With the return of “The Office” tonight, this might be a good time to point out a few things:

* “The Office” remains NBC’s top-rated scripted series.

* Without “The Office” as a lead-in last week, “Community” overtook “30 Rock” for the first time ever.

* “Chuck” is currently NBC’s third-biggest show.

* "Trauma" and "Mercy" both just hit series lows while "SVU" hit a season low.

* “Heroes” fell to another all-time low Monday. It now ranks between the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of the now-cancelled “Jay Leno Show.”

Tonight on “The Office”:

6.14
“The Banker”
Written by Jason Kessler.
When a potential buyer comes to Dunder Mifflin, Michael, Dwight, Andy and Pam pull out all the stops in hopes of impressing him with their high profile contacts. Michael reminisces about all the great times they have had in the office.

In two weeks:

6.15
“Sabre”
Written by Jennifer Celotta.
When Sabre comes in to take over Dunder Mifflin, Michael struggles to accept Sabre’s new policies. Pam and Jim have an interview for a local daycare they really want to get into. Andy and Erin work on a welcome song for Sabre as Erin waits for Andy to ask her out. Guest star: Kathy Bates.

The supersized “producer’s cut” of Dec. 10’s “Secret Santa”:

“Community”: 8 p.m. Thursday. NBC.
“Parks and Recreation”: 8:30 p.m. Thursday. NBC.
“The Office”: 9 p.m. Thursday. NBC.
“30 Rock”: 9:30 p.m. Thursday. NBC.

    by snowtires

I feel like there's no way that the bosses from this new company will be cool with there being two managers at the Scranton branch. I feel like one of the only logical directions that they could go would be to keep Jim on as full-time manager and demote Michael, back to a salesman.

What I dig about Modern Family, is that it's about a family unit, like every single sitcom in the last few decades, but manages to put really fresh spins on characters. Community is funny, but it just put oddball characters together from different places of life and let them bounce off each other. MF still feels like a family, but we don't have the goddamn tired cliché of "smart mom keeping her goofy husband under control and caring for her bright, but problematic kids." They casually discuss which kid is the dumbest, Al Bundy has a golddigger trophy wife and the "family sitcom" feels fresh again. they're just fun to watch. And I wouldn't call it overrated - one or two posts in the sitcom talkbacks is not hype.

my 3 favorite comedies on TV at the moment.Modern Family is fucking CONSISTENT, too. the laughs are just non-stop. when Phil was in the hospital, this exchanged just KILLED me. Luke asks him if he was scared to go to surgery:
Phil: When was the last time you saw your old man scared?
Luke: When you walked into that spider web … when we were playing with the Ouija board and the wind blew the door shut…
Phil: That wasn’t the wind buddy, we brought something forth.seriously? that was fucking hilarious. the first episode, with the gun that kept going off. oh my god, it's just hilarious.

2 things flaming. I am not saying that the show is not good, but overrated. Better than 30 rock, and maybe tied with the Office, but Community and (damn, I never thought I would say this) P&R are golden. Office may never come back, not until Pam cheats on Jim with Michael. You know they have set that up. Her art exhibit. MS Paper Company. Dundy Awards. She is not just being nice.

it's the show I always look forward to the most out the four NBC Thursday comedies even though I think Parks & Rec is a little "better" (whatever that means).

One thing though, has anyone else noticed how often Joel McHale/Jeff is referred to as being hot? It seems like every episode has some mention of what a great-looking guy he is. Don't get me wrong, he seems like a handsome enough fella but the characters interact with him like he's Brad Pitt or something. Perhaps I'm over thinking it. As Dean Pelton says, "This better not awaken anything in me."

    by ravex

haven't watched tonight's 30 rock yet, is murray in it?

oh, and david constabile has got quite a fucking range. I watched all of the the wire, conchords and damages; and yet, it took me about 15 minutes of office to figure out why is that bank guy so familiar. can't wait to see his character in next season of braking bad.

Community has found what makes a great comedy -Heart.

    by keepfuckingthatchicken

Community has grown into one of the best ensemble casts on TV and the comedic writing has been outstanding because they have found, in less than half of a season, the perfect balance of heart and comedy. Troy and Abed at the end of the episodes always keep the comedy going and tonight's was no exception. Britta finally got some good character development tonight as she was a little boring and 1-D for awhile, but this episode made her likable again. Office HAS been sliding and they need to end the show in 2011. P&R, Community, and 30 Rock make me laugh on a continuous basis. Office has me SMH too much...the last decent episode was the company conference with the stock shareholders then before that was the wedding. Nothing else stands out this season.

Still love The Office. People just don't

    by dingbatty

handle character development and status quo change, much. Look at how Brits still moan about the last few seasons of Red Dwarf. They wanted it to just be Lister being a slob yob ad infinitum.I've only ever seen The Office on DVD; never with the commercials, and doled out each week. It plays better in a marathon without the interruptions.

    PUDDING!!!!

The NBC comedies are funny and all, but nothing made me laugh harder than that tonight. Very good ep of Supernatural.

Was this the 100th ep or something???

    by mrhazard

And the reason why Community is so funny is the writing and the actors. The whole show has a comedic rhythm thats incredibly entertaining IMO. The show seems to be hitting its stride in the past couple months. Also maybe this is just me but the show has a positive vibe on the surface but its kind of dark to the core (in a subtle way if that makes any sense)... I mean most of the characters are losers at a community college. It's light and upbeat but tragic at the same time (but maybe Im looking too deeply here)...Simply put it's like a bizarro Saved By The Bell...

    Clip show- Boooooooo

    by thatswhatshesaid

Clip shows had there place back in the day without youtube and complete season DVD's readily available for fans. They just don't work anymore and to come back after 6 weeks with one is just weak. The only thing this episode did for me was remind me how good the earlier shows were and how ok they are now. I am no hater and a huge fan of the Office, but have to admit even watching Steve Carrell tonight his acting seems really forced lately.

NBC tried something once again and it failed

    by jettl93

NBC had an almost 2 month hiatus from the office, so they thought put on a clip show, hype it as a new episode and everyone will tune in to watch, however it was another bonehead move by the cock network, they would have been better off just mimicing last thrusdays line up and giving us a double episode of Parks, community or 30 rockAnd I love community, but i get the vibe that NBC will never appreciate the show, they'll continue to renew it, but treat it like crap by moving it around or not promoting it enough...nbc never thinks of the future, the office and 30 rock are the thursday strong holds now, but both shows are nearing their ends in a few years, NBC needs to lock down community so it can one day take over the 9 pm slotOverall it was a solid thursday line up with Park's episode being the best and offices being the worst. community and 30 were average episode with community being slightly better

Well, the clip show WAS disappointing,..

    by homer sexual

But I think the last two seasons of the show have been as good as ever. Season 4 was the only bad season, ever since last year it's been very funny.

I wasn't thrilled about Jim and Pam getting together, or Jan leaving, or any of that, but it's all been funny. Michael Scott Paper Company one of the series best storylines ever.

No way is the Office on a slide, but the clip show...yeah, that blew. But I didn't remember the "That's What She Said" about Phyllis at the picnic. I am still laughing today about that one.

    Dwight Started the Fire

    by koolerthanjesus

Some of the funniest 5 minutes of the Office was Dwight starting the fire drill and everyone panicking. Angela throwing the cat through the ceiling was one of the funniest scenes on tv ever.
