Published at:  Oct 23, 2009 10:42:29 AM CDT

Greetings! ScoreKeeper here with a little nugget for film and television music fans in the Los Angeles area looking for something to do this weekend. You might be sitting around thinking, "Man, I've got to get my Stu Phillips fix." Well, Dr. ScoreKeeper has just the prescription for your ailment.

On Saturday at 8PM, on October 24, 2009, in celebration of his 80th birthday, Stu Phillips will be conducting a rare concert performance of his music from his scores for BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (1978-1979), BUCK ROGERS (1979-1981), and KNIGHT RIDER (1982-1986). Mr. Phillips will be conducting the Golden State Pops Orchestra at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, California.

As an added bonus, Bear McCreary, composer of the most recent incarnation of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA will make a guest appearance conducting his own arrangement of Stu's theme to the classic original series.

Several more sci-fi scoring staples will round out the program including music from STAR TREK and THE X-FILES as well as the world premiere of a suite from a movie opening this weekend.

The best news is that the highest ticket prices are going for $35 and start at $15. As of this writing seats are still available. Click here to purchase tickets.

For more information including a cool interview with Stu Phillips, check out Bear McCreary's blog or visit Darth Mojo for additional information and photographs.

    Buck Rogers MOVIE!

    by entrainer

That'd be awesome. I loved Buck Rogers as a kid. Way more than A-Team, Knight Rider, or any other 80s TV adapted for TV.

    Will This Be Canceled Too?

    by crow3711

If Morricone can't drum up enough interest, I doubt the Knight Rider score is going to be filling in the seats. This sounds lame.

That's cool and all, but the Classic BSG theme is so much better than the new one.

I'd rather compete on the Price is Right to get my KITT fix. They have a navigation system there with William Daniels as KITT, honestly.

    Morricone..

    by mel garga

Did that really get canceled because of lack of interest? I find that hard to believe. Bring that shit east coast, we'll sell some tickets. By the way, where's the review of the Star Wars concert that's touring right now?
