Learn What’s Ahead For NBC’s THE OFFICE!! Plus A Plug For Tonight’s Dark Knight-Infused Halloween COMMUNITY!!

Published at:  Oct 29, 2009 3:43:42 PM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

Tonight:
“Koi Pond.”
It’s Halloween and the office plans a “Haunted House” for the children in the community. And at an important business meeting, Michael falls into a koi pond. Meanwhile, Pam and Andy go cold calling to drum up more sales.

Next Week:
“Double Date.”
Jim and Pam are out of excuses so they have no choice but to go out with Michael and Helene (guest star Linda Purl). Meanwhile, Dwight is strangely doing nice things for everyone in the office.

Nov. 12:
“Murder.”
Michael’s world is rocked by troubling rumors about Dunder Mifflin. He forces the office into a day of strange diversions, upsetting Jim and leading others to wonder if Michael has gone insane. Meanwhile, Andy finds that his chief obstacle in courting Erin (Ellie Kemper) is his own awkwardness.

Deleted scenes from last week’s “The Lover”:

And look! A whole subplot deleted from the post-wedding “Mafia”:

Still hungry? The new Web series:

In non-“Office” news, Abed’s Christian Bale voice is the reason to check out tonight’s Halloween episode of “Community,” if you’ve been looking for an excuse to do so. There’s also some forward motion on the Jeff-Britta front, I believe, as Jeff takes an interest in his hot statistics teacher and her tight Robin Hood outfit, and I give the episode extra points for utilizing Danny Elfman’s “Charge of the Batmobile.”

Oh, and don't forget tonight's "Parks and Recreation," which centers on the new crime-fighting team of Louis CK and Chris Pratt -- both money in the bank as they work to catch a notorious tagger who keeps targeting a hero statue that looks suspiciously like Ron Johnson.

“Community”: 8 p.m. Thursday. NBC.
“Parks and Recreation”: 8:30 p.m. Thursday. NBC.
“The Office”: 9 p.m. Thursday. NBC.
“30 Rock”: 9:30 p.m. Thursday. NBC.

Only because of the commercials I have seen this week with the whole batman thing..um this is the show Chevy Chase is going to be on too right? You know what I have never seen any of these NBC shows might DVR them all. The commercials for Parks and Recreation show a couple of comedic actors that I liked in a couple recent movies.

Best wacky character put on tv since Kenneth the Page. Last week was a huge disappointment because he, in his words, "took a backseat this episode" which sucked. because of the annoying NBC over-hype, Chevy Chase, Talk Soup guy, etc. but it has turned out to be my favorite new show. The Office is on the decline, but still a solidly funny show. Parks and Rec has been hit or miss from week to week--works best when Amy's character is played as more naive and less an idiot.

Season 3 of The Office was when the show finally began coming into its own. It is great! My wife and I just recently started watching the show (on TBS, no less). This has got to be one of the best shows...ever! The only episode (besides Season 1) that we didn't like was last Thursday's episode. The actress that plays Pam just...overacted...throughout the entire episode. I would definitely give Season 3 a whirl in the old DVD player.

costume on some sort of drugs..reason enough to tune in. Since Herc is ignoring The League, let me do the old cut and paste thing he is so good at doing...Entertainment Weekly:"The League, A- :
You know men who devote an absurd amount of time to mocking one another? I do, and I call them ''me and my friends.'' Maybe that's why I so enjoyed this sitcom about a group of thirtysomething pals and their fantasy football league, co-created by Seinfeld exec producer Jeff Schaffer. Or maybe it's just darn funny. The engaging cast includes Humpday star Mark Duplass, comedian Paul Scheer, and obscenity-loving singer-songwriter-actor Jon Lajoie, who tonight performs a song at a little girl's birthday party in which he graphically and biologically describes how she came into existence."The New York Times: "The Schaffers, who are married, have injected rather a lot of sex and vulgarity into “The League,” so much so that by Episode 2 it pretty much takes over the show and fantasy football becomes a secondary plotline. That turns out to work pretty well: in its astonishingly raunchy way, “The League” is pretty funny whether or not you’re a fantasy geek, assuming you’re a TV-MA kind of person."LA Times : "There's nothing wrong with a show about lovable losers, but they have to be, you know, lovable. Here, the men seem to be products of their writers' contempt; they're such babies that even their profanity doesn't rise from the potty. Yes, their wives are awful, their lives are empty and the only thing that connects them is fantasy, but they don't seem to have an original thought among them and for that they've got no one to blame but themselves."

    by spice-orange

it knows its cool, so it sorta wears on me a bit, i havent watched it very much, but it feels like a traditional hit sitcom once they get big time. they sorta stop trying and know they're the big kid on campus.

Community on the other hand, his so lightning fast and quick witted you have to watch it twice to get all the jokes and dialogue. Better yet, ALL the characters hold their own in the group. Even up against the "stars" like McHale and Chase. Tina and Alec are the main characters and everyone else just follows along...

community is FANTASTIC. After one episode, it immediately became a show i look foward to, as opposed to just liking it as a good show. The characters are very original and unique in their own right, and the premise of the show is executed as well as they as it could be. To be honest, it has been funnier than 30 rock has been *THIS SEASON* (The best community episodes so far aren't on the level of the best 30 rocks the last few years, but who knows, i can't say i'd be suprised if it does pass up the best 30 rocks down the road). 30 Rock did have my favorite moment in a comedy this season--when Tracy Morgan was trying to identify with the common man and griz and dotcom come into Tracy's with this normal guy and when Tracy sees him he lats out a quick girly scream. I rewound and watched that moment several times because it was so out of left field.I have learned a lesson this season--it is NOT POSSIBLE to watch an episode of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia and directly follow it with ANY other comedy... The fact of the matter is that Sunny is a comedy that is just flat out superior than any comedy on right now by miles and miles and miles.

Stone Mountain is actually only about 10 minutes away from Atlanta. It's overpopulated, filled with northern transplants, and is only about a quarter white. It literally could not have been anything less like it was portrayed on 30 Rock. I realize that's not important because it just needed to be a Southern town, but I guess my point is why even bother using the name? There are so much worse sounding towns down here. The next town over is called Snellville, for fuck's sake.

Funniest cast on television right now with parks and the office both close behind. 30 Rock makes me chuckle a couple times an episode but really in terms of laugh out loud moments lags behind NBC's other three comedies in its thursday block.

The Bale Batman voice was incredible as well as the final "action sequence" with Ahmed pulling Chevy and Joel out of the collapsing mountain of chairs. The look on Joel McHale's face as he was getting pulled out of there was priceless.

    by whedon

surpringly raunchy with Ryan grabbing his junk like that. Regardless, anything with Erin, Kelly, Andy, and Ryan in a stupid hat is an opportunity for great comedy.

    Community Was Hysterical

    by crow3711

By far the best episode of the season, and the best episode of the four NBC comedies. Wow. Abed was just...too funny. I coulnd't contain myself. The Office was another letdown for me..maybe a little better than the last few weeks, but still...weak. 30 Rock was funny, but Community was still way better. I hope they can keep that up. Abed...my goodness. Your Batman rocked my world.

    So disappointing

    by westies14

Neither Elfman nor Charge of the Batmobile were anywhere near the Community that aired! Just some knockoff of the Dark Knight score. Did they actually use Elfman in the screener copy?

    Another Erin ovservation

After watching the music video on nbc.com, it has become apparent to me that she is sporting one hell of a hide-a-rack. Nice !

    I don't have a lot of time...

    by just_some_guy

...to watch TV, so I don't watch as much as Hercules or others here. I would like to watch a little, like an hour, every night to unwind. The Office is still my favorite show, and I catch the MLB post-season, but not much else. I watched 30 Rock once, hated it, and never again. Even though the Office is just mediocre right now, I gotta stay with what I know.

BTW: Erin is a cutie! Did you all see the panty shot when she danced down the aisle in the wedding episode? Pink!

    Best Line of the Night...

    by general_soreness

went to The Office...when Michael referred to Darryl as a "Gangster Pumpkin" just because he's a black guy in a pumpkin costume...awesome.

Also, a little disappointed that they didn't go further with the Beastmaster joke. That was my favorite movie as a kid and I was looking forward to it all day. Made sense in the context of the story though since Chevy's character hadn't even seen the movie. He just wanted to be cool (which is funny on it's own).

    Community rules...

    by annoyyou

...if only to remind me what a great physical comedian Chevy Chase is AND to point out that if it weren't for ironic, out-to-lunch weisenheimer white guys such as Chase and Bill Murray, Joel McHale wouldn't have the lead in this series. He's their natural heir. Oh and I loved this episode. "Look at me - I have the body of a fifth grader." Bwah.

Abed as Batman in COMMUNITY was hysterical

That end monologue was just perfect. The Office was okay. Wish they put more Erin in and stop cutting her scenes.

    Speaking of Cutting Erin's Scenes...

    by general_soreness

I noticed it said "orphan" under her name when they were making the list of things no one can make fun of anymore but they never showed anything about it in the actual scene. I think that's the first reference to her being an orphan, which could make for a pretty funny reoccuring joke.

Every Halloween Jim Halpert is kind of a dick

    by drewlicious

Seriously, even Stanley dresses up for Halloween but every year Jim just has some smug joke for a costume. Loved Kelly's LeeLoo costume, only 1 out of ever 7 people would get that reference.

    by serene32

I think that The Office has been consistently funny every year. It's best season was season 3, but it is still one of the funniest televisions shows on TV and continues to be great in it's 6th year. I think this season has been funnier than 5 actually.

    Communities (Talkback and otherwise)...

    by bunksteve

I have to agree that Community is one of the best new shows on television. The first episode was good, but not great. But since then, the show has just clicked into this great rhythm. The writing is consistently up to task, all of the actors are amazing... too good. Although I will have to take the people who say The Office to task. Not necessarily that they shouldn't dislike it. They're more than welcome to their opinions. But at the same time, the mentality is one that we see more and more these days. "I hate this show, and rather than turn it off, I demand it be canceled!" Seriously? Wow.

    Agree with RyanBraun14...It's Always Sunny

    by cavaliergirl

is superior to all other comedies. I don't get F/X, so on Thursday nights I go to my brother's house to watch it and after every episode, the only thing we want to watch is another episode of It's Always Sunny. Last night we re-watched The Nightman Cometh, instead of any of the NBC lineup. It's just a great show.

That said, I do still love NBC's comedy lineup. The Office isn't what it once was, and even 30 Rock is slipping, but Parks and Recreation and Community are really strong shows.

So now we know why Creed stole that bag of blood

    by big jim

from the Blood Drive Wagon last season. Although I would figure Creed would be the kind of middle-aged guy to dress as a Robert Patison type vampire - it's the sort of creepy thing I've come to expect from him.

Did nobody on the episode address Michael's

    by hst666

Dick in a box costume. Is that in a deleted scene. Seemed inappropriate.
Also, the fake hanging would have been the only cool thing in that haunted house. Too bad Michael's PSA moment had to ruin it.

I like how AICN stacks up the NBC clips on the page

That way I can hit play on all of them successively, let the audio from the commercials roll over each other, and pause the ones I haven't watched yet.

    Modern famlily

    by david cloverfield

Cracks me up like no other show. Maybe Always sunny. But while sunny is so outragous and unrealistic, modern family feels absoutely believable. And yeah, it has a warm and fuzzy tone, but it's a traditional family comedy with gay couples and lovable gold diggers. Favorie new show.
