ABC Remembers FORGOTTEN, Makes EASTWICK Disappear!!
I am – Hercules!!
ABC’s “Eastwick” will cease production after its 13th episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The network meanwhile has expanded its first-season order for “The Forgotten” by five episodes, but is apparently ditching "Forgotten" showrunner Lukas Reiter (“Close to Home,” “The Philanthropist”).
“Eastwick” was stronger in 18-49 than “The Forgotten” at the start of the season, but now “Forgotten” is the healthier of the two:
1.9 (2.0) (1.9) (2.0) (1.9) (2.0) (2.6) The Forgotten
1.5 (1.8) (1.6) (1.7) (1.8) (2.3) (3.0) Eastwick
"Forgotten" continues to define “bubble show.” The only primetime shows delivering worse ratings than "Forgotten" and "Eastwick" for ABC this season are “Hank,” “Supernanny” and “Ugly Betty.”

Is seeing Christian Slater still trying to look and act the same way he did in the early 90s. The guy needs to look more grown up.
-
I know there are a lot of shows to cover, but let off the pedal on the Dollhouse and Leno obsession for a while and showcase one of the few new awesome shows this season. I'm not going into detail, either you're watching it or not, if not, you're cheating yourself. First thing on ABC I've seen worth watching in a while.
-
Totally unrelated to this story. Any idea what the hold up is on the proposed Children Of Men tv show spinoff? I think the ideas in the film would translate to tv quite nicely. Any info would be greatly appreciated
-
but keeping The Forgotten is akin to having two insects that harm the boll of cotton plants, killing the larger one, but keeping...The 'lesser' of 2 Weevils!

I'm surprised that The Forgotten hasn't been cancelled yet...
by stegman84
It is pretty much the very definition of mediocre and strictly by-the-numbers television, and it's rating like a dog to boot. I actually enjoyed Slater's last show, My Own Worst Enemy, thought that actually had some potential, and was at least fun to watch, but The Forgotten is a real dog. So it'll probably run forever, or at least feel like it. Such is the power of Bruckheimer I guess...
-
I got five bucks says the show makes it to December 11th, but no further
-
until the affiliates start bailing, it aint going anywhere and i still dont get how eastwick ever got greenlit
-
I got a couple of good songs out of Eastwick. But okay other than that it sucked.
-
another opens.
Looking forward to seeing Leslie Ray Newman's "Tess" back on Eureka soon! -
modern family is basically straight family sitcom pablum....but with a nice twist..and al bundy rules the fuckin world
-
Guilty pleasure. Reminded me of Charmed in the early days.

ABC kept The Forgotten just to piss off columnists, who...
by juansanchez
...have have been dying to use the headline "ABC forgets The Forgotten" or "The Forgotten lives up to its name".
-
So typically it gets cancelled.
Was good to see Paul Gross on tv again, he was brilliant in due south.
-
Overhyped. Full of cliches. Held up as the 'cool', 'trendy', and fashionable show that 'everyone loves!'. Pushed by the network to no end. And it's always been crap.
-
??????
-
...has been very funny. It's shot documentary style which I was getting a little tired of (Office/P&R), but it works well, and some of the speaking to the camera bits are incredibly funny.
A nice spin on the family sitcom model, and it even gets a touch dark on occasion (the duel with the orphan surprised me, they didn't back off "Can she go with us to get ice cream?", "She's diabetic", "Of course she is...".
Ed O'Neil is really terrific, and the whole cast is pretty solid (Ty Burrel from the Dawn/Dead remake and Back to You is outstanding, perfect casting). -
I have watched the past few weeks due to recomendation here. Sheldon is beyond reality. The Jew is "costumed up" beyond belief, and RosanneKid's head looks like a shaking penis after a pee anytime he wants to say samething like his words are trying to squeeze out any last drops before being put back away to his anti-social shell. It does not help that he is always slumping his head down into his shoulders like a turtle retracting into a shell either.
-
You cast her in anything, it's like setting it up for death row. Hot as she is, I hate to even say that.
-
Modern Family is easily the funniest show on network television. Hell, it's even better than this season of It's Always Sunny. Start a talkback!!! Again, the Prophet is right. I haven't watched a comedy on ABC since Family Matters when I was ten.
-
but that included demons and hexes and Buffy-like material. How long could Eastwick actually last? How long could that concept be stretched?
-
Maybe not all, but forcing four seasons from something that should be wrapped up in seven hours is dumb.
-
And if that "hank" show dies, too, the daughter can be back on Eureka.EUREKA!
-
Hey, quit talkin' smack about my "Ugly Betty". Don't beat her when she's down. I still think the show is fun and light and very, very witty (its the only show on EW.com that gets a "best quips" blog). Its also very, very gay which is a wonderful thing.
-
...failed with both. The Forgotten takes the already stale concept of precedurals all the way to fossilization while Eastwick was just embarassing. It made me feel sorry for the people in the cast.
-
...but yeah, Modern Family is quite the little show. Wouldn't have watched it save for Hulu, but it certainly won its way into my rotation.
-
Isn't even apples and oranges, more like a glass of Sangria versus a big 'ol mug of Bud. I've said before that O'Neil and Burrell are brilliant, in fact Burrell's character is the rightest wrong character since Peggy Hill. But, the beauty of Sunny is that the cast and creators have known each other for years and that chemistry and natural timing makes the show.
-
...kind of show that could have been a network mainstay for years but it is just so poorly written and took off on tangents that had nothing to do with the original premise. Mostly, it was just talking and talking and talking and nothing going on.

Brody77, if you like Gross, you should love "Slings & Arrows"
by big jim
(available on DVD)The Forgotten isn't on this week; I thought it might have been cancelled. I like the show but won't despair if it gets cancelled. My biggest problem with it is how it generally fails to stick to its premise. The very first episode they say "it's about who it is, not who done it", yet in every episode the team goes beyond "who it is" until they discover "who done it".
-
It was Chyler Leigh, but it looks like "Grey's Anatomy" has cured her of that curse (something about two wrongs making a right, I guess).
-
especially with more Cybill Shephard. Made me realize how much I miss Moonlighting. And the scene where Roxy finally cleans out her dead husband's drawer was actually emotional for me. But yeah, guilty pleasure. I was looking forward to how they were going to play out the Darryl Van Horne thing. The relationship between him and the women was interesting - he never quite controlled them as Jack did in the movie. Their responses and rebellions against him actually had some amount of nuance. Not a brilliant show, but I'm disappointed it won't continue.

Last Time We Asked for a TB talkback... we got banned...
by darfurontherocks2
So careful..... about asking for a Modern Family TB. Remember.... the shitty AICN Zone is all you deserve and you should be grateful for that.....
-
I actually liked Ugly Betty until they moved back to New York. And then they really lost their way. Although I think this sadly never-seen-by-anyone fourth season is somewhat of a return to form. Which is ashame. Too little, too late...
-
I don't know how many bad sci fi jokes they can put in a half hour.
-
wanting a talkback?
-
Looks like I've started a bandwagon for MF. I wouldn't compare it to Sunny, simply because they are far far too different, same with the comparisons to Arrested Developement, I think that the defining split between those shows is that in MF, you do get a real sense the family actually acres, as opposed to blatant disdain in Sunny and AD (although AD had it's sweet spots, and George Michael) But yes I also have to say thanks HULU, otherwise this one would have slipped right past me. It is definitely the best new show on TV, but Herc only seems to want to ahve TBs for failing shows. Herc, if the show is failing, it's because we don't care. Report on something actually drawing the 18-49 and not pushing them away.
-
I could've warned you all about this turkey back in July when I saw the pilot screener. Wants so badly to be charmed meets Desperate Housewives but fails at every turn. Rebecca Romijn is awful and the guy who plays the devil is the opposite of sexy.
-
Kristen is saying Ugly Betty will now be saved by moving it to Wednesdays to pair it with Modern Family and Cougar Town.
-
Rena Sofer, that chick has killed multiple shows already, and is set to join NCIS, after she arrives, that show will not longer be #1.

Well I think Lindsay Price is a showkiller as well.
by hollywoodhellraiser
When I heard she was part of the cast, I knew the show was good as cancelled! They should have cast Eric Balfour and damned the show to hell!

It's done man, you can put down the torch. Fox won't renew it, it's dead. And it's not like we're talking about Firefly here either. Dollhouse was inherentely flawed from the beginning, drastically moreso than any early Buffy or Angel. Joss was too nice or to deny Dushku a starring role, or he was too naiive to realize she couldn't. She is unintriguing because she tries WAAAY to hard. Joss also didn't realize that the whole 1 episode storyline thing is dead and burioed thanks to the wave of shows that followed Lost, and by the time he tried to remedy the formula, noone cared. I mean be fair, Joss Whedon fan or not, Dollhouse's best episodes are only average when compared to ANgel or Buffy, and staggeringly inferior compared to Firefly. Just because it's a Joss Whedon show doesn't mean we fans have to salivate for it week after week, a below average show is simply a below average show, not matter who's running it. Considering his status, why is Joss not focusing more on film than TV? Serenity proved he has the eye for it, but I haven't heard dick about Cabin in the Woods. Joss dug his own grave accepting another deal with FOX, perhaps because every other Network turned him down. That should have been a sign. Never create a show that stems from Eliza Dushku begging you for work, what did he think was going to happen? Get on with Ripper, that's what people actually want to see.
-
And yet they're still not as shitty as NBC.
-
about the alien that looks like Bruce Wayne's dad abducting kids and making their parents forget they had children?
-
Though I like Ed O'Neil, this show is not in the least bit amusing.
-
"V" looks to be one of the few genre shows that I watch, where Herc isn't going to be giving a talkback for. I know he was disappointed in the pilot, but I didn't think he disliked it to the point where he wasn't going to give it a chance. Oh well, his column, his choice. Pisses me off a bit though!!
-
Working this site? HE does the job but wouldn't we get more variety in broadcast coverage with multiple contributors?
-
for "asking" for a talkback. 'fess up, Dafur2.

Granted Buffy, I agree that some went waaaaaay overboard jacking the Dollhouse TB.... But I can attest the ban hammer was too severe considering hate talk goes unpunished.... Anyways..... :)
-
I thought it was pretty interesting and actually held my interest each week. Hopefully they've been given enough notice to try and wrap the story up in some way before they're shut down.
-
Same fucking episode every episode, but I dunno...maybe I'm just enraptured by Christian Slater's charisma or something....
