JOURNEYMAN Creator May Mount FX Version Of POWERS??

Published at: Jan. 23, 2010, 4:41 p.m. CST

I am – Hercules!!
“Journeyman” mastermind Kevin Falls is reportedly hours from forwarding to FX executives his pilot script for “Powers,” based on the funnybook by Brian Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, sources tell Ain't It Cool. If FX greenlights the Sony pilot, Michael Dinner (“Karen Sisco,” “Kidnapped”) is reportedly set to direct. The ongoing comic, launched in 2000, follows police department homicide detectives who specialize in cases connected to people with superpowers. Falls’ involvement was revealed Friday by Premium Hollywood. Find its story on the matter here.

    sounds cool!

    by Datascream

    Still miss Journeyman.

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 4:59 p.m. CST

I try to imagine what JettL's real life must be like,

    by deathraycharles

and a liberal mix of masturbation and crying seems the most likely scenario......

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 5:02 p.m. CST

    Fantastic!!!!

    by melchior42

Great books! And Journeyman was very underrated. I cannot wait to see this come to fruition.

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 5:07 p.m. CST

    I'm there...

    by Red_Right_Return

Hopefully it will display humans without powers that learn to be extraordinary just to take out the murderers. It can show that humans can adapt and overcome.

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 5:10 p.m. CST

I hope it is as good as Heroes

    by Rickety_Crickets_Bionic_Legs

Try typing that with a straight face. It's impossible.

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 5:19 p.m. CST

I hope it's better than Heroes

    by MrCleanAZ

I'll concede that Heroes has gotten some better this season, but I expect more from Kevin Falls.

I think it's hilarious that you've picked on JettL before he's even posted for this thread.<br><br>He's probably busy helping Kevin Falls edit and fine tune the script. LOL<br><br>Unfortunately, he's probably doing one of the things you mentioned - Ew.

    This could be Awesome

    by DKT

a procedural with superheroes? What's not to love.

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 5:53 p.m. CST

    Gotham Central

    by mrm1138

Too bad it couldn't be a Gotham Central series instead. I'm sure Warner Bros. would give some b.s. reason about not wanting competing Batman-themed properties (between a TV series and the film series).

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 5:55 p.m. CST

Y the Last Man series please

    by Miyamoto_Musashi

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 5:57 p.m. CST

I'm ready for the new trend in television.

    by Jayemel

Reality...procedural...what's next? I like me some reality and some procedural (definitely keep them around), but it's time for the next wave to come along and freshen the place up a bit.

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 6:16 p.m. CST

    Very excited. Love the comic.

    by Johnny Smith

Loved Journeyman. And Michael Dinner's best work to date is the Sons of Anarchy pilot. Listing any shows over that after his name is a disgrace to his work there.

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 6:19 p.m. CST

They'll have to cut out the nudity and gore

    by DOGSOUP

And man the gore was sick. Still though, get really good people to play Walker and Pilgrim and I'm giving it a go

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 6:19 p.m. CST

    ABC X-Men series please, Disney.

    Y The Last Man

    by CarmillaVonDoom

Last I heard it was a film that was coming up....DJ Caruso WAS attached....Shia probable for Yorrick (not bad casting if you ask me). On topic: Read the 1st arc of "Powers" didn't seem to cover any new ground, and I didn't take to the art style

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 7:17 p.m. CST

    Owain Yeoman...

    by Jiggah

would have been perfect for the lead role, if he wasn't already on The Mentalist.

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 7:31 p.m. CST

If it wasn't for Friday Night Lights...

    by DivisionPost

I'd be all about Kyle Chandler as Christian Walker. Since he's probably still busy shooting out Friday Night Lights in Texas, though, I'm not even going to dare to dream that one.

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 8:19 p.m. CST

    Sorry, Adelai Niska...

    by MCVamp

You'll be lucky to get a half-assed X-23 series and a POWER PACK sitcom. Which is bullshit, because NEW MUTANTS could be a great movie or series. Shit, for that matter so could POWER PACK. If done correctly.<br><br>And that won't happen.

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 8:45 p.m. CST

but seriously this show could be great

    by JettL93

journeyman was a great show and a missed opportunity by NBC not letting it run for a few seasons

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 8:50 p.m. CST

    my apologies Jett

    by CarmillaVonDoom

    i was misspoken xoxo

    by Immortal_Fish

And in good hands! Then there is the news about AMC's Walking Dead. And the weekend's only just started!

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 9:14 p.m. CST

Ah, so THAT's the secret new writer

    by Cinemanimetal

I liked Journeyman though I had problems with it. I love Powers (though I have yet to read its newest run even though I bitched about its long absence while it was gone). I thought from issue 1 that this would make a great TV series. I'm just glad that it is finally getting that chance!

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 9:14 p.m. CST

    will only be great if....

    by brabon300

at the end of every show there is a letter column with the most inane comments ever put to page<p> if done right, this show could be fantastic

  • Jan. 22, 2010, 11:50 p.m. CST

I liked this show when it aired originally

    by RainesMaker

and it was called mutant x, err heros, err push the series... err

  • Jan. 23, 2010, 12:07 a.m. CST

    No problem CarmillaVonDoom

    by JettL93

I accept your apology, and I'm glad you have accepted that I love your mother and i'm not trying to be your new dad. I just wanna be you're friend. OK buddy ;)

    by nico_laos

It's off-the-wall shit like this that makes the book so memorable. Hopefully the writers will notice that.

    RainesMake

    by maxwell's hammer

You've obviously never read 'Powers', because it couldn't be any farther from any of the shows you mentioned, where the focus is on heroes foiling bad guys and fighting arch-nemises. In the world of 'Powers', the heroes are more like the dead-bodies someone discovers at the beginning of an episode of 'Law & Order', and Walker & Pilgrim are the Briscoe and Logan sorting through all the tangled personal problems and mundane implications of people with super powers. Quite clever really.

  • Jan. 24, 2010, 2:58 p.m. CST

    oh, and also...

    by maxwell's hammer

...there is occasional hot monkey sex.

  • Jan. 24, 2010, 4 p.m. CST

It could be good on FX. I'd like to see it animated.
