Adam Shankman To Throw ROCK OF AGES At New Line!!

Adam Shankman, director of the HAIRSPRAY movie, will take on another musical by adapting Broadway's ROCK OF AGES for the big screen. Constantine Maroulis, a former AMERICAN IDOL contestant, stars in the stage iteration of this play - for which he received a "Leading Actor in a Musical" Tony nomination. No word on if he'll appear in the film.

The tuner tells of two people who meet at the Sunset Strip club Rock of Ages, fall in love and try to stay together amid'80s rock anthems made popular by Journey, Twisted Sister, Joan Jett, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar and other groups. New Line is clearing music rights to the tunes.
