I’m Sorry To Tell You Sunday Does Bring THE AMAZING RACE To Another Finish Line!!

Published at:  Dec 06, 2009 6:41:06 AM CST

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

It seems so long ago that married fortysomething yoga studio owners Eric & Lisa Paskel learned they wouldn’t even get past the Los Angeles Riverbed starting line.

Since then we’ve lost the Zev the Asperger’s guy, Lance the boorish attorney, hot poker pros Maria & Tiffany (they couldn’t ring the bell or swing the golf club!), the non-boning Christian couple (was she the one whose faith was not strong enough to get her down that water slide?), and of course Globetrotters Flight Time and Big Easy.

Now we’re down to three teams of twentysomethings:

* Dating blonde athletic Southern California executives Meghan Rickey (23) & Cheyne Whitney (23);

* Gay brothers Dan (21) & Sam McMillen (23) of Liberty, Mo; and

* 2004 Miss America Ericka Dunlap (27) & marketing tour manager husband Brian Kleinschmidt (27), from Nashville.

For years “The Amazing Race” has teetered on the verge of cancellation (I think it might have actually been cancelled at one point), but now it’s easily CBS’ strongest Sunday-night series.

A possible spoiler for the next edition of “Amazing Race” lurks in invisotext. This summer’s “Big Brother 11” winner Jordan Lloyd (whom I’ve seen naked!) and her showmance Jeff Schroeder were spotted about a week ago sprinting through Los Angeles International wearing backpacks and matching aqua outfits.

8 p.m. Sunday. CBS.

    It's not really a spoiler

    by thebige

EW.com posted that invisotext stuff on the front page of their website, I don't really count it as a spoiler anymore, except I have NO idea who those two are! Should I be watching Big Brother? At the risk of losing brain cells? Now that Flight Time and Big Easy are out I have no one to root for. As long as the whiny brothers don't win I'll be happy. Amazing Race hasn't been as fun for the last few seasons - maybe the challenges are getting old - but still better than 95% of what's on TV. I'd like to see another All-Star season - just leave those WV hill billies home!

Big Easy's a dumbass for not sticking with that challenge.

    by shermdawg

No one left to root for, AGAIN. The blonds are boring, the brothers are whiny douches, and jungle fever got by with the skin of their teeth. That along with Phil no longer saying "A Roadblock is a task only one person can perform" made this season such a disappointment.

I still can't believe he just gave up like that. Sure, he'd been at it for 2.5 hours or so but taking a 4-hour penalty instead of continuing to try to get it is just giving up. There was nothing strategic about it, all the other teams had already moved on. Sitting on your ass for 4 hours, giving Brian & Erica a 4 hour cushion (which, it seemed, they needed) is not a strategy, it is admitting defeat. For the life of me, I can't understand why it was so hard for him. Did he not believe that the brother had given him the correct first letter? Was he really just randomly guessing? Had he taken a second to think about I don't see how he couldn't have gotten it. Everyone else got it, so unless they just got lucky, they figured it out, and it probably isn't a Czech word; it's something the other players realized "this is how the letters go together". So, starting with "F", which letters best follow it? "N" and "Z" are awkward; "A" and "R" are more natural - then go from there. The brother was right, with the first letter he should have gotten it in 5 minutes.

Oh, that was last season, wasn't it? I can't believe people would go through all that mess traveling around the world, and give up on one simple challenge, being so close to the end. That shit would tick me off forever.
I agree with Shermdawg. Nobody to cheer for. Hurry up, next season.

    by godzthor1

If Big Easy had just taken the F in front for granted, there were only 24 possible combinations left. If he had then made the reasonable assumption that, of the remaining letters (3 consonants, 1 vowel), the vowel was most likely in the middle, that knocks down the possible combinations to 6. 6! And he couldn't even figure that out? Or that, since the other teams had gotten it relatively quickly, the soluton was most likely a name or very simple word? They deserved to lose.

    A win by default

    by the mcpoyle clan

Whiny bros--nope. Whiny pageant winner (I don't know how he puts up with her)--nope. Who's left? The 'trotters were easy to root for, but the writing was on the wall when they had trouble with the puzzle involving the watch and the briefcase. The last leg always includes a mental challenge (though this one was lame) and they didn't even make it that far.

    Weak finale

Sam and Dan continued to prove they were douches. The black chick looked like crap. Megan looked hot, but she's so needy. Cheyne was the only decent person on that whole race.

    "Weak finale"

    by big jim

I haven't watched all seasons, but the past few have always had a memory challenge - one where the players need to put in order a series of images related to places visited and challenges. Why not this time? Although, at least this time the race wasn't all but over when the first team completed the final challenge; they had to go from there to find Wayne Newton to get the location of the finish line. Last time it was straight from the challenge directly to the end. So, unless another team also finished within a few minutes, the first pretty much had it won. This time there was a moment of doubt when they showed Megan & Cheyne going to the wrong gate, then run across the street to see if that was it. I was thinking, "how much would that suck to lose the race because your cab driver doesn't really know where he is going?". It's one thing to get eliminated because of that, but for it to happen on the way to the finish line, to lose your lead and ultimately a million bucks, for want of a knowledgeable cabbie, would be the worst. My Kingdom for a Horse, indeed.
