ABC Relaunching SCRUBS Dec. 1!! BETTER OFF TED Dec. 8!!

Published at:  Oct 29, 2009 5:00:22 AM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

Those madcap zanies of “Scrubs” begin a whole new season of hugging and learning on Dec. 1, ABC announced Wednesday. (Recall that the most of the old cast are returning only on a part-time basis, with a whole new flock of med students taking center stage.)

The network also announced “Better Off Ted,” with all of its original regulars intact, returns Dec. 8.

    Never really watched the show.

I mean, I've seen it. But I never cared enough. I even have good memories of the one guy from Clueless. Still couldn't get me to commit to the show.

    Laughter Track

    by drsambeckett1984

Didnt i hear this new season was going to have a laughter track, and wasnt going to be entirely set in Sacred Heart?

If Dr Cox is still in every episode i will watch it, the last season was wonderful and had a natural closure point, so why not just leave it there.

Dr Cox and Turk are the only

    by slimballs

Original characters staying on as main characters. They will be teaching at a medical school with regular visits to Sacred Heart.

It's pretty much a spin-off without the name change. I'll give it a chance, still find this show funnier than most shows on T.V.

    Scrubs will finish this year

    by v'shael

ABC will cancel it because it won't be a ratings smash. And because they like cancelling shows.

Scheduling breaks will royally fuck this up

    by gruntybear

C'mon you know this "relaunch" will be subject to endless preemptions and hiatuses. It will NEVER stand a chance by ABC. The only way to actually catch the full season will be to netflix the eventual DVD release. The network will treat this as the experiment that it is: i.e. Like the obvious filler programming that it is

A very funny and witty show. I was worried it might be cancelled because ABC sucks. Besides, where else can I get my fix of fire-quirrels, octo-chickens, and Jabberwocky. This show is easily the funniest show on TV right now.

...can this show survive without J.D.? I dunno...He brought a lot to the table...this will be interesting.
Only caught part of one episode of Ted last year, but was intrigued. Will definitely 'vo this when it cranks back up.

    I'm a Scrubs fan

    by bizarrojerry

But I admit that even the last year on NBC was one season too many. Last year was hit or miss, and I really can't understand why they would even attempt this "relaunch" idea! I mean, I didn't even think the ratings were very good before. And does that news story say it will show less of the hospital?? That reminded me of the Seinfeld when George ran into George Wendt from Cheers and suggested they should move to a new place. "Enough with the bar already!" Idiots.

    by skimn

and Modern Family is Arrested Development good (not as bizarre and deep as that show, but great writing and acting), and with Better Off Ted coming back ABC is getting their comedy touch back (Notes From Underbelly, Cavemen, Carpoolers, etc.etc.etc.)

    J.D.

    by mr.ftw

Even if all the characters have grown over the years Scrubs was about J.D. and his out look on life. How can this show go on if he isn't the central character? All the "zany, wacky" stuff comes from J.D.'s imagination and I don't think audiences can buy that all of a sudden coming from somewhere else.

and last season's finale totally worked as a series finale, they should just go ahead and make a pretty snazzy box set for Scrubs The Complete series and rename or least subtitle this new version.

    by lockesbrokenleg

Last seasons Scrub's was the best since the first one!

    by prestigeworldwide

Seriously. The last three seasons when it was on NBC got progressively worse, with the show falling into the deadly situation of having their characters become parodies of themselves. The show became stagnant, and the reactions and outcomes predictable. I was all set to give up on it, since the only show I think I've ever followed to another network was Buffy, but that was a special case where the new network actually wanted the long running show and outbid for the broadcast rights. Anyway, thanks to a sense of finality to the ABC experiment from both the viewers and the show-runners, the last season was able to move these characters forward in a realistic but hilarious way, and the final episode was probably one of the greatest send-offs of any show ever.

The main reason I want to watch the new season is because the two funniest actors and charters (Turk and Cox) on the show will be the main focus, especially Donald Faison, who did most of the heavy lifting over the last few seasons.

...Will another character take over narration duties? Or will they dispose of the concept?? Don't know why they are doing this the stor has been told, Interns learning to become doctors and surgeons, this will be retreading the same old ground.
