Figures in grey represent repeats.
* With “The Office” and ABC’s soaps in repeats, the last Thursday “Survivor” of the year ruled the night’s 18-49 demo (though “Mentalist” and “CSI,” as usual, attracted more viewers overall).
* The reruns also helped the “SNL” Christmas clip show garner a 2.9 in 18-49 in the 8 p.m. half-hour -- NBC’s best number this season in the old “Friends” slot. “Community” never got above a 2.3 there and – get this! – 2009’s three all-new half-hour “SNL” shows never did better than a 2.0 at 8 p.m.
* “SNL” was apparently also more helpful than “30 Rock” to “Leno,” which hit its best number in nine weeks.
* “Jersey Shore” made another sizeable leap upward in its third week. If it keeps up like this it could overtake “Leno” next Thursday.

They advertised it as a clip show, but hinted there could be some new material...was there? Was it any good? Was any of it worth tracking down the episode for? I forgot to set my DVR for it, kind of unhappy now. At least I could have enjoyed classic christmas skits from holidays past. Oh well.

Can't wait for sunday. A great season of a *still* great show. I hope it goes another 10 years.I wonder what Russell will say to the jury to convince them to give him the money?
-
Provided he makes it to the final two - or three. Did I mention that Natalie is hot? Island life agrees with her.
-
How to you determine to make a skit character into a franchise? Judging by the live show, if a character can flail around on stage for six minutes and draw NO laughter, then it must be a winner.
-
to Crow3711 i saw the SNL special, and there were some new segments, almost all of which involved Gilly. and yes, it was as tiresome as that sounds. it was cool to see mr robinsons neighborhood reruns though and alec npr "shweaty balls" again. and there was an alec baldwin elf sketch that was hilarious from a few years ago i didnt recognize. the only thing worth tracking down if you hadnt seen it already

If this is as big a hit for MTV as it looks, we will see clones of this show for the next 20 years. God help us all.
-
Of everything else on MTV.

...was the first dip in quality for me this season (other than the fact that there still hasn't been one word of explanation for Sara's return). I've actually really liked this season. But last night everybody seemed off. Bad directing maybe? Not really sure. Thankfully the last five minutes pulled it up to a point where I wasn't pissed off that I wasted an hour of my life on it. But still, I'm starting to wonder if it might not be back next season.
-
...the character is pretty fucking weak. DO NOT MAKE MOVIE.
-
but Kristen Wiig has been just totally one-note with all her recurring characters, and that one note is flat! The old clips were what I was there for anyway; like another poster I had never seen the Alec Baldwin Glengarry elf bit. Loved it when Baldwin flubbed the reading of ABC!
-
I'm stumped.
-
It just goes to show you people will watch dumb shit--and the dumber the better. If they put on a show called "Drunk Retards" where they got a bunch of special ed. kids wasted on cheap beer then filmed them running amuck on some beach, I'm sure it would garner huge ratings.
-
They did make a brief one in the first episode she was back. Grissom got a job lecturing at a University in France for 6 months or year or something. She wasn't too keen on living in France for whatever reason and had heard the team needed help because the blond girl from last few seasons left. So she came back temporarily.Wow, ABC's soaps do not fare well in reruns compared to what they usually get.

I'd rather watch that Snookie girl get punched in the face
by presidentleprechaun
in a looped animated gif for an hour than watch Jersey Shore. And I'm not a mysoginist, I'd enjoy watching any of the Jersey Shore douche bag dudes get his ass beat down.

But that Gilly character made me switch real quick. It's sad how shows like SNL and the Simpsons, both of which I loved as a kid, are so bad it's depressing these days. And yeah, at first Kristen Wiig seemed like she'd be decent but everything I've seen her do on that show has been gawdawful. SNL needs it's balls back. They need better writers and a funnier cast, because right now being on SNL is like playing for the Detroit Lions...no one wants to be part of a team that sucks that bad.
-
I think SNL would benefit from moving to HBO or Showtime, where there are no censors to worry about. But I know NBC would never let them go.
-
while making cookies. I was there for the old clips. The Gilly stuff was horrible (made to amuse 7-year-olds?) Steve Martin was awkward and unfunny in a short intro to his classic Christmas Wish bit - with a LAUGH TRACK! Gah! I had to bail. Sadly, NBC will think we love Gilly - we love the old stuff that was funny.
-
just sayin.
-
Was damn funny. Timberlake is a pretty funny guy I must say. He has good comic timing. The Christmas Dinner and Santa's My Boyfriend skits were good too.
-
I know everyone loves kristen wiig, but i don't get what the big deal is. i mean some her stuff is okay but not fantastic by any means, and this Gilly shit is plain unfunny.
Oh which reminds me, Fuck you Leno! -
I don't know how anybody could find her funny. Hell, I think even fans of the Love Guru would find this character to be shite.
-
You *wouldn't* watch a show called "Drunk Retards?" That's probably one of the best ideas for a TV show I've ever heard. Make it happen, MTV!
-
I still laugh at that Dana Carvey as George Bailey kicking the hell out of John Lovitz' old man Potter skit. That's good shit.
-
I hear he has a truck with a flat bed bigger than Herc's whole 1 room apartment. But he never drives it cause its all the way behind his hundreds of other cars at one of his houses.
Oh and Jason Lee gets more money from one residual check off My Name is Earl than Herc has earned in his entire life cumulative. -
Worst. SNL. Character. Ever. And that's saying alot. Sincerely, every character Cheri Oteri ever did.
-
Remember that shit!?
