I think some of these movies need to start using different nouns to avoid confusion. How about A Serious Guy? A Single Fella. Solitary Dude.

Make it so. Is there any fanboy related news more anticipated than casting for roles and voices in The Hobbit? Nope. None.

Now I just need to see some similarly good casting for Smaug's voice, Bard, Master of Laketown and Beorn, and this shall be golden.
Thumbs up from me. Can't wait for these films.

"Dwarfs" is more standard English, but Tolkien used "dwarves" because, he said, a) it was more etymologically accurate, and b) it sounded better.

It's like he was always meant to play him. I hope this turns out to be true.
As always, great job Lat!

It's like an Aussie Red Dawn except they never describe the invader's nationality.
Nov. 13, 2009, 11:44 p.m. CST
that's like an australian film and everything... plus it has more nines than all of them.
Nov. 14, 2009, 3:19 a.m. CST
are some of the worst examples of ...film in the world. But no matter how bad they are, the Australian film industry refuses to admit that they are all absolute crap. Critics in Australia, will praise the shit, that tumbles out of the ass of an Australian made film. The bottom line is, that Aussies can never admit to being wrong.

Care to give examples?
And Lat, seeing as how you made a mistake in an column where you mentioned your own mistakes, I don't think it's nit-picking too much to let you know you wrote permeation when you meant permutation.

Other than that, Lat's usual insight and wit has all gone over my hungover head. :(
Nov. 14, 2009, 8:59 a.m. CST
Cox is good casting.
Who else? Albert Finney? Colm Meaney?
Nov. 14, 2009, 9:05 a.m. CST
I saw it november '08.
What do you want to know about it?
Nov. 14, 2009, 10:16 a.m. CST
When Lat updates AICN-DU more than Harry updates his damn DVD column? Crazy days!
Nov. 14, 2009, 12:16 p.m. CST
...and Cox would be a splendid Thorin Oakenshield. Hope he isn't allergic to the makeup. If I gain any more weight I will be a shoe-in for Bombur.
Nov. 14, 2009, 4:06 p.m. CST
He and Ian Holm for Bilbo!
Nov. 14, 2009, 4:56 p.m. CST
Red_weed: Dammit! Totally forgot about that. 'Twould have been a perfect one to mention.

Monkey Butler: Absolutely correct. I thought it looked odd when I wrote it, but didn't pick it up in the proof read. Oh well. I'll still continue to get upset at other peoples' grammatical errors whilst making numerous ones myself...
Nov. 14, 2009, 5:38 p.m. CST
Monkey Butler did exactly the same thing in 'an' column. ;)
Nov. 14, 2009, 8:01 p.m. CST
But if we can't combat poor grammar in an AICN talkback, where can we do it?!?
Nov. 15, 2009, 2:31 a.m. CST
'Cause you know it's sure not happening in schools!
Th-GET OFF MY LAWN!
