This will be my first AICN screening! I think I will feel at home with all the movie geeks there.

must've had something wrong with the subject line. I picked in order of first come, first serve - except the final 35

4 hours after post was too late?

    by arrien

Yeah, 3 Bag, I sent mine in 4 hours after the article was posted, which I really thought would be in time. And I copied the subject line directly from the original post and into my subject line. This isn't the first time this has happened though, my guess is the e-mail filter is being particularly wonky or something like that. It's definitely more than a bit annoying.

    by ndoty_sa

to meeting you guys. I've been a regular since Harry first posted the X-men character pics in '99. I will be the guy in the Crash Davis jacket; my buddy will be in the Secret Wars t-shirt. And I hope Nic Cage doesn't show his stuff like Harvey in the original...nd

    such a huge Herzog fan

    by ataraxia_now

in Austin, I cannot believe my email was too late to get in! I had almost resorted to begging in my submission, but thought it sounded desperate.

Any idea if this film will be playing at the drafthouse after the screening or anywhere else near ATX? I am now officially desperate.

So excited to finally see a Herzog film..

    by natrlbornthrllr

...on the big screen again. I haven't seen one in a theater since Wild Blue Yonder at the first Fantastic Fest.

    by natrlbornthrllr

On the 17th you post, about Harry: "He's an insane, out-of-control, out-of-touch, out-of-luck douchebag." The very next day, your two-faced ass is first in line to bitch about not getting into one of his free screenings. Fuck off, I'm glad to not have to share the same air as you tonight.

Just got home from watching this at the Alamo

    by xionsmith

Fantastic movie! One of Herzog's best. Best movie Cage has done in a long, long, looooong time. The theater was only half full! Shame on all of you that got on the list and didn't show.

    yeah...

    by demmer knob

    that was ...something..
as a movie, i don't know whether i'd exactly say i liked it, but the nic cage performance was mesmerizing. xzibit, fairuza balke, and brad dourif were standouts in smaller roles. ya gotta see this one.

I really wanted to. And to the people that didn't get in, I've gotten on the list to every screening I've ever tried to, although this is the first one I've had to miss. *shrug*

    Nic Cage is the man!

    by smegmasaurus_rex

He has totally redeemed himself for those National Treasure movies. I think it is the best movie I have seen him in since Leaving Las Vegas. Thanks Harry!
I would have thanked you in person if I was not in a rush to leave.

    Harry, I was there too,

    by ndoty_sa

As a ten-year visitor to AICN, and only living an hour away in San Antonio, this was my first AICN event. Harry looked cool in person, I assume that was Father Geek pushing him around in the wheelchair. Also looked like Massa was there (or some guy in a black t-shirt who looked just like his avatar. I was bummed the theatre was only half-full too. Couldn't believe how many people were waiting for Twilight. And my buddy was the one toward the back who dropped his beer glass, making an awful shatter in the theatre. Nic Cage was brilliant but I didn't love the movie either (Xionsmith). Eve Mendes looked great; Val Kilmer was a nice surprise, but looked like shit. Overall, fantastic evening; seeing Harry with his group made me feel like a nerd at the cool party (and I'm a 35 year-old professional and married family guy)...nd

Where the original shocked, this one...

    by natrlbornthrllr

...brought the laughs. Cage finally proved to me that Adaptation wasn't his final great performance. All in all, it was a fun screening that should've been packed to capacity...especially in contrast to the crowd that showed up to wait for Twilight.

Shoot him again, his soul's still dancing!

    I'd give it a B+

    by lance rocke

It's a really fun entry in the "dirty cop" genre; there were several scenes that had the audience howling with disbelief and/or laughter.
