* MTV’s “Teen Mom” met a huge season-finale surge and beat “Leno” in 18-49 at 10 p.m. Getting its usual Tuesday boost from “Biggest Loser,” “Leno” did however manage to crush the “Lost” repeat’s 1.5 score at 10 p.m. How “Teen Mom” compares to other MTV originals this season:

* The new Tuesday episode of “Human Target” did not do as well as the “Human Target” repeat Fox ran last Tuesday. It only held on to about a third of “Idol’s” mammoth 18-49 audience.
* A repeat of “Lost” hit 1.5 in 18-49 in the 10 p.m. hour, which is better than any new episode of “The Forgotten” nabbed in that slot over the last two months. The two-hour season premiere of “Lost” arrives next Tuesday.
* “Scrubs” matched its all-time low and looks ready to get scrubbed. “Better Off Ted” did not hit its nadir but seems equally doomed. ABC’s just-cancelled “Ugly Betty” gets better scores than either sitcom.

It's a little bit Bond (Goldeneye-not-so-concerned-about-realism-era) with some Alias and Burn Notice thrown in for good measure. I also like that it seems more concerned with being clever, light-hearted, and fast paced than being emotional and deep (they have Fringe for that). Plus I will Watch Jackie Earle Haley in anything at this point. Of Course, given Fox's history with shows that I enjoy, I can rest assured that my Wednesday nights (or whatever) will be free again soon.

I've seen it once or twice (good acting, but you can't watch it sporadically) but even I find myself hoping/dreading an ending where everything turns out to be a dream. Unlikely I'm sure, as the internet would explode, but there's a part of me that would really enjoy people getting screwed over like that (the same irrational part that is still pissed about Dollhouse, and laughs when old people fall. A dark place to be sure).

Oh how I HATE all things MTV/Reality related...on a level I would almost describe as religious. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Teenage Mothers, but everything in those shows boils down to people WHINING and, "puking their feelings all over you," (I think I ought to get points for that one, Herc). You couldn't enjoy this shit if you were stoned, and almost everything is better (well, more watchable) if you're stoned!

Scrubs has actually managed to get better now that the recently uber-gay JD has left the scene. The new cast seems to actually be likable and pretty fun.
The only real problem with Ted is that nobody is watching it. Ted is an amazingly funny & quirky show that would do well sandwiched between The Middle & Modern Family. Portia de Rossi has never been funnier than she is here. Characters like Phil & Lem are like the modern comedic version of Rosencrantz and Gildenstern. Ironically, the least funny character is Ted. Every show needs a straight man though.
Scrubs actually might still have a couple of good seasons more left in it. Unfortunately, it may be a goner because it has already had its moment in the sun.
It's sad that Ted might be dead. I just think that this is a case of bad time slot and not bad show. ABC should have immediately moved it to Wednesdays once Kelsey Grammer's latest steaming turd got the can. -
Jay's jokes are predictable and lame. He just doesn't have the personality he had when he first started. He looks like he should retire at the end of the year. NBC lost a huge asset in Conan.

whiny big chinned beyotch. He simply couldn't pass the torch and move on. He could've shown some solidarity with Conan when the network gave its vote of no confidence. Really, it's not as if the network had a viable backup plan if both Conan & Jay refused to let NBC play their games. They should've just held the line.
Instead, Jay turned into a damn vulture. His glory days were long over and he refused to accept it, opting to prey on the NBC wounded Conan. It's a classic case of buyer's remorse. He bought himself a graceful exit 6 years ago and now regrets that decision.
Jay is the Jordan, Foreman, or Favre of late night TV. Retire & go play golf. Don't unretire and piss off every player who thought that they were free of that big shadow you cast. Retire with grace because. Give up the ghost. Unretiring only makes you look greedy and unwilling to share the glory. Worse yet, the comebacks seasons never seem to be as good as the glory years.
Conan should've been allowed to find his grounding. 7 months isn't shit. Instead, Leno's refusal to walk off into the sunset made it that much harder. That's like getting divorced, remarried, and moving in with your ex. You'll manage to bang both, but not satisfy either.
Leno should've moved on to producing or even back to stand-up, attempting to regain his lost mojo. There was no need for him to cocktease Conan for 6 years and then play innocent about it. Be-yotch. -
And totally justified by the way.

I was just saying something similar to a friend of mine about scrubs. It seemed JD and Turk got super gay for some reason this season. And I've noticed I can stand the new cast more time goes on. And as far as Better off Ted it's fun to watch too.Veronica, Phil and Lem are my favorite characters.

That's the bottom line. The network loves to send mixed message.
"Conan, we're retiring Jay's Tonight Show. Psst... Jay, you can continue to do the Tonight Show, but at an earlier hour."
"Conan, we love your off-beat humor. You'd make the perfect replacement for Jay in 6 years. Just make sure that you're doing the same thing Jay did. After all, nobody would want to think that it's the Conan Show."
The network is a bunch of back stabbing, double dealing tools. I mean, they always were, as we'd expect, but they made that shit real. The brought the ugly to the masses instead of leaving it in Hollyweird.
As for Scrubs, easyxrules, the whole super gay thing isn't so so new. In past seasons, Carla always jokingly lamented that Turk seemed to be in love with JD more. It's just that, in this season, it has reached somewhat bizarre levels. JD has gone from Neil Patrick Harris gay to full on Richard Simmons gay.
I think that the problem comes from the relative disappearance of Sarah Chalke & Judy Reyes' characters. Both seemed to be the perfect counter-balance that kept the bromance from straying out of the realm of absurdly funny to outright stupid. JD, without Elliot or Carla, just femmed up. Turk too, although he's toning back down now that JD left and Denise is stepping in as work buddy.
I do like the new cast though. Eliza Coupe's Denise & Dave Franco's Cole stand out as being so much better than the rest, with Denise as a fem-Cox and Cole as the new The Todd. -

Not the sort of thing I'd generally know except today's news has been talking about it. I'm curious to find out if she asks him any real questions or just tosses him softballs. Sure, she can ask him about how's he's feeling now and whether or not he's talked to Conan, or ever will again, since last week. But what I want her to ask is not the effect questions but the cause ones. I'd like to see her get to the root of why he would quit if he didn't want to; ask him if he saw the proposed 11:35 1/2 hour pre-Tonight Show gig as insulting in any way; did he consider (for how long) not taking that gig; did he concern himself with how taking it would impact O'brien & Fallon's shows; if NBC truly did force him out of his beloved Tonight Show why then did he agree to a new show with them. Questions like that, not pandering lobs like "how hurtful were the jokes Conan made about you".

On Oprah today. Leno is gonna say that he's just as mad as Conan about what NBC did, that the insults are just jokes, comedians do that to each other and that he wants to meet with Conan. No matter what he says, he's happily taking his old job back. It doesn't matter that Conan dreamed of having the Tonight Show gig. Leno comes first in Leno's world. To me it's like a hitman who was ordered to take someone out. Then says, he was a good guy. I hated doing that to him, but I had no choice. Oooh damn my crappy bosses. Aw well back to work with my big chin.

Scrubs is unfunny even to people who aren't giant, raging, closeted homophobes. There are people out there who don't like it for reasons other than a perceived gay undertone.

You don't have to be religious to appreciate spiritual "explanations". Kind of like how you don't have to think monsters are real to appreciate the Wolfman or Interview with the Vampire or the Mothman Prophecies. Sometimes "God" is just a placeholder for human fear of the unknown, like vampires are a placeholder for human sexuality, or werewolves are the placeholder for that part of us that is more animal than human. You know... a metaphor?
And, besides, the ending to BSG was a wee bit more involved than "God did it". -

People who have been sent to Hell are entitled to weekend passes in Heaven simply for sitting through "Indy 4". Child molesters can get automatic parole for sitting through "Indy 4". Conan O'Brien was offered a chance to keep "The Tonight Show" at 11:30 and have Jay Leno locked in a dungeon if he would sit through "Indy 4", but he turned it down.

I have no idea what seasons air on comedy central at 7/7:30pm EST, but i just do not like that show. I don't find any of the jokes funny and it just seems like its' trying way too hard to be quirky. I'd rather watch Jay Leno. Ok, I'm kidding, but it's pretty bad.

If I had to assign liability for the Tonight Show debacle I'd give the network 75% of the blame and Jay 25%. The network promised the Tonight Show to Conan during contract negotiations, not Jay. The network shuffled Jay out the door and then brought him back at 10:00PM, hoping to make money on a low budget 10:00PM show. Jay promised something bigger and better for his 10:00PM show and then delivered a weak rendition of the same old same old. So the network set up the situation and all Jay did was perform about as well as expected. So he looks out for #1? It's still the networks fault for putting him on at 10:00PM and dragging the rest of the nightly broadcast down with him.

I thought the first episode of 'new' Scrubs was a bit clunky, but I gave it a chance, and now I really like it. For the people that think JD and Turk are too gay (really?), JD's gone now, so it's all about the new characters (mostly). And yeah, the Franco guy is hilarious. He annoyed me at first, but now I like him.
And the corpse episode of Better Off Ted this week was fantastic. They need to at least give that show another season. Scrubs has had its run (even though I still like it).
SCREW JAY LENO. He said that the fact that HIS show had crappy ratings was good for Conan because it hid the fact that Conan had crappy ratings. Yeah, I'm sure Conan is eternally grateful to him for his crappy show taking the attention from his show. Very much appreciated. Douche. -
The worst part is that in the post interview you can watch online at Oprah.com. Not only is she talking with people who have NO IDEA what they're talking about because so many of them don't know the backstory (and I'm saying this about people on both sides of the spectrum, Conan and Leno supporters), but even SHE admits that she had didn't have the story right before going to interview him: SHE THOUGHT NBC PROPOSED THAT JAY AND CONAN WOULD BE SHARING THE TONIGHT SHOW. All she had to do was read one article and she'd know how absurd of a statement that was. She KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE SITUATION. She didn't know that Jay was going to be kicked out and replaced by Letterman when he started when his ratings were in the shitter, but they gave him a chance. LENO BLATANTLY LIED ABOUT MAKING "one little joke" about Letterman's infidelity AND SHE (and her editors/producers) LET HIM GET AWAY WITH IT. She never called him out on the fact that "yes" he's saving his people's jobs, BUT WHAT ABOUT CONAN'S, WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T GET JOBS BECAUSE HE WENT ALONG WITH THE "COMPANY LINE" AND TOOK OVER THE 10PM SLOT AND PREVENTED HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE FROM PUTTING DRAMAS ON THE AIR. Leno had the audacity to cry about how hard it was to put on a show at 10 when the other networks wanted him to fail so they prevented guests from coming on his show. WELL WHAT ABOUT ALL THE GUESTS YOU STOLE FROM CONAN BY HAVING BASICALLY "THE TONIGHT SHOW" WITHOUT THE NAME AT 10PM. Oprah also never acknowledges the fact that we live in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WORLD NOW. We have Tivo, we have the internet. We have different ways of watching Conan's show. Do I agree with Oprah, that if the people who supported him now had watched the show, this wouldn't have been an issue? Yes, I agree. But during the post interview on her site where she talks with the audience - which I really think is worth watching, not because it's informative on the "Late Night Wars," per say, but more so because of the cross-section of the country it shows, and also how ignorantly Oprah is for Jay - she calls out a woman for not watching the show, and another for not watching the show religiously. PEOPLE DIDN'T THINK THEY HAD TO WATCH THE SHOW RELIGIOUSLY BECAUSE CONAN WAS THE HOST OF THE TONIGHT SHOW. WE ALL THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO BE THERE FOR THE NEXT, AT LEAST, 10 YEARS! I really wish Herc had made this a full article, because I really want to more people's reaction on this.

While I like Oprah generally, just the notion of having Jay on to let him try to do damage control is a bit infuriating, especially if she's going to lob softballs at him and let him get away with it. Although there's one clip on TMZ (I haven't seen the whole interview) where I think Jay is truly revealed as a worthless piece of shit, and Oprah challenged him. Jay is asked why not just walk away when NBC pulled shenanigans, and Jay said that would be the ego thing to do because he and his staff had a contract for 2 years. That pissed me off because basically he was accusing Conan of doing the ego thing, when it's precisely the opposite...and Oprah called him on it. She said, he could have had them pay his and his staff's contract for the next 2 years like Conan did, so how is that the ego thing? Then that motherfucker Leno changed his answer and said that he stayed because The Tonight Show is a dream job. That right there reveals how much of a backbiting piece of shit he is...and anyone who can't see that after watching that clip is a piece of shit, too...IMO.

When he then said he thought "walking away" was an "ego thing" she did call him on it, reminding him that he already said his first reaction to the cancellation was to "walk away". He said he would have done that had he been able to give his staff sufficient notice to plan for being out of work, finding a new job, etc. (perhaps a year). She then asked him why he didn't do for his people what Conan did, basically negotiating a contract-buyout from NBC. NBC, as Oprah reminded him and us, guaranteed him the first year. They owed him, and presumably his staff, that first year's salary regardless of whether the show lasted one day, 4 months, or the full year. His answer: "I don't know". He did seem put out by it; I don't think he had anticipated that question.She did bring up the, as she put it, thousands of jobs that were "lost" from NBC cutting 5 hours a week from PrimeTime. Leno's reply: "It never occurred to me until I read it somewhere".I was hoping she would ask him how seriously he saw the 1/2 hour pre-Tonight Show show as something he would be happy doing. Was he looking forward to being Conan O'brien's opening act? Or was the offer insulting and the only reason he said yes was the possibility that Conan would say No and he could get his old show back?She also set him up in a way that showed some hypocrisy in his side of the story. He said, when NBC offered to put him on at 11:35 for a 1/2 hour, then push back the start times to both The Tonight Show and Late Night, that he expressed concern for Conan O'brien and asked "is Conan Ok with this?". He claims they told him they were 75% certain Conan would be fine with it, so he then agreed to it. Well, as we all know, Conan was not OK with it. Oprah asked him if he called O'brien to see what he thought of the plan. Leno's response: "It wasn't my place to call him", basically saying "not my job, not my responsibility, to make sure Conan's on board". Too bad Oprah didn't call him on that, asking him which was it. Did he care that taking the 11:30 warm-up show might upset Conan, or was that a "network decision", the ramifications of which where none of his concern? If he really gave a crap about how Conan felt about that, he would have made a point of finding out for himself, and not simply take the network's word for it and let them deal with it.Now that I think about it, she could have called him on other stuff. He said he'd rather stay at NBC because moving to another network "is a lot of hard work". Sure, but it's probably not much more than going from The Tonight Show to The Jay Leno Show, then back to The Tonight Show, within a year, maybe even less work. Is taking whatever NBC offers you "good enough" because it's easier than having to go out on your own? It makes me wonder, if NBC hadn't offered Leno the 10pm show, what else he had going on? I'm beginning to think, back in 2004, Leno agreed to his leaving The Tonight Show in part because he thought he would be inundated with offers. Conan was getting offers, prompting NBC to sweeten his contract at that time with a guarantee of The Tonight Show. Possible that Leno looked at the next 5 years as a way to make himself a highly sought-after free agent come 2009. However, when 2008 rolled around, and perhaps the offers weren't rolling in, at least not to his liking, he may have started thinking "what AM I going to do?". Leno seems to take great pride in saying he doesn't have an agent. I have to think all this, Leno being "forced out" of The Tonight Show, the seeming dearth of post-Tonight Show offers, NBC retaining Leno's rights after his last Tonight Show (I think Leno said it was 8 months) limiting his ability to move onto something new, Leno not able to get out of his contract after The Jay Leno Show is cancelled, Leno taking the (in my opinion) insulting offer of being Conan O'brien's opening act, and Leno's reputation and image being tarnished by NBC's mishandling of the whole situation,could have been avoided had he had an agent. That's what an agent does. They get the best deal for their client, they make sure that if the deals aren't coming in, they go search them out, and they protect their clients from bad deals, bad decisions, and bad PR.

Just the fact that even after everything he said, she didn't have the knowledge necessary to call him out, and then had the gall to take his side after. Watch on Oprah.com, how she defends him in every instance. How she goes OUT OF HER WAY to back him up. To me it's just 2 incredibly rich people with no kids, thinking only of themselves.
