Exciting event news has come in from Giant Robot, of brilliant Asian/Asian American popular culture and art magazine/stores fame.
Jeong Ji-Hoon, better known as Rain, will be at their New York store at 437 East 9th Street Friday, November 13, 2009 8:30pm - 9:30pm to promote his upcoming film Ninja Assassin.
The entertainer played Racer Taejo Togokahn in The Wachowski film Speed Racer, and is back as the vengeful protagonist Raizo in the Wachowski produced, J. Michael Straczynski written, James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) directed Ninja Assassin, set to hit US theatres on November 25, 2009.

If you're not a regular Asian media follower, you may have previous heard of Rain in connection to his Madison Square Garden concerts or his commanding performance in Time Magazine's World's Most Influential People poll, which resulted in a joke-spat with Stephen Colbert.

Rain is a bigger star than the likes of Channing Tatum, or...

    by maxthesilent

... that pansy-ass Robert Pattinson. This picture just has to be better than BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE. And that shouldn't be too hard. That movie sucked balls.

..and his sister Sleet is a real crack up. But I think we can all agree that his cousin Precipitation is an absolute fucking tool. And Hail, well, we don't even talk about Hail... He was a bad, bad man.

As for Ninja Assassin. I am really looking forward to seeing it! The trailer got quite the bashing here when it came out. Dunno why. Looks like pretty mental fun to me.

    This Will Fail

    by crow3711

The commercials are extremely underwhelming, I guarantee people get the impression this is 1) based on a videogame, even though it isnt 2) has zero story and 3) is something akin to the Dead or Alive movie or something like that. There is no hype around this at all, and it will probably as big a bomb as Speed Racer. I will laugh when this is released.

CHANNING TATUM WAS THE WEAKEST PART OF G.I. JOE

    by bringingsexyback

Where did that guy come from? Not only can't he act, he doesn't seem to show any interest. I mean, Sienna Miller and the rest of the cast gave it 200% effort and that's what made it fun. And here I was worried about Marlon Wayans all along.

Channing should never get another gig, EVER!

    by stalkeye

Can't act for shit and GIJoe was more than enough proof not to mention stop loss and fighting..i could never get through the rest of that shit.poor terrance (howard) following the sucess of ironman, he has resorted to doing d grade flicks with lame ass actors like tatum.a brutha just can't catch a break.as for Rain the emo ninja, giant robot is almost walking distance from where i work, but i'm not going to even waste my time with this guy. NA looks promising, but then again i thought the same thing about Matrix Revolutions.

    Terrance Howard took a gamble...

    by immortal_fish

...and lost. I thought he was worth the extra money, but Marvel obviously didn't. Anyhow, there will be plenty opportunities for Howard to reboot his career. Until then, the poor (rich) guy made his bed and he can lie in it.

"waste my time with this guy?"

    by cloudrider`

guy is a huge asian star. he sings, he dances, he acts(even good enough for the director of oldboy to cast in his film). he has huge following young and old. i'm not even a fan, but seeing a clueless a-hole saying "this guy" is just a waste of his time... it just boils my blood. what an arrogant thing to say! if your time is so precious you wouldnt even be wasting it here posting junk. only an american cannot see beyond his own borders.

If so you're misquoting it. Seriously, though, I'm sure his appearance was full of annoying 12 year old Asian girls and effeminate Asian boys. Not somewhere I'd wanna be.

i hear what you're saying, however one of the best things about IronMan was the chemistry between Stark and Terrance's character; Jim Rhodes. The comedic scenes between the two added more dimension to the Movie IMO. Just when I was skeptical of Howard's casting and now after pulling it off Marvel replaces him with Chedale?!? Don's a good actor, but i would rather give the part to Micheal Jai White who actually looks more like Rhodey than both Howard and Chedale. Not to mention if white would incorporate his martial arts skills in the sequel.I'll reserve judgement until IM2 comes out next spring.

I still say this title is redundant

    by continentalop

"Ninja Assassin." It's like calling a the movie "Green Beret Special Forces" or "Gay Queens".
And even if he is an assassin of other ninjas, it would be like having a movie called "Hitman Assassin". Just redundant.
