Can't keep up with what bloody channel it's on!!!
-
which makes sense since it's their show.
-
I loved that one episode where they took something that was in the news and did a movie parody of it.
-
They usually put a clip up with at least one joke in it.
I dont think that bodes well for this episode. -
though past couple eps have been real good. I was doing an SP marthon during break and liked how Butters has almost become the 4th friend, edging out Kenny.
-
Technically shouldn't the new decade start in the "1" year not the "0" year? 2011 instead of 2010? Since there was no year 0, you count from 1 so the first decade would be 1 to 10. It's like the fact that a new century began in 2001 not 2000. Yea, I know, I'm a geek.
-
Counting numbers, not whole numbers...
-
The Coon, Pirates, Jonas Brothers and Micky Mouse, Avatar, Fox News, Wrestling, Japan's hatred for whales, ghost hunters, Michael Jackson's death, what more could you want?
-
I know you are simply being trollish, but on the off-chance you are serious, try watching the show before commenting on it in the future. I have never seen an episode where what you desceribed happens and I have seen them all.
-
Dumping on a popular show to seem hip and cool. Have you also recently asked whether SNL is on? HILARIOUS.
-
Best writing on tv at the moment. Besides the little reminder when it's on, how about some more love for that show Herc?
-
Everyone else gets to say it.
-
The 90's started in 1990, the 80's in 1980, so on. The 10's should start in 2010.
-
it's the first number that is important, 2010 is a new decade because it's no longer '09, it will be '10, the 0 is now a 1 therefore new decade, i mean you wouldn't say that the 80's were so awesome expecially in 1990, no because the 80's ended on dec 31st 1989and while there technically wasn't a year zero the fact is that time existed before the first year, essentially making it a year zero. I know alot of time and history existed before year 0001 but because humanity started a new way of counting years it's all consiterd as year zeroI'm currently working on a script about time, it's facinating
-
This is arbitrary, but there's no reason not to be correct about it. The first century was from 0-99, which is 100 years.
-
...last weeks episode was fantastic.
-
It is correct that there was no year 0 and that counting a decade from 1-10 makes sense.
However, it also makes sense to count decades using the 'tens' place, e.g. 90-99.
There is no definition by any formal body of what a decade is, exactly (that I know of- unless the SI has commented on it?).
Therefore everyone should be able to choose the definition that makes sense to them, while at the same time acknowledging there are other ways to define it that are equally valid, and QUIT ARGUING ABOUT IT. Geez. -
WTF!
-
True that the Gregorian calender started at 1, but if you use the Astronomical year numbering then 1 BC is considered to be year zero for our current system of counting years.as well, all Buddist and Hindu calendars refer to a year Zero...seriously people if you belive that the next decade doesn't start on jan 1st 2010 then your just holding society back from advancing.here's the wikipedia ariticle on it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomical_year_numbering as well as a quote from the great astronomer Jacques Cassini:
"The year 0 is that in which one supposes that Jesus Christ was born, which several chronologists mark 1 before the birth of Jesus Christ and which we marked 0, so that the sum of the years before and after Jesus Christ gives the interval which is between these years, and where numbers divisible by 4 mark the leap years as so many before or after Jesus Christ."
-
For all the math/history nerds saying that there was no year zero: you're absolutely right. But you're also under the assumption that there is a "correct" way to count decades. A decade is any random ten years. We've grown accustomed to grouping decades by the third digit in their year (i.e. the '40s were obviously 1940-1949), so let's just continuing to follow that widely-held system and say that December 31st, 2009 will mark the end of the '00s.If you want to be a little bitch and say that December 31st, 2010 will mark the end of the 201st decade of the Common Era, go right ahead, but you can't say 2010 is part of the '00s because that sounds fucking stupid.
-
Think about it:
The next decade will undoubtedly become known as 'The Teens', because the majority of the years will end in 'teen'.
But teenage years don't run from 10-20, they run from 13-20.
So even though the new decade technically starts in about 6 weeks time, for all intents and purposes it won't start socially and psychologically for another 3 years.
Search your feelings. You know it to be true. -
Me? I'm just bummed that the half-"seasons" are so short, and that they're now scheduled to preclude a Christmas episode. They've commented in the past how difficult it is to keep trying to top prior Christmas episodes, but I still miss having a new one. As for the overall quality of this half-season? Fair, at best.

whale whores is the only undisputed classic of this half-season
by mrgreentheplant
with some pretty decent episodes thrown in there along with the terrible. not bad for a show in its 13th season
-
I give my stamp of approval to the phrase "Last _______ of the Decade!!!" WAAAAAY better than 'the antepenultimate/penultimate episode of ________'
-
In the imaginationland arc (which could have easily been a movie and a movie that would have been successful) I rolled over laughing everytime they said "there's breach in sector seven!" "sector seven!?!?!" and then one of the south park kids jump-rolling through the grass, three times. This season has made me realize that one of the best ongoing jokes is the 'they took are jobs!' 'they took our jobs?' 'dtikrjbs!' 'dvirkrgbs!!!"
-
Anybody think we're bound for a spoof of one of these flicks in tonight's episode based on the description given? Haven't seen 2012, so my apologies if it's a misplaced idea lol
-
That's absolutely the best part of the imaginationland episodes. I always point that out whenever the show comes up amongst my group of friends and it seems like they barely even remember what I'm talking about. It's so perfect, especially the way they somersault dive through the glass landing flat on their backs.
-
This show is a 1-trick pony that went lame and should've been put down years ago.
-
South Park has been...alright this season, and there have been a few laughs, but this is nowhere near the same South Park that was once fresh, hip, irreverent and dangerously skirting the borders of decency. For the last few years, South Park has seemed mostly forced. The Michael Jackson's dead episode was so ridiculously unfunny and desperate to pull gags it was ridiculous and the rest of the shows (with the exception of the Fag bikers) have been similarly forced. I think it's time to put it out of its misery, personally.
-
Matt and Trey better finish the season with a decent ep. The last thing we need is another dead celebrities or wrestling snoozefest.
-
...then beats it to death through the entire episode. It's been pretty weak this half-season, IMO. Is this one about swine flu?
-
That's why they're the "00s", not the "01-10s."
-
maybe randy's funniest episode.
-
Yes, this is the last year of the decade, morons. Unless you think 1980 was the last year of the 70's or that the year 2000 was somehow part of the 1990's. Stop worrying about "year zero" and just use some common fucking sense.
This season of SP has been good. Not as good as their amazing seasons (7-10) but still a step up from where things were a couple years back.
-
1 2000-2001
2 2001-2002
3 2002-2003
4 2003-2004
5 2004-2005
6 2005-2006
7 2006-2007
8 2007-2008
9 2008-2009
10 2009-2010
that's ten years that have elapsed... or is the year 2000 the last year of the 90s? -
See here's the thing: Friday Night Lights is a truely exceptional show, fantastic casting which leads to characters with depth and arguably the best acting across the board of any show on TV.HOWEVER, I completely understand why Herc doesn't cover it--its not really in the 'aintitcool' wheelhouse in the sense that we all come here to talk about the geekier, more genre focused, shows/moviesr/comics. Friday Night LIghts just isn't really aintitcool material... this is why I and others get very frustrated about no talkbacks for supernatural and smalllville--because those are two prototypical genre shows that talkbackers love to talk about and the talkbacker losers love to hate on. Although i no longer care nearly as much as i used to because herc's ratings talkbacks serve as places we can talk about the shows on any given night...
-
Wins it for me this half-season or whatever the fuck they are called.
-
seriously, one of the best South Park songs since their movie.
-
Fantastic
-
Best Butters line ever.
-
You know this to be true
-
Fuckin hilarious.
-
Right. Hey guess what? A new decade just began! Because exactly ten years passed since the last time I randomly decided there would be a new decade. Happy new decade everybody!
-
_0-_9, and since televised retrospectives with D-list stars are so awesome, that's what I'll go by.

Damn it so that means the patriots are the team of the decade
by supercowbell5thecowbellhasspoken
Which is bullshit
-
I thought it was pretty damn funny, lol.
-
The Minorities song might be the best South Park song of all time. BTW, this "Ninja Assassin" movie really needs to fucking come out. Not because I want to see it (it looks terrible) but because I've seen about a million commercials for it over the past two months. Just release that turd already so that it can bomb and we can all get on with our lives.
-
...but when it's good, it's very, very good. The Coon and the whoring episodes this season were among the best ever episodes. And this is a show in its 13th season!
And, for god's sake, the only thing specific about a decade is that it's 10 years.
Hercules is obviously using it in the completely acceptable way to indicate the 80's, 90's etc. This is PERFECTLY valid, haters.
-
That cracked me up.
-
why cant they all be like this?
-
Probably the worst season so far. They should just stop.
-
He has very much come into his own this season. Keep your pimp hand strong, butters!
-
Way to much of him in the show.
-
I understand why. Kenny is a prop Kyle and Stan are author surrogates. That's why the fist ten years were basically about Cartman. Butters is another original character, there's no accident that the show is best when it's the Butters and Cartman show. I'm glad they're having fun with him. That pimp episode cracks me up just thinking about it.
-
seriously the show always works best when it takes a situation and exagerates it so that all of the characters treat it like it's an end of the world scenario (the internet episode is a prime example of this). This one was just funny, it took a simple thing like how everyone pees in the pool and made it into a disadter movie parady, very strong finish to a great season...now if it were only March already
