Just got the below press release, which pretty much speaks for itself.

Here's the vid they're talking about:

VEVO PREMIERES AC/DC MUSIC VIDEO FEATURING
NEW FOOTAGE FROM IRON MAN 2

“Shoot To Thrill” Premieres Today With 11 AC/DC Video Classics on VEVO

NEW YORK January 26, 2010 – Iron Man fans can preview footage from the forthcoming Iron Man 2 movie with the premiere of AC/DC’s new music video for “Shoot To Thrill” beginning today on the VEVO Network. VEVO, the new premium music video and entertainment service, will exclusively premiere “Shoot To Thrill” as well as 11 other AC/DC music videos, which Columbia Records is making available in short-form for the first time.

AC/DC’s “Shoot To Thrill” features heavily in the hotly-anticipated Iron Man 2, which hits theatres May 7. Many never-before-seen clips from the forthcoming movie, as well as incredible performance footage from the band’s recent concert in Buenos Aires, can be seen in the new music video. Iron Man 2, based on the classic Marvel comic, is Paramount’s sequel to 2008’s Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr. and directed by Jon Favreau, which grossed over $300 million in the U.S.

Additionally, AC/DC fans will be able to watch exclusively on VEVO just-released short-form music videos of some of the band’s classic hits including “Shoot To Thrill” (from Circus Krone), “Let There Be Rock” (from No Bull), “Thunderstruck” (from Live at Donnington), “Let There Be Rock,” “Rock ‘N’ Roll Damnation,” “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It),” “Back In Black,” “Thunderstruck,” “Highway to Hell,” “Guns for Hire” and “Rock N Roll Train.” Videos for these songs were previously available only as part of long-form live concert DVDs.

All music videos can be viewed across the VEVO Network, which includes VEVO.com and YouTube. Fans can instantly access “Shoot To Thrill” (from Iron Man 2) on VEVO’s home page or any of the AC/DC videos on the band’s profile page at http://www.acdc.vevo.com .

It looks so fake when he stands up and raises both his arms in the air. For all the talk about using practical effects and suits... I wonder why on earth would you make something so easy to do CGI? Unless I'm wrong and that IS someone in a suit is moving very unrealistically...

    by darkartist

This is a glaring indictation that Iron Man 2 may suffer from sequelitis. She is not right for an action girl role, especially not a character as fierce and vicious as Black Widow. Doesn't anyone else find it odd that an actress of Johannson caliber is briefly shown in the fucking trailer?

    by jaylenotookmyjob

My highly-placed sources at the Schenectady, NY Public Library have informed me that Mr. L93 is currently ensconced in the 4th stall of the 2nd floor men's restroom, or, as he refers to it, "his office", and is busily brainstorming ways to stage his AICN comeback after having recently been banned by Harry Knowles and company. His development process is expected to take several weeks at most, at which time he will return to the 3rd floor of the library and re-establish his internet connection, making his glorious and fanfare-filled return to the digital halls of Ain't It Cool News accompanied by the heartfelt online cheers of his legions of adoring fans.

I'm not comparing Johannson to Glenn Close. My attitude toward Scarlett after watching her movies and listening to her album is that she's terrible at everything but looking good. But she's been in many high profile films with screen legends and she's in a highly anticipated summer blockbuster, playing an iconic comic character, and you don't see her do anything in that trailer but pose. Doesn't fill me with confidence about her role. Megan Fox would be a terrible actress in 70s era porn, but even the trailers for Jennifer's Body showed her speaking.

What's with all the metal hate? I'm personally tired of seeing action movies with soundtracks from talentless hacks, indie bands that are "indie" for a reason, or bad rappers. A whole soundtrack of Rock N Roll sounds good to me.

I understand people not liking rock, but you at least have to respect AC/DC. They've been in the game longer than most of you have been born.

    by the reluctant austinite

They've got a song called "War Machine" on their latest CD, "Black Ice," that I assumed would end up in the "Iron Man 2" promotion. In fact, I wrote to Gene Simmons of KISS as soon as the first "Iron Man" came out telling him to get on the phone with Favreau's people about using their classic track, also called "War Machine" off "Creatures of the Night," to use in the previews to introduce Rhodes' character in the sequel. If only Hollywood bigwigs would listen to us AICN geeks, the world would be a cooler place.

I was hoping for more classic old school punk/hardcore like that instead of washed up corporate metal. That said, AC/DC is the least objectionable of their ilk. by vic twenty

I have to admit, AC/DC used to be my favorite band. I haven’t gotten anything new of theirs in years, and when I listen to them now, I listen to the old stuff – Highway to Hell, Back in Black, For those about to rock… If you can honestly say those old ass albums don’t rock hard, you must be a douchebag without any idea of what hard rock is. Goodtime music, bitches! I know most of you are 12, but please, get some education.

    by the reluctant austinite

For all of you out there that think rock n rollers should retire at 30 years old, kiss my ass. Tony Stark is a gear head; a billionaire gear head, but still a gear head. He loves cars and heavy metal. Downy Jr. (and thus Tony Stark) is 45 years old, and it makes sense he would enjoy old school heavy metal. He might also listen to Lady Gaga in his sports car, but when it comes time to get dirty in the garage working on the new suit of armor, he's going to pick AC/DC every time.

They've sold more total albums than Michael Jackson worldwide, if you need a reference, and 'Back in Black' is the 5th best selling album of all time. They also consistently have one of the most attended AND highest grossing tours when they go out.Oh, AND THEY WRITE AND PLAY THEIR OWN FUCKING MUSIC LIVE EVERY TIME ON STAGE.If you don't like AC/DC, I'd love, LOVE, to hear what you think is good.

    by themandrakeroot

Since when? AC/DC has never been a metal band, it's called Rock and Roll. And they sure are a bit repetitive, but anyone who doesn't enjoy Back In Black has NO taste for good rock music...it's a classic album, through and through.

And whoever said that Brian Johnson is like the Rod Stewart of rock is an IDIOT. Rod Stewart at one point was one of the best ROCK AND ROLL singers ever. His vocals for The Faces, and The Jeff Beck Groups first two albums is nothing short of masterful, one of the most powerful blues voices you will ever here. But your probably one of the assholes who thinks his career started with The Great American Songbook.

by the dolphins are in the jacuzzi

They obviously wouldn't know good music if it slapped them in the face. As for them being repetitive, plenty of great artists have been repetitive. The Ramones, mentioned several times here, knew about 2 1/2 chords and used them in every song. The Cult, The Jesus & Mary Chain, most of Nine Inch Nails...hell, even Chuck Berry could be called repetitive. All great bands, and several of them are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (and most of the rest of them probably will be someday). So, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Rock on.

I get having different tastes in music, but it's pretty rare (I've found, anyway) to like two staples of classic rock/metal and hate a third.awardgiver, Jerry Lee Lewis was born in Louisiana and married his 13 year old cousin . . . great musician and pillar of rock & roll, but if you're gonna talk about 'white trash,' let's try and be accurate about all parties, ok?Plus, you know AC/DC started in 1974 and didn't even have a release in the States until Highway to Hell, their 6th studio album, in 1979, right? Doesn't exactly sound like company pop band to me...Also, born and raised in SoCal, so nice try on the redneck stuff, and: "white power"? Wow... good luck out their dude.

  • Fuckin' amazing. Never would have predicted it and even though I liked D9 more, I think the fact that we have an original sci-fi film as the highest grossing of all time once again, it deserves a TB. If only to rub it in the faces of the douche-nozzles who predicted doom. Also, am I wrong, or is this the first fucking time nearly every article about a movie's box office gross mentions ticket inflation? Did they do that for TDK? Hell, did they do it for Titanic? I don't think so, but maybe I'm incorrect.

Misfits better than samhain? hellz yea! Danzig better than Samhain? No, not quite. The only good songs from the band's catalog would be "Mother" "Dirty Black Summer" and Glenn's ballard "Sistanis" other than that, it's OK.Out of the three thrashers, i would give the nod to Slayer which I listen to more than 'deth but that doesn't mean that Megadeth is inferior to both Metallica and Slayer, each have their own plus and minusis. There are songs that get repeated play on my 'pod and there are songs that are instantly deleted from my playlist.Megadeth is perfect when using the XB360 Custom soundtrack when playing certain games however I'm not too keen on the guitar solo during songs."Psychotron" and "Holy Wars" were inspired from Marvel characters Deathlok and Punisher respectively, so already they get props from me. Metallica (inspired by The Misfits)have great cover songs be it the ramones' "Commando" or the "fits' "Last Caress' but their ballards are lacking IMO.Slayer delivers the goods and are very influentual, however too many songs about Satanism and nazism is fucked up. (Lemme get this straight, It's OK to have their music out there, but when Ice-T has a song about the injustice of Police Brutality, it gets pulled off the shelves?!?)Fucking double standard, only in America. LMMFAO!what's fucking pathetic is how some of you ppl are overly defensive because some of us don't take highly to a Aussie Rock Band that although successful in their own right, can't compare with many Rockers from yesterday or today. And anyone that is quick to assume AC/DC haters are into EMO or Nickleback is a muthafucking idiot.Case dismissed!

You are a fucking moron. 1) AC/DC are Australian with an English vocalist. 2) Most of the biggest "classic rock" acts i.e Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin etc. were not American. Real rednecks, eh? Plus Brian Johnson (DC vocalist) is the salt of the Earth, no pretentions, just a genuinely nice guy. Not a bigoted redneck. What a douchebag you are, seriously.

WTF? How the hell can you say that "Holy Wars" was inspired by the Punisher? It was about Palestine. Have you ever listened to the lyrics, or even read a Punisher comic? Or am I missing something here?

Re: Holy Wars The Punishment Due

    by stalkeye

I know the song was about war in the Middle East, however the lyrics was influenced by the Punisher This song is inspired by the Marvel comic book, "The Punisher," which Mustaine no longer reads because "it's been commercialized."

Wage the war on organized crime
Sneak attacks, repel down the rocks
    Behind the lines
Some people risk to employ me
Some people live to destroy me
    Either way they die.

They killed my wife and my baby,
    With hopes to enslave me
    First mistake... last mistake!

Next mistake... no more mistakes! Thanks for playing! :P

Your post is nothing short of a contradiction.Jerry lee Lewis and Elvis could be considered Rednecks, oh and they are almost in the same catagory as Polanski.Underage women?!? WTF?now ask Chuck D (of public enemy) what he thinks of Elvis.*snicker*White Segragationists? Back in the day, the Southern Man protested rock n roll as they deemed it to be the devil's music..or the real reason would be music made by Blacks. But as a consilation for your ignorance, it was the Blacks that founded/created Rock and Roll. Please put more thought before you post.

"They killed my wife and my baby, With hopes to enslave me" Frank Castle's family are caught in the crossfire of a mafia shootout, there was no attempt to "enslave" Castle. BTW I agree about the solo, Marty Friedman (and about a million other guitarists > Angus Young!)

    by stalkeye

Dave incorporated some references of Punisher to blend in a song about middle eastern conflicts.Holy Wars is NOT soley based on Punisher, but 'deth had paid a lil homage by sneaking that one in.Great song!

    Megadeth Vs Metallica

    by stalkeye

I personally favor 'deth as it appeals more to my tastes. A lot of the songs are about the social injustices here and abroad and I really can't say the same for Metallica. What I also like about the band, is that it's a perfect revenge tale, Mustane was kicked out of the Band (Metallica) and started his own venue that rivals metallica.Sure talica is a more viable commercialized success, but that doesn't help too much with the line up's shitty reputation; The Napster controversy,Hetfield being a racist fuckwad and then there's all the boozing and bitching (Hetfield vs Axl Rose) and lackluster Albums as of recent starting with St anger. The only good song from their latest album is Judas kiss and maybe, just maybe All nightmare Long.Sure mustane had mentioned that The Punisher was too comercialized, yet he goes and make a song about a very popular Videogame. (Here's a hint: it was the xbox360's system seller and I'm not talking about HALO.)Still all and all, great bands deserving of praise.BTW I also listen to Disturbed,White Zombie,Classic Soul and ol school Punk and Rap. Ergo, feel free to counterattack and bash my tastes in music if it makes ya feel better guys. (0:

    Megadeth Vs Metallica

    by captainbass

Again, I agree! From a musical standpoint, Megadeth are way better than Metallica, but probably aren't as accessible for most people. I don't rate Metallica as highly as I used to since "The Black Album". I think they sold out for the money and lost a bit o what made them great. Just about everyone I know recoils in horror when I say "...And Justice For All" pisses over anything that came after it but I like my metal to be metal, not watered down pop-rock with some country flavour! But hey, that's just me. Back on topic, IM2 looks good, ScarJo = HAWT!

    Metallica > Megadeth. No Contest.

    by laserpants

I'm talking 80s Metallica. Everything Metallica has done from the 90s on up has been terrible to the point of embarrassment. But their 80s stuff? Untouchable. Master of Puppets is one of the greatest albums of all time.AC/DC's one song is pretty fun, but since they've only written one song, it's hard to take them seriously as anything other than a quaint novelty. But either way, again, Back In Black sounds WAY better played back at half speed. Seriously! It actually sounds amazing that way... especially whilst in the depths of an extended lean.

It's pretty obvious by this talkback that most of you do not - nor will you ever - understand the HUGE differences between Rock'n'Roll, Rock, Hard Rock, Progressive, Metal, Death Metal, R&B, Funk, etc. AC/DC is decent mixture of Hard Rock and Rock'n'Roll. While many consider Led Zeppelin to be Metal, in truth, they were Rock'n'Roll - and sometimes Folk Rock, sometimes, Blues, sometimes Progressive, sometimes Rockabilly, Country, and even Madrigal. Get a clue kiddies, some of the stuff you call Rock today isn't even close. And it is kids like you who have influenced the nomination board for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to include shit that is NOWHERE close to Rock'n'Roll. Get a clue - maybe you can buy a vowel.
