Here's A Look At That Long-Term, Frequently Refreshed TRON LEGACY Billboard In L.A.!!

Published at:  Jan 06, 2010 12:12:37 PM CST

Merrick here...

A few days ago we mentioned that a new TRON LEGACY billboard was being erected (hehe, I said "erected") on the corner of Santa Monica & Glendon in Westwood (Los Angeles area).

SickGirl was kind enough to snap a pic of said billboard and send it in for all to see. I know this is kinda small - we're hoping to find a bigger image shortly.

This billboard will remain in place until the film's December 2010 opening - but the image on it will change monthly.

Here's the first billboard of, what, 12 or 13 more to come?

Literally, JUST as I initially posted this article, Max sent in the following promo art. This was released to 10 lucky users on Facebook today & seems like it's (more or less) the same image seen on the billboard above. And it's so, so cool...

I had to. I'm usually so late to this site that I'm lucky to post in the first 100.
Beautiful image, and a perfect billboard ad. I wasn't really excited about Tron Legacy before, but now I'm definitely intrigued. Can't wait to see more!

This was posted in chud's talkback what haveyous. Not sure if people have seen this http://tinyurl.com/ykywzph It's a roundtable with Peter Jackson, Cameron, Tarantino, Bigelow, Reitmen, and Daniels. It's short and kind of puff, but it's always fun seeing a mix of directors conversing.

Disney hasn't gotten this much love in a long, LONG time.

    by royston lodge

Tron. Alice. Black Hole. Princess & Frog.
If the movies live up to expectations, it'll mean a serious renaissance for the House of Mouse.
How long has it been since geeks actually had warm thoughts about that company?
For me, the last time I thought of their stuff fondly was The Great Mouse Detective. Ever since then they've just been pumping out animated broadway musicals.
How long you figure before they bring back the suck?

And helped the eventual Pixar merger. Which pretty much led directly to the green lighting of projects like Princess and Tron Legacy. You will be missed, Roy. Godspeed.

I totally never realized the guy was that old. It was very interesting to hear or read what he had to say on the rare occasions he was interviewed. He had knowledge of the past, frustration about the present, and you could tell he was holding back on both counts.

Roy Disney will likely not get the credit due

    by rkdn

Not only did he fall on his sword for to preserve what dignity was left at Disney Studios, but he effortlessly and tirelessly worked with Eisner to 'de-Eisner' everything that had gone terribly wrong.
In a fair and just world, he would get a bronze statue next to Walt and Mikey in the middle of Main Street, USA.

Santa Monica ( West Hollywood ) has those nice electronic billboards that changes on a fly. Why didn't they use those instead ??? You'd think they'd save some money with the elctronic ones than printed ones. Oh well...

    by geekzapoppin

I read at least an early script. Unless there are MAJOR rewrites, meaning starting over, the film will be awful. It reminds me of reading the scripts for the last two STAR WARS prequels before seeing the films. Crushing disappointment followed by resignation.
