Figures in grey are for repeats.

* “FlashForward” hit its lowest number ever with its last episode of 2009. ABC announced at episode’s end that the series would not return until March 5.

* When "FlashForward" premiered 10 weeks ago, it beat "Survivor" to take first-place at 8 p.m. Now it's in fourth place at 8 p.m. behind "Community."

* Thanks surely to the absence of new "Grey's Anatomy" and “CSI,” “Fringe” made a huge 25% surge, hitting its best number since its season premiere 11 weeks ago.

* Competing against a new “Private Practice” instead of a “Grey’s,” a new “Office” won the night in 18-49 for the first time this season.

* “Survivor” was second in 18-49 and won the night’s most viewers.

* Every episode broadcast in the 8 p.m. hour was up except “FlashForward.”

* “Leno” again matched its Thursday low, again beaten badly by a “Mentalist” repeat. NBC Universal chief Jeff Zucker just told CNBC that Leno has had a "greater impact" on NBC affiliates as a lead-in for local news than expected. “That's obviously something we're assessing,” he allowed:

    by amy chasing

until March 4, so it doesn't compete with the Winter Olympics.

My only problem with the show is that every character has their own story full of little details that you learn about week by week, but I don't know anyone who can remember them all. And by March 4 I don't think I can be bothered watching the whole show again to catch up.

    Rumors vs. News

    by incomplete gamer

You can't say that it got canceled when it hasn't. Now, you may be right, it may (and probably WILL) get canceled, but a rumor is not a source. Either way, I hope they manage to wrap things up in a satisfying way. This season has been pretty good, even though I still have problems with the story telling.

A show with one long continuous storyline, lots of characters with their own subplots, and they put a *4* month break in the middle of the season?? Idiots. At the least they should start the season over as repeats in the meantime, for folks that missed it and don't want to watch the Olympics.

"According a source close to the show..." Really? What source? How close are they to the show? This article is so blind it might as well be called Stevie Wonder.

Sure, barring a decent turnaround on the ratings, it looks likely this is HEROES' last season, but at least back your shit up if you're officially calling the time of death.

    The thing about HEROES

While its ratings have fallen ridiculously, NBC is such a disaster that "Heroes" is still its fourth-biggest scripted series, after "The Office, "30 Rock" and "SVU."

    Gislef_crow is correct

    by nalapou

The Aussie and English airings of FlashForward put the episode out early on the bit torrents. So I'm guessing that had at least a little to do with the plummet... I know I had already seen it. Also, creatively this was probably the best episode since the pilot. Which isn't saying much since every episode since the pilot hasn't exactly been stellar... but nonetheless.

    by itchy

Though if NBC was smart, they'd immediately put on a new, better written Watchment / X-Men ripoff. It's a great idea and would make a fabulous hourlong drama ... but they need better actors and for Christ's sake, better writers. None of those a-holes deserves to write in Hollywood again. I daresay you could pick any 5 people at random off this forum and come up with a more exciting, more logical and more cohesive plot arc for a superhero show than the shits that Heroes has been since Episode 1, Season Two.

I don't understand why FF is doing so poorly

    by jacksparasites

I really don't get it. It's a smart sci-fi show with some decent action and drama. And unlike other Lost-wannabe shows, it actually has a compelling mystery and does a good job of moving things forward at a good pace so that you don't feel like you did in the early days of Lost where every time they tease you with the possibility of learning something new, the guy about to spill gets shot and dies. And this move by ABC to put it on hiatus is only going to hurt the show, especially since an episode was supposed to air on the same date as the date of the flash forward within the show, presumably the episode they'd been building towards. Flash Forward needs some serious fan support right now. Hell, even half decent scripted television needs help right now. You know that if FF gets canceled they're just going to fill the slot with some insipid reality show where idiots who get their jollies breaking into Washington parties or pretending their kid's trapped in a balloon get voted off each week, which even the Flash Forward haters will likely consider far worse than Flash Forward.

    by lagomorph

Agree with CatVutt. FF is a great concept that the writers have royally fucked. From episode one they messed up. 20 billion people die in one day, untold damages done to the world (and untold shockwaves to endure), and somehow it all seems pretty well sweeped up by episode 2. There is no possbile way these boring people would have time to get bogged down in the minutae of their boring personal lives. There would be mass suicides, cults, religious freak outs, rioting, militias, people giving up, people questioning everything. For every good thing the show does (The Blue Hand Cult arc), it is undermined by the central premise being so poorly executed out the gate.

Monk had its final episode tonight, and White Collar had...

    by chewtoy

...a hell of a plot twist. I guess we have to wait until the ratings for tonight are posted before getting a good excuse to talk about them?
To get a jump on things: While I like that Monk took the time to deal with the characters after the end of the mystery, it really did feel meandering for a good while there before it finally wrapped things up. A nice place to leave the characters, but, much like the series itself, the end wasn't especially moving or great television, but not bad.
With White Collar... I really don't know where the show will be heading when it returns with new episodes. That shakes up the premise more than I would have expected this early on... Not sure how I feel about that yet.

But that's the cool thing about the show. We already saw that you can change your FF, because the one guy's daughter came back to life. but when they had the FF, they weren't aware they could change anything. Think of the FF's like Back to the Future

    by lockesbrokenleg

When they had the first FF, everyone blacked out for 2 minutes to a date in the future where each person had a vision. This show already says you can change THAT flashforward because you can change time.

    Back to the Futureness

    by domi'sinnerchild

True, but they royally screwed up by spending like two months debating if it was all fate and that they couldn't chance the future. Worse, they tried to be all clever and have each character conviced it was fate/wasn't fate and then "something incredible" happens during each episode to make them flip/flop on their stance. All somebody had to do was chop of a finger or anything else permanent to prove you could change what happened in the vision. Another thing dumb was the visions that were guiding them to their visions (the guy who turned black who should have died without his vision, suicide guy going to Japan... two issues there, dad of the autistic kid ending up in the hospital to hit on the wife, etc.). Those couldn't happen because the flashforward hadn't happened yet in the time stream the everybody saw. Unless it's somehow a second Flashforward inside the orignal one.

the first thing they should do is excise anybody and anything not involved with the FBI or the conspiracy. It's actually tolerable when they concentrate on the investigation, but the horrible, horrible AA sponsor, Sulu's wife, and the rest stop all momentum when they appear. It will be interesting to see where White Collar goes with that reveal. Enjoyable show, but I wish it was more consistent. And though I don't play for that team, the dude who plays Caffrey is disturbingly handsome.NBC schedule in 2011 = 21 hours of Leno per week, interspersed with Comcast's targeted advertising.

If you think about the first season of Lost it was all about flashbacks (whether relevant or not) and all we really knew after the first season was the hatch... Maybe they shouldn't have introduced the protagonists until much later on ? I dunno.. will still give it time whereas I gave up on Heroes after 3 eps this season... Deaf cello girl just made me go - I so don't care....

This was the funniest episode ever of 30 Rock.

    by sid 8.0

The HD camera knocked it right out of the park. Liz's face, Kenneth as a muppet and the best Jack looking like "Hunt for Red October" era Alec Baldwin FTW. Plus Liz having to cry out of her mouth because of the "lasig" eye surgery. Community just gets better and better to. "Hurry up before people start sexing eaching other."

Agree with you, Cronenberg. I want to do things to her that would get me arrested in Thailand. Her body is amazing.

Agreed about the HD camera. I thought the Liz closeup was funny, then the Kenneth muppet. The shot of young Alec Baldwin was the capper.

People who haven't watched FF are not going to start, because they know they won't know what's going on.

We have seen in other FlashForwards that people

    by big jim

experience more than simply the visual. Suicidal Doctor talks about the feeling of love he had for the Japanese girl; Babysitter remembers feeling like she deserved to be drowned; Pregnant Agent felt joy at her sonogram. The show made clear that the characters also experienced the emotions of the moment. How then, does Gabrielle Union's character mistake a wake for a wedding? Are we to assume the emotions she felt during her flashforward (loss, despair, sadness, emptiness, etc), emotions one would feel at the funeral of a recently deceased fiancee, she mistook all that for "wedding jitters"? Either it's bad writing or she's the one who shoots him. I guess we'll have to wait 'til Spring to find out.

    Heroes, Flashforward, Community

    by bueno_bob

Heroes - nothing wrong with it that a new time/day can't fix. Flashforward - not the greatest show in the world, some episodes are better than others, but it's not horrible; Community - massively overrated suckfest.

    Flashforward

ABC has a real problem of taking shows off the air for months at a time...remember Eli Stone? That was a WONDERFUL show that ABC killed off the exact same way.

I'd like to see an FF someone has where they didn't

    by lockesbrokenleg

make any difference in the story, but by the time the real day comes around they're in a position to kick ass. Like the FBI Boss who was in the men's room during the FF.

Community and Parks and Rec. are up, even if it's just slightly. I look forward to those two more than The Office and 30 Rock.

    Comcast and NBC : RELAX!

    by v'shael

This is no different than when General Electric owned NBC. Or Disney buying ABC. Or when Viacom bought out Paramount.

Americas mass media delivery systems have been owned by massive umbrella corporations for *decades*. The Comcast story is not the end of the world as YOU know it, it's just a continuation of the same old world you've known for the last 30 years.

Your news networks will still pretend to cover *both* sides of issues which have way more than two sides, and they'll define the narrow political spectrum into ever thinner slices, so you can call people outside that narrow spectrum "extremists".
So relax fnord. Just relax. American Gladiators is on. Watch the shiny shiny baubles, America and go back to sleep.

    by v'shael

You don't even know what my country is, you twat.

And if you think pirate copies of every currently in-theatre movie isn't pirated in the US, take a trip to Time Square. They're all there, for 5 - 10 bucks depending on which dodgy street corner you buy them from.

    Feeling emotions on FF

    by gislef_crow

I'm not sure how much is the person actually feeling what their future selves are feeling, and how much they're projecting. If I have a vision of a Japanese restaurant and a woman comes in and looks longingly at me, I'm going to figure I have feelings her. If I'm sitting there and being told I'm pregnant, I'm going to feel joy if I subconsciously want a kid. If I hate the idea, I'd probably think my future self hated the kid too. If someone was drowning me and I felt subconsciously guilty, I'd think I deserved it.
So I think the emotion-visions are as much the present-self person's project their current emotions. Zoey wants a happy marriage, so she projected that it was a happy marriage, until she went back and realized Demetri's parents would never come to the marriage. Heck, seeing them there might have reinforced her "happily ever after" attitude.

    Long hiatus'

    by ryanbraun14

Why are people so furious about these hiatus'??? Every year quite a handful of shows go on extended hiatus'... you're all thinking too much about it... and all the anger about how fringe will definately get cancelled is totally unnecessary... you guys should chill out and stop letting your own speculation get you so worked up. fringe will be fine. i won't watch FF (have the episodes) until i hear one of two things: it will get a season 2 or it will close out the story by the season finale.

Media Messiah should take note of last 30 rock

    by ryanbraun14

If media messiah got off whedon's dick and decided to base his learning about writing by watching tv, it should be last week's 30 rock--tina fey showed she is an incredible writer: the scene where the Frank is ranting like liz--yeah, he was kinda made to look like her, but what was so damn impressive was the writing: if you really listen, or read alot and can spot good dialogue, you can hear, in the writing, a distinct liz voice--not because of the look, not the acting, but the fucking words. that's what seperates the good from the bad--distinct and recognizable lines, word use, and sentence structure unique to a character.
