I haven't agreed with the boys much over the past few years, but if there's one thing I've hated for years and felt I was totally alone in, it's fucking loud motorcycles. You might as well just drive around blaring an air-horn at everyone you pass, it's that goddamn obnoxious. Kudos to the show for having the balls to say so in a "West coast choppers" world.

    Olbermann & Beck

    by maxwell's hammer

Olbermann is certainly biased, but at least he's coherent. Beck can be downright labrynthine in some of the bizarre theories he brings up and conclusions he draws. I would never turn to either of these guys for news, but you'd have to be either extraordinarily gullible or just find with copious amounts of blind, ignorant rage to believe half of what Glenn Beck says.

    by v'shael

I'm just asking the question. I don't say he did rape and murder a teenage girl. But isn't it curious how he has never denied it?

    And once again...

    by bunksteve

Our bite-sized culture rears it's ugly head once again. People saying that Matt and Trey are "late" at making jokes pertaining to the moronic dribble that spews from both sides of the aisles are missing the point of what makes the show so great. Most of the time they know right away what angle they want to take on a certain topic, and we get things like the Terry Schiavo episode (Which people could say it was "late" since they didn't make the episode until late into the debacle). My point is that one of the things I like about SP versus other social commentary these days is that they are willing to take a step back and think out their response, rather than just reacting. If that means they're gonna wait until they're ready to do a show about it... I'm all for that. Besides... Glenn Beck still has a show, ergo, he's still relevant if only by the fact that he won't go away. Like a goddamn gremlin...

Really makes you think. Glen Beck is a douche, deserving to be mocked by SNL, The Daily Show, Colbert, etc. BTW, Olbermann's right leaning counterpart is someone like O'Reilly, not this clown or Rush, who both admit to being "entertainers", feeding off the hatred and ignorance of those who eat up every bit of this BS to justify the feeling they already had. Unlike liberals, who usually seem to have at least SOMETHING to back up their opinions beyond "feelings" and -ists and "God said so"s, even when they're wrong (and they are, but usually for different reasons). Plus, far lefties (of which there are way fewer than Fox would have you believe, and with much less power) usually just call you stupid and fight amongst themselves, while far righties are organized, angry, often misinformed, and call you an immoral, baby killing, traitorous terrorist lover who hates the troops and America and somehow can convince the not-so-liberal media (who are so afraid of being called the liberal media or even looking biased they often give equal time to the right, even if factually they aren't equal, all while the far right calls them far left anyway) that they are the moderates, even as every polls ever (except Rassmusen lately) says they're actually on the fringe of what most people want and believe. And don't even get me started on Coulter.

I can't believe not one of you people has pointed it out. Cartman was pretty obviously Rush Limbaugh, down to the silly poses and self-righteous faces he made on his book covers and T.V. openings. Not to mention he's a fatass with stupid hair who works on the radio, and despite acting like he could do a better job than all of the leaders put together, he backs down when someone suggests he take office.
Cartman even used several of his catchphrases, like beginning sentences with "Friends, blah blah blah"
Of course, puling to the point of tears is purely a Beck reference. Good episode.

Parodying Glenn Beck is perfectly fine, but Cartman was so ludicrous and over the top I couldn't buy into it. If Cartman were a little more subtle in trying to bring down Wendy (presumably for beating him up last year) then it might have worked. The only high spot was spinning the ending into a shot at Avatar (just an hour after I saw a clip for the first time).

Bobbofatz, let's be honest with ourselves.

    by the shyster

Beck only briefly & in a very minute, almost-hushed tone, criticizes a very scant few figures on the right. And usually, it's GWB. Kind of an easy target.

Otherwise, everyone... EVERYONE on the left, middle, or even center right, gets the hot coals. His audience, his CORE audience are the ones who eat this stuff up, and his secondary audience fills in the rest of his profit margin by being semi-curious & unsure of their own political views.

Beck is an opportunist, in entertainer host's clothing and seldom has any real facts to back up his bluster. Anyone with half a brain knows he is full of shit. I'm actually glad he has the platform he has. All he does is make people on the right look absolutely stark-raving batty. Don't bother my ass one bit. Give 'em enough rope.

As for Stewart, don't even go there. He is, and always will be, a man of comedy. It's just happenstance that everything that he & his writers skewer for our enjoyment, also happens to be tinged with a heightened sense of truth & awareness.

Olbermann at least wears his heart on his sleeve. He makes no bones about being 'centerist' or 'bi-partisan' in his own views, but he supports both of those ideals in american politics. But that's the purpose he serves. He attempts to bring an actual balance, while remaining true to what he thinks is right. Beck just panders, and hides his beliefs behind an aura of fear, hearsay & conjecture. And again, I hope Beck stays on the air a long time. Better to fade away into obscurity & irrelevance...

    by janika

What I couldn't help noticing throughout the Beck bashing via Carman-as-Beck (and I watch Beck, a lot of it was word for word right off his show) was how the 'president' kept insisting that once she got into office, she became helpless, and that once Cartman got into office, he too was impotent to do anything. Um, after ~all that~, is this a statement about the truth of office? Or was the lie that Wendy incorporated into turning it back on Cartman another truth of office? You all are missing the rest of the plot, surely that wasn't just filler...

Beck and Olbermann are not the same.

    by iamnicksaicnsn

Beck and all the Fox people pretty much make up everything they theorize. Look at Stewart calling out Hannity on the latest rally, and basically any time anyone makes fun of Beck. They aren't making fun of him because he's conservative. There are RESPECTABLE conservatives out there. I know you may cringe when I say this, but Ron Paul, he's a respectable guy. I don't necessarily agree with most of what he has to say but at least he's consistent. Even Bill O'Reilly has ok ideas sometimes. Even the ok ideas are a little out there, and he yells at his guests too much, and if you want a real bad-ass conservative: Jesse Ventura, that guy's a bad-ass... But the real thing with "conservatives" is that their platform is completely selfish. I said "thing" deliberately because you can like or dislike that. I happen to think it's morally wrong, but a technically respectable ideology. Now you may say "well how can you think it's morally wrong, and still say it's respectable." My position is that as we've evolved and continue to evolve as a society we should be moving past the point where it's all-for-one and none-for-all, to where we work together to achieve goals, etc etc, peace and love and all that crap. We're too small bits of the universe to really be that selfish... to me. On the other hand, because we're so infinitesimally small, you might take the other side, and say "hey, my time on here is short so why not make the best of what I can, since I'm not going to be able to enjoy anything when I'm gone." And I totally concede that, that's a totally legitimate belief, but you would have to concede that there may not be anything after death, and that's a hard thing for most people to come to grips with, especially conservatives with their pension for religion and all. So enough of that rant, back to Beck. Beck poisons the well with weak, unsubstantiated theories, and he's seriously ruining the country, because people actually listen to his garbage. Olbermann, save his Special Comments, is more actually reporting the news, and of course, he gets mad at what he's reporting and doesn't hide that. But really, shouldn't we all be mad and want to change the stuff that really sucks right now? I even concede that Obama's kinda sucking right now. It's not totally his fault, the Congress is retarded too. "But they're Democrats!" That's true, but they're too weak to change anything. It's really just a message war, the Republicans know how to stay on message, even if it's the wrong one (which isn't necessarily that they can't argue against something in a legitimate way, they just don't because it's easier). The Democrats have the right message, but they don't know how to express it in a coherent way that the public can get behind, and then they second guess themselves, and it all goes to hell and they concede or make sacrifices that are half-assed just to say that they got shit done. But the shit they get done is still shit! They think the voters will be happy, but the Republicans know how to spin the shit better in their favor! So basically what it comes down to, is we need a better educated populace so these people like Beck can't poison the country with their faux-populist propaganda. But we're so media-controlled, how could we ever educate anyone that didn't want to be educated! We're in a Matrix of our own making people!

Anyway, that last bit probably ruined any logical arguments I was making, so I'll stop my ranting, and if you got this far, cheers if you're the choir I'm preaching to, and if you're not part of the "liberal" choir, I hope some how my rambling at least made you think about how we're all connected and that even if you never meet a person, they may inadvertently affect your life, so let's agree to try to improve everyone's lives.
