UPDATED!!! Live in Chicago? Want to be bathed in blood at an early screening of NINJA ASSASSIN? Capone has the details!!!

Published at:  Nov 18, 2009 12:37:00 PM CST

CONTEST CLOSED, everybody. We've had an overwhelming response--more than 200 entries, representing 400 seats requests for only 80 seats--even more so than I would have imagined. Winners will be notified very soon. For those who don't win, I'll have another contest up today for a separate screening of another movie the same night as NINJA ASSASSIN. Stay tuned!

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.

Late last night, someone texted me that they saw a TV spot for NINJA ASSASSIN that featured a quote from me, which I’m delighted to hear because when I saw this film at Fastastic Fest in September, it stomped and sliced my ass so hard that I still have bruises and scars to prove it. From director James McTeigue (who directed V FOR VENDETTA and did second-unit stuff galore for all three MATRIX films and SPEED RACER) comes this magnificent celebration of violence and gore. It also features a star-making turn by South Korean sensation Rain, who could absolutely be the next huge action star in this and all nations. NINJA ASSASSIN commits early to saturating the screen and your brain with blood and never lets up. You have to admire that. And thanks to the good folks at Warner Bros., I’ve got 80 seats (or 40 passes) to the Chicago premiere of NINJA ASSASSIN that I desperately want to give to the good people who live in and around Chicago.

The screening of NINJA ASSASSIN will take place Monday, November 23 at 7:00pm at a theater in downtown Chicago (only the winners will receive the location).

Here’s how to win. Send me an email at TheRealCapone@aintitcoolmail.com (please note, this is different email address than the one I’ve been using for years, which apparently has self-destructed). The subject of the email entry should read “SLICE & DICE”. In the body of the email, I need your full name and whether or not you are bringing a guest (the guest’s name is not required), as well as the answer to the following question: What was the one film that turned you on to the martial arts genre? If I get too many “ENTER THE DRAGON” response, I may start trashing those. I know that was THE ONE for a lot of people, but I’m guessing there was one before or after DRAGON that really set your world on fire. Feel free to tell me why your chosen film is your selection, but please keep all answer to less than 75 words (no matter how tempted you are to go over the limit). I’m only keeping this contest open for 24 hours from when this posts, because it’s going to fill up fast. Best answers win. Winners will receive an email from me soon and their names will be posted on the site.

Good luck, and hope to see you there! And keep an eye on AICN in the next day or so; I’ll have another screening contest up very soon.

As much as i love Bruce Lee and can watch and analyze his greatness with an adult mind, when i was a kid, that movie was the first martial arts flick witch made me actually enjoy martial arts for its artistry.
Specifically, the scene with Chuck Norris fighting the assassin on a catwalk, with neon signs in the background and his lady looking on waiting for the outcome. Except for the neon signs, the entire scene was shot in silhouette. The director obviously knew he had something, because the entire scene is shown in the beginning credits! So you get to see it twice, in the credits and when it happens in continuity.

I saw a tv spot for Ninja Assasin the other day and it threw out some one liners from reviewers in it. I believe your assessment was simply, "Awesome". That definitely garnered a little chuckle out of me!

They keep showing that fake looking blade swinging in the ads.

    by gibsonusa returns

It looks so fake they should have kept it out of the ads. Otherwise, looks nice.
