Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. A new project from Alexander Payne is always worth getting excited about especially when George Clooney is rumored to be circling the lead.

There's something about Payne's dry comedy that really gets me and thinking of what Clooney's amiable laid back style humor could look like in one of Payne's flicks makes THE DESCENDANTS all the more appealing to me.

The flick centers on a man who takes his two daughters on a search to find his wife's lover in a bid to save his family unit. Of course no one-line description could sum up a Payne movie... man and his buddy find love while wine-tasting, old dude loses his wife and has to find his own meaning in life, evil high school girl fucks teacher and makes his life a living hell... well, maybe that one is pretty good, but you know what I mean.

THE DESCENDANTS is at Fox Searchlight one of the last and best indie-studios out there... and I know the concept of an indie-studio is an oxymoron, but when you compare their output to, say. 20th Century Fox's usual output you'll understand what I mean. The whole story is at Variety!
