Updated! MondoTees Hits L.A. Tonight! Rare, Limited Edition GREMLINS And ALIEN Posters Could Be Yours!
Beaks here...

Update: The enthusiasm for this event is so goddamn palpable, Gallery 1988 is allowing folks to line up as early as 5 PM!
The MondoTees kids have come to Los Angeles, and my, oh, my, have they brought some goodies with them.
Tonight, from 7 - 10 PM at Gallery 1988 (7020 Melrose Ave.), a whole slew of limited edition posters, custom artwork and other cool stuff is goin' up for grabs. If you've been reading AICN for the last few years, you probably know what these guys are all about. Want a limited edition print of this bad boy (by Australian artist Rhys Cooper)?

Well, I'd advise you to get to Gallery 1988 promptly at 7 PM, 'cuz everyone else wants one, too. The 24x36 poster is printed with metallic and glow-in-the-dark ink. Switch out the lights, and the mogwai rules become visible. I know.
Are you an ALIEN fan? Would you like to have this sucker proudly displayed on your wall?

Again, get there early.

Too bad I'm nowhere near LA. Saving image for the hell of it, though.
-
FIRST!!
-
SECOND!
-
I would look down on any adult who peppered their walls with these. Posters are for college students in dorms, and for high school teachers to decorate their classrooms.
-
robocop poster with all the movie characters in it?
-
BECAUSE I'M ON THE EAST COAST!!!
-
That said, you are a fucking douche. "Look down on" Pfft, what a dick.
-
Not so. I have paintings on my walls. But I also have a nicely framed poster of the cover of the first issue of the first Wolverine limited series and a framed Night of the Living Dead poster. They look good.
Put a cool poster in a frame and now........it's art. -
I'm done here...
-
...I'm old enough for the gum-popping teen at the check-out lane to call me "Sir," and on my walls are a framed poster for Jaws, mounted posters for Reservoir Dogs, the Italian release of "Mad Max 2" and the teaser poster for Coppola's Dracula. Dorked out? For sure. But they've never kept me from getting laid... at least, I don't think so... you'd have to poll the ladies who've turned me down... and I think they're both lesbians now, so, whatever...
-
US premier of the directors cut of THIRST!!! Park in attendance!!! Chapman University in Orange CA. Open to the public!
-
Just wondering.
-
"I look down on...." whatever you asshole. The only thing you probably look down on is your boyfriend jugglin' your nuts
-
They look terrible.
-
I just spent $63 on a copy of the illustrated story, for God's sake. Only VF, too. (I know that isn't a lot for a serious collector, but it's by far the most I've ever spent on anything that even looks like a comic book). Thing is, I can hide that in my office closet...my wife would vomit if I tried to hang up that poster. The front row snapshots of Eddie Vedder are OK cause she's hot for him; Giger's space jockey, not so much.
-
Of course, they're autographed by the actors on them. But, they're still posters.
-
Fuckin' awesome! Are they going to make prints available of that great, great poster?
-
getting any of these, they'll be sold out tonight.
and no, these aren't the guys who made the Robocop poster. That was Tyler Stout. -
You all know it to be true.
-
If only I was still into posters
-
they're 'prints'. There's a difference, ladies: they are printed on thick, high quality paper and every one is numbered.
-
I would have gone. I live so close. Didn't realize it's the gallery next to Golden Apple.
-
if you gave a shit about Tom Skerritt and John Hurt in Alien
. For that matter, did anyone really know what the fuck they were looking at in the space jockey scene? That Alien poster is 1/5th memorable. -
I'd buy that for a dollar.
-
I would look down on somebody who has such a damn frail ego that they feel they are superior to another person because of the POSTER ON THE WALL.
THAT is immaturity. -
I want to be admired by someone who loves movies! Are you saying my framed movie posters are in some way impeding my quest to be admired by someone who loves movies?Christ - I think my world has been turned upside down because as we all know - everyone craves admiration from someone who loves movies.I do not look down at you - I look askance at you and then shake my head and think 'patronising cunt'.
-
I don't like these posters too much.
-
The ALIEN poster is fucking badass.
-
...DILDO!
-
Well, Manifestchaos has certainly got the attention he craves. Is the Alien poster in some way not proper art? To me it conveys a sense of wonder, tension and dread, which is pretty good going I reckon. Is the film itself not an extremely powerful work of art?

A L I E N :don't worry Parker - you'll get whatever's coming to
by scenic
Wow! Great A L I E N poster! I'd love to see a comic done from the script in this style...
-
Of course the movie is a wonderful work of art. I love it, and that's why I own it.If you have a big house that needs wall space filed, by all means buy them up. But I daresay there is a reason I have never in my life seen a family home with movie posters on the walls (outside the kids' rooms).
-
Half the responses to this article are "those look cheap", "too bad I outgrew posters", "ugly", etc. I'm not alone -- in fact, with a broader frame of reference I am certainly in the majority. As you were.
-
The Alien poster is pretty good, although probably only due to the incredible designs of the film in the first place. The actual poster looks like it could be done fairly quickly on Image Manipulation software. The Gremlins one I like quite a bit though - and I would proudly have it on a wall in my family home. My brother had that Yoda poster made up of images from the trilogy in his front room for a few years. Guys who visited loved it, some women also loved it- others not so much. But it always provoked a response.
-
I would just like to clarify that it's nothing to do with you not liking posters or not wanting posters hanging up in your houseIt's the fact that you look down on people! So, fairly warranted I feel.
-
No true movie buff is "too old" for movie posters. Especially classic, stylish posters.
-
We may disagree on all kinds of things, but we are ALL geeks in some form or another and most of us respect the need for our peers to "geek out." It's not something to be ashamed of. I wouldn't wear a storm trooper costume to a SW film, but I'd never put someone down for doing it. manifestchaos, I think your remark struck a nerve because it smacks of hypocrisy.
-
I got it. You know your jealous;) Oh and its over my pool table. God I'm fuckin awesome.
-
hhmmm it might be a forgery.
-
id love to see a new film that could complete a trilogy and maybe explore where the gremlins come from
-
how young guys will have things like movie posters on their wall we're older men will not. i think in the case of many married geeks it is a case of the wife controlling much of the home decor. in the case of older bachelors, it is the idea that women don't find posters classy or sexy. and true enough, most posters are not classy...but then neither are the generic, dime-a-dozen paintings that i see decorating most peoples homes.perhaps there's a commonality between the poster issue and why you rarely see an older person wearing a band t-shirt or using a sub-culture for a sense of identity. as one gets older, the desire to externally advertise what one is about to the world wanes. however, i see nothing wrong with a den, or study or a similar room decorated with movie posters and other memorabilia, especially posters chosen with artistic discrimination. i think everyone, men and women, should have a room that is a temple and a monument to the things that they love...a shrine of inspiration to ignite the imagination.
-
People who dress up to go to movies are fucking retards. I had to wade through Gollums on opening day of LOTR in Toronto -- absolute idiots, all of them. Maybe that will help you to see where I am coming from.
-
I concede to your point
-
You're a douche bag hater. I bet you're some long haired, chunky porn addict with severe social interaction issues and thousands of pages of archived, bile soaked forum posts. Way to hate on someone's hard work from the smug comfort of your mom's house/studio apartment/B.O. soaked dorm room. If I met you in person I would kick you in the balls and punch you in the throat as hard as I fucking could. FUCK OFF
-
Dude, why are you so mean? I don't even know you!
-
There's enough shit on this planet without you going around randomly punching people in the throat. Especially over, what, film posters?
