And while it is interesting, and fun to watch, objectively, as someone who isnt a fanboy, it doesn't really have a good plot. The story makes very little sense. Scene by scene its cool, but overall, the story about the corporation guy and the scientists, and even Flynn himself, is very weak. I don't care how cool a movie is, if Tron Legacy doesn't have a better story, it won't matter at all to me. Substance matters.

Original movie was more or less a straight-out action/corporate thriller. If "Legacy" plays up the son/daddy angle too much, I hope it won't squash the film's NADS potential.

I remember that simpsons episode where Homer was stuq in another dimension where he was rendered in 3d, and when his family and fellow springfield citizens were inquiring about this dimension, he asked if anyone had ever seen tron, and everyone in the room said no; I think chief wiggum said yes, then quickly said no again. I took that as a slap to the face cuz I like tron, my dad kinda looks like bruce boxleitner. And in case you're wondering, no I don't like babylon 5. Tried to get into it, but my dad looking like "b-box" (remember from now on you read me referring to boxleitner as b-box here first!;) ) wasn't enough for me to like babylon 5.

The TRON: LEGACY teaser featured considerably more eyeball-fucking than AVATAR has shown so far. The sight of Jeff Bridges' Flynn resembling the reclusive Howard Hughes inside the computer world (Now the internet?), right down to walking around barefoot, instantly grabbed my attention. AVATAR, meanwhile, seems like it's going to live up to its "DANCES WITH SMURFS" nickname.

Okay, the original TRON came out waaaaay back in 1982, but if I'm not supposed to get pumped over a sequel to a 27-year-old movie that I never expected to see in favor of a movie from a guy that hasn't made a decent science-fiction movie since 1991 because he became overly obsessed with the Titanic, then I guess I'll just have to live with your disappointment.

Praying that it's good. Watched the original with my 5 year old son last week. It's great for what it was. Definitely a product of the 80s. Legacy will have to be significantly different to be a good modern movie. The original had little to no logic in it what-so-ever. Especially if you knew ANYTHING at all about how computers work. Being that most people these days own and operate a computer I'm certain the filmmakers will use some logic this time around.

Loved the original movie. I will like the sequel, almost no matter what, just because they made it. Will definitely go see it in 3d, which I may not do for any 3d movie up until that point. Cuz it costs more money, and usually I don't care. But I'd go see the original Tron if they put in 3d. Love that movie. Can't wait for the sequel.

YAY! The original was a great film, brilliant and with a fascinating take on the relationship of machine and man as a reflection of man and God (pay attention to the film again, the "programs" are people, the "users" are gods) without being overtly or preachily religious. It bums me out to see so many folks here who think it's so much less than it is in terms of plot - just because it's a simple story doesn't mean it's not told in an elegant and nuanced manner that can be approached by any and all audiences. Tron blew my mind as a kid, I even looked forward to riding the People Mover at Disneyland after they added those 2 killer Tron rooms that were a HUGE 360 projections. Visually, it was a triumph, and plot-wise it was exactly what it needed to be. I really hope this new one can keep that same balance. JT-One, from his I/O tower, out.

...just a few months ago, and I have to admit, I can understand why it would have had such an impact on kids back in the day. I mean, there are some mild pacing issues and leaps in logic, but despite that, the digital world the producers created was fantastic. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Are the only movies I care about seeing at this point. I'll wait to RENT the rest of the films released.
Those 3 will be the only films worth seeing in my not so humble opinion. And are the only movies that will get my hard earned cash. I expect to see those 3 several times in the theater rather than wasting 12.50 on the other crap.
Johnston's Wolf Man is sounding/looking promising though and the news of an R rating doesn't hurt it either. -

I was 8 when it came out, and I just thought it looked a bit naff compared to my beloved Star Wars (what didn't?) so I ignored it completely. After seeing the teaser for this sequel I thought I should check it out...it's a bit shit, really, but I kinda liked it. Even with the dodgy script and outdated ideas of what computers would be able to do. I look forward to the sequel, but note to Disney: GET YER SHITEY LOGO OFF THE POSTER IF YOU WANT IT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY! Or at least move it several inches the fuck away from the TRON logo...

RoboCop 2 came out in 1990, don't think it really used much in the way of computer graphics, it was mostly stop motion animation and pratical effects. The height of CGI in 92 was probably T2 (released the previous summer), then a year later Jurassic Park really set a new standard.

Yes, the story was weak but the design was awesome. It's a good movie to watch with the sound turned off. I think everyone's hoping for the same unique "look" but with A MUCH better story. I saw at 10 and yeah, even then I thought the story was pretty uninvolving.
