Report: NBC Affiliates Saw 25% Newscast Decline During LENO Era!! Tales of NBC Pinheads!!
I am – Hercules!!
NBC affiliates would have lost an estimated $22 million over a three-month period if NBC stuck with “The Jay Leno Show,” according to research firm Harmelin Media, which indicated local affiliates saw their late news audience drop by an average of 25% in November compared with the previous year in a key advertising demo. Find all of the Associated Press’ story on that matter here.
In other late-night news, I thought I read Jimmy Fallon will appear on “The Jay Leno Show’s” horrible 10@10 segment Thursday, presumably to signify that he’s on Team Jay, but now I'm told it's actually Jimmy Kimmel who's on the segment tonight.
When I thought it was Fallon I was reminded of how NBC forced Letterman to book Leno shortly after Leno was named Johnny Carson’s successor as host of “The Tonight Show”:
Conan O'Brien, meanwhile, has invited notorious Leno-hater Howard Stern to appear on “Tonight.” Stern says he'd love to do it if he didn't have to fly to California.
Here’s Dave with “Tales of the NBC Pinheads” from Wednesday night:
What NBC ran at 10 p.m., autumn 2008:

Tuesday: Law & Order: SVU
Wednesday: Law & Order
Thursday: ER
Friday: Lipstick Jungle

Did NBC Have a Choice?
-
and Fallon is not far behind in that thought.
-
I'd love to see Stern on Conan tearing Leno a new asshole, but can NBC "brass" keep a guest off if they know that's going to happen?
-
I think that may mark the end of NBC's late night chat shows. Because seriously, who the fuck do they have left that can compete with ANYONE?
-
non-stop for 5 years ... I'm sure he thinks it's hilarious now that everyone sees this.
-
NBC is really pushing the Leno replacing Andy Richter as Conan's sidekick angle. Andy is of course not happy with this, but NBC is reportedly set to over him 250 million dollars to resign as Tonight show announcer and sidekick
-
Where do find that Leno is leaving the network?
I figured that he's reinheriting the Tonight Show. -
Just fuck off already.

Leno is not leaving the network, he's taking over as conan's sid
by jettl93
at least according to my well place sources, i'm attempting to veryfy this info now, so take it as a rumour for the time being
-
sidekick. Geez whats with the character limit?
-
$250 Million?
Can you not think through your lies before posting them?
Conan MIGHT get $40 million from his contract. Andy couldn't get $400,000.
Dope. -
and firing andy woukld be a breach of contract, so 250 million is not an unreasonable offer to have him resiegn. NBC feels that by making Leno the new sidkick that will gibve them a chance to keep both hosts
-
...JettL, I have never addressed you before and probably won't again. You're clearly enjoying this thing you do, it doesn't bother me and so I have no reason to. But unlike most of the little imaginary scenarios you create for yourself to appear in this one in no single place swerves close enough to reality to not absolutely reveal your ignorance to even the most casual reader. 250 million would be an unreasonable amount for breaching the contract of Leno or Conan. It is more money, for instance, than total ad revenue from both Leno and Conan's shows since this experiment began. At the moment NBC most certainly doesn't have deep pockets. If you read any trade publication you would know the reasons why. You don't have to be an insider who has contributed, across studio and representation lines to almost every blockbuster of the last decade to read these publications, but that fictional person would, in fact, be reading them. I'm not asking you to stop what you do. It's clearly important to you, and sometimes it has even made me laugh. But this one is too stupid. It's not saying Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been cast for a part that doesn't appear to exist in a movie that is so far from being made that no contracts would be signed for talent yet, most especially a well under the title supporting role. On this one you're wandering through weeds of ignorance that even the most casual reader of EW or Lainey's Gossip can identify. You're suggesting a ridiculous solution, one which would never be entertained for even a heartbeat by anyone involved, and adding the cherry on top of a quarter billion dollar payoff to a wheelman whose entire contract is not one one hundredth that amount. I'm not saying stop. I'm saying do enough research before you make up your story to make it at least credible-lite.
-
I suppose Fallon wants to be the host of the Tonight show after Jay dies. If this happens, we will have to rise as one and slay him.
-
needs to come down with the flu or something really quick. If he doesn't call in sick and goes on Leno it's going to be something that sticks with him for the rest of his career. Or he can go on. Who really gives a shit? It's Jimmy Fallon. Him appearing on Leno isn't changing anybody's mind on the debate but it brands him an asshole if he looks too enthusiastic about Leno coming back. I also have to say that after watching Conan this week it almost seems like NBC is hoping he can stir the pot enough that Leno goes away in shame. The network has hours after the taping to see what he says and since it's getting on their own network it seems like they might be leaning towards Team CoCo even though Conan talks like he's already gone.
-
he basically stated his neutralness on last night show, basically saying that both conan and leno told him to "not take it too seriously" when he started the show. he did seem genuinely grateful that conan was sacrificing in part to keep him at 12:35.
-
Leno was very lame. There were a couple of semi-funny jokes in his monologue, but the rest of the show was awful. I know it may have been cool back in 1995 to show videos of people whacking their balls while skateboarding, but at least try to get something that wasn't scammed from youtube. Conan's show was much better (funnier monologue, funnier skits, and better interviews). And I hadn't really seen Jay in a while, but the guy really is looking quite tired now.
-
Since Jay's monologue will mostly be riffing on the daily news headlines...could it be people no longer feel the need to hear the same stories later on in the news. Because these days, the news rarely covers anything more in depth or with more insight than the local comedians anyway. I don't know. I just know I agree with the people who think Leno is not at all funny.
-
Heidi Klum asked Jay how he got married, and Jay told her that bascially he married his wife so they could both have health insurance. He then said he didn't get her an engagement ring until 17 years later. Kind of sums the guy up in a nutshell.
-
hahaha i was thinking the samething watching it.....(first time watching then turned it) WHAT an ASSHOLE, couldnt even treat his own wife right.

For the ten people that actually watch late night talk shows
by yackbacker
This must be a really big deal.
-
... the majority of his fans will turn on him. I can't believe no one is there for him to stop him from doing this. Right now Fallon's show has this sort of dangerous vibe about it, in that you never know when they're going to do a bit that is so weird you get that Andy Kaufman kind of response from the audience. That's because his audience perceives Fallon as a guy who the suits at NBC truly don't "get", and they like that. He's perceived as an outsider, and if the viewer finds out that this perception has just been some sort of scam, they will all turn on Fallon with a vengeance.. and for the rest of his sorry career. Someone tell Jimmy - DON'T DO THIS.
-
I know he's been ordered to go on, but he could insist that he should stay out of it.
-
I'm told now it's actually Jimmy Kimmel, and have adjusted the story accordingly.
-
I just had a rep at NBC confirm this info aswell
-
He has been talking about it all morning. God I hope it happens.
-
Is it really that difficult to step out of the spotlight? He has more money than he'll ever need. Why not sit back and enjoy it?
-
I never dreamed that standing in front of the camera and making grotesque faces for five minutes was good television.
-
We all weren't counting on Herc enough.
We're glad you got his back. -
He was actually funny and charismatic? He died inside when he took over the Tonight Show. And how awkward must that interview have been for Dave and Jay?
-
He has continuously told his audience for a year that Conan lost nightly to Craig Ferguson in the ratings. Conan lost once in seven years going up against Ferguson in the ratings. Can't he get his facts straight? Of all people, he has Jon "Jump The Shark" Hein on his show and that coward Hein refuses to tell Howard he's wrong (Howard on a regular basis asks Hein about ratings and he always knows)
-
Of course, had he confirmed BEFORE Herc, that might be a little more impressive.
-
I just didn't get a chance to post it until after
-
Yeah, that's the ticket!
-
Who will be directing Spider-Man "4".
We're all ears. -
He did say that about Craig's ratings yesterday, and someone corrected him on his show. Don't remember if it was Jon or Gary who gave him the info, but it was covered.
-
Love the Leno rant that howard replayed on his show this morning.

But this is a tonight show debacle '10 thread, lets try and stay true and on topicI have recently confirmed that andy ricjter has turned down the 250 million offer from NBC to resiegn, look slike Jay as Conan's sidekick MIGHT not be happening now
-
Not a huge Leno fan but Letterman and Stern are both bitter and pathetic on this. Stern's whining because Jay hired away Stuttering Jon and Letterman's still angry cause he lost the Tonight Show. Too bad, that's show biz. Leno shouldn't retire just cause Conan fans want him to. Put 'em all on at 11:35 on different nets and let 'em fight it out and we'll see who should or shouldn't retire.
-
In your room on the internet, I bet on that movie website forum again. Alright I coming in........ GODDAMMMNNIT JETT!!! Pull your pants up from around your ankles and take that out of your hand!! That's it, I'll have to add Aintitcool.com to Net Nanny.

...needs to compile a list of all of Mr. "I turned down a blackbox" JettL93's "scoops" into one big topic that can be picked apart as time goes on just to see what a big bullshit-artist he really is.
-
having jay and conan compete on a special episode of american gladiators, he who wins gets the tonight show. NBC is expecting huge ratings
-
I'll be the first to admit that not ALL of my scoops turn out true (but i am safe to say state upfront that my scoops are to be taken as rumours untill confirmed) but how can you sit there and call me a bullshiter after all the times i've been proven, i mean i was offered a black box and turned it down..turned it down goddammit
-
Good for him.
-
Inception = Batman 3 scoop to pan out with Leo as The Mad Hatter.
-
That Batman 3 scopp should be confirmed within 3 weeks, I was at WB yesterday morning and i can confirm they are holding a WB/DC entertainment conference soon to discuss ALL current DC films on slate
-
He just says and makes up whatever is convenient at the time to support his argument. He has been funny to listen to these past few days though.
-
Seriously. I think that CoCo is misdirecting his hate to Leno rather than NBC.
-
Leno shouldn't retire because of Conan fans...he should retire because he signed a contract SAYING he would retire. If he wants to do a different type of show, or be involved in some other way, fine. But Leno wants to take the buy out he received years ago (to retire) AND keep his show regardless of what the contract he signed says.
-
Say if Leno was to leave NBC, I venture to say that his Fox/ABC show would pummel CoCo's. So Conan should really just suck it up.
-
...You know, the one that got overwhelmed and Kirk-Leno had to save the day...
-
...Just ask NBC...

I love how all of these chimps like CoCo and Letterman talk about Carson's show as if it were High Art. Has anyone actually seen an episode of Carson? Ironically Leno's format was closer to the Beloved Johnny than Letterman or Conan..
-
I guess that this Conan does not know the answer to the Riddle of Steel!!!!
-
how in gods name is LENO saving the day?
-
..because he's not had to rely on Artie to help him phone in his show. It's almost like he's found a second wind for what looks to be his final year at Sirius.
-
Still have brains. Which is why Leno does so bad in the 10pm slot. People who stay up to watch the 11:30 show are almost exclusively old people who's brains have turned to mush and simply have insomnia and lack the taste to watch anything good. People who stay up and watch the 12:30 show are the ones who lit up big fat joints at 12. And there my friends, is an explanation of the demographics that the studios are just not willing to face.
-
I'm assuming that's something like old turkish lira, and not US Dollars, you lying sack of twice fucked camel shit?
-
1) you can't have a dumb fuck like Leno in the 10pm slot and expect him to do well. To the 10pm slot watchers, Leno is a walking caricature, an unwitting parody of a talk show host.2) The lowest common denominator is the target audience for the Johnny slot, you need to fill this with the dumbest shit on your schedule. If ABC were to simply run Bob Saget America's Funniest Home Videos reruns in this slot, or Fox to run a police chase footage show, they would destroy Leno's ratings. 3) 12:30-on is the hour of the pothead, so you need a weirdo like Conan to grab their attention.
-
2 nights after he ribbed Leno nostop on his own show? Burying the comedy hatchet, or does he have a punk up his sleeve?
-
Shows why he is the best in late night right now.
-
That about sums it up. And that's not being sarcastic, I mean I think that REALLY is how the audience stacks up. My only question is, which audience is watching Letterman? I'm thinking aging liberal baby-boomers who wanna feel hip and dangerous? What are your thoughts? Would Letterman have to segue to being as bland as Leno if he wants to keep his audience beyond the next few years?
-
You would think that maybe it might have affected the ratings of Conan too (Both in that people who watched it got their talk show fill, and those that didn't obviously weren't watching a stong 10 pm show, staying for the news, than Conan).
-
Will rate higher than Conan's. NBC will win the Late Night Wars and order will be restored in the Galaxy.
-
This whole controversy has made for some great television (at least with Conan, haven't watched Leno in a decade)...
-
Jan 14, 2010 12:31:40 PM CST
I blame the affiliates for having weak lead-outs for Jay.
by margot_tenenbaum
Jay Leno puts on the best damn show in show business but the LAZY affiliates do not provide strong enough programming to keep interest all the way through to Late Night. I say they give Jay the 11pm (10pm central) slot for some sort of national local news, comedy & variety program.
-
Are you sure? If Conan's stock goes down because of this, I can't see how Jay's won't either. The 10 pm slot will be a mess for a while. He's going to have a poor lead in. Even if he returns to 11:35 and wins the late night wars, for how long? Conan was the best choice they had for tonight show host for the long term. So when the eventual Leno retirement happens (and it's going to be sooner than later), who is going to host, Jimmy Fallon??? This whole fiasco has truly exposed Jay. As much as he's going to try to shake it off, he's looking more and more Nixonian (as Patton Oswalt has pointed out).
-
... That maybe Leno's poor performance at 10PM inititated the nightly decline that carried over into the subsequent news broadcasts and Conan?
BTW- is it me or has anybody else noticed that Leno seems a little more smug on his 10PM shows this week? -
I don't think the people running NBC can't connect Leno ratings drain effect on local news with the drain he may also have given Conan on the Tonight Show. As far as Jay being more smug, I have no clue. I will say that his show was terrible last night, and Conan's was classic. I hate to use cliche terms, but Conan's show is definitly getting the buzz (his ratings are going up), and Leno's not.
-
you dont know that..viwers are very fickle..NBC thought that they would follow Leno to 10 and they didnt...facts are this...Lenos show failed...causing the news and tonight show to get bad ratings because it was a poor lead in...if anything, NBC should let Leno go.put some prime stuff on at 10 and see what happens then...they really havent given conan the chance...the low overhead to lenos show is the only reason why its still on NOW...had it been a drama with these ratings...and like that ...gone!
-
Michael Jordan playing for the Washington Wizards. It's going to be ugly, and it ain't going to last too long.
-
...because what he stated earlier in this forum is freakin' hilarious.
-
I swear the god looked like he was in a coma last night. Maybe somebody stands above the stage and pulls strings attached to him like in Weekend at Bernies.
-
Last night's Leno was only the 2nd time I've watched it at 10 PM and I thought it was awful as well; and I missed Conan. Heidi Klum driving around on that lame green track thing should be fodder for Youtube not the other way around. I haven't been able to stomach Leno for years now and applauded the change-over until the ill-conceived Leno at 10PM annoucement. At that point I could only hope for abject failure. But to take a HUGE step backwards and bump Conan is worse. How much is NBC paying those idiots to make these decisions?
-
The reason why Jay was picked to replace Johnny and the reason he was number one for all those years is because like Johnny he has a great monologue. You can watch Jay and know what happened without watching the news. Jay is topical. Compare the others, they have very short monologues with a lot of lame humor. Jay filled in for Johnny a lot as guest host. It made a lot of sense to pick him over Dave. As has been proven for many, many years NBC chose right.
Now they want him back at 11:30 to be number one again. Will it happen? Who knows. If nothing else happens though everyone in late night is way funnier than they have been in years. Besides Jay and Craig, they have been consistently funny. -
Go Consie go! Fuck Leno, who's never been funny.
-
Leno spent a good portion of his show last night featuring on-line videos. Is he really that unoriginal. I mean it was basically the schtick Bob Saget did on ABC back in his America's Funniest Videos Days. Maybe next he can rip off Mystery Science Theatre by taking old genre movies and riffing on them while his chin silhouette appears in the foreground (maybe he's already done this).
-
What you ahve failed to realize is that NBC has been negotiating for me to write, produce and be Conan's side kick for close to 600 million. I so far have declined the offer becuse I feel that I should have 15% conrolling stock of NBC to do this for them. ANdy Richter is on board wiht me becoming side kick, but he will not move off the couch for Leno. If NBC meets my demands I have told Richter I woil write and star in a new comedy for him to be aired on FOX and ABC. This wil happen because NBC has deep pockets and my new girlfriend Natalie Portman thinks it's a fantastic idea.
-
Completely dependent on OJ, Clinton and other references from the '90s. Jimmy Kimmel of all people pretty much nailed a typical Leno monologue a couple nights ago.
-
Jett's post about turning down the black box, and then repeating it for dramatic effect, was pretty damn funny.
-
Leno compared the NBC situation to the war in Afghanistan. That's topical, but not very funny.
-
Considering Kimmel's lazy using Youtube clips has been co-opted by Leno.
-
The BBC is announcing that Matt Smith, who plays the 11th Doctor on Doctor Who, will be replaced by the 10th Doctor, David Tennant. Tennant will regain his place in space/time and Smith will be sent into the future...unless he goes to FOX.
-
At first I loved Letterman's take on the Conan-Leno-NBC debacle. But the more he rants on about it, the less his support for Conan seems (to me, can't speak for others) sincere. The way I'm starting see it, Letterman is just using Conan's position as an excuse for him rip into NBC to satisfy his own personal grudge.
As a huge Conan fan, I take exception to this. When this news broke, the most Letterman said about Conan was that "he was a very nice man." After that, its just been a continuous rant about how much NBC and Leno suck because they screwed him over all those years ago and less about how Conan is getting figuratively fucked in the arse.
And I now see Kimmel will be on Leno's show?? Jesus, does anyone truely and sincerely support Conan on this, or are all those late night hosts just in it for their own personal gain? If its the latter, then they're no different from Leno. -
I love Jay's humor. I'm old, I don't care, it's funny, funny not weird funny like Dave. That being said though there are different choices at 10pm than 11:35pm. Once you get to late night you watch Dave or Jay or Nightline or a rerun of something. Perhaps Jay's ratings had nothing to do with his show and had everything to do with more choices. Right now there is Dave, Conan and Nightline or reruns. Neither one of them are that funny, til lately, so there are fewer choices. Dave and Conan are cut from the same cloth. They are both weird funny. There is no choice.
-
Dude, I've been tapping that arse for the past 6 months! I knew there was another guy, didn't think it would be another talkbacker! Small fucking world!
-
I agree that's coming more from his hatred of Leno and NBC than any support for Conan. If anything, this whole mess has helped and will continue to help Letterman's ratings. And then if he comes out as someone who despises Leno, he may be hoping to gain some of the the Conan audience that won't be watching Leno. That being said, I think it's a good thing that he's calling out Leno and NBC. He's the only one who doesn't care (much more so than even Conan at this point) about what he says about the issue.
-
No one has mentioned what Dave said last night about having Jay, Conan, Jimmy F. and ever Carson on his show to settle their differences. I know it's just a joke but it was very funny. There was even a Jay in the closet joke. He was talking about eavesdropping not the other but I'm surprised you guys didn't jump on that one.
-
I wonder if that story by Letterman is true. I guess I'll have to pick up the Late Shift now and find out.
-
with as much obvious venom as he has in the past few days. He's always made a few little quips in the past, but now he's going after him with both barrels.
-

Letterman definitely knows what idiots the NBC brass are...
by jimmy rabbitte
He is a unique position to just torch all parties involved in this with extreme prejudice. After all he got screwed out of The Tonight Show first; and *he* was Johnny Carson's hand-picked, preferred successor. It's very telling that Carson made a handful of appearances on Letterman's show; but never associated himself with NBC or The Tonight Show again following his retirement.
-
Probably because the Leno's nice guy persona has once and for all been blown to pieces. Letterman's had his personal issues, but he's always come off as a jerk, so it's not a shock. More people are shocked when Jay Leno gets exposed (especially those unaware of how he originally got the Tonight Show).
-
It was like the ratings stories were there for only one thing: to point out how bad Jay Leno was doing. Nah, Hercules T. Strong would never been that vindictive and petty, would he?
-
That is why I believe that NBC deserve a flogging for this BS. I agree that The Jay Leno show was an abject failure. However, The Tonight Show Hosted by Leno was a resounding success. Ultimately, both Leno and CoCo got royally shafted.... CoCo more than Leno though...
-
Letterman loses the battle of morality against Leno IMHO...
-
I love this romanticization with Carson. I am sorry, for those young whipper snappers who are now citing Conan as hip and edgy.... I remember being of the generation that picked Arsenio et al over Carson....
-
How do we know Jay hasn't cheated on his wife. We wouldn't know about Dave had it not been for a blackmailing scandal. But back to the point, I'm not giving Letterman the moral highground, I'm just saying that Jay is percieved by most of America as Mr. Nice Guy. Dave was never seen as Mr. Nice Guy. I think in a lot of ways this is why Leno had a bigger audience. Now that he has been exposed for all to see, he's tarnished to a degree. It's like the Tiger Woods thing. He had a nice guy image, and now look at how loved he is.

Letterman got on national TV and admitted his mistakes
by margot_tenenbaum
because someone literally was blackmailing him. He didn't then go hide in a closet to eavesdrop on CBS executives in order to find out whether or not he still had a job.
Nobody is perfect, but my respect for someone comes from how they handle major life issues. Dave is a stand-up guy. Leno is a passive-aggressive douche who lets everyone else take the blame for his problems.
At least Conan straight up said 'I want the Tonight Show before I'm 50' instead of playing games and manipulating his way into the gig. -
Yeah I watched it and it wasn't groundbreaking or hip or whatever, but watch the interviews/comedy he did then and what Leno is doing now as an elder statesman of the talkshow business and it's like comparing Tolstoy to Jerry Springer.
-
Now it's being reported that Zucker is determined to invoke conan's non compete cause and keep him off the air for three and a half years. I love how this saga has turned into the late night tv version of wwe monday night raw with Zucker cast as Vince Mcmahon , Leno as Triple H (Triple Chin) and Conan as Stone cold (Stone Coco)
-
Is the bald guy on the letterman show? That is one annoying man. I'm in the U.K so the only American satire/ talk show we get is the daily show which is a shame because of the few clips i've seen of Conan, i've found him quite funny.
-
The Montreal Screwjob would be more appropriate. Zucker (McMahon), Leno (Shawn Michaels), Conan (Bret Hart).
-
How many fucking times, this floor is not going to mop itself. I know we said you could use the office computer on your breaks, but only after you had mopped the jizz from all the booths.
-
now its time to retire that big chin o his
-
the question is is NOW WHAT?does Leno go back and be the guy who knocked out conan? and be a punchlineor does he go away with some dignity?hes a big boy im sure he could conger up a sweet severance package.
-
I can totally see Jeff Zucker going on tv saying that NBC didn't screw Conan, Conan screwed Conan. -
When Jay's staff waltzed onto the NBC lot back in '92, they were extremely disrespectful of Carson and his people. I was at the studio then in the exec offices and knew all the players on both sides. While Jay's bombastic shit of a manager, Helen Kushnick, caused a ruckus, literally screaming at Carson's staff to move their shit out of the way, Jay was Mr. Smiley, gladhanding everybody and hiding behind her pitbull tactics. The Carson people -- those that didn't jump ship and clambered aboard Jay's program -- all thought Jay's staff were arrogant little shits. When Helen kicked the bucket in '96, Jay was forced to let his real nature show more and more. He's become quite the little weasly manipulator since.
-
Is that the last memorable thing he's done in the entertainment world before this whole mess was a one-off match with him and Eubanks against the NWO back in the late 90's WCW.
-
According to TMZ, they're saying that NBC and Leno inked a new deal for him to host the Tonight Show again from 11:35 to 12:35.
-
and I'll be watching the CBC coverage of the Winter Olympics. Fuck NBC and Leno. Go CoCo and the Late Show with David Letterman!
-
Come poop on NBC with me.
-
"... after all the times i've been proven, i mean i was offered a black box and turned it down..turned it down goddammit".

As one that finds JettL93's schtick about as funny as Jay Leno.

Stop calling Letterman classy. He's a sexist, cheating,
by coughlins laws
arrogant, mean old man. He makes jokes about 14 year olds getting raped in front of 60,000 people, he says that politician's he doesn't agree with look like "slutty flight attendants", and he cheated on his gf/wife above the stage he works every night for 20 years. Letterman is a sleazy scumbag. Call him funny if you want (only 2 or 3 million people in this country watch him), but he's ANYTHING but classy...

He apologized to Palin as well. Score: Letterman 2, Leno 0.
by margot_tenenbaum
Palin never apologized for implying that the future President of the United States an Islamic terrorist who was in league with people who killed 3,000 Americans. I guess its only slander when its people you disagree with.
It doesn't surprise me that Leno defenders are also fans of Palin. Both can dish it out but can't take it. -
Letterman only screwed over his wife, Leno is screwing over ten or twenty times that number of people by what he's doing. He could've walked away and spent his millions instead of screwing Conan and everybody who moved to LA. I'm sure you think Clinton was worse than Bush because he got a blow job even though Bush caused hundreds of thousands of deaths!

I am sad to say that CTV got the Winter Olympics up here this go-round. I'm sure you can still catch it, but be ready to hold down some puke.
And can I just add that I think Jett is hilarious and I don't want him to leave. Anyone who gets worked up over his antics really needs to relax. -

I'll find some alternative to NBC's Olympics coverage.

I'll watch skiing with commentary in german if I need to.

But this escalating feud does break my heart.

Letterman was clearly talking about the 18 year-old daughter.
by bigtuna
You'd have to be a moron not to know that.
-
because it's so clearly the NBC executives who are to blame. they fucked themselves with this mess. and sadly, no exec heads will roll for this. they'll keep their jobs and continue to make bad decisions. gee, it must be great to have a job where you never have to worry about being shitcanned for doing it piss-poorly.
-
Letterman meant the older daughter, he also never made any jokes about rape. he made a joke that Alex Rodriguez got her pregnant. you know, like her boyfriend did? hence the joke?Palin and other conservatives (and a few online doofuses) spun it into him making jokes about "raping a 14-year-old" when he did nothing of the sort.are we clear? don't just eat what's spoon fed to you by Fox News, kiddo. after all, they had you convinced Obama was going to lose, remember that? you are a grade-A moron.
-
Herc, thanks for posting the FUCKING hilarious "Hitler Learns..." video! Forget the fact that someone has too much time on their hands, each one they've made is classic!
As for Jay, it's clear that we in this country give losers and cheaters too many chances. I don't give a shit whether Jay is good or bad or sucks donkey dicks or gives reach-arounds to JettL, because ultimately if people find Jay funny, they will support him. Forget the fact that his image is tarnished - we'll all laugh with him when his show is good again and forget that all this bad stuff ever happened. We're too forgiving in this country to really worry about the power we stupidly give to these retards, retreads, and general cock yankers. Much like Saturn and Pontiac, 'Late Night' is a thing of the past - let it go people and read a book instead! -
bravo! everytime im about to scroll down for a rebuttal, i never make it all the way down because you already said everything i was thinking. Thank you.

I think that all factions here can agree that NBC fucked Letterman, Leno, and Conan... Way to go Peacock!
-
...and by that remark I take it this is your first encounter with Coughlins Laws. Allow me to present a primer... Coughlin's Likes: Palin, Leno, misplaced righteous indignation Dislikes: Letterman, comedy, rational thought. Enjoy.
