Updated With On-Set Footage!! Some Video To Get You In The Mood For LOST’s Final Season!!

Published at:  Dec 02, 2009 3:50:21 PM CST

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

I’ve little idea if this is truly studio-sanctioned, but it amuses me:

The fellow who forwarded it writes:

From the Spanish Network "Cuatro", an INCREDIBLE promo video was released for the final season of LOST. Cuatro also did a really cool interview/report from the set of LOST as they were filming season 6. It featured interviews with Terry O'Quinn, Michael Emerson, Naveen Andrews, Nestor Carbonell and Emilie DeRavin which was the major spoiler, in full Danielle gear. Also footage of flight 815 wreckage was shown.

While Damon and Carlton have said ABC wont release any promo pictures or promo videos featuring any footage of Season 6, to perserve the mystery....Cuatro did an incredible job with this promo video. A must see.

Update! A bit more:

Herc.

Here is the interview video to add to the post, from the message I sent you previously with the other video. This is the on set interview video with Terry, Michael, Naveen, and Emilie in her Daniellesque outfit, along with a look at plane crash wreckage. Most of it is in Spanish, excluding the actors that were interviewed...but still a cool video:

“Lost” returns to ABC Feb. 2, two months and a day from now.

What a great thematic choice for the last season. Only if ABC had balls to pick a song like that instead of some Fray bullshit. Although they did use a piece of A Silver Mt Zion for a commercial last year. Lastly, why are we talking about Six Feet Under? Apples and oranges people.

    by philo_farnsworth_lives

My Spanish is a bit rusty, but I believe Nestor said the producers said they will reveal some insight into his character's background, but won't necessarily answer every question (no surprise there). The interviewer then says that there are no coincidences in LOST, so why does his character look Egyptian? Nestor then laughs and says, "I can't tell you that."

    Titus05: "Claire as Danielle"

    by finky089

was reported a few weeks ago (I read it in EW) acording to Darlton (I think) that we will see Claire again in Season 6, but that she'll be a Rousseau-like version of Claire that we havent seen previously. Could just be coincidence, but it's noteworthy that at this time the actress who played 2004 Rousseau has declined to return for Season 6, citing schedule conflicts, I believe. Now, could we end up getting more young Rousseau...probably. I gotta beleive we're not done with that yet, even if the time-tripping has supposedly ceased.

    by miyamoto_musashi

Favourite or Best are both subjective terms but my feeling is that favourite doesn't need as much justification and is largely related to how you emotively connect with it.
The example I have used before is Star Wars, for me Star Wars (I treat the OT as one movie in my mind) is my favourite movie. If I was asked what is the best movie, then I would need to think about it do some comparissons, maybe Godfather Part 2, Chinatown, Taxi Driver or Casablanca.
Your favourite should come to mind without thinking about it too hard and for tv, Lost is it for me, with X-Files second.
Best TV I would look at shows such as Oz, Sopranos, The Wire, Six Feet Under, Deadwood.

    After Lost

    by miyamoto_musashi

Don't really want to think about it, but whilst there a few quality shows (Mad Men and Breaking Bad) to look forward to and a couple of fun ones (True Blood and Dexter), there is nothing that really has the mystery, the obsession, the story and mythology to come anywhere close to Lost.
Had high hopes for Fringe, and saw it may get there at the end of the first season, but its not there and now its a chance of being axed.
Had some hope for V and particularly Flash Forward but both of them are dumbed down tv.
So after Lost, will have to keep getting my dose of mystery, mythology from good old books.

    by billboefett

Its not a do-over, or a reset. Its an ALT timeline, probably parallel. Many things are happening that never happened before, like Kate blowing up the plumber in the house instead of her dad, Hurley getting nothing but GOOD luck from the Lottery and buying Mr. Clucks, and Oceanic never crashing. Kate meeting Claire at LAX never happened before, and them taking a taxi to meet Aaron's adoptive parents, never happened before. And Ethan with the last name "Goodspeed" never happened before. And Ben and Locke being substitute teachers, off the island, never happened before. And Sawyer trying to pick up Charlotte, off-island, never happened before. And Miles being a cop, never happend before.
Its not a groundhog day experience, everything is different from the start.

So I'm contemplating cutting the cable cord once Lost is over. Between DVD season sets and stations that play their shows online the next day, what do I really need to watch on tv and spend 100 bucks for? The only thing I have to worry about is that with only rabbit ears, I'll just get the three local canadian channels, which is worse than having 500 channels of crap - 3 channels of PURE crap. But I will finally get that Great Canadian Novel done - about cloned dinosaurs and a girl who falls in love with a boy vampire.

Maybe someone's already leaked something different but I picture everyone back in Oceanic 815, the plane not going off course or crashing, and everyone going on with their dull dreary lives, not knowing anything about the island - EXCEPT for our '77 trippers (Jack, Sayid, Hugo, Kate, Sawyer... possibly Rose and the hubby) who are FULLY aware of the first timeline and this new one (kind of like Dark Tower 3) and decide they liked the first timeline better and have to get everyone on the island AGAIN.

    The set endpoint...

    by darthcorleone

...was both a blessing and a curse. I love that they set a deadline and definitive endpoint - on network television, no less - so far ahead. However, I think they didn't give themselves enough time to fully explore what they had left. Season 5 seemed so rushed to me; reaching "The Incident" was the obligatory season conclusion, and as viewers it was not difficult to realize that immediately was the time-traveling occurred. Character development (and more importantly character motivations) really suffered as a result. I'm hoping whatever they have planned for season 6 will not feel unnecessarily compacted given the number of episodes remaining.

in the closing parts of act III. You're wrapping things up. Its time to move towards Mordor, or, get in your x-wing and navigate the pits of the death star

How can you wrap things up if you're starting over?

    by tall_boy66

that's what this sideways reset is kind of bugging me. How to not make the past 5 seasons meaningless.

    Billboefett...

    by darthcorleone

I see your point, but that's a bit of an oversimplification. Season five was hardly "the closing parts of Act III." If anything, it's the culmination of Act II, and Act III would be season six. On top of that, LOST is complex enough that trying to fit it into the classic three-act structure doesn't exactly work. It hinges so heavily on nested tales and supporting characters that it's more like a novel than the simple screenplay in this analogy. There were more than enough new reveals and situations in season five (the time-travel, the bomb, the Incident, Jack's reversal, Faraday's reversal, etc.) such that further explanation and character exploration were justified. Perhaps we'll have some explanatory exposition in season six, but - as you say - the end should not be too bogged down with such things.

Agree about the alt/parallel timeline; where are you getting your plot spoiler info? And what episode had the Rose/Bernard anagram? They're definitely in the running, we'll see!

    Lost - potential spoilers

    by miyamoto_musashi

I say potential, because it seems like most people on here have an idea about season 6 starting off with it looking like the Incident worked.
I am also fairly in the camp of this is a glimpse of a parallel universe and is not the Losties in the Universe we have been watching. I don't think the it will be a simple as "hey isn't fun to see what would have happend in the plane had landed in the pilot episode instead". I think there will be much more to it.
Lost has spent a lot of time looking at free will v destiny and I think it will further examine this and I have confidence that the guys will link this to the mysteries of the island. Maybe as some suggested that the island is not only outside of normal time and space but can also is the one constant between parallel universes, or a bridge.
Anyway its these kinds of thoughts and questions that really make Lost my favourite show, that make it above and beyond all others.

Re Lost v Normal 3 act story

    by miyamoto_musashi

Clearly as others have mentioned Lost is very different to most stories in following this. Using Lord of the Rings as an example in the first act we knew who the good and bad guys were, for the most part the major players, we knew what the world looked like and we had a good idea where it would go.
With Lost if anyone could guess all this from season 1 to what we have seen up to season 5 then absolutely amazing work and perhaps psychics do truly exist. If you think what has happened has flowed in an obvious way, then I think you are suffering from hindsight bias
If I look back at say season 2, and was asked how it would all end, I would say it would be about some of the Losties getting off the island, some maybe staying, some dying with them being caught in the middle of a final confrontation between Ben's team and Widmore's team for control of the island. Maybe right at the end finding out some of the mysteries of the island.

Darth, lets do some math here

    by billboefett

Divide 6 seasons into 3 acts, means: Act I = s1-2, Act II = s3-4, Act III = 5-6. We just finished off season 5, so if 5-6 were the last 45 mins of a 90 minute movie, of a trilogy, you aren't still breaking ground on the character's we've known since Act I. We know why jack does what he does, we know kate plays men and is indecisive, we know sawyer seems to be a good guy but is troubled, we know locke thinks he's a loser but wants to be a messiah, etc. So yes, me saying we're in the final stages of the third act, is true.

so half way through the 3 acts would put us

    by billboefett

Right around the beginning of season 3, where people seemed to get the most bored. (Jack, Kate, Sawyer in Hydra island as prisoners). I liked those eps, and they had to have them to setup so much, but, I digress. The place 1/2 way through a movie usually has the biggest potential for a slump. Anyways, I understand what people are saying about LOST's jumbled narrative: It took a linear story and moved some pieces around out of place, so that throws characterization off a bit. However, my point for us to remember that it was like a serial, a single novel, told from start to finish, as a singular story with many subplots. But its not like a sitcom where you can just keep inventing new situations to throw the characters into, and then the next weeks its as if there were no consequences. This will hold especially true when LOST vindicates itself in s6 showing it had all this stuff planned from the very early stages. You'll see.

We're in the 2nd half of the third act

    by billboefett

Is what I meant to say, 2 posts above. Beginning, middle, end. LOST has an end in mind, and has had it in mind since the very early stages. They were just punting wondering how long they would take to get there. 3 seasons? 7? 10? Once they knew they would have 6 seasons, during the middle of season 3, it was full-steam ahead. No more stalling.

    BTW, about the end

    by billboefett

Lindelof said it ABC cancelled the show and given it only 2 seasons, they would have completely gutted the entire Dharma story altogether, probably never had Desmond or even Ben, and just had the MIB take Locke's body.
