Still More LOST Details Spill Out Of Tuesday TCA Session!!
I am – Hercules!!
Just got an IM from the Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd revealing that Harold Perrineau (who played now-dead Michael) and Cynthia Watros (who played now-dead and still-mysterious Libby) will both be back for season six. (Somebody should ask who definitely WON’T be back this season.)
Another interesting tidbit: Terry O’Quinn apparently didn’t know he was no longer player Locke for a good while. (Maybe until he read the last few pages of the fifth-season finale script?)
And more “Lost” actors are commenting on the hugeness of the sixth season premiere. "I think I had to read it three times before it made sense," said Emilie de Ravin.
Find Hibberd’s evolving notes on the session here.

...black people are comin back!
-
I love LOST too
-
Oh yay you know it :D
-
Damn you, AtheistScum! Damn you to the Hell you don't even BELIEVE IN!!!!
-
We find out. February 2010.
L O S T -
FACT:This is the BEST SHOW EVER
FICTION:LOCKE IS A TOOL! -
Didn't he rip the writers saying they didn't know what they're doing? Didn't he call the show racist by not allowing a black man a happy ending as a good father? Didn't he complain he wasn't told in advance he'd be killed off?Usually when an actor rips his employers, he doesn't get much work after that.
-
I consider it the greatest show of all time. However, the writers have consistently said no one comes back from the dead. Not even Locke, and not even with the magic of the island. All these dead characters coming back has to mean the nuke worked, and we're now in an alternate reality where flight 815 landed at LAX.I just can't imagine where you go from there to a satisfying conclusion to everything we've seen to this point. I hope I'm wrong.
-
I love Lost as much as the next Lost fan, but I'm kinda concerned that the season premier may have been overdone.
If De Ravin had to read the script three times in order to understand it, then are viewers going to need to watch the episode several times too? -
If the show now centers on the plane landing at LAX and an alternate reality, then what happens to whatever Locke is now? Does he not exist in Locke's body anymore? Then why even start that story? Do the two realities exist side-by-side, and will we go from the Locke-led island to LA, then how is anyone alive on the island after a nuke goes off?
-
...or maybe she is just an idiot who cant understand simple story telling... or maybe it just really complicated lol...CHAWLIE!
-
Did she follow the show closely for the year her character was gone?
-
The timeline that we've all been seeing for the past 5 years WILL CONTINUE. Locke will still be at that Statue's Foot, Jack, Kate, etc will still be in 1977 and will eventually find their way back to the present. The ALT reality stuff will be the FLASHES, instead of flashbacks or flashforwards, there'll be flash-sideways. The ALT universe will eventually, further down the season, intersect somehow with the current timeframe. How? Not sure. It's not hard to comprehend thematically. The showrunners won't erase 5 seasons of development and do a complete reset.
-
Could we actually see Libby's story resolved.
-
Maybe now we get a little more WWWAAAALLLLTTTTT!!! action. Feb 2nd can't come soon enough.
-
The timeline continues. The nuke goes off. Roll credits, and the series is over.
-
He IS John Locke just from the Alt universe; just it was Charlie from the alt universe (different hair cut and clothes remember) when he appeared to Hurley at the start of season 4, just as it was Alt-Anna Lucia who appeared to Hurley when he sped through the red light when he was saving unconscious Sayid.(she told him that Libby said hi also) Just as it was Alt-Boone who appeared to Locke during his sweat lodge cure idea in Season 3, (he also showed Locke a glimpse of the Alt universe then) Just as it was alt-Christian Shepard who appeared to Jack in season 1. All these ‘ghosts’ died in the original universe but are still alive in the alt-universe these alt-characters also had no memory of there island adventures until the moment their alt (our original versions) died on or (in the case of strangled lock) off the island) once that happens the still living alt-version has the memory of both timelines and grants them the ability to communicate with certain gifted people in the original timeline, as they are both alive and dead at the same time. It is still true that “whatever happened, happened”, the swan station did exist and bring down flight 815 it also didn’t exist and didn’t bring down flight 815, It is still true that “dead is dead” as characters that have died remain dead (see John Lockes still unanimated dead body). My Guess is that Season 6 will concentrate on the nature of these 2 concurrent running realities, and the motives of the alive/dead characters.
So the alternate reality is caused by the detonation of the bomb at the swan site causing 2 separate timelines. One where the bomb detonation causes the 'incident' forcing the darmaa people to include some kind of machine to take care of the energy buildup problem which has to be released every 108 minutes. So miles was right in a sense, the losties actions DID cause the incident however the losties DID distroy the swan site creating and alternate history BOTH happened(happened!) confusing maybe?, entertaining for sure!!
Im pretty sure Juliet died when the bomb went off OR just as the bomb does goes off the time jumping losties do one last jump to the present but still on the island (“there coming”) there Juliet would still die from her injuries and give one last tearful farewell ( she wont materialise in solid earth either, because there is a big hole in the ground when the swan imploded when Desmond turned the key, we also got to see that crater in season 3 so its definitely there!) She may appear later as a ghost which I now believe to be travellers from the alt universe with memories of both.
And now Michael is coming back (or across as the case might be) . Walt is the exception though, he appeared where he couldn’t be and wasn’t dead but he may have been smokie those times, then again maybe not. And for GODS sake I wish people whingeing about the last 5 seasons being wiped out due to time travel negating everything so far would shut up. Its not going to work that that way.
One final thought. If the dead losties are still alive in another universe, maybe some of the still alive losties (Jack or all the ‘touched’ losties) are dead in the alternate universe.
-
We've been getting reports of Charlie, Boone, and many, many others, but this is the first time we're hearing about Michael and Libby.
-
is the one everyone WANTS to return. WHERE THE FUCK IS EKO???!!!
-
everyone does land in LAX like nothing happened and Micheal looks over to his right and sees a grown ass Walt.
-
The nuke does go off, but not in a sense that there's a nuclear explosion. It will effect whatever energy that lies in that hole in the bottom and there'll be a big flash and no explosion. Imagine how pissed Sawyer will be at Jack? Juliet seemingly dies for nothing and they seem to be stranded in 1977, until Richard and/or The Others come out of the jungle and help them get back to 200X. Mark my words, that's what's happening.
-
...you must be daft, cuz EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE (includin Eko) want PABLO AND NIKKI!...
-
It's Paulo, you ruhTARD. lol. Good one though.
-
...I totally forgot since he was dubbed take a shit guy on here lol... ah the good times when I hated LOST and loved Heroes... err what the fuck?
-
Have to wait and see though. Consider your words marked though
-
Hahaha. THAT'S How they know they're in an alternate timeline. "You're not my Son! My Son was a little kid when we got on the plane! WALT! WAAALLLTTT!"
-
You hated lost back in the day? for shame.
-
She's easily the most interesting character who's shown up in other people's flashbacks without getting flashbacks of her own. And she's cute too.
-
I heard that he wanted to return... apparently he can stomach Hawaii long enough to film a quick spot. He left the show because of Hawaii originally. I don't remember why...
-
Well, maybe marking was words was retarded, but I base these theories on several set reports, including filming at the Construction Site where the Others arrive and Jack and co. are still in their Dharma jump suits, and Claire comes out of the Jungle as well. Another theory is that Hurley has an item in his guitar case that he pulls out at the right time and stops the Others from killing the Losties and then they proceed to take them to the Temple. And then by episode 6, Sun, Frank, and Illana reunite with Jack, Kate, and co. in the "present"
-
...Im sorry, Nikki and Paulo need to come back just like any other char...I didnt have the satisfaction of hatin them cuz I started watchin on-and-off around the time the tailies met up wit the other losties... I know havin a char shoehorned in is bad, but I think they did further some storytellin on the island...plus, their deaths were cool......and yea, I use to hate Lost, my first ep was prob the last 2 eps of 1st season, and when they showed the ladder, I was blown (even tho I didnt even invest that much time to the show, chars, etc)... my feelings for lost changed around the time I seen Eko killed cuz that was cool and when Penny intercepted that signal or whatever... so yea, Im a recovered hater... Heroes suck it (I joke, I still watch it but they clearly lost the war to Lost)...
-
But only cause she's simplytoo busy with her own projects. Too bad. I'd kill to see her legs in one of those pink miniskirts again. I'd lick butter off her legs an enjoy the heart attack
-
They had better have a good fucking reason. After building him up to be the all-important leader, they screw him over like this!? SHAME! SHAAAME!
-
Seriously, next to Jack (and for me more importantly) Locke needs to have resolution to his story. His life needs to have been meant for something. And I believe that Locke more than any of them is a force of Good...in the end it will be him that makes the ultimate sacrifice and is the true hero.
-
Sorry dude, but that sounds like a horrible explanation.
-
The fact that we thought it was his destiny, but he's really just a pawn. He invented his own legend, believing it to selffulfilling, but he was really being played as a pawn the whole time. It's an amazingly poignant and shocking twist. Mr Black (Esau, whoever he is) played him to create a "loophole". I think it's perfect.
-
The actor playing Eko (don't expect me to spell his name) had just lost both his parents so he asked to be written off. I understand Abrams/Linendorf were real dicks about his leaving because they had big plans for him so they just let him get killed by Smokey.
On the flip side I understand he was a real pain to work with -
...he wasn't playing Locke for awhile. Rewatching season 5, it's obvious he's playing a completely different character and the performance is absolutely brilliant. Of course, Richard is the only one who notices.
-
This is unexpected news!! Now bring back Take a Shit Guy and all is well with the universe!!
-
Am I the only one who truly thinks she is ugly? She is stickly skinny, and I think she really has an ugly face. Then her character was a complete bitch as well. I honestly don't understand how people were attracted to her. But to each their own I guess.
-
That motherfucker better be back!
-
...she is sorta actress (if ya go for skinny girls), but I never understood people clamorin for Juliet (I understand the tig ol bitties part)...she was very homely or whatever, and her character was a BITCH... I hate Juliet and her never answerin question self... glad she "died" in the finale
-
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I love me some Elizabeth Mitchell, but I've been a fan ever since all her lesbian scenes with Angelina Jolie in Gia.
-
I enjoy her tits.
-
FROGURT!
-
Original Charlie was destined to die, and his fate could not avoid the power of course correction. Maybe Alt Charlie is destined to live, and nothing from a drug overdose to playing in traffic can kill him. The characters destined to die in one timeline will survive in the other and vice versa, and when the two timelines merge there is the potential for all previous characters to be together for the climax.
-
She has a perfectly voluptuous, gorgeous body. Her face on the other hand is up for debate. That chin is...yikes. But I'd still cut out a non vital organ to be with her.
-
In the end of Taken she is wearing a piece of string basically, and there isn't a curve to be found anywhere on her body.
-
refused to come back because of her other "projects"??? I guess they must be EPIC!
-
At what point does this all get completely ridiculous? If I need a guide to understand a damn TV show, then what fun is it? I've watched since Day One, but just how convoluted can it get? I'm no idiot, but seriously... I know people who have watched the entire first five seasons, TWICE, to prepare for this final run.
-
...thats why I suggest the "how to for dumbies" book people make one for Lost... cuz I know I dont get it all just by watchin it (thats why I love lostpedia)
-
Fair enough. I'm going by her appearance in the first two seasons of Lost. Hollywood actresses tend to stop eating once they get a hint of fame. I'm looking at you, Lindsay. I don't remember what she looked like in Taken but she may have starved herself for the role. I mean she was abducted and hooked on drugs in the film afterall.
-
I don't mind using my brain when watching TV, it's just damn irritating sometimes.
Granted, not as agonizing as watching "Terminator Salvation". DAMN, I kept saying "WTF"?????
One thing going for "Lost", it doesn't structure itself completely on coincidences. I digress, but WTF with "TS"???? I avoided it in the theater, and rented the DVD last night. It was IDIOTIC. No wonder that the franchise is up for grabs. I was PISSED. -
...so by your deduction (hittin fame= gettin skinnier), Zoe Saldana is gonna be as thin as JettL's resume?
-
...yea the movie sucked... the one thing I had hoped would rock would be the bike chase, but even that was overhyped by AICN... still way better than GI Joe...
-
If the AAA doesn't want to return to play Eko lets get the kid who played Walt to play him. Surely he looks about 35 now.
-
Ok, when I first watched the movie I was surprised to see she was in Taken. I didn't realize it was her. Months later, I rewatched the movie with a friend and STILL didn't realize it was her again, until this talkback. SHIT! I suck!
Oh, and she's most definitely hot in my book. So is Elizabeth Mitchell... Threeeee Waaaaaayyy!!!
Can't wait for the final season of L O S T and I can't quit reading these stories on casting. It's gonna be an awesome final season. -
Well, at least I hear it was horrible. Luckily I've never seen it.
-
...in that case, could baby Aaron play Shannon?
-
Again, not to digress, but EVERY DAMN SCENE in that "TS" flick, relied solely on coincidence. NOTHING happened spontaneously. The plot would have ground to halt, if a particular character had not been at an exact place, at a specific time. Total "out-of-nowhere" shit. I LOVED the original (saw it 10 times on its original release, revealing my age), and the sequel, and HELL, even the 3rd had its moments. BUT.....
-
Will we learn why he has down syndrome?
-
Damn crap. Remakers OUT THERE? Get a clue. Make us give a shit. FX ain't the saving grace. Good actors/good story/iffy-FX trumps lame acting/crappy script/high-end FX EVERY TIME.
-
The plane will land at LAX, Michael will look over and be surprised that Walt is suddenly 5 years older, and Claire's midsection will explode as a 5 year-old Aaron comes bursting out. It will be freaky (just ask JettL)!
-
The horror. Without exaggeration one of the worst movies ever made. Luckily I was paid to see it. Maggie's perfect ass in cotton panties helped its cause though.
-
say they had the entire thing planned from the beginning. First off the name Jacob wasn't even mentioned until S2, the Ben character was only supposed to last a few episodes but the actor was too good so they kept him and made him leader. And Nester Carbonell was supposed to leave the show two seasons ago but his pilot failed and he became one of the most important characters on the show.
-
...yay Im one of the few who enjoyed part 3... and TS was terrible for the reasons you said... you cant tell me you planned to release a sleeper agent years into the future and have him coincidentally find his target... if they didnt use that plot, it would been a much better movie...I mean, why the hell are they puttin twists in a summer blockbuster movie?!... I did enjoy lookin at Moon tho...
-
...yea just like the writers knew the red sox was gonna win the world series... freakin liars!
-
is by far the most interesting character on the show.If the creators have fucked him up the arse I'm never going to watch anything they make from then on.
-
I hope "Lost" 6 slams it out of the ballpark. If they do, I'll love 'em for it. I can only hope...
-
I think they've held up the mantra that they have known the end game and other major story points from the beginning, but made it in such a way to have breathing room for certain storylines. Hell, it's known that Jack was supposed to get killed by the monster in the Pilot episode!
-
Libby's involvement is the only mystery I want solved. Seriously.
Looks like the last holdout is the blonde who played Shannon and wasn't crucial to any plot. -
FUCK YES.
-
I'm perfectly fine with where her story ends in the show right now. But if they bring her back AGAIN I hope they are smart enough to actually expand on the final scene of Dave. If this ends up being another ghost cameo they are really going to piss fans off.
-
Lost dipped in quality a little in season 3, but only temporarily--season 5 was the best so far! I'm fully prepared for season 6 to wrinkle my brain.
-
...Seinfeld?...Chapelle Show?...BSG? (dependin on your series finale stance)...thats all I got...
-
Also ended at the top of their game.
-
...I dont think they count since they were cancelled in advance...like Dollhouse...not sayin their final seasons or story arcs arent incredible, cuz they are......PS: I was at college when Angel final season aired and my college didnt have WB/CW so I missed it...I know if I watched those episodes when it was airin, I could have single handlely saved that show...
-
Don't be a stupid dick, no offense. It's not like they had every episode written out or telegraphed as a "complete plan" They have always, and consistently, stated that they know the end-game, the important moments, and the mysteries. What they don't know if the journey. That's what keeps it interesting for them. Finding the ways to move the characters to where they need to be. Darlton has always said that is what keeps them interested in doing the show. The know the wheres and whys, just not the exact how until they have to confront it. I think that is brilliantly awesome.
-
I didn't watch Lost at all until I started watching the DVDs, from season 1 up through season 5, and watching them serially like that in the space of a few weeks, the biggest disappointment was the abrupt end of the Libby storyline. There was such a clear implication that something was up, what with Libby being in the same frickin' institution Libby was, and it was awesome that Hurley had a love interest that might, in fact, being working for The Others or the Dharma (and Greg) Initiative. And it just went nowhere. Michael I can understand a little but, especially given having a kid in the story doesn't work given how quickly they age . . . throws off TV time. And I wouldn't mind seeing the jewel thieves (one of them being toilet flush guy) again.
Lots of flashbacks. I want to see them shoehorn Jacob or Deadwood Guy back into all sorts of important things that happened in the previous 5 seasons. And explain all the crap going down in Jacob's supposed house. -
Mr. Eko even more than Libby. I loved Mr. Eko. I was disappointed when the smoke monster just smote him like that. That never worked for me. Next to John Locke, Mr. Eko was the most rockin' character on the show.
-
I cross-posted some of this in relation to the last "FRINGE" episode.. So, I happened to catch last night's allegedly "LOST" out of timeline/order "FRINGE" episode. Should you not know, apparently last night an epi was shown that is out of the current season order perhaps from a past season. potentially. ..perhaps from the Alt-universe that is part of "FRINGE" .possibly. perhaps because the FOX suits are choads. probably.
It dealt with simultaneous death, possession, shared and transfered and carried consciousness, the ability of one consciousness to subdue and override the nature of the 'other', second chances (specifically referenced) used in choices 'wright' and 'rong', for bad and good, and the Faith and Science pov's in understanding and interacting with the same phenomena:
The notion that at moments of simultaneous death, it might be possible for dual, perhaps multiple consciousness, souls, synaptic quantum energy ..whatever ..to, by catalyst (in this case a radiological event..wink wink) be cohabitant, in a shared biological entity. All about Eve meets the Search for Spock.
But, and for whatever reason..I got some Big giant spoilery vibes to the 'other' JJ creation.."LOST". They tie to an insight.. I got from all places "Cougartown" last week ("Black is White, Yin is Yang, Hot is Cold....DeVito is tall...John is Kate) to some afore mentioned theories and the most obvious speculation:
http://tinyurl.com/faltor-pan
~
What if none are... who they are?
*That we have not seen the true self's of the characters performed. What if we have been watching a whole bunch of McCoy's running to and fro with Spock's katra? What if the POV of this story, this tale, this myth is not from any of the characters performed ..What if we are witness to a singular consciousness ..gives fresh perspective to the flashbacks. ..not boy with autism and a snow-globe or a dream ..more Smoke monster replaying Ben's life ..Eko's life. so on and so..Aaron? well. What if this about putting, getting, re-incarnating the right consciousness, soul, quantum synaptic energy in or back in the right biological or not entity. A Total Galactic Soul Recall. snort.
*It also occurred to me the similar circumstances of John and Kate and the first and last deaths they effected in the LOST timeline.. When first met, Kate is being returned, her captor the Marshal mortally wounded. She enlists a proxy to send him on his way. Sawyer, who fails. Jack steps in and finishes the job (btw, can you think of anyone else Jack killed on the island?). Gurgle. gurgle. silence.
*And John is being returned, his captor? the ..hmmmpf ..he enlists a proxy to send him on his way. Ben, who succeeds ..well ..there is something there...from their first creepy look shared (orange smile) that comes back around to Walkabout / Tabula Rasa which speaks to nature versus nurture, free will versus determinism, MiB / Jacob, two sides, one dark, one light...Trading Places, and The Duke Bros.
*Feature the quotes from Tabula Rasa:
"That's some story, kiddo, maybe they'll believe you, I know I sure do.."
"Whatever she says, whatever she does, don't trust her, don't believe her.."
"In case you haven't noticed..I did get away.." "..Well you don't look free to me"
Now apply that to what might occur when John comes a strolling out of the shadow of the statue in a few short weeks. Remember, as originally conceived, the great leader of the 'Lost' was to be a woman. A soccer mom, with a history, standing to her better nature..the doctor? he dies.
*And I hope it is John and Kate that are Protagonist / Antagonist, dark and light, the bodies in the cave..in mortal conflict, remember Kate is in far more opposition to John Locke than Jack is when we last left them. But mainly I hope it is John and Kate as the focus..just to stick it to all the John-lovers and Kate-haters with their pants on. While simultaneously makin the homophobic Skaters and Jaters barf in their fruit loops when they think about who the fellas might have been gettin it on with. yeah.
*Also from the "LOST" "FRINGE" episode.. the prominence of Psalm 34:4
""I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.""
It references David's 'changed' behaviour before the semi-divine king and speaks to the experience of being rescued..
and if you saw it, you might notice in the CODA..after the fade to black. The EMT checks the auto accident victim's vitals says "I think he is dead" ...and then the same 'LOST'y eye opening motif and the same 'POOM'y sound FX.
*To note: Walter's evocation of Isaiah 7:9 to the mother.. ("""Unless you believe, you will not understand."") appropriate on a variety of levels..but is actually more credited to Augistine de Hippo. St. Augustine. In the latin Vulgate the Isaiah 7:9 quote is: ""si non credideritis non permanebitis""
..""If you will not believe, you shall not continue.""
also appropriate on a variety of levels. And btw, Isaiah 7 contains God's admonition of the coming of the Messiah. further just to tie this into the notion of avatars and the all-encompassing 'Avatar' ...Grace Augustine...get it. Augustine. of some note for the concept of irresistible Grace. no? nothing? far out.
Black is White, Yin is Yang, Hot is Cold....DeVito is tall...
...John is Kate.
some of this Crux posted in last Fringe node. -
I really don't think Eko will be back. If he is, it'll be super brief, I guarantee. Even though I know what you mean, that his ending doesn't sit well, I've heard Darlton talk about it, and they basically say it wasn't their plan for him at all, but he wanted to leave and they forced to BS an episode and try to justify his death in 50 minutes. Their original plan was to have the rest of the season be a spiritual "battle" between Locke and Eko for who was going to be the spiritual leader of the group and connected to the Island. They couldn't do that, had to kill him, and Locke become the cemented spiritual connection for the Island. Knowing that storyline that should have been but never got to be, I don't really see anything left for Eko to do. What purpose would he serve in showing up again? I really don't think he has incomplete story, per se. It's an unsatisfying one, sure, and it ends poorly, but I don't think its incomplete as it is. He was Chosen Against. Unfortunately, thats really all there is to it. And now with Locke dead, or whatever he is (even though we know that the REAL John Locke will be back somehow someway this season, its absurd to think otherwise) I don't see what purpose Eko would serve in his return. I think we might see him standing as a ghost-person, return of the jedi style, towards the end, if they do a shot of everyone who died standing together...but I don't know what kind of storyline he could have. Just my opinion though.

If Emilie de Ravin had to read it 3 times before it made sense
by theapostle
What chance do the rest of us have?
-
I feel the same way. I do think Locke is dead and gone, ne'er to return. But even so, I think his full significance has yet to be revealed. Otherwise, it would be pretty anti-climactic to his story arc.
-
that they don't get the full scripts. They just get the parts that are pertinent to their character.Anybody else remember this being the case?
-
After he went to comiccon for GI Joe he stated that the fans he met loved him as Eko and that he'd like to return
-
Oceanic flight 815 crashing on the island and Jack waking up in the jungle. It's one MASSIVE time loop.
-
They were making it up as they went along for the first season, and probably most of the second season. David Fury spilled the beans to me when I asked him why he quit. So it's not "brilliantly awesome", it's a fucking con job. But I still love/hate Lost and will watch the final season with eyes glued to the television.
-
What a surprise a bunch of dead people are gonna be on Lost. Have you even seen the last 5 season. THIS IS NOT NEWS!!
-
If Obama bumps the season premier nerds will riot and Eminem will come out on national TV and say Obama doesn't care about White people.
-
that the State of the Union will NOT be on Feb 2.
-
Nerd riot avoided
-
I have to think that many will be let down by this. All the landmark shows, be it "Seinfeld," "BSG" and "The Sopranos" had finales that let many down. Expectations are very very high. I hope the finale here lives up to them. The track record isn't good.
-
Pretty damn excited for season six. But I'm wondering when I need to stop reading these things because I don't want anything to be spoiled. Interesting that O'Quinn said that, because I did think it was a great surprise. The island has done so much weird shit already that I just never doubted it brought Locke back to life. My only gripes, really, are that Jacob wasn't a real character for so much of the show and that his mysterious enemy (whomever Locke really is) was brought into the show so late. Both of those story points feel kind of forced when you look at the story from beginning to end. Jacob all of a sudden having an encounter each of the oceanic six and then being burned before any of them saw him kinda cheesed me out, actually. Anyway, really looking forward to this season. Hope they don't fail with the ending.
-
..at the beginning. In places it still seems like they have idea flashes and find ways to get them into the story (see my above post). But whatever. If it ends in a satisfying way, or even close to it, I can forgive them the crap third season and all of the misleading, dead end plot points. Think about how incredible it could have been if they'd known what they were going to do from the beginning? This is a great reason for adapting novels and comics for movies and tv shows; they're complete ideas.

This will be the first TV series that I purchase on Blu Ray
by miyamoto_musashi
Hopefully the complete series should be available by Christmas this year. I just hope there isn't a 3D version proposed.
-
Hopefully the guys have watched The Shield, The wire or Six Feet Under. Six Feet Under in particular ended brilliantly in line with the series. Lost could either end in completely mystery, i.e. audience left wondering, a loop (opening of the eye) or even with Flash Forwards.
-
He has been alluded to for a little while and am happy that we haven't see him too much. Glad he isn't just one of the gang and still someone very special.
-
Y The Last Man would be perfect for 2-3 seasons of 12 episodes each.
Brian K Vaughn could also take a lot of the Lost crew with him to get it going.
Like Lost has references to pop culture, mysteries, action, romance, comedy, think it could be a hit.
Though definetely prefer to see it on cable as opposed to network TV. -
remember what Des said to Jack in the s2 premiere "See you in another life brotha". Recall how the numbers were introduced midway in season 1. Recall how the Adam and Eve skeletons were found in the 5th episode of season 1. Recall how the whispers were introduced in the 7th episode. Now, remember all these things I have said, and thus, it will come to pass, that they will be answered in season 6, and you will be punked. And btw, no one quits a TV show if they were "making it up as they went", otherwise, no one would ever stay working on a TV show. Nice try though.
-
just like Locke was. All the betrayal, shame, humiliation, and anger you feel, Locke should have felt. In a sense, Ben felt that way, and thats why he stabbed Jacob.
-
I have no doubt that you are SUPER knowledgeable on the subject of Lost, but you don't work for the show or you would have been fired long ago. So clearly you're just stating some of these things by putting two and two together from everything you've read. That's cool, I can dig most of it. But sometimes you come on a bit strong with stating things as fact. And sometimes you just say things that are straight up wrong. Many TV shows have been made up as they went along. Many.
-
...because his father treated him like shit, never acknowledging him the way Ben longed for. Then, on top of that, his mystical, mythical father figure ignored him tenfold beyond that. Trying him over and over, never recognizing him the way Ben longed for. Then, when Ben tries to explain all this to Jacob, asking "what was it that was so wrong with me?", "what about me?" and Jacob replies, "what about you?" in a demeaning way, he stabs him. He's able to stab him because he's been an immoral, heartless, lying prick for his entire life. But, ya know, that's just how I interpreted it.
-
Oh for sure. I know Jacob was alluded to for a long time. From season one even, I think. But inclusion of him as a character, the chance meetings with all of the oceanic six and his being burned before any of them could actually SEE him again still felt like an afterthought to me.

Jaka, ok then sir, since you're being a gentleman about it
by billboefett
lets go over everything I stated piece by piece. Tell me on which part, in my post above, I was incorrect in what I stated? Desmond's quote in s2 premiere? The numbers in s1? Skeletons in ep5? Whispers in ep7? Which one was I incorrect on?
-
I don't think I've ever been ungentlemanly towards you, but I guess that's a topic for another day.I'm not speaking of what you're stating about past seasons. I just re-watched the entire series and while I think you know more than I do from out of the series reading (of which there is quite a lot to be found online and in print, all of which I have ignored and will continue to ignore) I haven't seen anything you've mentioned that was wrong (just maybe some stuff that I don't know about). I'm talking about what you are saying is GOING to happen in season six. In the last several Lost posts here at AICN you basically stated that they're going to answer all of the questions remaining, in some cases even HOW they're going to answer them. I just don't see how you could know all that. That's all I'm sayin'.
-
lets all sit back and enjoy the show and stop splitting hairs. It's going to be over before we know it, and thats going to SUCK MASSIVE ASS
-
The show won't end in a loop. "It only ends once, everything else is just progress." But it will end--the characters will complete their journeys and the story will conclude, just like the writers have told us. Everything has been very carefully paced, plotted and constructed from the moment they negotiated the series end date. From the second half of season three on, it has been one of the best planned shows around and the arguments that they're making it all up as they go along are about three years past reasonable.
-
why Herc wasn't actually AT this event.. isn't he a television critic?
-
"3 years past reasonable" -I like that!

Goth Claire makes an appearance, even if only briefly.

You make good points, but generally the writing has been pretty good, so they could come up with one. But, I suppose there is no satisfaction for Eko's abrupt end. But, aside from Locke, he was indeed my favorite character. I wish they had been able to keep him--and do something with the Libby storyline in the context it originally appeared in.But given the problems of telling a linear story where writers and actors and budgets come and go, what the Lost folks have pulled off is nothing short of amazing. Love that show.
-
What change did you notice in Sawyers appearance? Just wonderin'...
-
Thanks for your devastating blows to my character, MacFaux, based on my 3 posts. 'Flash-Sideways' was me lacking the right way to describe the "Alt-Flashes" or whatever. But, you're wrong. Jack's knuckles are bloody and Sawyer's appearance is different because of continuity errors. It's a TV show, sir.
-
are not part of the story. That's a good band name.. AnaL's New Teeth
-
are NOT coincidental. He had shorter hair in the pilot, and then longer hair in 1.3, because of how much time has elapsed. They told him to grow his hair out for the character. You see conspiracies where there are none
-
"flash sideways" has been used by the LOST producers and some of the actors. MacFaux is trying to assert some kind of knowing-authority, and not doing a very good job.
-
about Jack's bloody knuckles in Tabula Rasa, why don't you actually explain what the mystery is? I almost want to go and drop $40 on the bluray for s1 just to see what you're talking about, but I'm not going to bother. Just explain it. Anyone can be mysterious and drop little fake-hints at nothing.

It is all about the Moon, death, yeah ..tastes of cheese..James and Juliet. Sci-Phi Phunky Phantasy goodness.
How long since I've seen you...
I don't know...
It seems like 50 million years ago...
I still think of you,
every now and then.
And last words you said,
let's be friends.
Yet I remember,
do you recall?
I was the one,
you let inside,
Your solitary room...
I was the one,
who took you on,
your first trip to the moon...
Just when you've been thinkin
You've got it all...
together.
Here I am again,
looking through you...
Wouldn't you think that this time,
That we could get it right?
You say that stuff so strong,
And then you turn down the light.
Cause you remember,
yeah, you recall.
I was the one,
you let inside,
Your solitary room...
I was the one,
who took you on,
Your first trip to the Moon...
And sometimes it's hard to see,
Tomorrow through yesterday.
It's alright to talk about it,
But I'm here today...
How long since I've seen you?
I don't know.
Do you remember?
Do you recall?
Well I recall...
I was the one,
you let inside,
Your solitary room...
I was the one,
Whwll took you on,
Your first trip to the moon...
There was a time,
I was inside,
Your lonely, lonely room...
I am the one,
who took you on,
Your first trip...

briefly a few times in s2 by Ben, Mr. Friendly, etc. Then again in s3 by Patchy, before Ben took Locke to meet "him"
-
I don't think ANY of you work for the writing department of the show, so you shouldn't be here stating anything as fact. I have not done so myself. I've said repeatedly that this is what I think. Or this is what I've felt. I don't care what explanations can be provided, the quick inclusion of Jacob meeting the oceanic six briefly right before he got fried FELT like it was a last second add on. I don't care if it was something they'd thought of before the first seasons aired. The way it was executed, TO ME, felt like it was just thrown on quickly at the last minute. You see the difference in what I'm saying? I think this show is great, but I don't worship it. They've made MANY mistakes along the way and then done their best to fix as many of them as possible. I'm sorry if that hurts anybodies feelings but that's just my interpretation. And really, any show that's had as many writers working on it at various times simply cannot have a singular vision. So yeah, anyway. Nothing personal, and this wasn't directed at any specific person or persons. I just wish people would stop stating things they don't know as fact.
-
What on Earth are you talking about? I've been ignoring throughout this whole thing, but you've got all these wild quotes and theories and shit...but theres one problem...none of your posts are cohesive or make any sense. Explain yourself already or get LOST.
-
I totally see your point. While I found the Jacob meetings interesting, I agree it felt tacked on. The biggest reason for this is because, for the most part, the moments didn't mean anything. There was the theory that he touched all of them...but he didn't, so that is out. If it was just meant as a way to show his worldwide influence and just add another layer of connections to the show...it succeeded on a basic level, but I agree it wasn't particularly effective in relation to most of the other "major reveals" of this sort that we had seen before. It did feel tacked on. If they come back this season and explain that those meetings meant something, that he didsomething to them to set things in motion etc, then excellent, that will make it much more satisfying. But as it is, I don't think your off-base saying it wasn't handle too well. For how important it seems in terms of context, it didn't feel very important. I almost forgot about it.
On a side note, I'm entirely LOST obsessed. But there is a difference between loving a show to death and being a complete moron. These people who say it is perfect and get angry when you criticize things that are entirely legitimate are morons. The accomplishment of LOST as a full story is amazing...but that doesn't mean it's PERFECT. There is something wrong in our society today, in regards to everything, that nowadays when people get attached to something or associate themselves with something, they blindly follow and refuse to critique. I don't understand it. It's okay to admit something wasn't perfect, even though you love it. For example, I know people who watch True Blood, and basically no other show on television, just True Blood, and they will passionately and vehemently claim it is THE BEST SHOW ON TELEVISION. PERIOD. What the hell? I watch it too. It's entertaining. But its nowhere close to being the best television show even on HBO. It concerns me a lot. People can't take criticism these days. LOST is great...but if you honestly believe they haven't made mistakes...you're only foolish yourself. Even Darlton would say your a moron. They openly admit to making at least two truly terrible episodes of LOST. I mean get a grip people, nothing is perfect. -
List the posts in here, or recent LOST posts, where I, or anyone "like me" have said the following:
a) LOST is PERFECT
b) LOST has never made mistakes
c) LOST is above criticism.
I'm not going to hold my breath.
Now, what I *have* said in here is FACTS, and I was challenged on that. I asked Jaka to point out WHICH things I said aren't factual, and he didn't. He just, yet again said "look, I know you like the show, but its not perfect, and I'm sure you know more than me, but.. you're not a writer on LOST so you don't know". He said it, again, and you backed him. So not only do you guys repeatedly fail to point out anything I've said that isn't true, you just keep repeating the same old "no show is above critcism, including LOST" blah blah. We get tired of hearing you saying that. Jaka, specifically now, the reason why I *know* what I know is for 2 reasons: I am spoiled up to 1/2 of the s6 season, knowing bits and pieces of whats going to happen, and The LOST producers said, very recently, what specific issues they are addressing in s6. Since its so close to being done, I don't think they're morons, lying to us, this close to the premiere. I also have confirmation that they've begun answering those long-held questions we've had based on the set reports, photos, and spoilers I've seen. Put simply, you guys want us to take a half-committed, wishy washy approach to the show and we're just not going to. You go right ahead, you have that right. But when you say things that are simply not true, and I *know* aren't true, I have the right to dispute it. I know you don't like that, but I really, really don't fucking care dude.
-
Yeah, people who get that attached to things annoy the hell out of me. I love Lost and it's probably my most favorite show I've ever watched but I recognize its flaws. As for proclamations of BEST SHOW ON TELEVISION EVER PERIOD, I have a female friend who keeps telling me that this title belongs to The West Wing. I've never seen it so I can't really argue about it though, so I just say, ah, cool.
-
His posts go nowhere, make no sense, and are a mess. My theory is that MacFaux is either: a) an intention troll having a laugh b) someone who needs to stop his drug abuse and get some serious help c) a plant from the LOST producers to fuck with us a combo of b and c. MacFaux, if you want to be taken seriously and get proper interaction here, boil your posts down into complete thoughts, with supportive sentences, and have a COHERENT point we can grasp, instead of doing things like saying "jack's bloody fingers" and singing songs to us dude.
-
What do Jack's tattoos MEAN? I mean, we found out what they SAID, but not what the MEAN. Stranger in a Strange Land 2 anyone? Anyone? Guys? Hey why are you picking up those baseball ba
-
Be prepared to burn your DVDs dude, if thats what you really want. They never even intended of having that god-awful episode "Stranger in A Strange Land" or whatever. The only reason they did is because fans MADE a big stink about the tattoos, so they retroactively gave them meaning. That is when LOST is flawed. That episode was a giant mistake, and I'll bet you every cent I'll ever earn they never ever mention it again. That shit ruins lost. Why do his tattoos have to matter? Who gives a fuck. I just don't care. They already wasted time with that episode...I can not imagine they would choose to waste another one in the final season.
-
Whose fucking fault is it if you've spoiled yourself on things about Season 6? No one but your own. I follow every detail I can, but I avoid real spoilers. And besides, I'll bet that anything you think you "know", ends up being, at very least, slightly askew of what you were told or heard. Has anything on Lost every panned out the way you thought, even when you were certain you knew what was going to happen? Cause it hasn't for me. I've figured out the generals of what will happen, but its the details that matter. The context. Knowing what you know should only lead to more intrigue if you really love LOST that much, because you should know it undoubtedly isnt the entire picture. So why are you bitching again? its your fault you spoiled yourself, and you think its the end-all be-all, which it so won't be, I guarantee it.
And as far as flaws go, if you want to tell me that basically the entire storyline of Eko isn't a flaw, go ahead. But its bullshit. It should have been great, but things happened in the real world, and it became a blemish on the face of LOST. It was unsatisfactory, misleading, ultimately lead nowhere and because he wanted to leave proved pointless. Stranger in a Strange Land is also a flaw. They gave into fan pressure, and delivered a crap episode. Interesting, maybe. Meaningful? Absolutely not. Season 2's "baptism" episode Fire + Water, another crap, meaningless episode. "Dave"? How much more misleading and annoying can the writers have been on that one? They needed to fill time in season two, before the official end date was announced, so they made the obligatory "maybe its in Hurleys head" episode. We know its not in Hurleys head. That would be a fucking garbage end. And it was a crap episode, ultimately, because it was blatantly misleading. So there are some factual flaws, imo at least, of LOST. I love it. I'm counting the days. But some things have sucked. Sorry.
The thing you said about us being "half-committed" is bullshit. I contend we are more fully committed than you'll ever be, ebcause we watch the show objectively. I celebrate its greatness, and criticize its flaws. That is what a true fan does, not blindly accept total bullshit. That's being a lemming. I remember everything that ever happened on LOST, I'm not wishy-washy. I'm just not blind. -
Fact: LOST dropped the ball on eps like Jack's STRANGER IN A STRANGELAND ep, the ep w/ Charlie working at a copy machine copy, or the characters Nicki and Paulo. That kind of stuff. The producers ADMITTED it and Damon Lindelof said he hated those eps. FACT: LOST has had filler eps that we could have done without. Now, lets get into the part where you "LOST isn't perfect" guy are incorrect (an unnecessary distinction/category since no one here is saying it is): They WANTED badly to finish Libby's backstory, explain why she was in the asylum, but Cynthia Watros won't return. She refused. If they fired her early and shouldn't have, oh well, I don't think every decision they make is gold. The quick way Eko left the show.. the actor's parents died, he hated hawaii, was hard to get along with, wanted to direct a movie, and only committed to a year-arc on the show, so they let him go. So what? Actors need to be able to leave. Categorize that as a misstep, and that's fine. The stuff with Michael, there isn't much else to tell. The LOST producers already knew before s3 started that Nicki and Paulo were a bad move and were already working to get rid of the characters, long before fans even started hating them. I think thats a credit to the show, and not a ding. The whole "punting along as we go" thing was necessary because they didn't know how long they had to go until the show would end. 6 seasons? 8? 10? 11? Who knew. So they were treading water, circling the wagon. Were they stalling, or going too fast? They didn't know. Once they brokered the end in s6 with ABC during s3, it was full speed ahead. The filler eps were gone, and the pacing was ALOT faster (sometimes too fast for my taste!) You need to understand, that kind of mis-steps and mistakes they've made over the course of the show, are the kinds of crap other TV shows pull every single season. But you guys, for some reason, single out LOST and try to keep a running tab of every mistake they've made as if to rub it in our faces. Alright, so now that we've covered the FACTUAL mistakes that have been made, and not in secret, lets cover the ones you guys continually love to bring up, which simply aren't so: They make it ALL up as they go. No, thats complete B.S. Matthew Fox had to sign a contract that said he's not going anywhere because he will be in the final episode. And this took place YEARS ago. There's hints on an alternate reality/universe in s6, and Desmond/Jack have been saying "see you in another life brother" since the s2 premiere. Woops! Wookie up there said they had NO idea where the were going until about s3. thats just simply, incorrect, period. I don't care if you don't like me pointing that out, Jaka. The whispers, which first appeared in the 7th ep of s1 w/ Sayid meeting Rousseau, will be answered in s6 and show pre-planning, forethought, and a master plan all the way from s1. The black rock ship, which was introduced near the end of s1, will be visited in s6, again, showing a master plan. The adam and eve skeletons, which made their appearance in the FIFTH ep of s1 "house of the rising sun", will again, vindicate the LOST producers as having a master plan all along. And before you jump on me for the "all along", by that, I mean, the ending being known, the basic skeletal structure, but not the writing of the meat of every episode. Damon Lindelof, upon taking over LOST w/ Carlton Cuse, when JJ Abrams left to shoot MI3, had to sketch out a core mythology and end-game, and he did. JJ Abrams even suggested "they find a hatch". They didn't know what would be in the hatch, but they figured it out. They didn't know there would be a Ben Linus, but so what? That doesn't mean they didn't have the end-game already known. Matthe Fox, ever since about the middle to end of s2, has been saying he knew the ending to LOST. How could he know this? Because they TOLD HIM. It was part of the deal to keep him onboard, since they needed him to be around for the final ep and not go off to some other show or movie. Damon Lindelof has said he's had the final IMAGE before the closing credits in his head for years now. He's said the plotline for s6 has been roughly known for about 5 years now. If LOST was going to be cancelled at the end of s2, they would've jettisoned the hatch, Desmond, and probably the Dharma Initiative, and just had MIB pop up and take Locke's form. No, I didn't make that up, they said that in an interview. Now, you can choose to continue to fold your arms, be a skeptic, and huff and puff and say they're liars, and thats fine. But when all the answers start coming in s6 and show they have NOT been making it up as they go, then that will be that. Damon and Carlton did an interview during s2 that said "we deliberately put in little clues like Adam and Eve to prove to the audience 'oh so they had THIS in mind all along!' and we would be vindicated. You can search for it by google. Its also in the notes on lostpedia under adam and eve. I've posted it here far too many times to do it yet again. You do the work, for once. I'm just going to end this post there.
-
Dave was not made as a ep to suggest "maybe its all in Hurley's head?" but to prove it was NOT all in Hurley's head. Did we watch the same ep? Libby, at the end, comforted his "maybe I'm crazy" theory with asking him what she or the others did that day on the other side of the island. Since he didn't know, it showed it wasn't all a creation of his imagination. Also, Dave was a manifestation of the Smoke monster, trying to see if it could manipulate or kill Hurley. We know the MIB and Smokey has most likely been forces of manipulation on the island to bring about their "end game", whatever it may be, beyond killing off Jacob, so, no, that episode wasn't a complete waste or 'fucking with the audience'. If you're going to challenge me, at LEAST bring to the table something that at least makes sense or is based on what actually took place. You don't cite Dave as proof of "they tried to get you to think LOST is all in hurley's head!!" eh... no. They cleverly used that ep to take one more "LOST is all this:" theory off the table. Its not a mis-step. As for your other comments, I already answered them in my above post.
-
But I know a lot of people who were toroughly thrown by that episode. Maybe not the passionate viewers as us, but I still count it as a misleading, crap episode overall. I've heard people who still talk about that episode like it will be coming back to haunt us. That's misleading.
Overall, I think we're on the same side though. Your last post was mostly right on, imo. If not incredibly difficult to read. -
anyone who says "LOST is the best TV show ever made" isn't saying it is perfect and doesn't have any flaws, just like the people who say "The WIRE is the best TV show ever made" aren't saying its without flaws. Stop caring so much that we enjoy it so much. Who the fuck gets upset about that? Get a fucking life. And you're going to say "oh no sir, YOU get a life because you have to tell us that we don't know what we're talking about when we say X" And thats absolutely right. When you say they made it all up as they went, you're incorrect. And we're allowed to point that out. Us pointing that out, has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with "LOST being perfect", which is pretty much a useless response guys like yourselves keep giving. Its off-the-table, as far as I'm concerned. Its a strawman. Stop bringing it up, and stop caring that guys like me love the show so much.
-
lets make peace about all this and forgive and forget because simply put, we're on the same side. We're not Jack and Ben, we're Sawyer and Sayid. (or Jack and Saywer, whatever). Lets just enjoy the show and take it all in and see how it plays out. I don't think they made the show to get guys like us to fight and bicker. Its an amazing show, generates TONS of discussion, and unique in that way. We're REALLY, REALLY going to miss it when it goes. Peace brother?
-
It generates more discussion, and more intelligent discussion, than any show ever made. And I love it. I just love talking about the things I love. Sure, sometimes it devolves into bickering, etc, but at the end of the day I value the discussion. LOST TBs are consistently the best. The Wire truly is, imo, the best show ever made. But no one watched it and it generated no discussion, nor would the discussions have been very fun, so wheres the fun in that? The Mad Men talkbacks can get interesting, but again, not enough people watch it. LOST hits that perfect balance between being entirely water-cooler worthy, entirely (well, mostly) extremely intelligent, and lots and lots of people watch it. I love that. That is what I will miss the most. So..
Aye, peace brother. -
is that it has amazingly few faults. I agree that LOST sparks more discussion though, but Bilbo when you say fans adopt a "wishy-washy" approach to the show by AVOIDING spoilers that is annoying. I know we are all fans and its peace and love but still... it grates. Look, I think it comes down to a a matter of taste regarding the 'standalone' episodes of LOST, now some people might argue that LOST is one giant jigsaw and every piece matters but no, again, thats The Wire. Some episodes of LOST suck. They do. Obviously Stranger in a Strange Land but I think Fire + Water is worse. Jack's tatoo episode still had some interesting ideas, the thing that makes it worse as a fan is that by subsequently dropping ALL the plot from that episode, the episode is now seen as pointless. I don't think any other episode of LOST is pointless, maybe part of Ji Yeon, but thats for different reasons. When LOST is done, and I inevitably buy it all on Blu Ray, I'll probably skip how Jack got his tatoos. So I think its a fair criticism of the show as a whole that it contains a few duds.
As a piece of network television, LOST's accomplishments are HUGE and I'm sure the final season will be a fitting end but it is not immune to criticism, especially the first 2 and a half seasons. Hopefully once its over, more networks will get on board with the idea of an enddate and we'll get better shows as a result. If that was LOST's ultimate legacy that would be cool. -
My point wasn't "people who avoid spoilers are wishy washy" AT ALL. Re-read it again. What people are being non-committal, disspassionate, and wishy washy about, is the awesomeness of LOST. It has nothing to do with seeking or avoiding spoilers. By wishy-washy, I mean, they can't stand it if people love LOST. They also won't say they hate it, they just want to sit on the fence, be kinda neutral, and therefore, wishy-washy. I have no idea how you can interpret that from what I said. At no point in there did I try to categorize "the committed" as spoiler-seekers. The committed are those who know the show, know the faults, and yet still trust the writers and think the show is awesome.
-
is when Juliet got the stamp on her back that essentially says she can never be a true hardcore Other. Jack's tattoo also means "he walks among us, but is not one of us". That should come back to mean something when LOST is over, from what we find out about Jack and where he ends up. My theory, as for what that outcasting meant for Juliet, is that she is not allowed to go into the temple and become "Otherized" like Ben did, and maybe some others will in s6. So no, not an entirely wasted ep.
-
The meaning was there in drawing the comparison between the two of them in the episode, and also still resonates thematically in terms of the two of them consistently being outsiders, even when they are in positions of leadership. Just look at Juliet and Sawyers romance. A beautiful thing, but when Kate came back...she still worried about being cast aside. Jack, of course, doesn't fit with anyone. A hero like that can never be truly accepted by those around him because they resent his lack of flaws. Not that Jack doesn't have flaws, of course he does, but he keeps them to himself, and doesn't let them influence his judgement. He leads, for the better of the group. They both amongst their groups, but will never really be part of their groups. However, I don't know if that will come back into play the way you say. I think they are going to consciously stay as far away from that tattoo episode, and all that meaning, as possible. The writers know people hated that shit, even though they begged for it. I don't think they'll be eager to revisit anything that happened in that episode. Could prove interesting though, to learn more about being "Otherized" as you say. Diggin' that a lot.
-
While they were stupid and pointless characters, I didn't hate "Expose" Not at the time, and not now. I remember being annoyed because I had waited a week for a new episode and it didn't push the story further at all. But I appreciated it as a standalone episode. It was like a little, one episode window into the way the Island works. It was like a Twilight Zone episode of LOST, and I loved that. It gave you a sense of two characters journey on the Island in its completion. It helped me to understand the Island and the rules better in a general way. It was like a full arc put into one episode, and I liked that. Yes, it annoyed me a little at the time because I had to wait another week for the story I cared about, but overall, I thought it was an interesting, worthy, and ultiamtely successful experiment. Do I want more of it? Of course not. But as a filler episode, compared to the other fillers we've discussed, its by far the most fun and most effective. The macabre final moment was great fun. Shows the Island has a sense of irony, and that's great.
For my money, Fire + Water is by far the worst episode of LOST ever. I hated it when I watched it, I hate it now, and it'll stand as even more pointless when the whole thing is over. That episode was an embarassing waste of time. -
Juliet's tatoo was also on a tree where she got supplies to help Claire near the end of s3 when the 815ers were still distrusting Juliet, when she told Sawyer and Sayid they were the biggest hypocrits
-
Sawyer had Charlie distract everyone so he could steal all the guns from the hatch and announce "theres a new sheriff in town!"? Because, ironically, Sawyer eventually became the "Sheriff in town".
-
Probably the third time I have seen it and I am enjoying it more and more each time.
I think when I initially watched some of these episodes from the first few seasons I was too much, I want more story, mysteries resolved etc. But now I more enjoying seeing the characters, their motives, the interactions with other characters, different perspectives etc.

Wasn't that one called The Long Con? Anyway, Fire + Water was a Charlie episode, and it involved him basically going crazy, stealing Aaron, and baptizing him in the ocean for no reason. Everyone thought he was trying to hurt the baby, but in the end he just trying to save it. It was just awful, awful stuff.

As I have said before Lost is my favourite show, I think "best" is a horrible term to use in regards to art (movies, books, tv etc), something that is very subjective.
Best 100m male runner at the 2008 Olympics was Usain Bolt, that use of the word best is completely clear cut. -
Dude, he was UNCLE RICO man from Napoleon Dynamite! "watch me throw a football over that mountain. If only I could just go.. back in time.." He also played the homeless guy Rusty on Seinfeld. He was also the heavy metal guy in Terrorvision!
-
Did you see the deleted scenes that totally redeemed Nicki and Paulo as good people? They should have left it in man
-
Would be hard to redeem a couple of people who murdered someone for diamonds.
-
And yet I said it still does that. Hmmmm............

"The LOST producers said, very recently, what specific issues they are addressing in s6. "
Seemed like a clear link between spoilers and wishy washyness to me. Anyway, if I've got it wrong, fair enough, in the spirit of LOST brotherhood, forgetta bout it. No big deal. Namaste and all that.
I love LOST. I think its awesome. But it is not perfect. Far from it. Dave, Stranger, Fire+Water, JiYeon, The Long Con, Charlie's photocopying exploits, many Kate episodes and parts of The Incident are all open to criticism. It doesn't make you more of a fan to ignore the faults, and yes LOST has fewer faults in comparison to other network shows, but they are still there. -
When guywhogotaheadache went batshit crazy because we started coming up with all the theories about implications of the hydrogen bomb being on the island, how it might be behind the concrete wall, how it would end up being extremely important. His words:
"You guys are taking these bomb theories too far. They introduce the bomb in one episode and suddenly it's the key to the whole god damn show and everything that's happened since. It's just a god damn hydrogeon bomb, not a lynchpin of the space time continuum, christ."

Hahahahahaha -
I think that the whole randomness factor of actors leaving brings a kind of gritness to the show. Not everyone in life gets to have a full story arc. like when AnaL and Libby died.

If you haven't seen this new footage yet, go to www.skyone.co.uk/lost and watch the first two videos, where Damon and Carlton are caught off-camera revealing hidden secrets.
