Cool News
Those cool cats at Mondo are at it again! This time they got a rad IMAGINARIUM OF DR. PARNASSUS poster!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with another cool as hell geek-drool-inducing work of art from MondoTees. It's an amazing time to be a movie geek. I'm sure I've given you guys this spiel before, but remember back even a decade ago we couldn't get shit like the stuff Mondo puts out on a monthly basis unless it was Star Wars or something. And even then it was cheap, thin paper of a still... or if you were lucky a Ralph McQuarrie poster or something.
Mondo's kicking off 2010 with an official tie in poster for Terry Gilliam's THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR. PARNASSUS, a flick I'm very fond of and this poster, by artist Martin Ansin, rocks. Limited to 150 24X36 sized posters! These'll go fast. So don't say I never did nothin' for you giving this head's up and all...
Click on the poster below to visit the Mondo site!

The first work Monday since Christmas derailed my 2010 preview by 24 hours. Will have installment 3 of 4 up sometime today!

I want a Boy and His Dog poster by this guy.
-
and I even liked Tideland
-
I liked the movie.
-
You got a poster...whoopy fucking do...is the Cool News to tell everyone or what!.. (poster looks like shit anyway, probably couldn't give it away, your the only one who would take it.)
-
Cool looking!
-
That's a great poster! It reminds me of Alphonse Mucha. Have you guys seen his Kubrick print? Amazing stuff!
-
Proves imo that Heath's passing didn't raise the interest and earnings of The Dark Knight that much, it was the overall film. Cuz let's face it the mainstream only considers The Dark Knight as Heath's last fliq.
-
Gilliam said in retrospect about the first transition from Ledger to Depp in the film: "He's extraordinary. That's why I put Johnny in first position [of the three new Tonys] , because number one, he was going to be the most difficult to get any time with, and number two, I just thought if it works with the transition to Johnny and if the audience goes for it, they'll follow the next two. And that's exactly how it works. [...] That's what's funny, when Johnny appears so many people think it's Heath! And it's a trick: Johnny's not doing anything. He looks like Johnny. [...] " [During the initial shoot] Heath was on stage and the Russians are appearing, and he was behaving in a very funny way, he was moving around, and I said, 'Heath, I know what you're doing.' He said, 'What are you talking about?' 'You're doing Johnny Depp, aren't you?' And can you believe, that helps this transition [when Ledger enters the mirror and becomes Depp] . This was not intended!"

LILY COLE NAKED, LEGS SPREAD, IS ALL YOU NEED FOR THE POSTER!!!F
by TehCreepyThinMan
-
Haven't seen the "official" poster yet, so I wonder how'd they compare...
-
...Lily Cole looks like a twelve year old...from the neck up.<P>A very tall, voluptuous, fertile, worldly twelve year old...
-
Ay chihuahua...
-
HOW THE HELL HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS WOMAN BEFORE?!
-
FlickaPoo, you're killing me this morning...
-

...deviant desires aside...interesting fact about the reptile...
by FlickaPoo
...male brain.<P> Studies show that evolution has programmed the male brain to seek two conflicting qualities in a female...maximum youth (when life expectancy was about 23 you had to get going early) and maximum fertility.<P>Someone like Lily Cole is practically genetically engineered to make you want to reproduce with her...it's not your fault.
-
holy fuck, gilliam needs to retire.
-
And theres fuck all wrong with that! Plus anyone who claims Heaths passing didnt affect this movie is a liar, the last third is a shambles.
-
but the fantasy world stuff bored me. Suprisingly Cole was the best thing in it.
-
We're all but slaves to our basest desires... and all for the good of the continuation of the species... If Darwin were alive today, he'd be writing books about Lily Cole...
-
Discworld is basicaly a Pythonesque fantasy world and Gilliams style is perfect for it. O and a bit of Lily for you's (NSFW of course)<p>http://tinyurl.com/yld5hbm
-
Her tits, maybe...but she's a bore. Her giant noggin' contains nary a thought in it.

..."Suprisingly Cole was the best thing in it". Guess what...
by FlickaPoo
...has two thumbs and would be the best thing in Lily Cole?...<P>Well, would try really really hard to be the best...willing to do whatever it takes...
-
...on that mud search...<P>I figured you were either developing a blister or got busted...
-
Seriously, queue up and keep it orderly, people.
-
...had to take a business call... really, I did....
-
...(spoilers)... <p> ..where Colin Farrell (as Tony) manages to finally bed Cole's character...and afterwards she starts talking about how she wants to marry him, and while she's not looking, he's got this disgusted look on his face like he wants to get the fuck out of there...and I totally sympathized with him! He laid her...and that's all she was good for...
-
did bring me to her IMDB page and the movie's official poster. I actually quite prefer this fanboy work to the studio effort... Regardless, this film just moved up several notches on the "must see" list.
-
take your ginger racism elsewhere Chakra ;)
-
...him so strongly with the old stagy effects that I love...I worry a little...<P>I have the same concerns for Burton's ALICE.
-
For the most part, I thought it was well done. I think he used the CG to fit his style, and some of the things which show up resemble his old animation from Python...there are one or two instances where it seems a bit too glitzy...but apart from that, it's used fairly well...I thought...particularly the first time we enter the Imaginarium.
-
Is that someone who gets involved with women who are emotionally dead like those who have been “podded” in Invasion of the Body Snatchers?
-
Yeah, I could easily get into summa that podophilia...
-
...FISHER KING and TIDELAND are two of my favorite movies and perfect examples of fantasy and the real world colliding...
-
I always wanted to see her and Karen Allen do some lesbian shit.
-
... still wasn't commercially released where I live. By the time I see this, his corpse would have been turned into dusty bones.
-
...I have recently started an online relationship with a certain model/actress. She is tall, and lithe...but with full, fertile breasts for one so slim...she has red hair and milky, ever so slightly freckled...sorry. Never mind.<P>The point is that she has the body of a goddess...and the face of a six month old baby. Is my lust inappropriate?<P>When I was younger I would often think of the mom from the Lampoon Vacation movies during special private moments, so I don't think there's anything psychologically wrong with me.<P>Any advice would be appreciated...<P>Signed,<P>Name Withheld
-
I guess you could turn it into a game of sorts...

Brooke Adams, standing topless in the field, by the tanker...
by HarryCalder
...an image frozen into my young mind that shall never be erased...
-
I don't like it. <P> HEY GOOD JOB releasing this fucking thing!!!! Whatever studio picked it up.
-
Until now, I'd thought I was a fairly well-adjusted heterosexual male. I dig the chicks, you know? And I thought sex with a deep emotional underpinning was the best kind. But now I'm having strange thoughts about doing the nasty with women who show no expression of emotions whatsoever... especially toned brunettes with high cheekbones... does this sound odd to you? <p>Looking forward to your reply,<p>Signed,<p>"Podophile"
-
I like this one better (OMG they are using Photoshop!): http://tinyurl.com/ybrq9lr
-
The taste of their pussies.
-
...there is no problem here unless you find these desires and feelings are affecting you life in negative ways.<P>If you are already in a relationship with woman of normal emotional expression I recommend asking your companion to watch G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA once...or if necessary two times back to back. This should produce the vacant and emotionless state you find so alluring (under no circumstances make her watch the movie more than two times in six hours as this could result in dangerous levels of depression or even suicidal feelings. Do not combine with alcohol.).<P>If you are not in a relationship and are on the hunt for a lovely pod-woman of your very own, my advice is simple.<P> Botox is your friend.<P>Best of luck,<P>Dr. Geek

We came here from a dying world. We drift through the universe, from planet to planet, pushed on by the solar winds. We adapt and we survive. The function of life is survival.
-
Good work, poster guys. Sigh...
-
Alphonse Mucha died in 1939, twelve years before Kubrick made his first documentary, "Day of the Fight."
-
Did I miss the memo that someone changed the alphabet?
-
The Martin Ansin poster above...it looks like Alphonse Mucha's style. The thick line and colors. Mucha's one of my favorite artists.
-
I should have been clearer. Sorry.
-
Bringing it right back around to Lily Cole's evolutionarily-determined genetic construction! Taa-Daa!
-
I did the GI Joe thing and she didn't even make it halfway through before collapsing! She's in the ICU right now, tubes and shit all over her, barely registering a pulse, no discernable brain activity at all!<P>why, god, WHY?!<p>Signed,<p>"Podophile"

...um, results may vary?*<P>I imagine this time must be very stressful and difficult for you. Isn't that him bowing on the bottom right? Didn't notice it at first, but there you go.
-
...which has been a fucking revelation for a film geek like me. i've had a 360 for three years and I've had Netflix for over 6 months, so I'm truly a half-baked retard to have not put the two together as of yet. anyway, I'm getting ready to watch "Lost in La Mancha" via Netflix tonight. looks like it will be pretty interesting. not as interesting as that Lily Cole calendar, but i digress.
-
between your introduction to Lily Cole's pictorial and your consultation of my Neverending Story wolf phobia, I think I'm going to have to start paying you $300 an hour. who needs real therapy?
-
Although there's a scene where he reminisces about Lily Cole's mother, who also happens to be played by Lily Cole, and then he makes out with her in a very creepy manner...and I'm not sure...but I think he fingers her pussy, too...I'll have to watch it again.
-
...I'm just happy to hear I'm helping people.
-
Very, very shitty film!
-
I know that's the Tony charaqter because I recognize the mask, but I know Johnny Depp also wears that masq, can't seem to remember if colin or jude do also, but I'd like to actually see them.
-
True story. It's how he got his version of the Parnassus screenplay to Gilliam.
-
(12 in all, just change the numbers at the end of the url)<p>http://tinyurl.com/lilynude<p>The French Playboy pics are nice, as well.
-
...unmarketable. I like some of his work, but maybe the studios don't like him and he has so much trouble making his films (not that Ledger was his doing) is because he really isn't that great?
-
Parnassus was a great piece of cinema. But I also really enjoyed Tideland, so what do I know (according to what seems to be the majority held opinion)?
-
...must know nothing of book cover design of the late-19th/early 20th Century. This is genius and gorgeous. Sadly, it's also sold out. Dammit.
-
I agree with you... as far as Parnassus and Tideland. however honestly, i find it difficult NOT TO find at least a few interesting things in all of Gilliam's films - inadvertantly despite what most people say... but my favorites are Brazil, Time Bandits and Fisher King.
-
i liked the poster as well. would've liked a few more characters, including miller, cole and depp, on there though.
