NOW For Those Of You Not In The Know - Here's What To Know:
Butt-Numb-A-Thon (also known as BNAT) is an annual film marathon held every December since 1999 at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. It is hosted by Harry Knowles of the Ain’t it Cool News website in celebration of his birthday. This mini-festival shows 24 hours of vintage films as well as premieres.
The marathon is invite-only via an application process. The application process is run through the Ain’t It Cool News website and involves several essay-style questions and submissions of pictures, which is then used to create a yearbook with all the registered attendees. Competition to get in is fierce, as thousands or more applicants attempt to gain one of the approximately 200 seats. This system was put into place to ensure that only die-hard film fans would be in attendance as well as to be fair, as attendance is limited to the seating capacity of the Alamo Drafthouse.
Films that have been shown in past years include the first public screening of Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, as well as the The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Dreamgirls, Chicago, Black Snake Moan, Snatch, Magnolia, Knocked Up, 300, V for Vendetta, and both the original King Kong and the 2005 remake. Guests have included Mel Gibson, Zack Snyder, Peter Jackson, Seth Rogen, Eli Roth, Craig Brewer, Bill Condon, Vin Diesel, and Guillermo Del Toro. Some celebrity guests, such as Eli Roth, attend even though they may not have any films exhibiting but rather for the love of the event.
While BNAT has been home to numerous special screenings and celebrity guest appearances, as much or more significant to explaining the thrust and tone of this event is the many other movies that have been screened, as well as the unique impact of seeing 12-13 films and 30-40 vintage film trailers back-to-back over a 24 hour period without ever leaving the confines of the movie theater. For every premiere or widely known classic that has been shown, there has been a forgotten gem, a tiny independent work, a foreign title or a film that is unlikely to receive a public screening in any other venue due to content that would generally be considered perverse, disgusting or a reflection of cultural sensitivities no longer considered unacceptable. The event has also been characterized by such novel surprises as having a live band accompaniment to Buster Keaton’s silent classic The General, the delivery of fresh meat pies to attendees during the early screening of Sweeney Todd, and the use of electrically shocking devices to zap sleeping audience members during an intentionally interminable 3:00am viewing of 1950s creaker-classic The Giant Gila Monster.
Proceeds from Buttnumbathon fund the Saturday Morning Kids Club, a monthly free movie series at the Alamo Drafthouse which screens family-friendly classics on the last Saturday of every month.

I CAN DIE NOW!
-
is anyone willing to take up a fellow movie lover for a few days? ^_^
-
I'm not sure I can withstand so much cinema in such a short time... pity, since I shave my head now and then (it helps in hot weather).
-
Travel, other expenses, etc. Life sucks.
-
Want a ticket put on a TuTu and send me a pic
-
The BNAT questionnaire is always the coolest and weirdest. I love it.
-
Craziest movie event of the year. The geek equivalent of Wonka's golden ticket.
-
so I take it BNAT is only open to adults? careful there, big guy!
-
Best BNAT questionnaire I've filled out yet. Great questions, Harry!
-
I'm that hardcore.
-
Can I get paid to sit through some black and white 1930s movie?
-
Got my entry in. Hubby's will be in tomorrow. Too many years of getting it in right on the deadline.
-
my hands
-
...one day.
-
I think I'm going to hit up Austin that weekend regardless.
-
It most certainly has to be 'Realm of the Senses'. If you haven't seen it.... see it.
Asian ladies, doing it because they just. cant. not. do. it. -
...thought it was a genuine open question.
So...anyone else?
Favourite masterbation material (of course I mean within the confines of non-porn films) -
Some really good questions in the application.
-
Any word on an upgrade to the talk back system?
-
He's furiously googling the massive amount of masturbation materials he's culling from the applications.
-
How would you answer the question: "What is the full name of the person you wish to be seated next to, that you are applying with?"
-
I'm applying alone as well.. We should hang out brother...
-
Applying solo here too. :-) Mainly because I don't trust my friends and wouldn't want any of their crappy apps to lessen the chances of mine being selectd.
-
I put that I was applying with Nobody McGee, i.e. flying solo. Nobody, if you're reading this and I drag down you application, I'm soooo sorry.
-
Should we be elaborating on the favorite performance/role questions? I'd like to include brief reasons, but don't want to be disqualified for not following directions (since the questions don't ask why).
-
I hope we could elaborate, I ended up qualifying some of my statements though they didn't ask for it.
-
I think I'm going to do the same. However, there is a dystopian theme so maybe Harry has a machine automatically weeding out any applicants who don't follow the instructions exactly.
-
with this fuckin nerd herd.
-
I love Ghostbusters!
-
Joseph Wiseman, Dr. No, has died...
-
I know the photo needs to be as straight on as possible, but otherwise do you want the photo cropped to be a headshot alone, etc? Any specifics on size and resolution?
-
Good luck to everyone who enters! BNAT is only the coolest 24-hours you'll ever spend in one sitting with the coolest people around! Missing trying this year is tough, but I gotta put my kiddo first. Next year, though! Next year....
-
Mainly because none of my friends goo over film like I do. And it'll be nice to escape and meet some new people for a few days. This year has left me with little spare time to do fun stuff.
-
If we all get in BNAT, there is no better way than to sit next to each other since we're all flying solo...
-
Can't forget about you, if we all get in, we got ourselves a little group of nerds forming here...

I guess that makes both of us, right fagot? -
It's called Josh Swaney. Refer to it by its proper name, dammit.
-
one's ever heard of too update this site.
-
rejected BNAT people on Nov 1 who Harry got to shave their heads for nothing.
-
And now my house smells like a backyard tire fire. Fucking Japanese rubber novelty caps.
-
So are we supposed to know WTF Harry is talking about? I check the website out maybe twice a week. For those of us that don't sit on our asses all day reading every little tidbit, don't you think you could explain what is being signed up for and why?
I notice AICN has terrible writing. The headlines rarely make sense. Yet I still come here.. I guess I'm the retard after all. -
So you never masturbated until you were over 18?
And MegaBeth, if you go to the link there is a description of BNAT on the right.
-
oh, and actually within this post he describes it pretty well. So if you aren't getting it, then don't apply. Move along!
-
Um what? Hey look! I found a dumber talkbacker than me! WHOOOOOOOOO!
-
I don't see the date of the actual event on the application or the site. Or this post. Anyone know?
-
Nobody is a bigger douchebag though. You will ALWAYS be #1 so don't worry.
-
Thanks! I can always count on AICN to brighten up my day!
-
Harry? Joseph Wiseman just passed away. THE FIRST EVER BOND VILLAIN, yo! Show some love for old metal hands!
-
This is going to be so awesome. So incredibly awesome.
Harry, I just watched The Faculty again on Blu-ray last night, and it was cool seeing you in it, even more so having met you now. Perfect timing for Halloween, and the first thing that popped into my head was to make sure I take my awesome bald-headed-geek-cool photo in time for this awesome event to take place in my reality. I really want to be there with every other movie lover that gets in to this festival of cool. I haven't been to a BNAT before but I loved the Land of the Lost event and I'm hoping to be there for this. I can handle 24 hours. -
...that's embarrassing. Must have skimmed over it on that 'plication somehow.
-
Can you go if you're under 18?

For those concerned about the appropriateness of questions...
by headgeek
watch THX 1138... the root for nearly every question is there.
-
Indignation over the drug and masturbation questions should be grounds for immediate culling. Who doesn't like to pop some meds and rub one out to dancing chicks and police brutality?
-
Hey stupid you misspelled "Faggot". By the way your the one trying to pick up guys in this TB not me. Oh, and my screen is covered in jizz because I just got sucked off by your mothers severed head.
-
...provided we get in, how much do the tickets actually cost? I can't seem to find that info on the site anywhere.
-
Tickets for the last couple of years have been in the $65 each range. Not bad for 24 hours of pure awesome entertainment. Of course, you have to factor in money for some of the excellent Alamo Drafthouse cuisine too! :)
-
Ever since I've theme'd the photos for BNAT, beginning last year... it makes this process so much more fun. Going though these apps and reading everyone's responses are hilarious.
-
Harry, love the THX-1138 defence. It's hard to believe that George Lucas was so cutting edge in his younger days that people could be shocked by the appropriateness of a list of questions derived from one of his films.
-
My bald pic was a combination of bald cap and photoshop because the bald cap was a transparent piece of crap that looked awful. Here's hoping I get to go to BNAT this year. Been trying for four years now.
-
Faggot, does that describe your lifestyle.. Why does it bother you that I'm trying to reach out and make friends? Is sticking light sabers up your own cock not fun enough for you... Stay put in the Netherlands where you belong, if you happen to come down to Austin, I'll give you a real good southern ass whoopin muthafucka...
-
Someone, in the liked to sit next to box? Also since we are all putting are real names, wouldn't putting someones talkback name not make sense?
-
I was going stag. It saves me the trouble from talking a friend into filling out the app and then end up not going. This way if I don't get to go this year I'm only disappointed once instead of twice.
-
The Netherlands?? what the hell are you talking about?
Actually I spent 3 weeks in Austin a couple of years ago. What did I learn about Austin? its FILLED with Liberal art fags (you being one of them)lot of good bars though. I'm sorry that you have to resort to trolling websites begging for friends and gay love. I promise I will not pick on you anymore. Dry your tears little girl. Oh, and please remember this is a movie-nerd website. Nobody here knows how to fight (you included). Now please excuse me, I have to go hang out with my friends (jealous much?) -
Can I put you down as the person I want to sit next to?
-
Sorry, my dance card is full. However, a little bird told me a certain lonely little samurai needs a play-date that night. Watch him closely though.. I hear he is quite the horndog when it comes to men.
-
If darth_fuck_shit and I get in can I sit behind him?
-
Sorry Harry...accidently hit the send button on my application twice.
-
to all the buttsexx stories once the fest is under way. Make sure to twitter how the cock tastes.
-
Doubt I'll be getting in. I am neither a Harry Knowles cocksucker or cocksuckee. But I applied anyway, figure I can auction off the spot if I win.
-
Is that worse than getting picked last for gym class? It's like your neither jock or nerd, just a lonely pitiful soul stuck in between. A Jord?
-
I've actually seen a vagina (jealous much?) Mom's need her bacon salted, and I happen to have a special made sauce for her. And yes, you do suck cock that is why you were down in Austin in the first place.. Be honest, you don't give a shit about BNAT or movie news you were looking for a cock to suck.. I'm a nice guy just ask me and I'll be happy to service my load full of warm sizzled milk in your mouth...
-
("Mom's need her bacon salted, and I happen to have a special made sauce for her" I don't get it, so your bragging about fucking your mom now? What the hell are you talking about?? You some kinda weirdo?) In regards to the pass you just made at me, ya know this whole time I was just fuckin' with you. But apparently you REALLY ARE GAY!! I'm really sorry! Seriously, I don't consider myself a homophobe and I hope I did not offend (god this is so embarrasing!) Um... good luck on your search for a man, I'm sure there's so really nice guys on this site. Oh, and look out for Aids. It'll getcha.
-
Oh, and you do realize that its "butt numb athon" NOT "butt fuck athon" hate to disappoint.
-
on your own body right?
-
Darth fag- I believe it's playing near your town, just go through the back end and you'll find your way.
-
hmmmm, I wonder who's hosting it? I'll check the official website and be right back.... Hey! samuraiyao is hosting it! Awesome!
-
Since he worked on all them? Whether it was tuching up skripts, or dewing noo special efex, or just giving good plawt tipz to C-No or other directors. Thats reminds me of when I was watching MOON at the stickyfoot theater this last week. I was sitting in the theater next to C-No and gay Tom Cruise, I turned to C-No and said "that looks like Jettl93 quality work". Kurt Russell then laughed, so I knew it was ok.
-
I'm assuming it's Dec. 11th, right? What time does it start?
-
...I figgered it out. So how much are tickets?
-
December 12th at noon through December 13th at noon.... with a preparty beginning around 6 or 7 on Dec 11th.
-
It comes out on the 18th.
-
I sent my application Wednesday night about 1 am when I finished it. The pic is me, bald....going AS Harry himself. I have a swell mustache-less beard that's red from the theatre I work at and a bald cap. It's more wrinkled then Harry's actuall head, but I hope he gets the gist. Finding a smooth, good quality bald cap was not easy. I had a crummy 'skinhead' one, but you could see my purple hair right through it. So I got another one, thicker, but it's like an Ed Asner bald-head, complete with wrinkled forehead area. Oh... I guess I should say I'm going as Harry in drag...'cause I have on makeup and lipstick in it. And the b/f's glasses to help complete the pic.
I hope like hell I am on the list this year. I think BNAT's the coolest thing going for pure Dollar-to-Awesome ratio.
$1 = 7564323 in AwesomeBux. BNAT = $60 (I think, this year) is $453,859,380.00 in Awesome. That's nearly half a million AwesomeBux... that's the best deal you can make in these economic times. -
all this 'fag' and buttfuck talk. To paraphrase Shakespeare, "Methinks he doth protest too much".
Seriously...Harry's exited about his kick ass movie festival and you guys are being 11-year olds online. Give it a rest already. The rest of us are wanting to go to this, no matter how much buttfuckery you accuse it of.
J'accuse. -
People are saying it is good, and actually carries a political message. WHERES SAW??
-
BNAT is always awesome. But in regards to Avatar I think it is pretty well known that AICN and 20th Century Fox don't seem to mix.
-
I am looking forward to this.
I have always wanted to go, but alas the 'ex-wife' would never go for it.
Good thing I don't have this problem anymore.
I actually shaved mine but I wonder what the ratio is for shaved heads to bald caps.
-
I live in Melbourne Australia, and have no trouble traveling to Austin for the express purpose of going to BNAT. I mean, hell, I would travel to what's left of the Artic if it meant I could get into BNAT. But, is it seen as a disadvantage if you have to travel?

who wants to let me and my plus one crash on their couch?
by tomwaitsisgod
No way in hell can I afford airfare and hotel around this time of the year. Airfare itself? Maybe. Any complete strangers from the Austin area wanna allow a complete stranger from Massachusetts to crash? Oh come one! It'll be fun!! I mean we're all talkbackers on aintitcool, so we must be compatible on some level, right? Sure.
Hell, I don't even know hwo my plus one could be. My wife can't get the time off, my best friends got 3 kids he can't exactly walk away from, let alone be able to afford to get out there, my other best friend is otherwise untethered, makes plenty of money, but has the attention span of a bagel. I question his ability to lock it down for 24 hours. A shame. He could probably lend me the money to go, too. My dad has always wanted to go to Austin, has a decent credit rating, but falls asleep trying to watch damn near anything these days. Maybe I'll just fill out the application and see what happens. Bah. -
Actually - you fill out the app - the other country applicants tend to have a better shot than the domestic ones!
-
Just a thought...
-
Played that Year 1
-
My boss at work flipped out at me, my co-worker is leaving, and then it will just be the two of us... if that. And my family's car broke down completely now. It's going to be tough financially to get a replacement, but I think we'll do so somehow. Just, basically, this week has been very depressing. And I barely passed one of my midterms this week which I spent 17 hours studying on. My one gleam of hope for the future is really, truly the possibility of getting to go to BNAT... and I still haven't been able to take the picture and fill out the application. Hopefully tomorrow. But right now I'm sad. :(

This will be first ever year of not attending. Feels strange!

I didn't get one. As I recall, there was one last year although not everyone recieved one. Has this been changed or should I worry?

-
I think your fine, as just put in my app and I didn't get one either.
-
and i just got back from Texas, pay for my flight from Ireland and ill be happy to go hah, maybe next year.I should be living there by then anyway.
-
Maybe we'll stop getting shitty sequels!
-
You're right, we did get a confirmation email last year. I was wondering about this... my app isn't in yet, but now I won't be freaked out if I don't get a confirmation email.

-
Hey Harry... theoretically speaking... what happens if you list a bud to go with and they flake out with their application?
-
Then you're going alone
-
Madness!!!
-
Talk back upgrade coming?!
-
Harry, we so would like to be there in the awesomeness that in BNAT one of these years. And perhaps next year, we will make that drive to the great state of Texas and the wife & I look forward to meeting you, then having a beer or two or twenty. To all you lucky bastards that get to go this year-I say to thee; PLASE TAKE LOTS OF PICS and then make sure you post them here at AICN in The Zone! We want to see all the smiling faces and I want a full report from everyone involved in the party / mayhem. Thanks!
-
good to see you here. I am glad you're applying again, too!
Moi aussi. See you in the LJ goup or the Myspace? -
App is the easier part for me.
-
Well, I have mine submitted. The wife and I applied two years ago (as fiances) and now have come back.
Hopefully this is our year! -
Almost ready to submit.
-
There's some amazingly creative/committed/insane/hilarious/scary/fun individuals out there!
-
I was doing an Uncle Fester thing and I had a trick lightbulb and everything. Looking at the shots the next day, every shot we took with the fake lightbulb in my mouth sucked! I discovered that you need to turn your head slightly to sell the shot, but the bald cap or make-up was messed up in every good shot so I had to just go with a non-lightbulb shot. Oh well. I was going to do a Kojak thing with 70s clothes, big sunglasses and a lolipop, but I'm glad I didn't because the bald cap would have never worked without the make-up. I expect see some Coneheads and a Darth Maul or two. What did you guys try?
-
I went as Harry. I have a mustache-less red beard and a bald cap that makes me look like Harry/A Lawn Gnome and Ed Asner. And I made sure to borrow my b/f's glasses, but since he was the one taking pics, some came out better then others. It's a helluva combination, as I am a girl. But I had on lipstick and eyeshadow to compensate(?).
I am trying to get it on my LJ page (which I kinda only use for BNAT stuff --group is called BNATTERS) so look for it later. -
Oboy, this may be too much for some of the geeks on here to handle. Expect some marriage proposals.
-
photoshopped my face onto Vic Mackey from The Shield
-
And here I thought I was being really original. Not thrilled with the shot. Should've had it done at Olan Mills.
-
I just filled out an application. I need sleep now. I have work tomorrow!!! MAN!!!! I just really want to go so badly. The photo was smaller than the "perfect" size, hope that it works out fine. I spent a few hours with photoshop. Now I need to get my friend to fill out his application.
-
actually it was SALMON, but since you had trouble with it - I went to AQUA - just for you
-
Now THAT'S a movie I can't wait to see!
-
i really couldnt tell the diffrence between pink and salmon. thanks for holding us in supense by changing colors. aqua really gets my blood pumping.
-
...while completing my app. I felt more pressure here than I did on my final college exams. Granted, none of my college exam questions concerned themselves with masturbation or Robert Duvall films.
-
....or is it my cock and I? Oh well, just hope it helps me get in hehehe
-
Does that mean the beginning of the 30th or the end of the 30th?
-
The missus just submitted her app, and we realized the photo was in PNG format. Is this ok???
-
As long as they can open it in PhotoShop, I'm sure you're fine. PNG is a perfectly fine image file format. Good luck!
-
According to the source, it's dark red
<font color="DARKRED">1 more day!!!</font> -
Should I have been able to see the photo before I hit submit? I saw the location in the upload your photo field but I'm not confident that it was included with my application. Anyone else have this problem?
-
I didn't see a thumbnail of my photo either, but I did see the "Thank you for your submission" note afterward. As long as you saw that, I think you're OK.
-
Man...this happened last year. I got the "Thank you for your submission" note...but is it supposed to be followed by a confirmation e-mail?? Anyone else get one?
-
Good luck to everyone.
-
Was getting nervous. I apologize for my lack of photoshop skills.
-
I have till 12 Midnight (Central Standard Time) on October 30th.
-
I just clicked submit and it says no more apps are being taken. What is the deal? No riddles, no euphemisms, please. Have mercy. I am in danger of having a heart attack.
-
It looks like there was no confirmation email this year, judging from my experience and several other people. If you saw the "Thank you for your submission" note, you're good. I hope.
-
Yeah I'm not sure either. There was a BROWSE button but no UPLOAD button. My guess is, it would upload once you hit Submit, but I don't know for sure.

Oh man, I've been dying to go to BNAT for each of the previous years...just a chance to be with a whole theater full of movie loving geeks like myself is driving me to distraction! It's like being 6 years old and waiting for Santa Claus...although I'm hoping our favorite jolly bearded big man brings me the okay to attend BNAT instead of toys!
-
I submitted my application almost a week ago and now im wondering if it even went through.
-
Last year we had a guy with "furious bowels syndrome." You don't eat three meals at the Alamo in 24 hours without some issues.
-
When I added my photo to my app, there was a browse button to locate my photo but no upload button. So when I was done with the questions, I simply hit the send button. Now I am paranoid that my photo never got submitted. why god why???
-
I ended up sending mine twice because the first time as I was sending it, I saw my photo information disappear from the form before the form went away...although I did get the little confirmation screen that my application had been sent....we'll see soon, I guess :)
-
Should I resubmit my app?
Is there any way to find out if it actually went through? -
Does submitting early help in being selected?

Is anyone actually dumb enough to apply without a bald pic?
-
Are you guys serious? The photo upload wasn't working? How was Harry having such a great time checking out photos if it wasn't working? When I clicked submit, it took a bit before it submitted, which made me thing it was grabbing my photo. All is not lost though. I thought my bald pic was crazy enough, I've been using it everywhere now! LOL
-
came with its photo. Everything being posted here about the back end of the process is bullshit. It all worked great.
-
My friend, who hopefully will get in along with me, was not able to submit an application until yesterday. I actually scrambled to make sure he was able to take a photo and finish it in time. Can't wait to find out who made it in tomorrow!
-
as much regarding photo uploads ;)

Site traffic will probably be high today, as people like me continually hit Refresh all day.
Harry, what will it take for me to get in? How about some time with my friend "George Washington"? -
I have a script running that reloads the RSS feed every ten minutes and texts me if it changes.
-
Even thought I know Harry's still sleeping off his Halloween party I can't help, but want to refresh constantly. It's a sickness.

Damn it, Harry, relieve these people's tension!
by the reluctant austinite
Hehehehe. I had "too much candy" nightmares all night. I'm never going to mix soda, coffee and chocolate together ever again. I watched the entire Bob Burns Halloween Shows documentary last night online for free, and if any of you haven't seen it, it's AMAZING. That should give you something to while waiting. Remember, Harry has to review all the last minute applications and type the whole list up; that's pretty time consuming in itself. Good luck. Next we can all start making guesses about what we might see. I'll start! I wonder if "Tale of an Ancient Empire" might not get a world premiere peek at BNAT?
-
I did allow myself to sleep for a few hours though - but it wasn't very restful. I couldn't stop thinking about "The List".
-
Hopefully I get in so I can come back to Austin for a weekend!
-
I left Harry's party around 4:30 am and he was still holding court. BTW Harry in a Sully costume is scarier than one would think.
-
Arrgh! I know I probably didn't get in, since I never do, but I still want to know...
-
...will mean nothing to me without a BNAT invite. For those of you who don't know, a Vikings game was the thing on in between Avatar trailers.
-
I'm in the same boat.
-
According to Harry's tweets
headgeek666 -
ugh, gonna need another day or so to get through all these apps for BNAT. Turning in. Still recouping from epic Halloween Bash -
The Hawkeyes won this weekend, it is a great sign to get my first BNAT invite. Right?
-
I too have been refreshing constantly. I had to drive to Arlington from Fort Worth yesterday and had a friend check for me. She texted me and told me my name wasn't on the list. I was really upset, but turns out she was looking at last years list!!!! I can't wait. Good Luck all.
-
I am the same way. We couldn't apply last year, because of a death in the family, and we want to go SO badly.
-
This is my first year to apply. Hope to meet you there!
-
We applied two years ago, and sadly, didn't make it.
So, we are really hopeful as well!
-
No work getting done today as people keep checking AICN.
-
I am so pins & needle-y!
-
Headgeek tweeted late last night that he's going to need a couple more days to get through all the applications. I'm not going to start holding my breath until Wednesday morning.
-
when it comes to reading all of our apps. I think last year, he posted on Nov. 3. I definitely want to see the list... hoping I'll get in, but I know Harry can only do so much at one time. Just take deep breaths and focus on other things, right?
-
...me... I wanna stay here and obsess a bit and refresh like every 10 minutes, each time with a pit in my stomach, thank you very much.
ps... I can now googlewave on the topic. find me at mediatsarina@googlewave.com and we'll talk. -
I'm with you. It's like the day before christmas, waiting for the presents.
Except, instead of waiting to see what you'll get you wait to find out if you'll be allowed to celibrate christmas this year. -
That was really frustrating. Also, as part of my invite, I was responsible for picking the BNAT mascot. I don't get it either.
-
I actually woke up with some anxiety because everyone knew it was my job to pick the mascot (it said "Official Mascot Coordinator" next to my name on the list), and I hadn't made a decision yet.
-
Just keep hoping, just keep hoping...
-
I'm so used to not seeing the list, that I'm not going to beleive it when it's posted
-
Nothing worse then BNAT dreams when you are waiting n the list. Makes the wait 10 times worse. I'm just crossing my fingers & thinking good thoughts while I wait patiently.
-
When we were waiting last year (the year I didn't get in and it broke my heart, but that's another story ;) ) I would wake up during the night a few times and check the site on my phone. Finding out at 2am (and your alarm goes off at 4am) that you didn't get in sucks!
-
I am so excited to know who made it into BNAT...I can barely contain myself. My co-workers want to know who is in too since I am only able to focus on this one issue. Please movie gods, choose me to be one of the lucky ones that are blessed with the chance to go to this event. My birthday is Dec. 19th and BNAT is just as important to me as it is to Harry. I love you AICN, and I hope you love me too...
-
I hope hope hope I get the call to Valhalla from on high from the fat red-bearded geek Odin himself!

Seriously, I haven't posted in over a year...
by thisisthestupidestfuckingthingiveeversee
...and this is what's finally pulled me back into the fray. I GOTTA KNOW FOR FUCK'S SAKE! I've got a trip to Austin planned that weekend, and this would totally make my trip. In fact, I'm moving down there in March and wanted this to be my "Welcome To Austin" shindig. Unofficially. But the fucking tension is killing me. I've checked AICN's front page no less than 100 times today. Good way to get that ad revenue up, I suppose...but come on, sir, let's get this thing ANNOUNCED!
-
I had 4 dreams about this last night. In 2 of them, I got picked, in 2 I did not... I'm a wreck today, haha.
-

If I don't get in I am going to fucking kill myself.
by darth_fuck_shit
I have not slept in 8 days, I cannot keep food down, my dick is limp as a noodle, I hear voices, i sweat a lot. All I think about is BNAT. My mortgage is 30 days past due, I stopped going to work, I cry a lot, my wife has moved out of the house, I want to strike my children. I can no longer control my bowels, I am 40% anxiety / 60% rage. I do not know how I will react if I do not get in. A fat crippled guys birthday party is the most important, all-encompassing thing in my life. I used my last $30 to buy a stolen gun yesterday. The gun tells me to hurt. I hope they show Avatar.
-
"A fat crippled guys birthday party is the most important, all-encompassing thing in my life." Kudos
-
It is the most "up in the air" thing in my life at the moment.
-
so I'll be numbing my ass, in Hanover, Mass.
-
I slept next to my computer and woke up every hour or so to check...It's exciting, but I'm ready to know.
-
"For those wondering about BNAT. At this point, I am awaiting the final seat count that I have available from the Drafthouse. Tonight."
-
Please have however many seats it will take for me to get in. If it's takes a renovation, then that is what it takes.
-
But that was pretty fucking funny.
-
Yeah, I know... it's just how I'm coping. Trust me... I'm obsessing too!!
-
that's fine by me. Count those seats carefully and hopefully there's one for me!
-
I don't know why you are so nervous. Like you wouldn't get in. Me on the other hand, who hasn't applied in the last 4 years, sent in lame answers because I was doped up on pain pills (post surgery), and does not know Harry personally, I am worrying. Actually, I'm not really worrying since I'm like 99% sure I won't get in, but keep checking none the less. But you? Come on! You're golden.
-
Oooops, My mistake. You are not who I thought you were. It just dawned on me. Damn pain pills making me jump to "you're golden" conclusions. Forget I said anything. Who am I to say anyone's golden anyways?
-
... if that helps. But I do that everywhere.
-
Waitin....
-
is that for the hemorrhoids?
-
Every morning before work, during lunch, and after work - um, after work I probably check on it every hour (or less). I'm having trouble sleeping because I'm too busy thinking about getting in, and this is seriously going to make or break my Christmas season cheer. I am so excited for BNAT but have no idea if I'll get in and am still anxious over seeing "the list". Hopefully later today or tomorrow Harry will post it and we can relieve out anxiety.
-
Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results?
Harry has officially driven us all bonkers! -
I've been laid off, and my recent job prospect went to someone with more experience, so BNAT's more or less all I've got to look forward to right now. Yet I'm guessing my entirely terrible 2009 will still end with me not getting in. ARRGH! I just want to know so I can get on with it!

The Waiting is the Hardest Part
Everyday you see one more card
You take on faith, you take it to the heart
The Waiting is the hardest part
Plus it help I have been home sick since Monday, so there is nothin' better to do between old movies and porn than to check in and see if I am a chosen one.
-
If it is, David Hume would have been the King of the Crazies.
-
So this is what it feels like.
-
His floor was just Swiffered
-
As of 2 hours ago, he still hasn't received the final seat count from the Alamo.
-
And, how they are to blame for waiting.
-
I thought when Harry's bald twitter pic was up, it was a hint. I'm reading into everything now.
-
I've never been awaiting something like this since I was a child waiting for Christmas! Love the feeling actually :). Nice to know there are still things in life that can do that to you...
-
I don't know if I'm more excited at the chance to go to BNAT or nervous that I might not get in. Either way can't wait to find out.
-
It's fun reading everyone's frantic excitement/frustration. I know exactly how you guys feel. I got into BNAT 6 back in '04 the first time I applied. It was freaking awesome of course but I've applied every year since and never gotten back in. My hopes aren't nearly as high as they used to be as the years have passed. But I still really want to get back there. That's cool that newbies get a chance to go but man I'd love to make it back..I did get to go to half ass a thon so that was cool too.
-
This is my third time applying. Keeping my fingers crossed that I make it this year. I sacrificed a he-man toy this morning hoping it would help. My house still smells like burnt plastic
-
It is fun! Usually just waiting to get let down..again..wife made a bnat.. Me - Pineapple x.Nice
I'm w/u on 3rd time..c'mon now! lets do this baldies!! -
und try to hang on.
-
Will occur when the list comes out. Hopefully it will be celebratory!
-
What he-man figure?
Man - at - Arms go the way of the gods?
-
I actually used Man-E-Faces for my ritual sacrifice. His different faces represent the different emotions that I am going through while waiting to find out my BNAT fate.
(you don't want to know what I did with Teela) -
I hope it did not involve Battle - Cat
-
I think I recall Man-At-Arms screaming that once or twice, if that gives you a hint. Battle Cat only watched
-
So my birthday is on Sunday. I guess he´s waiting till the last minute to give me my present hehehe.
-
The tension that is.
-
Horrible
Just awful
-
have i clicked on a page so much. give us an update at least, mang! harry gets off on withholding.
-
How long can it possibly take for a theater to count how many seats it has?
-
I was gonna do that joke yesterday, but with the punchline "Made you look."
But I didn't.
-
I made it t 2:05PM central time until I refreshed for the 112th time today AICN.COM to see if I was selected for BNAT XI!!!!!
-
The loud silence was gonna make me crack, or smoke crack.
"It was great, it's crack, it gets you really high." -
headgeek666
Placing the final 21 attendees into my BNAT list - finally got the seat number cleared up. BNAT LIST Coming soon -
I get off work in 15 minutes and drive 45 to get home. It's going to be the longest drive ever. Can't wait! good luck again everyone!
-
And when I say God, I mean you Harry
-
while I am keeping my fingers crossed for myself and my buddy to get in, I'll send some good karma your way too
-
Thanks! I'll do the same.
-
Now choosing the final 2 attendees of BNAT til Standby Line...
I hope its me and the wife! -
headgeek666: The list has been chosen. Candidates were placed in 3 categories: (2721 FAILURES, 3407 MAYBES and 188 WINNERS.)
-
Hope I was at least a maybe
-
that number seems so small
-
chance of getting in, i think. but i suck at math. yeah, i hope i was a maybe a least. being a failure sucks. there's always next year!
-
I will be wearing a T-Shirt that says "One of the 2.9%"
-
Your shirt should have a sperm wearing a BNAT t-shirt as well
-
Did you factor in celeberty status?
-
It's actually 2.9766%, so you really should round it up to 3%. Makes it sound more promising to me.
-
i should times that by 2. so really there's a 6% chance of getting in. not bad. not bad.
-
three submissions. three denials. i shed a tear and move on
