New HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON Trailer!
Hey folks, Harry here. I don't have a strong bead on HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON yet. I'm definitely up for seeing it, but it is visually a very different looking style. Right? I just am not sure where it is all going yet. Definitely looks like it could be a good deal of fun, eh?

Just first that's all
-
Kinda looks like Cloudy with a chance of.. It could be fun though
-
... always makes me think of ViewMaster reels that I had when I was a kid... and that's cool. It's the best use 3D IMO.
-
What's that? Underage? ODIN KNOWS NOT OF AGE. ONLY CONQUEST. ODIIINNN!
-
Dragons.....complete me!
-
after all those anti-Disney jokes, they have become Disney.
-
is not warranted for this story. Henceforth, please use punctuation which conveys the appropriate level of gravity for the story in question.

Looks much better than other Dreamworks Animation movies
by sifodyasjr.
Maybe they are finally evolving?
-
Pixar must be happy.
-
..instructional video on how to masturabate.
-
Or at least they're not heavily promoting them for this one. That was the one weak point of Kung Fu Panda for me. Some "celebrities" just shouldn't do voice work.
-
Scene :
A young inexperienced and self denying dragon and a vibrant young man are in a tent in the Misty Mountains... -
i can spell jerk off. should have went with that. god i suck.
-
i think ill skip this one
-
I was thinking it sounded like a 'Jelqing: How to' video..
-
Or, what? This movie kinda scares me. Why train a dragon and not eat it?
-
i'm happy to admit that i had to look up what jelqing was. You are right though. I bow to your more accurate joke.

The only reason I'm still vaguely interested in seeing this
by jardinier
is because it's from the directors of LILO & STITCH (hence, presumably, why the main dragon's face looks like that of a certain ultra-dense mischievous blue alien). This trailer is better than the first one, if only because the horribly miscast main character talks less. My main interest lies in finding out who the marketing department stole the music from, though. I ought to know both the main cues (the one over the montage at the beginning, and the one after the teen Viking in drag said "You're crazy"), it's nagging at me... #1 sounds like James Newton Howard or possibly John Williams, #2 sounds Patrick Doyle-ish.
-
Hell ya. I woulda preferd a peter jackson about a war between vikings and dragons but I suppose I can tolerate a g rated version. My nephew and I will enjoy this.
-
And that is all that matter here with these kinds of films. Saw the trailer for this a while back. Vikings? Yes! Dragons? Yes! Looking forward to it.

Another movie about a traitor? I already saw Avatar, no thanks.
by orionsangels
Let me guess. At the end he leads the Dragons against the Vikings.
-
I mean.... Dragons!!!
-
My mother always used to reprimand me by saying, "No training your dragon at the dinner table."
-
I think they're ripping off that title. Anyway, this has my 3-year-old all over it. Dragons starting out bad and then turning good is an instant win for him.
-
whatever.
-
It could have been 3-D also dammit!!!
-
discs Genndy showed concept art for a Viking-themed feature he and his cohorts were working on...would much rather have that than this Dreamworks dreck.
-
Should be instantly greenlit.Still, I guess this could be... okay.
-
thats the government plan anyway...
-
...and I KNOW they have to do this, but I always get a little sinking feeling when the preview starts with a review of a studio's catalog. Interesting, they got Alfredo Linguini for the lead... they must have offered him a shitload of money to leave Pixar...
-
Am I the only one who thinks the dragons look bland, especially their faces?
My apologies, Avatar has spoiled me when it has come to creature design ... -
...for not finishing Samurai Jack. He left us hangin'. And now Mako is dead. GODDAMMIT.
-
Dreamworks, you crafty bitches! It looks cute, though I'd like to know more about the plot because the story is just Eragon meets Shrek. Also, though I've liked Jay Baruchnel in the past, his voice feels all off for his character in these trailers. Too old, too crabby, too bored even. Maybe it plays different (read: better) in the movie itself.
-
Because the studios just cannot find it in themselves to create a strong female lead. 1 female character for every 7 male characters us the going ration currently, right. Bo Peep and Mrs. Potato Head will have to hold their own again in TS3. Sally and Flo and the old bag will tinker in the background of Cars 2. The only female in Up was dead before the film started. EVE in Wall-E was a humongous bitch. Tigress was a gloryhog and Snake wallpaper in Kung Fu Panda. Princess and the Frog was still surrounded by all boys. Gigantica was one girl in boystown, and Insectasaurous does not count. Boo on cartoon Hollywood. And Hollywood in general.
-
OK it's only really like Temeraire because of the black dragon he's raising from birth, the relationship with the dragon, people riding dragons into battle etc. but still, the studios know people would rather see THIS than Temeraire, which is why Jackson is going down the TV series route (which will suck btw).
-
Kung Fu Panda and Shrek 1 were good. Everything else is kinda bleh. Lately it's like Pixar makes movies to tell stories, while Dreamworks makes movies to sell videogames.
-
Shame there'll be no Mako, but at least we'll have some closure.
-
This looks fun. I mean, who among us geeks hasn't dreamed of having a dragon?
-
This looks terrible. That dragon looks, ummmm, not sure. Looks like a Sat morning special. I guess Dreamworks had exactly 1 Great movie with Kung Fu Panda. And a quick question. There was a Poster for Shrek 4: The Final Chapter at the theatre. How is this the final chapter when they have already green lit Shrek 5. Dreamworks sucks!!
-
Ugh. A few movies here and there (like Up & Avatar) I could say, "Sure, why not?" But enough is too much. We pay a handsome enough sum to see movies already.
-
...gonna use oil-based paint because that dragon's pine.
I dunno why that got stuck in my head, but I had to exorcise it from my noggin'! -
Here's the difference between animation and cartoons: Animation of course encompasses all styles, but cartoons in particular denote slapstick, face-contorting nonsense. Characters that bob their entire head all over the place when they talk are cartoons. If their eyes change size and shape to emphasize emotion, that is a cartoon. If explosions and fires simply make a character "dirty", you're watching a cartoon. Generally, if the title of this piece of animation is thrust into your face and screamed at you, it's a cartoon. Animation can be for anyone, but cartoons are for kids.
-
BTW- go check out Wikipedia and make sure to have a paper bag handy. Honestly WTF!?!?!?!?!?
-
Bugs Bunny begs to differ.
-
All these CG movies are total crap and are not funny. They are made to sell happy meals and plastic shit. Their "humor" if you can call it that is based on having people act contemporary in a fantastical setting, that's it. Not funny and not entertaining for anyone more than six years old. Thank god the Japanese are finally making CG films because they just might be able to save the genre from the preschool anal vomit coming out of Hollywood.
-
Not because I want it too, but it'll win alone for the sappy opening. That's all anyone remembers from that boring film.
-
We are seeing everyone in the world trying to capitalize on how great Pixar is. In the 90's there was so much crap animation from all those trying to make a quick buck off of the hard work that Disney was putting into the genre. 10 years later and the same now with CGI, And Dreamworks is the biggest culprit. Pure Sh!t. Period. Not that Princess and the Frog is the greatest but 2012 can't come fast enough. I think the human race has it coming when The Chipmunks 2 makes money hand over fist while a very good Princess and the Frog struggles.
-
I mean is the movie one long masturbation joke?
-
The Vikings discovered America first! But decided it wasn't worth the effort...That said, this is teh first Dreamworks piece that actually has me interested! Maybe that Lilo & Stitch Guy can pull this off!

No sign of stupid song sung by a hilarious character?
by rossjohnson2806
Thats not like dreamworks...
Looks alright, i like the look of the dragon. -
There was a huge display for this right across from the line for Avatar (saw it in IMAX 3D and got there an hour early to get a good seat - 2/3 of the theater was already in line when we got there!) so people were talking about it quite a bit. I'd actually convinced myself that it was something I wanted to see. This trailer has changed my mind.
-
It has to be better than Reign of Fire and it's not fuckin' Shrek. I'll be seeing this one most definitely. Oh, and remember haters, go fuck yourselves!
-
makes you a hater
-
don't you hate that?
-
Because the movie looks great except for the awful, flat, nasally voice. Just completely lacking in emotion. Seriously.
-
Seriously, they look like Pokemon, and I doubt that's a coincidence.
-
I tire of all these animation cliches. The interjection of modern lingo in the dialogue, the cute kid blowing a lock of hair out of his/her face. It is all so played
-
Of course it is.
-
This looks cute enough (no overt pop-culture gags or fart jokes in the trailer, already a good sign), and having the Lilo & Stitch guy directing is nice, but I dunno...that's one weird-looking dragon design.
-
That's messed up.

Wow crappy looking CG animation from Dreamworks
by ben_richards_bomb_collar
SHOCKING
Don't they get tired of Pixar taking a big steamy dump on them every year? -
nice name
-
I love the salamander look. It's hard to make a CGI dragon look new and not just look like a Jurassic Park out-take. The salamander look is new, a looks cool to boot IMHO.
-
if they retitled it "How to Train your Daughter" and have Paul F. Little direct it.
-
It's nice to see dragon which don't look like every other dragon concept.
-
Not only is the kid viking an American, but in the trailer there is a Scottish viking. Go figure.
-
Chris Sanders just can't seem to let go of that mean little alien koala. Sad...anyway, I like dragons, dragons are fictional friends of mine, and I'm here to tell you, THAT ain't no dragon. Looks like Stitch crossed with Dracula in fledermaus mode.
-
Yeah speaking English with a "Viking" accent would make it soooooo ... realistic.
-
So love your salamanders until the cows come home. They look silly.
-
Cmph. (chuckles)

People will find a reason to hate this because it's Dreamworks

So what if it doesn't look like a "Dragon" whatever that means?
by avastar
Dragons as myth exist in cultures all over the world including East Asia, Norse, English, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, among others. Whose to say what they look like? Plus FALCOR was a dragon and he looked like a dog. And Falcor owns your fucking asses trolls!!
-
the kid to yell out that he chooses the dragon. that main one totally looks like a pokemon design, its the eyes and head i think.
-
so it doesn't spit earlier than it should... Sounds like a late night info-mercial..
-
stroke it to the verge of climax and then squeeze very hard at the base to choke back the "fire". Try this with varying stimulus from mild(lady dragon in a bathing suit)in the beginning and working up to very strong stimulus(pictures of Amy Winehouse with her ass cheeks spread). Hey, this is dragon stimulus. No one said you would like it. Like training a dragon was gonna be easy. Make sure you mop up all the "fire" when your done too.
-
...How To Train Your DRAGON and it looks like a Pokemon salamander. I'm not hating and I have nothing against Dreamworks. I said above that groups of people were discussing this movie (via a large display) while waiting in line for Avatar. Then, I wanted to see it. Now, after watching this Pokemon salamander trailer, I don't. And yes yes, I know about all the different dragons of myth... this one looks like none of them.
-
It could be good, it could totally flop. I'm into dragons, and it looks pretty funny (I admit it, I laughed near the end of the trailer). Plus, after seeing that huge poster thingy in the theater for the past couple of months, it's finally nice to see what it is possibly about. Can't wait to see it.
-
I really don't get the dragon design complaints.
-
The first bit of music is from Disney's Dinosaur, and I believe the second is from Eragon. So you were correct about both composers.
-
Good to see Dean is directing another film, after "Lilo and Stitch" and "Sigor Ros." Brilliant director. His co-director Kris Sandoz is a good artist, too.
-
the "father" Viking.... good choice, but i see in the near future that Butler is starting to appear in a lot of films, and i think he's a couple films away from over exposed.... I did like "Law Abiding Citizen"..... as for the movie, I think it will be good, and i like the idea of the "different" looking dragons.......... we'll see

Pixar here and Pixar there and Pixar everywhere
by walts_turning_inthegrave
God it must be hard to have all of your collective heads so deep up Pixar ass that you can't fathom the idea of another studio coming out with a good movie. I'm looking forward to this movie and hope that it's really good so Chris Sanders could shit on Lasseter’s face for driving him away from Disney.
