ONG BAK 3 trailer hits!
Hey folks, Harry here with the latest look at Muay Thai badassness by way of Tony Jaa. As an experiment last night I watched ONG BAK 2 dubbed... just to see how it contrasted to watching it in its native Thai. Wow. ONG BAK 2 completely falls apart in dubbed form, so... when the BLU RAY hits via Magnolia - whatever you do, switch to Thai with English Subtitles - the experiences are NIGHT & DAY. With ONG BAK 2, we were introduced to what could very well be our first KARMIC TRILOGY. I didn't really grok that with the first film, but with the second - you can tell that this is a story that spans time, but has souls trapped in eternal conflict and struggle between good and evil. And Good will not always win - and I have to say - the mere notion of a Karmic hero that has to struggle against a similar enemy in life time after life time... well, it is kinda like MARIO & LUIGI, but instead of Princess saving plumbers - it's Muay Thai Elephant loving badassery. And now we have a look at Part 3:

So instead of jumping over cars he jumping elephants?!
by hollywoodhellraiser
I hope cow-tipping is next!I understand what Tony is doing but this seems it'll be just like Ong Bak 2!
-
Everyone bitched about the ending pf Ong Bak 2, but its basically a Kill Bill part 1 and 2 kinda deal, its all just one big movie.
-
At least not from that trailer...
-
It fell apart in native thai also.
-
You need a tall ladder then the elephant moves...
-
The Protector was too repetitive, reusing the same two moves practically the entire movie. I'll grant that the one take shot was excellent, and it had its moments, but I really liked how Ong Bak through in all this incredible weapon combat, as well as mixing in different fighting styles like Kung Fu.
-
Ong Bak 3: More Vengeancelooks cool. I never get tired of watching Jaa beat ass. I aint watching these for the plot.
-
is the same in every movie. And the dialogue is really only a buffer inbetween the action and stunts, which is why we watch these movies. And wasn't the Protector really just an Ong Bak movie anyway?
-
I like watching Jaa break bones, but his work is very samey.

-
how else would I know that guys name was Dirty Balls.
-
Seriously, it sounds gay, stop saying it.
-
onk bak 2 was ALMOST a good movie, but fell apart. he shouldve fought with a staff or spear more. that was the best part.
-
"it sounds gay." like some fruit got hold of a bad piece of ass?"I had Tyler last night and man was that bad ass! I mean really...rinse that thing out once in awhile!"
-
exactly!!
-
after a curry.
Still i've always prefered the term "hard case" over badass. Nut case is also acceptable.
-
He'd parked his elephant in the disabled parking space of my local supermarket. I told Tony that it was wrong, we had an argument and we ended up having a full on fight. After i punched him a few times, he fell on his knees and said he was sorry. He's really not as tough as he looks.
-
I think it might be that it makes the violence more fantasy-like and less interesting. Also, it always is in some random clearing in the middle of the jungle. If he's so hot on doing a period piece, have him do a film set in Bangkok during the 80's. I don't know what you'd call it though...
-
I have seen only this trailer, less than two minutes of film, but these are some of the most unique looking action sequences I have seen.
I mean, to incorporate an elephant, and the use of those knees and elbows, just pure badass. Unbelievable. -
Sully prick much? Now fuck off.
-
You an tell it was make by a newbie director.
-
it was one of the most intense, exhilarating experiences i've ever had. but I guess everything is when shrooming. can't say I remember a thing about it though.
-
ONG BAK 2 wasn't the greatest, but at least Jaa is doing things the way they should be done; old school. be interesting if he could make it in the West. Lord knows that Jackie Chan and Jet Li never really got there (though DANNY THE DOG/UNLEASHED came close)...
-
1. ja is badass 2. best part of protector was the elephant throw, never laughed so hard at such a ridiculous moment 3. just seen Black Dynamite last night, can we get MjW to star in a buddy cop kung fu movie in style of BD wit Jaa?
-
Imagine Jaa doing the physical stunts with enhanced cg. Wow.
-
...it's not even on IMDB, so does it exist? If Tony Jaa punches you in the face in the woods, do the trees care?
-
not terribly excited though
-
That was pretty fucking EPIC I have to say.
-
They musta used an intern for the sfx

Some life you have, combing through six talkbacks simultaneously. Seriously numbnuts, I'd hate to break it to you, but just one of your crass, uneducated, toilet-mouth rants equals about ten of so-called "billboard" posts haha. And then you say filth like "fuck you and everyone that looks like you"? That I should "go blow tomcruise1"? You, my putzy, schmucky friend, are the problem. Just one classless rube in dire need of some sophistication, a girlfriend, and a good kick in the pants -- assuming you ever get away from that computer of yours, lonelyheartsclub452. Buzz off.
-
To the talkback board, I apologize for posting one link three times. It was an accident, but would love it if you guys checked out our blog.
To MacReady452, wow pal, someone really needs to get a life. -
As for me being a "worthless kind of turd" with "no opinion, no contribution, just my own agenda", take a read of this if your vocabulary is deft enough to allow you: http://www.aintitcool.com/?q=node/38299
It is probably more than you have ever contributed to this site, besides one of your pathetic, petty, laughable fits. -
I'm hear to check out movie news and find out what other people think about cinema and I'm here ALL THE TIME cause I like movies. I'm NOT here to promote myself with no other reason. So CM1986, what did you think of Ong Bak or the upcoming film, or The Protector, or Tony Jaa or martial arts or ANYTHING AT ALL?I'm done drawing attention to you.Your apology to the board was great too. Your just apologizing for the wrong thing. You should apologize for clogging this up with uselessness. There, no swearing necessary.
-
way to annoy the shit out of everyone; you're as bad as pop-ups
-
The Protector had so many more set pieces. The one take going up the building scene. I think people may I have died filming that scene. Then the scene with the Brazilian break dance fighters in the watery room with fire. Then the first encounter with the big bald dude. Then comes the scene where he fights a wave of more than a hundred guys breaking each of their bones, making that matrix reloaded cg shit with agent smith clones, look like a joke! then he fights the blad guy and like 3 more big guys. A guy picks up a baby elephant and throw it! a baby elephant! yo!!! Then he breaks the bones of all those guys and defeats the big bald guy with elephant bones! yo! elephant bones! ahh!
-
In the protector. holy shiznit! that is da bomb! waah! sorry i was just doin my aziz ansari impression all this time.
-
This martial arts guy told me that the movie was originally designed to play out like a video game. Because of Jaa's mass appeal in Tailand they built the synergy into the concept of the movie right from go. They new that they would market all kinds of shit to this movie and a companion video game was in the works.I was reading your "set piece breakdown" and it was never more clear. It ramps up continuously. Fighting with the bones strapped to him was my favorite.
-
but bodyguards and assasins comes out on bluray febuary 8 with donnie yen. thats the ticket
-
This looks awesome! Hope George aka Hum Lae is in this one!
-
Rubbish film.
-
But badass nonetheless.
-
You tell him!
I'm an annoying fucker at he best of times. It's in my nature:-). But at least I talk about movies & don't spam people with website shit.
Well said, Sir!
Oh & I didn't care for Ong Bak 2. I thought the first was cool, maybe for the novelty of discovering Tony Jaa for the first time. The second was a mess. -
I'm a sucker for Tony Jaa so I'm excited for this. All of his films suffer from poor editing and in most cases outside of the fighting, the directing is pretty weak too. Nonetheless, I've never been disappointed by this guy.
Also, LOL @ "Dirty Balls". I totally watched that sub the first time I saw Ong Bak. Luckily my Thai friend translated it for me and explained the culture status thing for me. -
You get it!
-
Cool.
-
Give him some real money and actors to play with. The guy would be a superstar.
-
Expectation: Ong and Summer riding off into the sunset on an elephant
Reality: Some other dude and Summer riding off in an Audi A5 -
Human, NO WAY do I want Tony Jaa to come here. For what? So American Producers and Jack-off directors like Brett Ratner can tell Tony Jaa what to do, that he should trust their judgement, so they can lukewarm his ass over like they did to Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Chow Yun Fat? Chow went back to China and has what looks like an amazing Confucius movie coming out, Jet Li had the Warlords, but came back for Expendables, and Jackie is content to do kiddie movies here for Americans who have no idea as to the badassery of his older HK flix (which means he isn't doing it for you fine folks here) and saving his kick ass stuff for HK: Chinese Zodiac, Shaolin, and Little Big Soldier. Tony, stay your ass the fuck over there. You'll be happier for it. And so will we.
-
does not use wire fu. I don't care the plot anymore, I'm just glad we've got Tony Jaa and the VERY few like him who create this level of quality action scenes without CGI and/or wires. Plot might not be all that great, but for the moment I'll take ANYTHING. I wish these films would inspire more acrobats/martial artists to do the same--a host of films like this is what action fans need. Then, AFTER the dust has settled, let's put some decent plot into these things, please.
-
Ong Bak 2 is an exhilarating mess like all the rest of his movies. I look forward to seeing this.
-
Of-course you're right. Chow made Hard Boiled and The Killer over there.
Here he made Pirates of the Carri fucking Bean!
-
It's funny to see how guys keep thinking Tony Jaa is best thing ever. I hope you guys are Thai or something because I'll excuse your naivete about Hollywood. You're mocking Jackie Chan and Jet Li? The same reason why they didn't make it huge beyond cult fans is the same reason why Tony Jaa ain't gonna make it in Hollywood. You can guess why? Does Tony Jaa speak a word of English? And you think he can carry a Hollywood movie on his own? Then some of you in the past have said he's better than Bruce Lee? Nobody outside Thailand is gonna know who Tony Jaa is 50 years from now. Let me give you another reason wy he'll never make it in Hollywood. The movies he's "good" at doing center on his heritage. He's going to be a fish out of water in Hollywood and they'll give him a one-dimensional role because they aren't going to make a big Hollywood action movie that doesn't star a Westerner first. So go on and believe Tony Jaa is going to be big in Hollywood. Isn't he supposedly a big star in his world right now? Why hasn't Hollywood been knocking on his door already?
-
and Scottadkinsfist is right about Jaa in America. That would suck nuts. The Dark Shite, I think you can see that we are kindred annoying fuckers:)Orionsangels gets it. Internet fist bump.
-
No one wants him to come here. That is the point. Your beloved Hollywood would rape the fuck out of everything that makes Jaa good.He is directing, has control and is a Megastar in the East.Put down the cheeseburger and turn down the country music and realize that some things are better without America.
-
movies without them. In fact the best original films are coming from overseas outside of hollywood. Now Hollywood is starting to remake foreign films because their to scared try something original. Hollywood has no balls, they never take chances anymore. Foreign movies are the only movies where you will see something original anymore
-
Tony Jaa KNEES someone in the face. It's his trademark.Flaming knee, flying up to helicopter knee, elephant knee... is there any knee Jaa can't do?

When Harry was talking about Elephant Love was he talking about what he does in bed?
-
...really? smh, what the hell people.
-
Huh. Btw, Jeeja Yanin > Tony Jaa. Chocolate was WAY better than Ong Bak.
-
More crazy Tony Jaa is always a good thing.Chocolate is good too, but it's still no crazy Tony Jaa. The outtakes on the stunts far more crazy than the Chocolate movie. Ouch!
-
um I don't like Tony Jaa anymores.
-
Steven Seagal dies.
-
This sequel is like,' well...'
-
A lot cooler. Ain't it?
-
Wasn't Rambo in Thailand in the last one ? Maybe Tony Jaa could play a local Thai militia warrior who trails him back to America, for decimating his group or something. Then it'd be like Rambo Parts 1 & 2 combined. MAKE IT HAPPEN !!!!
-

Chocolate was great, but Ong Bak was outfuckingstanding
by toadkillerdog
No hate at all of Chocolate, that girl kicked major ass, but she looked like a a heavily choreographed dancer at times - compared to Tony Jaa that is. Ong Bak was ferocious, and nobody, I mean nobody hates left arms and ribs cages more than Tony Jaa! He breaks the left arms and rib cages of more people than any man alive!
-
to be honest, i rank ong bak in my top 3 films of all time. the reason, not only was it fucking awesome, but it forever changed the way i thought about fighting. its not like i really fight at all, but now i know if i had to knees and elbows are the way to go most of the time, and i started practicing muai thai type stuff instead of just punches and kicks. not many movies are supercool and also change my life like that. its probably been mentioned but tony jaa grew up on an elephant ranch which is why he loves them. tony jaa is my favorite movie star and i hope he is in more great movies.
-
I hate trampolines.
-
It was... interesting. The fights were awesome but holy shit I couldn't make sense of hardly anything in that movie. Maybe it was because a combination of the small seat screen, the crappy headphones they gave me, or constantly being interrupted by announcements, friends, food, liquor, and drifts out of consciousness. The fights were appropriately badass though.
-
Why waste time with any Ong Baks? Tony Jaa is great, but put him in something coherent. Spend your time with District B13, Ip Man, Dragon Tiger Gate, something with some merit.
-
What is it with this lard ass? Its not like he's got the hardest job in the world yet he still hardly reviews anything? Has he reviewed The Road or Sherlock Holmes? I think not or if he has i aint fuckin read them. Just looking at the huge gaps of time between his reviews and then all of sudden he'll give us some glowing review for some comic book animated movie at the expense of real movies people are paying to see and come on this site to read what he's gotta say about it, although saying that, a lot of his reviews these days are ass kissing pieces which are nothin but bullshit. hmmmmm i kinda feel better now having got that out of my system.
-
And add Killzone. But there is always room for no-plot-ass-kicking movies. Tony Jaa fills the role quite nicely. And B13 is quite silly as well.I did not like Dragon Tiger Gate..not into those fantasy type martial arts flicks.
-
Why bother making more Ong Bak films, if the stories you come up with are lame? Why not make new Muay Thai fighting films that aren't called Ong Bak?
-
a bit more interesting than ong-bak, I'd say...
http://screencrave.com/2010-02-01/cemetery-junction-trailer/ -
The only place where I hear about Tony Jaa is in this website. No matter how delusional you think the greatness of Tony Jaa is... where's his box office success? Ong Bak 1 got a lot of publicity on this forum but the box office was bad. So by the real definition of success, he's nowhere. Steven Seagal is an international superstar compared to Tony Jaa. BTW, Tony Jaa directing doesn't make hime successful. Is it a Hollywood movie he's directing? No it's a Thai movie, right?
-
Primrata Detudom was hot as Pim, his childhood girlfriend turned dancer chick. Can't wait to see her in this too. As for Tony Ja, he is today's best martial artist and I would love to see him in just about anything he does.
-
So your saying the only basis for success is whether or not your in Hollywood or that you have box office success here? That has got to be-no is- the dumbest thing I think I've ever heard in these TB's. Tony Jaa is a far bigger success internationally than Seagal ever was. And getting enough clout to direct yourself and call your own shots IS a big deal for anyone, regardless of what country you come from. Tony's movies have done well all over the world. As for only hearing about it here, I suggest you check in with Entertainment Weekly, Chud, Twitch, IGN, Vern, and just about everyone else. Mac had it exactly right. I'm sure there's a Steven Seagal or Chuck Norris talkback you can post on...circa 1995.
-
hahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahah. What drugs are you on? God I need to score that. Box office and Hollywood clout have NOTHING to do with Jaa being one of the most incredible action stars to hit the screen in the past ten years. Seagal is a a fuckin podunk cop on A and fuckin E! Jaa is coming out with the 3rd installment of a movie series.
-
Seriously Miss Hellking? Where's his box office success? "Steven Seagal is an international superstar compared to Tony Jaa."?!? I think I finally met my first female troll on the AICN TB boards. I guess it was bound to happen one day. How do I know you are a Lady Troll? You use terms like "Ong Bak 1". And you don't know things like how the Asian cinema market as a whole is providing some of the most important and fascinating films of the modern day. In all genres! And by the way, Tony Jaa's Ong Bak was the highest grossing movie in Thai history when it was released. Of course I am sure your will have a great comment about the whole country now. Looking forward to your next inane post - sincerely.
-
What exactly is your point? I find Tony Jaa to be quite awesome (FLAMING LEG KICK), and could give a fuck what his box office performance is, at least as long as it is good enough for him to keep making movies. And also that he doesn't go into the deep end cause the boy ain't right in the head. The fat pony tailed one made some good movies early on in his career, but boy do his movies blow now. They are amusing, but that's it.
-
So, by that same logic, all of Jet Li's Chinese releases were shit too? The US audience has mostly never seen any of them so by Hollywood standards they never made money.
-
Feb 01, 2010 3:42:12 PM CST
FRIEND, IF YOU DON'T THINK ELEPHANT-ASSISTED FIGHTING
by bringingsexyback
set in the streets of a major American city will do well in the box office, you have no freaking idea what makes a good movie.
-
You guys are the ones mocking Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Tell everyone what has Tony Jaa done to beat them? Absolutely nothing. nytrash, was I defending Jet Li for you to show me how much a failure he is. Read my first post. Sorry to tell you but at least Jet Li does have a big American movie on his belt he carried on his own. Remember Romeo must Die? Not a good movie but it made a lot a money for a movie that size. And I love how you drooling Tony Jaa fans forget you're the ones waiting for him to make it big in Hollywood and when I give you the facts all of the sudden you give your finger to Hollywood. That's the kind of fickled thinking why Tony Jaa won't make it big in Hollywood.
-
He really hates left little toes too!
-
That is the whole fucking point! nobody wanted Can or Li in Hollywood either. it isn't giving the finger to Hollywood. it is the fact that martial arts movies are cultural as you already mentioned. When you take these stars out of the environment that lets them thrive and be creative you fuck it all up. These films are a window to eastern culture that you won't get from a Hollywood studio. Hollywood doesn't know everything about everything when it comes to film making. You are not a failure cause your film wasn't produced by a Hollywood studio. You have some kind of warped version of what a movie is SUPPOSED to be and your fucking wrong. PERIOD.
-
Hell, we're saying we don't want Tony to come here for the exact reasons Macready listed above. What part of that do you not get? No one is shitting on Jackie or Jet, but to compare their movies, nothing they have made in Hollywood is anything compared to the films they made in Asia. The Rush Hour movies can't even scratch Drunken Master 2's left nut. And the Jet Li movie you mentioned is nowhere remotely close to being as good as Fist of Legend, or High Risk, or anything else he's done. Hell, the best stuff he did here wasn't really even hollywood, and I'm talking about the Luc Besson movies Unleashed and Kiss of the Dragon.
-
Reading what people ACTUALLY wrote can be difficult sometimes.
-
Even the fights were quite repetitive.
-
The end fight was pretty fucking cool.
