Attention LA Night of the Creeps fans! Fred Dekker signing NotC DVDs and Blu-Rays this week!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I may not be cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, but I am fuckin' nuts for Fred Dekker's 1980s one-two punch of NIGHT OF THE CREEPS and MONSTER SQUAD and am one happy camper that they're both getting the DVD treatment after decades of obscurity. Night of the Creeps hits DVD and Blu-Ray this coming Tuesday and I heard of some signings going down in LA that I wanted to make fellow Creeps aware of. On Tuesday, release day, Dekker will be signing DVDs and Blu-Rays at Laser Blazer from 7pm-9pm and on Wednesday Dekker will be doing a signing of the soundtrack with composer Barry DeVorzon at Dark Delicacies from 7pm-9pm. I also see on the Dark Delicacies website that the great Charlie Huston is signing copies of his new book MY DEAD BODY on October 30th! Lucky LAers! So, there you have it. We can all scream for joy (rike banshees) that this '80s gem is finally seeing release this week and some lucky LAers will get to rub elbows with the man himself. I found a copy at Best Buy a few months ago, and I had fonder memories of it than the slightly pale Goonies wannabe it turned out to be, wolfie's nards or not.

I was going to write this up yesterday myself but Quint beat me to it. I just want to add that in addition to the NIGHT OF THE CREEPS soundtrack, La-La Land Records has also released the complete score for CHILD'S PLAY. The director, Tom Holland, will be at the Dark Delicacies event signing copies of the CD which will be pre-signed by composer Joe Renzetti (who is based on the east coast). I drove all the way there to get a copy of the the Blu-ray signed. I got there at 8:20 and those fuckers were already closed!! you can't advertise a signing from 7-9pm and then close at 8pm. Bullshit!

Yeah, I was lucky that I called beforehand and got there just before eight. Apparently there were a lot of people early on and it petered out. Fred had something going on, too, I guess. Super8rocks, I'd call first thing tomorrow and see if they have any pre-signed copies in stock-- I think he signed some extras. Also, Fred said that the forthcoming BR of THE MONSTER SQUAD has an amazing transfer that's better than the original prints. Super nice guy.

Yeah, they told me what happened and said they had extra signed copies. I really wanted to meet him and get it signed while I was there though. I'm not wanting to bother driving back for a presigned copy. I would have called if I knew that would happen. I left really early but due to construction and traffic it took me nearly an hour to get there. Oh well, you win some and I lose them all.
