Two FAST AND THE FURIOUS Movies In The Works??
Merrick here...
Over the weekend, Vin Diesel updated his very cool Facebook page (HERE) with an infobit about the next FAST AND THE FURIOUS film - rather the next FATF films (?)
Vin wrote:
If 2009's 'Fast and Furious' was chapter one, what writer Chris Morgan just delivered is Chapter 2 and chapter 3.
I have never been submitted a two story saga from a studio before... it is very exciting, and shows a commitment level that is hard not to respond to.
I'm pretty sure this is the first indication we've had that more than one sequel is currently being mulled.
I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I have a blast with the FAST AND THE FURIOUS franchise and I don't have any problem taking a look at more films in the series.
A while back, Diesel indicated that at least one new Riddick movie was in development - although later posts suggested two Riddicks may actually be in the pipeline (HERE). Vin can be a little Coy when dropping hints, so it's difficult to be sure about two Riddicks -vs- one, but he later posted that location scouting was underway for a new Riddick project - so we know something's in the wind...

and people are generally stupid.
-
when they start making old school action movies with cars, wake me up.
After all these films, and i still laugh with the warp-drive distorted air-shield of the cars when they are running.fucking mtv generation. -
One worth watching and the other that makes all the money at the BO.
-
Back when the last movie came out, a genius level TB'er came up with this as the title of part 5. Grandmaster Fast could be villain... hero... or both! Same for the "Furious 5".
-
Please answer my fucking question
-
...but it sure smells good!
-
You already shot your load with Cronicles of Riddick!
-
but unlike the somewhat realistic, and involving anime/manga...FnF is just full retard.
-
...and not about Walker v. Diesel trying to out-flex on another?
-
either the 1st or the 15th, as that is when the usual suspects for these crap fests get their checks.
-
Oh and Initial D sucked big time. I mean it REALLY sucked.
The only FF movie that I wasn't into was the 2nd and maybe the 3rd a bit too. They were silly but each in their own way. The first and fourth were good action movies. -
Tokyo Drift was the shit.
-
and a tvseries, dont know if you have seen them.
-
2.0 liter, front-wheel drive racing. Sigh.. generation y are such morons.
-
Answer: Lots of people. Not many animals. And probably even fewer extra terrestrials. But quite a lot of people, myself included.
Do you live under a rock? The last one made nearly twice as much money as the original almost a decade later.
So to answer your question again: Tons of people watch these movies. Or were you just being facetious? -
BE SMELLING IN "THE WIND"
-
made in China with Chinese actors...that is sacrilege.
-
Bring back Michelle Rodriguez, it's all gucci. Yeah, I said "gucci" as a metaphysical substitute for "good." What's up?
-
Vin is on facebook quite a lot actually. He likes talking about the new projects. He says the Riddick script by Twohy is amazing.
-
I was at the pitch meeting at universal studios when we all heard about the idea for the "trilogy" It's going to rock on so many levels, and the fact that ties vin's and paul's F&F to Tokyo drift is really a franchise pleaser. I'll try and get more scoops about it later, but for now know that i am working on it
-
The dumbass in me who rilly rilly wants to own a badass Murcielago or a Koenigsegsegssgeggeggeeeggssgesgesgswhateverthefuck really digs these movies - they're the movie equiavalent of a cheeseburger that ends up being the best cheeseburger you ever tasted. Nothing in comparison to a decent steak, but sometimes, all you want is a fucking great cheeseburger.
Now RIDDICK... I still contend that CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK is massively under-rated and an interesting failure on the level of DUNE. I fucking LOVE the movie, always watch it to the end when I catch it on TV, and really don't get the level of hate - yes, the names of the races and planets are shit - Necromongers? Crematoria? Is that all you got, Twohy? Don't go down as the next Goyer: COME BACK STRONG! - but it's a complete universe, with some awesome production design and some interesting D&D-style backstory mythology that really works for me. I'd love to see the Lord Marshal vs Feyd Rautha - there's a geek-pleaser of a fight I'd LOVE to see! But seriously, RIDDICK needs to come back more than an F&F sequel, though seriously - BRING THEM ALL ON!!
And while we're making with the Vin love - do the xXx threequel, Vin! Show that fat, short, angry fuck Cube how it's done one more time!
Yeah, I got the man-hots for Vin Diesel. He's the fucking MAN! -
Barely, and only because Vin and Paul Walker are back. Just please no more drifting nonsense. It is quite simply the most retarded use of machinery ever.
-
Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!!
-
Fast and Furious film. I actually enjoy watching that a couple times a year.
-
of poop.
-
When the second one came with no Vin I just quit. Was Fasat and Furious any good?
-
I quite like Chronicles, it seemed to be setting up quite an interesting universe. There's only so many cgi shots of pistons one can handle.
-
Though probably not to this franchise. Poor guy's been acting nonstop since he was ten, but then after he does Tokyo Drift, he completely vanishes for four years.
Now all of the sudden, he's got that crazy angel movie coming out on the same day his other movie starts off Sundance. Okay, so Legion probably won't do anything for him, but at least he has Get Low (with Robert Duvall and Bill Murray). -
That's the only way this news could be better.
-
He talks a good game but is he/she legit?
-
like they were totally in love in the last movie.
-
Vin Disel can read? One a completely related note, it's sad that studios feel movie-goers need MOAR F&F. Didn't this franchise suck enough? Doesn't is suck that we have to call it a franchise? What's next, Brett Ratner at the helm?
-
Cool. Sometimes i forget that a small minority of talkbackers only watch movies that star "class" like Meryl Streep,John Malkovich,(insert "Too A-list of an actor to ever appear in a popcorn film" here). AICN talkbackers....gotta love em.
-
" Car movies are popular, let's make more of them."
-
Haven't seen one since the first and my only reaction to that one was a ridiculous amount of eye-rolling disbelief.
-
man, don't even ask. JettL just needs to go. The only way that the moron could do 1/10th of what he/she crams on here, is if he/she could bend the space time continuum, or have 8-12 clones. Kinda hard to be at so many meetings that take place at the same times all around the globe, let alone the.... you know, no use even giving this cunt anymore words. JettL, just go away.
-
Burning rubber "this is where my jurisDICK...tion ends... *looks down*" "this is where mine begins *licking his lips*"
-
... NOT!
-
...instead of hanging wit cokewhore actresses, he spends his little free time, givin us scoops... we need to change this site to AintItJettLNewMovie... man, I wish I could be cool as JettL (ya know, minus the fear of hookin up with cokewhore actreses and havin no "Entourage" type of life)

Vin wants a franchise so bad, every project he does has trilogy potential, even when those projects are already sequels themselves. Looks like Fast and Furious is finally granting his wish after he walked away from xxx and Riddick ended being underwhelming.
-
The tuk tuk race set piece will blow your minds! Or did they already do that in Ong Bak...

Why not just merge this franchise with Deathrace? 2 Fast 2 Death
by wickedjester
I mean how long can Vin Diesel actually be on the run? He's a jacked bald guy with ink, driving around in a (usually) bright colored, neon-lit and chrome rimmed import-- are there alot of these types of people around?
-
God, I hate that guy.
-
Is that you always have responses AFTER the news it out there. Just once, I'd love to see you say something before everyone and their brother could google it.
-
They'd be a doped out!
-
I really enjoyed Pitch Black and Chronicles (directors cut is really good). He's a cool character that gets to do cool shit. It's solid sci-fi action...and I really want to see the Underverse.
-
Only not love of cars or women, it's about the love between the two leads Vin Diesel and Paul Walker's characters like jaysin pointed out. If Brokeback Mountain was a quirky romcom, Fast and the Furious is LOTR/Star Wars, double meaning title too.
-
Is the only F&F I've seen, and somehow I enjoyed it a LOT, even though I felt I should be hating it. It didn't translate into any desire to see any of the other films, though. Maybe I just liked the Karate Kid structure of the film.
-
Two more sequels. Yeah.
-
Better make sure that YOU'RE not fast.
-
Fuck this saga. The first movie weas one movie too many already.
-
why the hell not?

other than foolish depiction of FBI, the latest was fun
by george newman
checked it out from the library the other day. The way the fbi just let paul walker get away with crap was absolute nonsense, and the GPS stuff was a bit video-gamey, but i liked watching the rest.
-
it's not like anyone is going to pretend they're Dances with fucking Wolves...
but you obviously DON'T GET something that a lot of other people do - and I think maybe that is ultimately what drives you nuts? Like the guy who asked (seriously, apparently) who watches these films and the response came back that actually a fuckload of people do...
just not YOU
again, I'm not going to try to argue we're talking about anything but popcorn here but these films tap into a very real love that people have for the automobile - and ever since the first Model-T rolled off the assembly line, the world has been obsessed by the things - they're killing the planet ffs!
go back and look at films like the Smokey/Bandit or Cannonball flicks, both Deathrace versions, the Dukes of Hazzard, even films like Bullit that are pretty much just loved because of the car chase -
these are not deep philosophical treatises on the plight of modern man
they're not character driven explorations of the human condition
people didn't put ridiculous red LED strips into the grill on their rides that weren't even Trans-Ams most of the time because of David Hasselhoff's unique acting talents and on-screen gravitas
if you really don't get WHY people actually ENJOY these films then you need to educate yourself - but if you actually do understand but consider yourself SUPERIOR to the rest of us because these films are so beneath you, and yet you are moved enough to feel the need to post a comment on a talkback about a subject you don't even care about...
well you're either 8 years old (more likely) and one day you'll grow up and leave these childish things behind OR you got some serious issues and this is not the right forum for you to deal with your shit -
I think they are all absolutely fine as popcorn films. I'll gladly watch them. I don't understand people who have such a hangup about films like this.
-
and yet really stupid.
-
Every year or so knots berry farm has a scion nights event for toyota scion owners. I've been invited to a couple, and have gone to a few of the various car club meetings; they could add a scion element to one or both supposed sequels and it would prolly break $100 million just from the scion enthusiasts alone.
-
Everyone has something that rattles their chain. I personally love everything Vin Diesel does - they're all good Saturday night flicks, go great with pizza and a beer or six (excepting BOILER ROOM, and uner-appreciated little gem of a movie), and that's that. Pure popcorn entertainment.
But...
I DO see why people get very passionate about their favourite chosen franchises. Get me started on how shit a writer Russell T Davies has been for the rebooted DOCTOR WHO the past five years, and I'll have a Talkback Meltdown. The best thing is to let the blowhards have their rant, and throw in your two bits worth. People going nuts over their point of view is kinda what the AICN Talkbacks were invented for, y'know.... -
I'm off to bed. Have fun, peeps. SPUD OUT.
-
That's the point. The films make money, so they get big budget sequels. Thereby perpetuating the studios complete lack of original thought. Some of us understand why they keep making them, really. It doesn't mean we have to be happy about it, or what the damn things.
-
like I said, I get that some people don't like these movies - and nobody HAS to like them, or be happy about them being made...
somebody mentioned a previous talkback where people were making up funny names (longstanding tradition here) for F&F movies and I really have no problem with harmless fun like that
just don't try to get all high and mighty toward the rest of us schmucks who actually have no problem enjoying a couple hours with a film that is unashamedly just about the car(s) - and has no pretensions about being anything more than that... -
great.
-
I know they are rubbish, but I love them all, so much stupid fun in just four movies.
-
They pounded it out fast and furious, skipping all the quality plot points and acting.
-
Zac Effron as a rich-kid pretty-boy who races his fathers exotics and get in to trouble with a gang of middle-class latino teenagers with something to prove.
-
Hey I'm all for more of these movies!
-
The 2nd movie bombed. How do they justify doing another? By making the budget $15 million??
-
Diesel and Walker will be eligible for AARP membership by the time these sequels get made.
-
I know this thread's dead, but I'm already tired of Spiderman and Conan. Anyway, I like making fun of F&F, but they're the kind of movies that when I rent them, I tend to pop them into the player almost right away. A lot of higher-quality movies, meanwhile, end up sitting in their Netflix envelope for weeks before I'm in the right mood to watch them.
-
Chronicles of Riddick felt like more of a Conan movie than anything else since Conan the Barbarian. Let's see more along those lines.
-
I even saw the last one because it was the return of all the original characters and I was bored to tears. Wasn't even close to as good as the first.
Haven't seen any of the others inbetween. -
These movies are fucking puke. They're made for drooling knuckleheads. These movies should come with a forced sterilization.
-
Jett posts "and the fact that ties vin's and paul's F&F to Tokyo drift is really a franchise pleaser" ... lol dude wtf?? The last one had Han and TD had Vin; both for a combined 5 minutes (maybe). That's not a "tie-in". That's "continuity". Seeing how the last one ended on a timeline about 1 year before the 2nd one with Walker & NO Vin, in order for your "tie-in" comment to have an iota of credibility is if the next one is Vin with NO Walker.
