‘Quit Being A Bitch!!’ Herc Laughs Incessantly At Aziz Ansari’s Hour-Long Sunday-Night Comedy Central Stand-Up Special!!
I am – Hercules!!
You know Aziz Ansari as one of the three writer-performers on MTV’s genius-y “Human Giant,” and for his work with other people’s material in grotesquely underrated projects like “Funny People” and “Parks and Recreation.”
It turns out Ansari also does stand-up, and dang funny stand-up at that. As Jack Bauer completes his Sunday-night torture missions at 10 p.m., all are encouraged to record “Intimate Moments For A Sensual Evening” on Comedy Central.
His routine about sheet thread-counts is a riot. It arrives around the five-minute mark. Listen carefully. If you don’t laugh, there may be no laughter in you.

it was funny..

Good morning Herc
-
i dont get cable. however aziz is one of my favorite comedians right now. damn i really want to watch this i will have to check the net.
-
I guess Herc and I just have wildly different senses of humour.
-
I'm sorry people but I just don't find Aziz Ansari funny. Him and John Oliver make me avoid the Daily Show past John Stewart's intro like the plague. Ansari seems to belong to the school of comedy that if your joke doesn't get a reaction just say it LOUDER. While Oliver just cusses with a british accent which I guess just cracks some people up.
-
It's sad thinking of the heydays of the Daily Show with Colbert, Carell and Lewis Black(when he was still funny).
-
He refuses to act in parts that would depict him as a stereotypical Indian. And his "Fuck Imax" blog article was epic
-
I do enjoy the guy on Parks and Recreation - similar to his short lived character on Scrubs. Will Raaaaandy be showing up on the special?
-
Aziz Ansari isn't on The Daily Show, that'd be Aasif Mandvi, I guess they all look alike huh? And by "they", I mean comedians.
-
He wants his voice back, but is happy you didn't steal anything remotely funny from him.
-
Funny dude. Rare that I agree with Herc on anything.
-
I think I finally figured out who he is but the overall effect kind of a shrug. He doesn't irritate me instantly like a Danny McBride grinding a movie to a halt, but he has not blown the funny roof off da joint. I guess what I'm saying is... who is this guy again and why do people care?
-
...havent seen any of his stand up (cept for the clips thats associated wit the one posted, they were ok) but I like him...Tom is hilarious on Parks ("on a scale of 1 to chris brown how angry is he"...wait, does AICN even who Chris Brown is?)...
-
I believe this is the same material as in his new cd of the same name. Which reportedly will be on sale in the amazon mp3 store for 3.99 tomorrow.
And since someone mentioned John Oliver, people should check out his Bugle podcast on itunes. Free and hilarious. -
I had the pleasure of seeing him perform at the UCB theater as well as at the Largo last year when he was prepping for this show. I hope this stand up really breaks him out. Can't wait to have his material available to show to my friends instead of shitting it up by trying to reinact it from memory. Aziz is going to have a very good year.
-
If you wait to watch this until after "24"...you'll miss it. "24" goes from 9-11 tonight. Just FYI
-
When I first saw him on Scrubs, he annoyed me. I know it's part of the character he played, but he still bugged me...and then, since he became, essentially, the same useless douchebag on Parks and Rec (which I rarely watch)...the annoying-ness continued.
-
Are we really supposed to be excited to see a spinoff movie from a movie that was shit to begin with?
Also, I thought his part in Observe and Report was overhyped. -
and the standup special is good too... i'm watching at 1AM and they're not editing out the cursing.
-
All the stuff about his cousin Harris...wow. Hilarious. I'm a huge fan of this guy between this stand up and his character on parks and rec. hes the real deal. funny motherfucker.
-
Saying fuck ten times in a row and making nothing but dick jokes does not a funny comedian make.
-
Of the type of pseudo-comedians that get high school jocks' dicks hard, like Dane Cook. In that regard, it is a great character.
-
I think you were mixing eastern and central times or soemthing. The first showing of the special coincided with last hour of 24. Luckily I DVR'ed the 1 am replay.
-
and the thread count had me laughing. I never liked him until I watched the stand up tonight. Funny guy.
-
It's ending in 15 minutes right now too, but I'm too tired to watch tv. The billboard over by my bank is utterly, perfectly hilarious though, title and photo.
-
He DEFINATELY knows what I'm talking about." The Randy "doc" on the Funny People DVD is almost worth owning the disc for. Yes, of course it's a parody, the cheesy catchphrase, the breakdown of timing and delivery...I think Dane Cook may of seen this think and thought it was real.
-
Just saw your head, didn't read your post.
-
the stuff about his cousin and the facebook history group, as well as the stuff about his other cousin and kanye....funniest shit ever.
-
...by judging this guy's stand-up based on characters he played in movies they didn't like. This special was the best stand-up comedy I've seen since Eddie Izzard's and Chris Rock's work from the late 90s.
-
Does anyone else hear Mitch Hedberg in his delivery?
-
...didn't laugh. He was into the "Harris" bit and was going on and on about Facebook posts. It just wasn't funny. And I say that as someone who actually likes Aziz. The Human Giant stuff is good, and I think he's a likable guy, but nothing I saw last night or in the embedded clip above really did anything for me. And yeah, he skirts dangerously close to Mitch Hedberg in his delivery at times, but without a fraction of Hedberg's wit. Sorry Herc. Aziz is alright, but let's not start throwing around the word "genius" just yet.

Herc also thinks Entourage is better than Arrested Development
by fastcars
So...keep that in mind.
-
I think you guys have this guy confused with Asif Mandvi of the Daily Show. Asif Mandvi != Aziz Ansari. For the record...
