TWILIGHT Actress To Go From Broody Vamps To An APPARITION??
Hello. Elston Gunn here.
Variety is reporting that Ashley Greene (TWILIGHT) is in talks to star in APPARITION for Joel Silver's Dark Castle shingle and Warner Bros., who is releasing the pic (Dark Castle has NINJA ASSASSIN out soon and released ORPHAN earlier this year). Inspired by true events, it's about a young couple haunted by an apparition unleashed during a college experiment.
Silver is producing with Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman. Steve Richards, Sue Baden Powell and Daniel Alter (who's producing JONNY QUEST also at Warners) are exec producing. Todd Lincoln is writing and directing. Lincoln was previously attached to remakes of THE FLY at Fox and the HACK/SLASH comic adaptation.
Dark Castle has been down the apparition road before: first with HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, then 13 GHOSTS and GHOST SHIP, (They also have THE LOSERS currently in post-production.) I imagine with the recent success of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY we're going to get all kinds of paranormal films coming around the bend again -- not that they've really gone anywhere to begin with -- veering a bit from vamps, slashers and zombies back to g-g-g-ghosts.

"House on Haunted Hill" is a fave. Any movie with roller coasters and gore and Famke Jansen (sp?) is an automatic win. BTW, saw another commersh for Ninja Assassin... might just make me forget Speed Racer.

the experiment may have been an actual event, the wacky shit that happened afterwards might have been true, but to claim it was a true haunting by real apparition is bunk, and using snake oil to sell a movie concept. where is the scientific proof that it was a ghost? I love my fantasy fun, but in the real world, science rules.

I was texting while watching, I don't get it so was Gabriel 1) the trickster all along ever since he first appeared and had that jock slowdancing with an alien to "lady in red" or 2) did Gabriel just copy his image or 3)Gabriel killed the trickster and took his place? ...I sort of enjoyed House on Haunted Hill. It was two thirds of a reasonably good little horror movie, and though it went to pieces at the end the first two acts and the very likable cast (Rush, Janssen, Diggs, Larter and especially Combs as the evil doctor) made it enjoyable crap. But every other movie this company has produced has been dreadful with a capital dreadful. House of Wax? Ghost Ship? (and don't go on about the opening scene; an entire craptastical eighty minutes followed). Ashley Greene may be cute, but she ain't cute enough to make any difference at all.

Ultimately (although perhaps not intentionally), those nude pics serve a purpose. For as long as she has a career as an actress, if she ever gets bugged by a director to do a nude scene, she can just tell him "Not necessary, hoss... been there, done that. Here's the link". As far as nude pics go, those were fairly subtle. No condiments or double duty or farm animals involved.Many thanks to Mullah Omar, btw (may your camels spit nothing but dates). I'd heard about those pics but never actually seen them.
