I think it'd be fun to have the first segment of the queue be "the real world" and then have a digitizing room where people are 'digitized' in batches and then the queue design changes to be all circuit-y and blacklight-y or whatever works well.
Dec. 12, 2009, 10:03 p.m. CST

I'd never heard of this game before but liked seeing the trailer.
Dec. 12, 2009, 10:45 p.m. CST
that was actually pretty damned cool
I've seen the first "Tron" movie more times than I can remember. I love the DVD and i have watched every specisl feature at least twice. I can't wait to see this movie. I probably go see it as soon as ot hits the big screen and every day after it makes it to the dollar theatre.
Dec. 12, 2009, 11:03 p.m. CST
I'd love to see that ride. The Tron ride potential is actually really good. I am surprised it was never done before! Just imagine being placed in one of the light cycles! Though now that I think about it it would have to be more of a light car or van to fit enough people into it. Maybe a ride isn't as easy a transition as I thought!
Dec. 13, 2009, 12:25 a.m. CST
Back in the old days the Peoplemover ride in Tomorrowland had a Tron section. It was the lightcycle game sequence from the movie projected onto the walls as the peoplemover car went by. They even blew air past the car to make it feel like you were going at lightcycle speeds! Altogether, that part of the Peoplemover ride was about a minute long.

I have a pal here in Orlando who works for Disney and he heard there is talk of an animated series of TRON in the works and he knows some Imagineers in California already working on a few concepts for a ride for the theme parks, if thats true, thats pretty rad man!

Sorry to barge in on other talks but-- Gene Barry died today and no mention of it on AICN. Sup? Hero of WAR OF THE WORLDS! And you're spending precious space talking about Sex and the City 2?!? C'mon give it up for Dr Forester, Gene Barry - RIP.

Love him as Ra's Al Ghul from Batman 90's cartoon. When I catch him in other things like Titanic, or even the 2001 Planet of the Apes it makes me smile. Hopefully in this one he can be a good guy? That would be a nice change, but as long as he's in here that would be great. I thought he was an excellent villain in the first Tron, and I'd love to see a modern version of that big desk he had in his office from the first.
Dec. 13, 2009, 11:36 a.m. CST
Cant wait..been waiting ever since 82(when I was 8) for more Tron stuff....And yea i remember the people mover with the grid sequence as you ride through. I wish that was still there. Maybe they can actually do a Tron ride...

Because that's what is at Little Santa Monica & Glendon. The sad part is, I actually will check the area next time I'm on the west side just in case. But fuckin' A dude, more details would be nice.

that teaser got me more pumped than anything else sci-fi related in many, many years... including Avatar, D9, the SW prequels, and Moon. I should add, I loved D9 and Moon and am pumped to see Avatar, but that Tron teaser sent shivers down my spine for what could be.

Cool, I can see it from my apartment. I'll be looking for it.

TRON is one of my favorite films of all-time. But when I say i'm a HUGE fan of TRON doesn't mean my life evolves around TRON like those compulsive types who has to collect EVERYTHING that is TRON. The only holy grail I own of TRON is a 20th anniversary edition DVD signed by the cast and crew. I don't need anything else! TRON moved me as a 5 year old in 1982 at the El Rey Theatre on Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles! I remember the advertisments on TV and the 3,2,1 Contact issue featuring an expose' on TRON. There was NOTHING like it of its kind! Star Wars was unique, too. But I realized I was a real sucker for glowing things and computer animation. I didn't undertand the plot to TRON until I was abit older. I still love the screenplay of the original. It all makes sense to me in the sequel. 20+ years have passed. Technology has advanced. Ofcourse they look the way they do in 2009! The characters in the Tron world are supposed to look realistic hence these new video game consoles ( ie PS3 & 360 ). People's dislike of the new designs - you're gonna have to explain why you don't approve of them. Don't you realize the original Director Steven Lisberger is still very much involved with the concept? I sat in on a Q&A with the original Director and the man pretty deep spiritually. He's not a typical Hollywood guy. He believes in innovation. I'm starting to believe the haters of the new designs don't understand of the progression of technology.

My most anticipated movie of the decade. Seriously. I've always been a huge Tron fan, and wondered why, especially after The Matrix hit, there wasn't some kind of sequel. Now, finally, there is.

BTW, I just read that Natalie Portman is making Pride and Prejudice and Zombies into a movie. With her starring, natch. Now, that's cool news!

http://tinyurl.com/yce5dlw

That I know someone who is working on the toys for this movie. I wonder if they get to see the movie or just parts of it.
Dec. 14, 2009, 12:46 p.m. CST
Generally, toy manufacturers are given costume and prop designs and maybe a few stills along with bare pics to build the packaging designs around. It's something of a rarity for them to get to see even a frame of the actual product.
Dec. 14, 2009, 1:18 p.m. CST
...is there going to be a Tron in their little Tron movie?
Dec. 14, 2009, 1:30 p.m. CST
Here's an mp3 file of a rock opera version of TRON a few minutes long: http://tinyurl.com/ybhbsfv mp3 format. There's some sung profanity so it's probably not work-appropriate.
Dec. 14, 2009, 2:53 p.m. CST
Which would explain why most toys for movies suck balls.

@UltraTron - Syd Mead was neither involved with the TRON 2.0 video game designs and the sales for the game were abysmal. Even though the "look" of original TRON film was there in 2.0. Who knows who decided not to bring Syd Mead onboard Legacy or wether Syd himself decided not to do the Legacy project anyways. Although I do appreciate what Syd Mead had brought to the original an left an impression. Syd Mead isn't the only futurist we'll ever have. Fact of the matter is you're not gonna win over every TRON geek with TRON Legacy wether or not Syd Mead is involved. TRON happened at a different time and most of us were younger and without cynical views like this Talkback is NOTORIOUS for.

Would love to see the pics! If I lived in LA I'd be getting some phone-cam shots for y'all. Can someone there help a brother out?
