"Not available in your country"
-
That is all.
-
Not quite, there was maybe about 3 seconds of footage we haven't seen before that wasn't just the Iron Man Cheerleaders dancing
-
Looked like the exact same stuff as in the trailer to me, but with an AC/DC song that sounds so much like every other AC/DC song that I can't even tell if it's new or old.
-
...Iron Man 2?
-
Meh.
-
can't wait to see the gritty reboot of "girls just want to have fun" where she tortures her abusive father, spliced with footage from saw 7.
-
..if Favreau knows that there's a song on the latest ac/dc album called War Machine?
-
And you mean all I have to do to see this new footage is endure three or four minutes of premium-suck from 5 dried-up geezers zipping around stage on Hoverounds, trying to seem youthful while simultaneously dumping brown mounds in their Depends?
Sign me up! -
I figured AICN readers would care about that one.
-
I hate metal so much.
-
i kinda skimped through the article so maybe i missed it but i just read on another site that they're actually releasing an AC/DC album for Iron Man 2. it'll feature a bunch of their hits.
-
I would have loved it if I was the only one there. The fans were borderline retarded.
-
Sorry man I owe you a Christmas present - it skipped my mind amidst all the holiday hub bub ... please search on "Shy masseuse wants to do porno" (parts 1 to 3). There is some spitting involved - not my thing but I tend to FF through that ...
-
There's nothing like old men, some without shirts, rockin it out old school. Actually, a little bit disturbing. I was hoping for more new clips than that. I'll take what I can get, I guess.
-
is if Zooey covered it.
-
It looks so fake when he stands up and raises both his arms in the air. For all the talk about using practical effects and suits... I wonder why on earth would you make something so easy to do CGI? Unless I'm wrong and that IS someone in a suit is moving very unrealistically...

That's IT? What a sham. Boo on you, Columbia!

The more I think about it, the more potential this film has to be a mess. 3 villains? Stark dealing with 3 villains, the government, and what looks like an infection at his power source?

Next time put bikinis on the band and have girls topless.
by cookylamoo
Works better in keeping my interest.
-
The trailor has me in quaking in fear. The action looked underwhelming, the villain seemed uninteresting and apparently RDJ was told to turn the snark control up to 11. Also, adding in War Machine only serves to dilute everything.
-
so fucking annoying.
-
Bad Dum Bum DSSSSHHHHH . . ..
-
Man, if this is how we celebrate Christmas, what's in the works for Easter?
-
Could be in a movie all by itself. The lasting memory will forever be burned into my psyche.
-
This is a glaring indictation that Iron Man 2 may suffer from sequelitis. She is not right for an action girl role, especially not a character as fierce and vicious as Black Widow. Doesn't anyone else find it odd that an actress of Johannson caliber is briefly shown in the fucking trailer?
-
The fast one and the slow one.
-
Jan 26, 2010 11:36:58 AM CST
Where's Jetl93 with the real scoop behind this trailer?
by theycallmemrtibbs
I want ANSWERS!
-
Has more of a presence in the trailers than Scarlett Johannson.
-
...(chortle!)
-
Be prepared for Deja Vu this summer!
-
Because I can't imagine there being that many fans of metal today.
-
My highly-placed sources at the Schenectady, NY Public Library have informed me that Mr. L93 is currently ensconced in the 4th stall of the 2nd floor men's restroom, or, as he refers to it, "his office", and is busily brainstorming ways to stage his AICN comeback after having recently been banned by Harry Knowles and company. His development process is expected to take several weeks at most, at which time he will return to the 3rd floor of the library and re-establish his internet connection, making his glorious and fanfare-filled return to the digital halls of Ain't It Cool News accompanied by the heartfelt online cheers of his legions of adoring fans.
-
I'm not comparing Johannson to Glenn Close. My attitude toward Scarlett after watching her movies and listening to her album is that she's terrible at everything but looking good. But she's been in many high profile films with screen legends and she's in a highly anticipated summer blockbuster, playing an iconic comic character, and you don't see her do anything in that trailer but pose. Doesn't fill me with confidence about her role. Megan Fox would be a terrible actress in 70s era porn, but even the trailers for Jennifer's Body showed her speaking.
-
What new footage? These guys in ACDC are old geezers. Pretty bad when the version of the song is from 30 years ago.
-
was of the dancing girls.... Everything else was in the first trailer.
-
Frightening mental image: Megan with "lady parts" forested with a shrub the size and shape of a slice of New York pizza! Ahhhh!
-
What's with all the metal hate? I'm personally tired of seeing action movies with soundtracks from talentless hacks, indie bands that are "indie" for a reason, or bad rappers. A whole soundtrack of Rock N Roll sounds good to me.
I understand people not liking rock, but you at least have to respect AC/DC. They've been in the game longer than most of you have been born.
Death to all but METAL!!!!!! -
The only thing I'm really looking forward to in Iron Man 2 is hearing the retarded Russian accents she's gonna come up with. Mark my words, regardless of how good or bad the movie will be, her accent will be the most memorable thing in the motherfucker. It'll give us all something we can take home from the theatre, neverending giggles
-
It's Jon Favreau. Of course, I enjoyed Xarathustra. So, take that as you will. Series will die when Favreau leaves to do other things. Avengers will like be kinda whack. Am I the only person who doesn't buy Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury? Probably just me.
-
Metal Rules!
-
I mean, just put this in the sidebar ads.

AC/DC just wrote two REALLY GOOD songs. So good, that you don't mind (and even like) listening to them rehashed over and over again.
-
I use to like these guys a lot, when I was 10 years old.
-
And BACK IN BLACK is still one of the best albums ever made. Knocking them is like somebody calling the Stones or Led Zep or Radiohead or the White Stripes overrated. You'll just sound like a total fool to anybody who knows rock music.
-
Lousy music and worse vocals! WTF is that shit? I'd give 'Sabbath props before Agnus and his damn schoolboy uniform.
-
Jan 26, 2010 12:37:11 PM CST
I expected it would be "War Machine" from the new CD!
by the reluctant austinite
They've got a song called "War Machine" on their latest CD, "Black Ice," that I assumed would end up in the "Iron Man 2" promotion. In fact, I wrote to Gene Simmons of KISS as soon as the first "Iron Man" came out telling him to get on the phone with Favreau's people about using their classic track, also called "War Machine" off "Creatures of the Night," to use in the previews to introduce Rhodes' character in the sequel. If only Hollywood bigwigs would listen to us AICN geeks, the world would be a cooler place.
-
And easy listening.
-
Because Sabbath is fucking awesome and deserves all kinds of props???
-
Jan 26, 2010 12:43:53 PM CST
Listen to "War pigs" as part of the lyrics had mentioned "War ma
by stalkeye
Yet the song is over 30 years old.
-
What do you want? Some EMO rock in there? Maybe some Nickelback? How about some "classic" *cough* Limp Bizkit? Fuck that shit. Certainly can tell the kiddies from the adults if your bitching about what "geezers" ACDC are. They still rock just as hard today as 25 years ago. I saw them then, and I saw them a couple of years back. Other than changing hairlines, they still kick ass live. ACDC has written two good songs? Every single song on Back in Black is a winner. One of the best ever. Most current band have maybe two good songs per album at best. /end rant
-
depending on the day I'm having at work.
-
They rock just as much.
-
That's like when the first Spider Man movie was released and they used a Jerry Cantrell song called "She Was My Girl" from his new album and he had another, heavier song called "Spiderbite" that was better than that shite "Hero" song by that horrible Nickelback group.
-
That is top fucking shelf.
-
Emo? Limp Bizkit? No, but there was a scene in the first Iron Man movie where Stark was working in his lab to the musical accompaniment of Suicidal Tendencies classic, "Institutionalized". I was hoping for more classic old school punk/hardcore like that instead of washed up corporate metal. That said, AC/DC is the least objectionable of their ilk. I suppose we could have ended up with Bon Jovi.
-
Sounds divine!!!!
-
I think we can all agree people who like Nickleback need to die.
-
HehHeh. Oh, you guys...
-
I'll take a new AC/DC album over the rehashed modern metrosexual crap rock out there... Adam Lambert, Shinedown, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin crap.
-
visuals would sync up. Another crappy video player site capitalizing on fanboy movie excitement. Sad. At least it was AC/DC and not Prince or something.
-
YES! Man I hope this movie is as entertaining as Last Action Hero. Make up for that borefest that was the first one. That added to the fact that the third guy down on the Tropic Thunder script wrote it! Ohhhh wait Don Cheedle is still a huge pussy and still playing War Machine.....all hope gone.
-
Painful indeed. PAINFULLY AWESOME!
And AC/DC is not metal. Never has been. It's straight up Rock and motherfuckin' Roll, bitch.
-
I watched that entire five minute video for new footage and there was zero. What gives?
-
LOVE
-
But I do know my ears are still ringing.
-
Just like it did with fucking Ironman in the original.
-
is a pretty funny idea, and totally in keeping with this version of Tony Stark, the playboy. i'm not an AC/DC fan but that song's catchy, although about 2.5 minutes too long.
-
Aren't exactly gym rats are they?
-
The Scorpions announced their retirement.
-
You wouldn't know rock music if it dickslapped you across the face. I have little to no interest in anything put out by AC/DC since the early 90's at the latest, but shoot to thrill is classic. I hope Bon Scott rises from the dead and force feeds you your pink puss puss nano full of top 40 autotuned pablum for breakfast.
-
At least put the schoolboy cap back on.
-
That song was included on the soundtrack for "The Boy In the Striped Pajamas"
-
with that balding head running around shirtless..... dude, youre old - put on a shirt and a hat.
-
I have to admit, AC/DC used to be my favorite band. I haven’t gotten anything new of theirs in years, and when I listen to them now, I listen to the old stuff – Highway to Hell, Back in Black, For those about to rock… If you can honestly say those old ass albums don’t rock hard, you must be a douchebag without any idea of what hard rock is. Goodtime music, bitches! I know most of you are 12, but please, get some education.
-
Face it Todays Music sucks fucking ass!!! AC/DC are ROCK LEGENDS and know how to play the instruments. Half you wouldn't know how to play a lick of music or hear true feel when it comes down to it!
-
Even Slayer is like "Whoa..."
-
Zardozap2005: No, you eat shit. However you gave Ozzy a shout-out and that song Crazy train is better than any of the shit i heard from AC/DC.What the fuck is "Back in Blaaaaaccckk"?OK song but nothing worth listening over and over.ironburl I often listen to megadeth or Samhain and a few other bamds so i guess i don't know shit about rock music.
-
Bands half their age are dead with needles in their arms and their asses in the air
-
But I could've sworn I saw Harry Knowles fat ass in the Faculty last night.
-
In the credits and all
-
Thank Randy Rhoads for the brilliance that is Crazy Train. He was one of he best that ever lived. Still, AC/DC is some fine old school rock music.
-
That I can see what he's thinking.
-
refers to the first album AC/DC released after the death of lead singer Bon Scott. Hence, the band was back, in black.
-
But who didn't?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN76Llvh8g8 -
Black and White beats the shit out of Back in Black anyday.great indy band even with Wayne screaming throughout their songs. Powerman 5000 is another good one.Supervillian is a must listen for geeks and comic afficiandos alike.
-
I used to listen to Wisconsin Death Trip practically 24/7. Every track a virtual dickslap to the face.

I can get into Slayer but those fuckers go too far at times.

Undisputed atitude was their best album next to seasons in the abyss.Didn't care for 'guilty of being white" wayy tooo defensive.O:=

but yeah there were some great stuff in there like Stoopid and especially Otsegolation.Which reminds me,gotta rip these from my cd into my ipod's playlist.
-
LOL I just put it on my todo list.

It makes a lot of sense that Tony Stark would love AC/DC.
by the reluctant austinite
For all of you out there that think rock n rollers should retire at 30 years old, kiss my ass. Tony Stark is a gear head; a billionaire gear head, but still a gear head. He loves cars and heavy metal. Downy Jr. (and thus Tony Stark) is 45 years old, and it makes sense he would enjoy old school heavy metal. He might also listen to Lady Gaga in his sports car, but when it comes time to get dirty in the garage working on the new suit of armor, he's going to pick AC/DC every time.
-
No, Tony rather listen to suicidal tendencies while working in his garage. Mike Miur must be proud.
-
Jan 26, 2010 3:06:43 PM CST
Isn't it time for AC/DC to just go away?????????????????????????
by crackerfarmboy
Seriously, they are 130 years old and have been making the same song for the last 78 years. Who is still listening to this shit?
-
Jan 26, 2010 3:07:37 PM CST
Punk Rock and old school metal are like bullets & guns.
by the reluctant austinite
Peanut butter & jelly. Lone Ranger and Tonto. One of the great, old school punk rockers I met once (and I've met a couple of great ones, including Johnny Ramone) told me he thought anyone who hated heavy metal should turn in their punk credentials and die.

I like to curl up with a good book and my Dead Kennedys vinyl.
by vic twenty
Nazi punks fuck off, indeed.
-
First of all, he was a overbearing uber conservative who praised Dubya and objected to the lyrics from Bonzo goes to bittburg.Second, the prick stole Joey's girlfriend as a result, the band had a major falling out.And third, during a tour while joey was sick, johnny didnt really give a damn, as long as he was able to perform on stage.Oh, not to mention after Dee Dee and Joey's passing, Johnny said now that they are dead, he can make more of a profit from the album sales.yeah, what a fucking class act he was.
-
That has got to be the stupidest reason for hating a band I've ever heard. AC/DC's old stuff rocks. Are there better bands? Sure. But 20 years later, you can still rock out to AC/DC, and as much as I love a lot of the modern bands, too, I doubt I'll be able to say the same about them in 20 years.
-
Jan 26, 2010 3:18:59 PM CST
i loved the ramones, but mostly it was all about Misfits and Bla
by stalkeye
and throw in some early Clash,TSOL andAgnostic front and you have a cool punkfest.
-
So said Johnny Ramone. Er - wait a minute, FUCK THAT GUY!
-
i just don't care for insensitive douchebags like Johnny. (Or the fact that I'm not impressed by AC/DC.and Dead kennedys was good back in the day but i prefer DOA.
-
That is disappointing.
-
Nothing wrong with that.
-
and they wouldn't give it to him
-
People will bitch about anything.
-
Good one. Although the Spirit certainly wasn't her fault.
-
I could play "Thunderstruck" whilst actively engaging in an AICN talkback. In fact, I'm going to do that and post in on YuTB when I get home.
-
Only in the AICN talkbacks is something like this possible.
I literally created an account just to tell you sorry fuckers to go to hell.
I know you the only way you feel satisfaction in life is to hate everything in life, but to diss one of the greatest and hardest working rock and roll bands ever? Jesus, fuck that. You better shut the fuck up, go listen to the retarded emo diarrhea your stupid ears are used to, and let the adults talk about real music. -
have only written two songs. But I'll take a Jeff Beck any day over Angus
-
They've made a very lucrative career, going on, what, 30, 40 years, and they've only written one song. Seriously! I mean, EVERY single song sounds EXACTLY the same. It's kind of amazing. Can anyone actually tell the difference between their songs, cause I sure as hell can't.(Btw, not for nothin', the album Back In Black sounds WAY better at half speed; especially whilst in the depths of an extended binge. Try it sometime the next time you are gettin' your lean on.)
-
It's not just another sumnmer popcorn fl8ick, it's truly lighting in a bottle at this point...I hope theytreat it a such
-
The fact that they are old geezers without shirts and WITH receding hairlines is great. You don't eat a White Castle burger because it LOOKS good, but because it TASTES good. I'm serious, those guys are great. I hope they keep playing and playing and having fun until they kick the bucket. Long Live AC/DC!
-
That bald-mullet of his is frightening.
Take a lesson from Kim Mitchell, dude. Wear a hat. -
That had nothing new at all except people shirtless I would have rather not seen shirtless. AC/DC are fucking awesome if you love their only trick. Kinda like Frank Miller in that way.
-
You've made your first mistake: Creating an account just to argue on the internet. You've now lost. Luckily, there'll be more hate-filled theads in the future you can ignore to make up for it.
-
When the HELL did rockers have to look good? When did what they "look like" become more important than what they sound like? You know who else loves AC/DC? Stephen King, for one. Who else? Almost every rock lover that isn't a douchebag Talkbacker! This hate for AC/DC, one of the great four chord, pure rock n bands in history, is something that could only happen on the Internet where whinny, self important, spoiled d-bags congregate. I guess they'd hate the Rolling Stones too. They're old.
-
I only saw clips from the trailer.
-
But I digress...
-
I'll give it up for early AC/DC... Bonn Scott was the man. But the shit they're pumping out with Brian Johnson is weak, and has been since Fly on the Wall. (and this is coming from someone who saw them on the Money Talks tour)
-
want a Sideshow collectible EVER!
Until the Princess Leia versus Jabba the Hut One.
Never ever. -
If some obese middle aged virgin gave it to me for free in exchange for a deep fried slice of hoagie cake.
-
It's pure Rock n Roll. Or 12 bar blues actually.
-
AC/DC, even admitted by Angus himself, has written one album . . . and guess what? YOU DON'T NEED TO CHANGE WHEN YOU GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. Rock & Roll does not get better than AC/DC, PERIOD.Only at AICN could somebody say the crowd at that show was CGI. They've sold more total albums than Michael Jackson worldwide, if you need a reference, and 'Back in Black' is the 5th best selling album of all time. They also consistently have one of the most attended AND highest grossing tours when they go out.Oh, AND THEY WRITE AND PLAY THEIR OWN FUCKING MUSIC LIVE EVERY TIME ON STAGE.If you don't like AC/DC, I'd love, LOVE, to hear what you think is good.
-
Is this written regarding a bit of movie news, OR is it an advertisement for VEVO?
VEVO is written above approximately 837 times. VEVO! -
Since when? AC/DC has never been a metal band, it's called Rock and Roll. And they sure are a bit repetitive, but anyone who doesn't enjoy Back In Black has NO taste for good rock music...it's a classic album, through and through.
And whoever said that Brian Johnson is like the Rod Stewart of rock is an IDIOT. Rod Stewart at one point was one of the best ROCK AND ROLL singers ever. His vocals for The Faces, and The Jeff Beck Groups first two albums is nothing short of masterful, one of the most powerful blues voices you will ever here. But your probably one of the assholes who thinks his career started with The Great American Songbook. -
They obviously wouldn't know good music if it slapped them in the face. As for them being repetitive, plenty of great artists have been repetitive. The Ramones, mentioned several times here, knew about 2 1/2 chords and used them in every song. The Cult, The Jesus & Mary Chain, most of Nine Inch Nails...hell, even Chuck Berry could be called repetitive. All great bands, and several of them are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (and most of the rest of them probably will be someday). So, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Rock on.
-
Jeez, sowwies for offending your tastes in music but Get-the-fuck over yourselves! It's not as if you're getting paid for endorsing their music. Some of us don't dig on it,so be it. And yeah feel free to trash my music tastes i could give two shits. Icould be worst, you guys could have been fans of Nickleback which is justifiable if for being cannon fodder.
-
Might as well go for a soda!! Angus is a little long in the tooth and does need a hat, and maybe a shirt while we're at it. They do still rock though.
-
Truth.
-
Agreed. Like I'm going to worry about the opinion of some kid I most likely helped conceive in an '89 'Stang.
I'm sure Angus and the boys give a flying f*** about the opinions of haters on this board, as they rock all the way to the bank. -
I strongly suggest that you rent End of the century. one of the best band related documentaries ever. It's almost a no holds barred take on the ramones and the rivalry between Joey and Johhny.I give Johnny respect for being the taskmaster of the band and even coming up with the idea of donning the iconic motorcycle jacket as their uniform. But the guy was a bit of a jerk. But rent it and judge for yourself.

JumpinJehosaphat: Pffft...I know, man. I just needed to defend AC/DC cause they're...AC/DC. You won't see me arguing with losers here, cause I'd never finish. But you can also find some good people, so I'm happy to talk to them.
The Reluctant Austinite: Amen indeed, brother.
BBSloth: Exactly. They don't like bullshit labels, they just say "We play rock and roll". Same thing with Lemmy and Motorhead, they say exactly the same thing.
TheMandrakeRoot: Massive, massive props for mentioning The Faces and the 2 first brilliant albums by the Jeff Beck Band. "Blues Deluxe" is a fucking vocal tour de force, Rod Stewart knocks it out of the park, big time.
-
... how you can like The Clash and Ozzy and think AC/DC is crap . . . just plain doesn't fit in my brain.
-
IMO Both Clash and OZ just sound better.Your inquiry is like asking why one favors Xbox 360 and bashes the wii or someone who loves The Dark Knight but thought Ironman sucked. (And yes, some Tbers have actually posted how much IM sucked.)It's all about preferences m'boy. You guys love AC/DC "good for youuuuuuuu", me I'm just not feeling it. "You shook me all night long" isn't what i would add to my playlist while working out.
-
TOO LATE!!!
-
Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Jerry Lee Lewis rule supreme if we are talking "rock and roll". I hate that "pure rock" shit you redneck assholes talk. There is nothing pure about rock and roll. AOR pushed bullshit is not "pure" rock and roll. Its white trash white power segregated bullshit. Things that the originators of REAL Rock and Roll were against, as is Iron Man and his homey War Machine.
-
I know it has three villains, but for some reason I think it works for Iron Man. I mean technically there are four villains if you count Mandarin who I am sure will get a mention in this one like the first.
-
This is nastier than the Polanski thread.
-
I get having different tastes in music, but it's pretty rare (I've found, anyway) to like two staples of classic rock/metal and hate a third.awardgiver, Jerry Lee Lewis was born in Louisiana and married his 13 year old cousin . . . great musician and pillar of rock & roll, but if you're gonna talk about 'white trash,' let's try and be accurate about all parties, ok?Plus, you know AC/DC started in 1974 and didn't even have a release in the States until Highway to Hell, their 6th studio album, in 1979, right? Doesn't exactly sound like company pop band to me...Also, born and raised in SoCal, so nice try on the redneck stuff, and: "white power"? Wow... good luck out their dude.
-
Yeesh. Revel in your ignorance.
-
Marvel's marketing people are asleep at the wheel.
-
Metallica and Slayer are better than Megadeth.
Danzig and the Misfits are both better than Samhain, but those were your examples of good rock. I rest my case. -
Would LOVE to see something with Maiden, but I think it's pretty hard to sell anything using 'Mariner'!
-
Better have a look at this album cover:
http://www.amoeba.com/dynamic-images/blog/Sarah/acdc-if-you-want-blood
Nothing screams METAL!!!! like that album cover. -
And anybody complaining about ACDC or hard rock or metal in general needs to go put on their panties and fuck off. What songs would you put in an action movie? Death Cab for Cutie? Arcade Fire? The Shins? Some music is made for ass kicking and some isn't. Get a clue.
-
Those are just great albums. But I guess Talkbackers hate fun.
-
Oh well. I had my hopes up put this really puts me off. Just awful.
-
Will Smith as ACDC.

Avatar now officially the highest grossing movie of all time...
by sk229
Fuckin' amazing. Never would have predicted it and even though I liked D9 more, I think the fact that we have an original sci-fi film as the highest grossing of all time once again, it deserves a TB. If only to rub it in the faces of the douche-nozzles who predicted doom. Also, am I wrong, or is this the first fucking time nearly every article about a movie's box office gross mentions ticket inflation? Did they do that for TDK? Hell, did they do it for Titanic? I don't think so, but maybe I'm incorrect.
-
'deathcab for cutie' - has to be the stupidest name for a band of all time. and don't get me started on 'nickleback' - a local station played 2 of their songs at once, and you honestly couldn't tell
-
BLOW UP YOUR VIDEO is the last AC/DC i bought, eons ago
-
Like to see you look that good at his age. Dancing around up there with that type of energy.
-
Amen . . . and frankcotten, excellent Night Prowler ref . . . that's actually an amazing song, but we'll never hear it live because of that fuck ramirez. You should definitely check out some of the recent albums, though, as each one definitely has some awesome tracks.
-
... kinda sounded like Rainman on that last post!
-
So there's that.
-
Misfits better than samhain? hellz yea! Danzig better than Samhain? No, not quite. The only good songs from the band's catalog would be "Mother" "Dirty Black Summer" and Glenn's ballard "Sistanis" other than that, it's OK.Out of the three thrashers, i would give the nod to Slayer which I listen to more than 'deth but that doesn't mean that Megadeth is inferior to both Metallica and Slayer, each have their own plus and minusis. There are songs that get repeated play on my 'pod and there are songs that are instantly deleted from my playlist.Megadeth is perfect when using the XB360 Custom soundtrack when playing certain games however I'm not too keen on the guitar solo during songs."Psychotron" and "Holy Wars" were inspired from Marvel characters Deathlok and Punisher respectively, so already they get props from me. Metallica (inspired by The Misfits)have great cover songs be it the ramones' "Commando" or the "fits' "Last Caress' but their ballards are lacking IMO.Slayer delivers the goods and are very influentual, however too many songs about Satanism and nazism is fucked up. (Lemme get this straight, It's OK to have their music out there, but when Ice-T has a song about the injustice of Police Brutality, it gets pulled off the shelves?!?)Fucking double standard, only in America. LMMFAO!what's fucking pathetic is how some of you ppl are overly defensive because some of us don't take highly to a Aussie Rock Band that although successful in their own right, can't compare with many Rockers from yesterday or today. And anyone that is quick to assume AC/DC haters are into EMO or Nickleback is a muthafucking idiot.Case dismissed!
-
You are a fucking moron. 1) AC/DC are Australian with an English vocalist. 2) Most of the biggest "classic rock" acts i.e Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin etc. were not American. Real rednecks, eh? Plus Brian Johnson (DC vocalist) is the salt of the Earth, no pretentions, just a genuinely nice guy. Not a bigoted redneck. What a douchebag you are, seriously.
-
WTF? How the hell can you say that "Holy Wars" was inspired by the Punisher? It was about Palestine. Have you ever listened to the lyrics, or even read a Punisher comic? Or am I missing something here?
-
I know the song was about war in the Middle East, however the lyrics was influenced by the Punisher This song is inspired by the Marvel comic book, "The Punisher," which Mustaine no longer reads because "it's been commercialized."
Wage the war on organized crime
Sneak attacks, repel down the rocks
Behind the lines
Some people risk to employ me
Some people live to destroy me
Either way they die.
They killed my wife and my baby,
With hopes to enslave me
First mistake... last mistake!
Paid by the alliance, to slay all the giants
Next mistake... no more mistakes! Thanks for playing! :P
-
I'm not too big on Megadeth's solos, but the 1-2 minute opening solo for Holy Wars beats anything i have heard from AC/DC.*waves at ironburl*
-
Your post is nothing short of a contradiction.Jerry lee Lewis and Elvis could be considered Rednecks, oh and they are almost in the same catagory as Polanski.Underage women?!? WTF?now ask Chuck D (of public enemy) what he thinks of Elvis.*snicker*White Segragationists? Back in the day, the Southern Man protested rock n roll as they deemed it to be the devil's music..or the real reason would be music made by Blacks. But as a consilation for your ignorance, it was the Blacks that founded/created Rock and Roll. Please put more thought before you post.
-
"They killed my wife and my baby, With hopes to enslave me" Frank Castle's family are caught in the crossfire of a mafia shootout, there was no attempt to "enslave" Castle. BTW I agree about the solo, Marty Friedman (and about a million other guitarists > Angus Young!)
-
Dave incorporated some references of Punisher to blend in a song about middle eastern conflicts.Holy Wars is NOT soley based on Punisher, but 'deth had paid a lil homage by sneaking that one in.Great song!
-
I personally favor 'deth as it appeals more to my tastes. A lot of the songs are about the social injustices here and abroad and I really can't say the same for Metallica. What I also like about the band, is that it's a perfect revenge tale, Mustane was kicked out of the Band (Metallica) and started his own venue that rivals metallica.Sure talica is a more viable commercialized success, but that doesn't help too much with the line up's shitty reputation; The Napster controversy,Hetfield being a racist fuckwad and then there's all the boozing and bitching (Hetfield vs Axl Rose) and lackluster Albums as of recent starting with St anger. The only good song from their latest album is Judas kiss and maybe, just maybe All nightmare Long.Sure mustane had mentioned that The Punisher was too comercialized, yet he goes and make a song about a very popular Videogame. (Here's a hint: it was the xbox360's system seller and I'm not talking about HALO.)Still all and all, great bands deserving of praise.BTW I also listen to Disturbed,White Zombie,Classic Soul and ol school Punk and Rap. Ergo, feel free to counterattack and bash my tastes in music if it makes ya feel better guys. (0:
-
No argument there mate! I love that album, totally amazing.
-
Again, I agree! From a musical standpoint, Megadeth are way better than Metallica, but probably aren't as accessible for most people. I don't rate Metallica as highly as I used to since "The Black Album". I think they sold out for the money and lost a bit o what made them great. Just about everyone I know recoils in horror when I say "...And Justice For All" pisses over anything that came after it but I like my metal to be metal, not watered down pop-rock with some country flavour! But hey, that's just me. Back on topic, IM2 looks good, ScarJo = HAWT!
-
I'm talking 80s Metallica. Everything Metallica has done from the 90s on up has been terrible to the point of embarrassment. But their 80s stuff? Untouchable. Master of Puppets is one of the greatest albums of all time.AC/DC's one song is pretty fun, but since they've only written one song, it's hard to take them seriously as anything other than a quaint novelty. But either way, again, Back In Black sounds WAY better played back at half speed. Seriously! It actually sounds amazing that way... especially whilst in the depths of an extended lean.
-
Dwarfpig's, excuse me, Danzig's "solo" work is, like Metallica's 90s-on-up output, awful to the point of embrassment.
-
Duh.
-
Are better than them all.
-
AC/DC is not "metal", and you are an idiot.
-
into prog rock, considering RDJ's age analogous to a late 70's / early 80's teen, brainy gearhead. But a teen of that time also would've listened to AC/DC.
-
And Rush. Definitely Rush.
-
It's pretty obvious by this talkback that most of you do not - nor will you ever - understand the HUGE differences between Rock'n'Roll, Rock, Hard Rock, Progressive, Metal, Death Metal, R&B, Funk, etc. AC/DC is decent mixture of Hard Rock and Rock'n'Roll. While many consider Led Zeppelin to be Metal, in truth, they were Rock'n'Roll - and sometimes Folk Rock, sometimes, Blues, sometimes Progressive, sometimes Rockabilly, Country, and even Madrigal. Get a clue kiddies, some of the stuff you call Rock today isn't even close. And it is kids like you who have influenced the nomination board for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to include shit that is NOWHERE close to Rock'n'Roll. Get a clue - maybe you can buy a vowel.
-
AC/DC RULES!
