* !!!!! “House,” delayed 43 minutes by baseball, was overtaken for the first time by “Big Bang Theory,” which is (for the moment at least) America’s top rated show in 18-49. That means it even beat last week’s scores for “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Desperate Housewives” and “NCIS.”

* Jenna Elfman sitcom “Accidentally on Purpose” now looks like more like a hit, matching its best number to date and nearly matching “How I Met Your Mother” in 18-49. We’ll see if this keeps up the next time “House” starts on time.

* “Leno” hit its all-time Monday low at 1.4. (The show on Friday hit a 1.2, its lowest score on any night to date.) While NBC is hopeful ratings will improve when rival hourlongs go into repeats, it’ll be interesting to see what happens when Leno’s lead-ins go to repeats as well.

* ABC’s “Castle” isn’t setting Monday nights afire, but is doing well enough to pull on Tuesday a “back nine” order that will keep its lights on until May.

The Heroes premiere was WAY fucking down from last season, and is now down further than that. Deservedly so. iTunes Visualizer Girl is a bore and Hiro's magic act last night sent me to running to my White Collar screener.

We finally bailed on it - well, bailed on "actively" watching it. There's some interesting stuff with the sideshow people, but I don't know if it's the writing or that I'm just not paying attention, but I couldn't follow a goddam thing that was going on 2 weeks ago. We were OOT and I didn't even set the DVR to record it, so now were down an EP or two - I would much rather watch house. The Hiro "superheroes for hire" was f'in tedious.

Another clever name for Deaf Girl!

    by starwarsredux

And saves us the time of having to figure out how to spell "synesthesia". Still, the rest of the episode made up for the corn-syrup, in my mind. And the bump the premiere got from DVR was comparable to what you reported for "Dollhouwe", wasn't it? At any rate, it's stabilized, and let's face it, the big reason it's taken the dip is NBC reshuffling their lineup to accomodate Leno in primetime.

It no longer has Chuck as a lead in and is on at 8 instead of 9.

I think Natgan/Sylar is playing the carnival folks

    by jimbojones123

He jumped on board full force too easily. He is setting up to destroy them from the inside. I hope. Otherwise we just jump right back into flipflopping characters. I am very excited for Hiro to finally get closure for Charlie. If last week were a 9 episode, this week was a solid 7. Still as good as anything since season one. Better than Blunder Twins, more corporation infighting, plots that destroy friendships and allign enemies again and again. I am most interested in when the two Sylar personalities fight for control. We have seen the dualing Sylar fighting with himself, could the better half actually have a fighting chance? I hope so. Noah actually becoming the Noah from Season one FutureHeroes. Pete doing ALL the right things. Ma Patrelli having NO power at all among her sons. Parkman in a battle that rivals hero and villan battles of legend. No Mohinder. Very little Nikki/Jessica/Traci ( I forget the fourth personality ). I miss Technowizcomputer kid and mimiccousin. I really dread more backstory coming up with Kidangela, but I can forget it just as well as I forgot it last season.

    by aversiontherapy2

But it's just crap now, whatever they had they blew it, the magic is gone, the genie's out of the bottle. There were a couple of good episodes last season, Minnear's I think, but this season has continued with everything that didn't work about last year. The writers just don't seem to be able to help themselves, they have to pour on more characters and plots while existing ones continue to either confound, bore or just make no sense whatsoever within the universe they have established. It's a huge shame, the first season was one of the best. Since then it's been confusing and self-contradicted rubbish.

HOUSE turned in another excellent episode

    by yackbacker

I thought they were going to punt on the Chase plot thread but they brought it back in full force. I love the twists (predictable as they are, they are still all very believable and emotionally genuine, particularly the Cameron stuff). I also love the groundwork being laid for House getting laid properly by Cuddy. And how fucking cool is House whispering at the end? The show is just perfect. If you like BIG BANG THEORY (like my old lady) that's fine, there's room for both in this DVR/Hulu age. But as far as network TV goes, HOUSE is rock-solid television.

    by pennsydeux

and will stay around 5.5 to 5.7m viewers and a 2.5 in the demo. But it's too late. Please let nrn be right and it's Sylar who does the job to Peter. Sylar is the Triple H of Heroes; somebody who's been pushed at the top far, farther and FARTHEST too frakkin' long. Time for a new big bad.

    Folks bitching about HEROES

    by yackbacker

I hear you all. I watched the show with a lot of excitement during the first season and then the finale happened. That's when I realized the series was an empty vessel. Could they have fixed things? Yes, but even under the best of circumstances it became clear to me that the series was telling a story that was built around the "tease" primarily. It's like listening to some girl tell you how she had some sexy lesbian tryst in college, but talks more about the curtains and decorations in the dorm room, forgetting to divulge the details of her sapphic partner.
So, for me, I gave Season 2 about 2-3 episodes to get me back and it never happened. I stopped caring about the characters and story and have since erased the space it was taking up in my brain and filled it with more worthy diversions. My advice to you haters- move on like I did. And to those who love the show still, right on! You are enjoying the product and that's cool with me. Your numbers are dwindling, however, and NBC will most definitely be canceling the series after this season but at least someone is getting enjoyment out of this show.

Didn't Mad Men use to pull 1.0 ratings? Look at the decline. I haven't been especially motivated to watch the last three episodes (I downloaded them. They're just sitting on my desktop.). It seems other viewers are feeling the same way. I didn't think the show was that different this season, but clearly it is.

Could you add the airtime (10pm) to these lists?

    by chewtoy

It would really make it much more clear how shows are doing in their time slot. I often don't know the line ups for each network, and while the expanded coverage added today was cool to see, it made it that much harder to figure out.

On a side note, baseball (which does suck compare to football) really screwed House. Fox did themselves no favors by not running some kind of announcement that their regular Monday night programs would be airing after the game. Or if they did, I missed it... Either way, I tuned in at 8 and said "Crap... Baseball is on tonight" without realizing that it was extra innings instead of what was regularly scheduled. Luckily, I finally did notice later while flipping channels, so I caught House anyway.

Fox sucks so much wehn it comes to baseball.

    by gusborwig

I know it isnt completely Fox fault, but they just should have skipped House this week. The Angels/Yankees game took so long, they should have just aired a post game show then went to Lie to Me.
They do this shit all the time on Sunday. Fox seems to have the bad habit of preempting their most popular shows for sports which generally get lower ratings. This then screws the TV fans out of some great television. I know its usually just delayed until after the game. Some people including myself have to get to sleep early in order to work very early hours. I watched the game hoping it would end so I could see House. Unfortunately this did not happen until it was too late for me. I kinda feel screwed. Guess Ill have to watch it on hulu or download it illegally when I have the time. I know it wasnt anyones fault. I just wanted to vent about this.

I like big bang. Probably the only sitcom I watch these days. But House is still the superior show, especially this season has been strong. Meanwhile, as for that Elfman show...I've only seen it once and although I think it is bad, it wasn't the complete crap-disaster I expected. Good enough for the mindless viewing habbits of the general public, so it will stick around a while. Or at least until Elfman annoys everyone with her insane scientology crap.

Then again, I always watch everything on DVR these days. So I'm not counted in ratings.

Didn't the show producers admit that they used time travel too much of a crutch several years back. Now they are using it as a plot devise with Hiro. Granted they have to do something with Hiro since he has turned into the most boring and idiotic character on the show.
No wonder why Heroes is a distant fifth at the 8PM timeslot (if you factor in ESPN's MNF). The show has totally lost its direction. It has gotten slightly better this season, but still is a shell of season 1.

I still say that it's closer to 3rd Rock from the Sun because every episode ends with them discussing their misadventures on the rooftop of their home. Also, every character is French Stewart. Think about it! You know it's true!

    Yeah, they need a Kelso

    by lockesbrokenleg

Maybe a new apartment neighbor in the next season? I like BBT, but sometimes, the funny Trek/Wars jokes get on my nerves.

Hey, Locke, I just pulled a you in the Von Trier TB

    by stabby

If BBT gets a new neighbor it will probably be another hot chick or an actual hot chick.

I just found out Katee Sackhoff is going to be on BBT in October. Looks like your wish came true.

    Not necessarily my wish

    by stabby

Just my prediction. I hope Katee kicks the crap out of those pussies like she did to the Bionic Woman.

    by chronicallydepressedlemming

all things that SHOULD be discussed in Coaxial, but because they have nothing to do with Buffy are completely ignored.

    CBS football overrun...

    by ryan_leaf

...an 8.6 for a game that ended 59-0? Can't be right... And ALCS extra-innings pushed back House, at least on the East Coast, so let's see what next week brings before we crown a lame sitcom the new Monday Night king.

    by skimn

interesting on a curiousity level. Now, its just beating a dead horse. Leave the ratings stuff to USA Today and EW.

    Heroes begins the climb up

    by shutupfanboy

I said it a few weeks ago that Heroes was going to begin its push and so far so good. The show is taking the pace it need for Season 3. Too much crap happened in Season 3, it was a WTF moment every night. The show has become more of a human drama then a special effects banza. I also disagree with Nathan dying in Season one, he was needed for the underrated fugitive storyline. If anyone should have died in season one's finale it was Sylar or at least not gotten back to being a God character.

There's a special section of Hell made specifically for sell outs. Jay Leno and Tim Allen have their tickets stamped and ready.

    Heroes is just insulting

    by nicegoogly

What the fuck? A vast majority of the fans have asked for Full powered Peter, Peter's scar and bad-ass hero. This might be the last fuckin' season for this shit and they still can't pull out the stops. Claire doing laundry? Claire kissing other girls? Claire being hazed by a sorority? This is skinemax with no fuckin' payoff. This show is really pissing me off and I want to love it so damn bad. It just doesn't love us.

    Hercules

    by badmrwonka

this last episode of Heroes was really fun, and the magic show, and the girl coming to peace with her powers, and Hiro going for Wiki-girl again, it was all, well, "nice" (for lack of a better term). I don't care about the ratings for this show anymore. I don't know why you have such a hard-on for ratings all of a sudden, but it's a real shame.fuck, even the West Wing had ratings trouble. as Bill Murray said in Groundhog Day, "People like blood sausage, too...people are morons..."just had more faith in you, Herc.

    one more thing

    by badmrwonka

some of us watched this show from the beginning without wishing every moment was an all out True Lies action spectacular. I like the ebb and flow of the show, and while some of the things in it frustrate me, on the whole it's great fun.I do wish they'd kill off a few characters, just to have fewer actors on the payroll so it would be cheaper to make.

    CSI: Miami

    by bizarrojerry

David Caruso is a comic genius. I'm telling you, if you think that show sucks try watching it again, but as a comedy. Caruso is friggin' hilarious. And the fact that so many people make fun of his "clever" line and cut to theme song bit makes me think the show's writers are in on the joke. Even Caruso may be. There's usually some nice tits on the show, too.

Who are these supposed 18 - 49 year-olds watching BBT?

    by mrgreenstache

I just don't get it? It is so dumb!

Why do people want to watch bullshit nerds making jokes that no nerd has ever really made when they can watch HIMYM with characters that are nerdy in a believable way.

Is this really the comedy that will be replacing Seinfeld and Friends in the public zeitgeist?
