Possibly the most underrated score of all time. Seriously, that music is haunting, memorable and all around awesome.

The main theme of The Taking Of Pelham 123 is great!

And the score for THE CONVERSATION is brillant

    by asimovlives

One of the ebst and most over-looked movies directed by Coppolla. A crying shame it's not better known.

I can hear Pelham's score in my head...

    by eustisclay

...reading the article. That's another reason I can't stand remakes. Anyone got the 2009 version in their head right now? There are few scores I'm impressed with anymore. Think of Jaws and Rocky. If those films were made today, they may have still been good films but I doubt the soundtracks would be near as memorable. The score for 76's King Kong still goes through my head from time to time. The 2005 version? I couldn't think of it to save my life, and I liked that movie.

    Re: Parallax View

One of my favorite '70s thriller scores, and I always forget that it was done by Michael Small (also a great score for Marathon Man, also), not David Shire.

And any mention of Shire's work on The Conversation

    by skimn

would have to include Walter Murch's brilliant audio design and sound editing.

His score for STRAIGHT TIME is also great.

It really evokes the Seventies when you here it.

"All the President's Men" is already available on CD. It's paired with Michael Small's unfortunate score for "Klute" (a lot of annoying moaning in the cues, a wrongheaded staple of Small and Schifrin around that early '70s time...otherwise I love those guys' scores --- somebody needs to release Small's "Parallax View" paired with his spare score for "Terminal Man"). Check out Amazon or Ebay for the "All the President's Men" CD.
