No matter how many movies Joe Dante makes...

    by boingo2000

I will always be sad that there are not more Joe Dante movies in the world.

    I love Joe Dante

    by Alfeetoe

But this looks like butt, shoestring budget or not.

  • Oct. 28, 2009, 12:52 p.m. CST

    Wait... what is this?

    by Chewtoy

Is it a miniseries, a TV series, a movie...? If it's more than just a single film, is it an anthology or what?

  • Oct. 28, 2009, 12:52 p.m. CST

    Well, that sucked.

    by hallowhitch31

That's the fat cop from Arachnophobia. I love Dante more than oxygen, and I get that this is an internet-based, low-budget affair... but I need to see more to pass judgement.

    by SoylentMean

Why was Tony Todd in this? Why does this exist? Fuck you for putting this on here...

Joe Dante Needs to Shoot on Film, Not Video

    by WriteFromLeft

He directs with more energy than anyone working today. Even Looney Toons: Back in Action, which was a dud, has enormous directorial spunk. But please, Joe, shoot on film. If the budget is too low, pass. I'd hire you in a second if I could. But your stuff just doesn't cut it on video.

  • Oct. 28, 2009, 1:14 p.m. CST

I'll take anything from either Dante or Corman... but

    by HarryCalder

in this post-Scanners world, you GOTTA do the ol' spewing eyeballs, 'sploding head thing better than that. (Where is the Dante that gave us "Matinee?" I want that Dante to produce some more work...)

Its the video look that kills it...

    by HermesTrismestigus

Its like when I went to Fry's and they were playing transformers 1 on their hi def tv in bluray with that stupid go motion or whatever the fuck its called refresh rate that makes the movie look like its shot on video...and mad Transformers which looks like a 100 million plus movie on film look like a 1980's doctor who episode.

  • Oct. 28, 2009, 1:47 p.m. CST

if its cheap at least Feldman will feel at home

    by NomoredirtyjokespleaseweareYanks

    Jesus I expected more..

  • Oct. 28, 2009, 1:53 p.m. CST

    That is bad

    by Cinemanimetal

I mean I clicked on it not even thinking for a second will this be good or not. For some reason I just assumed it would be good. Then those awful electricity effects came on and just ouch... I love Joe Dante for Gremlins and other such goodness, but this is just some low budget waste of time judging from this clip. Tony Todd deserves better than this.

  • Oct. 28, 2009, 1:56 p.m. CST

Now that I look at the website...

    by Cinemanimetal

I can see that this is more along the lines of one of those youtube choose your own adventure videos. I suppose the quality is execusable somewhat in this case, but still "a gruesome death?" Hardly.

  • Oct. 28, 2009, 1:58 p.m. CST

    by MJohnson

Can I say it again? Weak.

  • Oct. 28, 2009, 2:05 p.m. CST

    Pretty cheap all right

    by AlienFanatic

Sadly, it's wearing its low-budget toupee all too obviously. The awful lightning, the frame-dropping to speed up the moment when Tony Todd was thrown backward, and the close-up to conceal the low-quality F/X head all scream, "Corman" but not quality. Bummer.
