* Cable’s “Sons of Anarchy” beat “The Jay Leno Show” for the first time in 18-49, pushing NBC’s 10 p.m. hour into fifth place behind Fox’s playoffs, “The Good Wife,” the FX biker drama and ABC’s aptly-titled “Forgotten.”
* This is the second time “Forgotten” has been beaten by “Anarchy” in 18-49 this season.
* With baseball replacing reality on Fox Tuesday, NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” hit its best numbers of the season. Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” returns to Tuesdays next next week.
* “Melrose Place,” The CW’s lowest-rated show now that “The Beautiful Life” is gone, just got an order for five more episodes Tuesday, even though original recipe “Melrose” star Daphne Zuniga’s appearance failed to reverse its decline in 18-49.
* “Melrose Place” continues to pull a lower 18-49 number than Tuesday cable fare like “Anarchy” and MTV’s “The Hills” and “The City.”
* With “Hell’s Kitchen” and “So You Think You Can Dance” off Tuesday, “Dancing With The Stars” got a huge boost that allowed it to beat Fox’s playoff game by a wide margin in total viewers.
* Bottom-feeding “Shark Tank’s” season finale garnered the show’s best Tuesday number, bringing it into an 18-49 tie with “Leno.”

RATINGS UP.
-
Two weeks ago in 'Smite' he stole the episode in a scene with Clay. This week, he has another solid and subtle conversation with Jax about the healing of the MC. Goddamn epic.
-
Lots of dancing from teach tonight. Hiro is going to kick his ass when he finds out he is trying to bone Charlie.
-
is my favorite drama right now, with It's Always Sunny being my favorite sitcom. Go FX! Both of these shows absolutely rock!
-
How was he higher rated than Letterman for so long? Oh yeah, Lettterman lost it more than a decade ago.
All I know is that Conan is the ONLY lat night TV that is watchable on a regular basis since Arsenio Hall. -
And last night ep was suspenseful and had some twists!
-
At least there was a hockey game last night.
-
for a good night viewing? finish the night off with the Daily Show, Colbert and the Late Show with Craig Ferguson- the perfect night in.....

Herc, per a tweet from EW's Ausiello, Fox will shelve Dollhouse

for November sweeps, "and air back-to-back eps on Friday nights in December."
-
right now. So bizarre.
-
Never a good sign when they pull a series out of a sweeps period.
-
Burn, CW.
-
an I-95 World Series. :D
-
i really think the ratings will be the highest its been in years. if its yankees vs dodgers in the world series, that would be even better for the ratings.
-
Seriously, the show is filling the gap that my beloved "The Shield" left last season. Last night's one-on-one interrogations with that lady agent were terrific!!!
-
CW, must be calling Joss for a Faith series or something, "We need you Joss!!".
But could they afford Eliza, doubt it. -

NBC's decision to move Leno may be the worst in showbizz history
by bigtuna
Seriously, not just that he's bombing at 10 pm, Conan's getting his ass kicked at 11:30 and Fallon's not doing as good as Conan at 12:30. And the local news on NBC affiliates is being killed due to Leno.
-
Go Phillies; beat the Eeeeeeeeee-vil Empire. :D
-
Proclaim "Mission Accomplished", declare victory and move on.
-
Who the hell said Yankees vs Dodgers would be highest rated?? Yeah, let's watch the boring ass Dodgers when you have the awesome exciting Phillies going for a repeat. Any sports fan that wants Yankees/Dodgers isn't a true fan. Unless the dodgers are your team.
-
The boston affiliate didn't want leno from the get go. Even if NBC wants to force them to keep showing Leno, eventually the affiliates will force NBC to accept they made a mistake. Can't wait until that happens
-
Move Conan back to his old show, and kick Fallon out? That seemed to work a few years ago.
-
to Cable TV. Showtime or HBO would be fertile ground for an "R" rated Buffy/Angel-Verse Spin-Off...Think of the possibilities! Joss, it's time to forsake the limitations, and the unreasonable "NIELSEN'S ADDICTED" expectations of network television and make that jump!
-
And I mean that as a serious question, not with any snark behind it. I've only ever seen bits of it here and there and it always kind of gave off a JAG vibe to me -- which I know had it's share of fans, but never struck me as aicn geek material
-
NCIS is a charming, funny show with a cast that works great together. It used to be written off as an "old people show" much like JAG, but now that it's the number one show on TV people are paying attention.
-
gets booted from heroes...gets a gig with melrose place...not a good year for a really good guy
-
That just keeps on growing and getting better. It also greatly benefits by having one of the finest ensembles of quality character actors anywhere on tv right now.
-
Great show, smart cast. I've never been interested in this segment of society, but this show dragged me in. I'd like to see the guys who play Jax and Opie get jobs like Thor or Cap - cool dudes and they have the weight. If the producers work on the writing just a bit they could have another Sopranos. Very interested to see where this season goes - the opening was groundbreaking. Oh, and brilliant move bringing in Adam Arkin and Henry Rollins as AB. Seriously - genius.
-
That match up would have given them the best ratings in years. No one gives two shits about Killadelphia. People will watch for the Yankees. But Yankees vs. Dodgers would have been EPIC. Too bad. Now the real question is why do old people watch NCIS? I really should do research and write a book about this.
-
I don't like him either, but the joy whenever another program 'crushes' Leno by 0.2 of a rating is hillarious.
-
Best fight I have seen since Roddy Piper vs Keith David in They Live. It was that good.
-
The show is more entertaining than I expected, and seems to be one of the few reality-type shows that isn't mostly scripted.
-
Whattaya know? The head of the Boston affiliate -- my local NBC station -- may have been right about Leno. I also think he's show's existence is messing with Conan's show, as I predicted.Didn't I hear years back that Letterman was beating Leno until Hugh Grant came on the Tonight Show after his hooker adventures?
-
Fuck Mad Men and Lost. This is the best show on television. Great actors, great plot and real fucking action. Keep your conservative ad men with wife issues and give me kick ass jail fights. Fuck your mysterious Gilligan island and give me bikers protecting porn stars. This show is the truth.
-
Believe it or not, my 70+ year-old parents watch NCIS for Abby. They think she's "fun" and makes the show.
-
I like both Sons of Anarchy and Mad Men. Yes, there's something satisfying about a good jail house brawl, but the psychological warfare in Mad Men is also fascinating. And by the way, if anyone thinks Sons of Anarchy is anything other than an enjoyable fantasy, they are seriously deluded.
-
Seriously anybody at NBC start thinking that Leno ISN'T the whole problem? sure his ratings are Low but you put out a good product people will find it-local news rating are down-doesn't everyone tune in to the Daily show these days? so is Conan-big surprise- and Fallon-again big surprise.....Maybe it is simple that they don't have the TALENT to hold the audience-certainly compared to the competition. I'd rather be watching CBS-never found Conan Funny at all and Ferguson is Quiet simply THE BEST in late night........
-
And Katey Sagal deserves her Emmy. Peg Bundy who?
-
Programmers know what they want people to watch and neither know nor care what people want to watch.
Anyone involved with "Melrose" should be garrotted. -
.......DITTO! Not quite as good as The Shield, and nowhere near The Wire, but a great show nevertheless. I hope the audience continues to grow so the show can stick around for a while.
-
Leno's poor ratings are one thing. His show is cheap enough that NBC is probably still making money off of him. The problem for NBC is what he is doing to the rest of their lineup.
Fro example, both L&O shows are way down in the ratings. Both shows have also been forced to move to new timeslots that are not suited to their strengths. NBC moved the flagship show to Fridays. They tried that a couple of years ago and it failed miserably. What possibly made them think it would work now?
Other hour longs are also way down. And promising shows (like Southland) have been shelved.
-
is the best show on TV right now.
-
Its like one good one bad. This weeks was good, last weeks was bad (not really bad just kind of boring). Also did you know Katy is married to the creator of the show? She should get a Emmey nod/win for her performence in those first couple episodes from this season. And Cranston should win again. Anyone watching Nip/Tuck?
-
It's a very good show. F/X better hope NBC keeps Leno, because that means "Damages" will also benefit from the lack of competition when it returns after SOA is done with its 13 eps.NCIS's appeal is Abby, the goth tech girl, and Ducky the coroner who's played by David McCallum. They are the best written and best played parts. The stuff with the Israeli chick and the younger dude is just annoying crap trying to replicate "Moonlighting." Mark Harmon can be good, but half the time the scripts let him down.-----later-----m
-
Older people think she's quaint.....younger people want to sleep with her, win/win for CBS. Abby should have gotten a spinoff instead of NCIS: El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Angeles del Río de Porciúncula
-
And that lap dog got a new contract despite losing a 3rd of his audience after the election. This why Jay will always be on, he'll play the " you keep that loser on the last place cable news channel ".
-
...think TV is better than movies at this point? Every once in a while a good movie will come out, but to me the excitement is on TV with Dexter, The Tudors (underrated), True Blood, In Treatment, Sons of Anarchy, HBO's new Boardwalk series, plus all of your favorites.
-
easily my fav show right now. its not quite up there with the shield, but it does help fill the void. maybe kurt sutter had more to do with the shield than shawn ryan! the unit is ok, but thats it. SOA has the feel of the shield, the tension.. fucking brilliant. ya just know the last few episodes will be the best tv this year!
-
Sounds like it's tanking!
-
ya I'm sure you have the real inside scoop.
Go be a pissant elsewhere. The show is good. That's the end of that conversation.
You're an idiot. -
