This story somehow got lost in the fog of Thanksgiving week, but since it's good news about three (potential) new films from two extremely funny fellas, I'ma run it.

As reported first by Variety, Judd Apatow and Universal Pictures have snatched up three (3) comedy pitches from Aziz Ansari and Jason Woliner. And if you're wondering what's so special about a hot-shit producer and a deep-pocketed studio plunking down for a trio of ideas from two up-and-coming comedic talents, well... as long as our nation is still vulnerable to cinematic dirty bombs like OLD DOGS, it is crucial that we flood the production pipelines with promising projects so that this...

... can never happen again.

In brief, here are the three premises:

1) LET'S DO THIS - "A road movie about two guys who work with a motivational speaking company."

2) UNTITLED DISGRACED COSMONAUT COMEDY - Yes, please.

3) UNTITLED RAAAAAAAANDY! MOVIE - Based on Ansari's horrifically oversexed stand-up character from Apatow's FUNNY PEOPLE.

Woliner, who directed most of the HUMAN GIANT sketches (as well as a recent PARKS AND RECREATION episode and Patton Oswalt's most recent comedy special, MY WEAKNESS IS STRONG), is attached to call the shots on all three movies. Ansari, meanwhile, is set to star in the Cosmonaut and Randy movies. I've no clue about the first film, but if I were a gambling man, I'd bet my dad's SWANK collection that Paul Scheer or Rob Huebel will occupy one of the leading roles.

I'm all for the Human Giant gang taking over Universal's production slate. Hopefully, you are, too.
