dance, and she has quite an imagination when it comes to production whether onstage or appearing in such outrageous outfits at events. You might say she's the "new Madonna" in that respect but with better vocals.

Lady Gaga use to be a normal NYC musician

    by mgthedj

There are clips surfacing of her on various MTV reality shows from 2000-2006 were she was trying to get some free publicity. She then went to the totally marketing ploy of embracing the NYC Gay community, specifically as shown in the movie "24 Hour Party People." That broke her out of being just another Sara Barillias (or whatever) and Colbie Callie. She also embraced the NYC style of a "Wall of Sound." Lots of overdubs and multipart harmonies. Her stuff does not sound like a demo put together in 2 hours.Whether she last more than 5 years will depend on if she stays mostly sober and continues to write good songs.------later-----m

I have to go back and watch that b/c she isn't listed in the credits as her real name (she wasn't going as Gaga until 2005). Also, PM is a period piece about the late 80s-mid 90's. Marilyn Manson makes an amusing appearance as a cross dresser tho.
