the movie sucks.
-
...not in the movie.
-
and the laywer got eaten.

It was very well done. I'm NOT a horror movie fan, but it looked interesting and it was worth it. I've never been in a theater with so many people screaming! With all of the movie making going on here in Michigan, I wish they'd have something like this event here...it sounds like a LOT of cool stuff.
-
this film would have bee much cooler had it been released about 6 years ago. Was still pretty cool though. Read my review of Paranormal Activity here and let me know what you think. http://sickpicks.blogspot.com/ Thanks.

Any word on an upgrade to the talk back system?

A tad bit?! Dude- this movie is like Fanboys- OVERRATED
by daniel_larussos_gonna_fight
Thanks Harry for really blowing the lid off this film- its so overrated , everyone expected somethign on an Exorcist level...instead we get you going bonkers over a below average film ( ala FANBOYS )

I have the DVD, and I saw it, and it was sooo low budget. It was just plain unfunny. I'm a Star Wars fan, and I don't drive across country to see Lucas. What a shitty story.

Just got back from a screening of this, and have gotta say that the hype machine has been working extra hard for this mediocre film. The first half works really well, overall, using the whole "fear of the unknown" to great effect, but from there it degenerates until the end. The acting gets worse, the 'plot' doesn't gel, and I found myself rolling my eyes and completely unafraid of the last fifteen minutes. What a shame. The studio shoulda remade it after all. "Blair Witch", FTW. <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> ***SPOILER ALERT*** <br> For the record, if an entity ever pulls me out of bed by my leg and drags me down the hall, afterwords I'm going to do SOMETHING or go SOMEWHERE, despite the fact that things might get worse. You can quote me on that. <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> ***END SPOILER***

I heard it blows and now after trying to tell everyone we weren't gonna get to see it, and making us demand it, they aren't seeing the return they wanted. Now they are trying to stir up more interest in it by throwing free screenings all over the place(Austin and Chicago). Smells of desperation to me. Fuck they already made their money on it. have some dignity.

After a few weeks, when all the hype storm bullshit has cleared...I want to read about what people really think of this. I fucking hated Blair witch, and my wallet stung from the ripoff. I want to believe that this movie isn't such a POS, but I am not falling for that over the top fanboygasm twice.

really feels like something that was made for SciFi, oh sorry, SighFye
-
and i was a bit underwhelmed. i guess i expected so much more from all the hype. i went in with the expectation that i was going to have the shit scared out of me -- literally. instead, i got intermittent scenes of creepiness bookended by long stretches where i was pretty fucking bored. yes, it was creative, and i did like the ending, but i've seen the "slow build-up" method used to much more frightening effect in recent horror movies (Teeth and The Orphanage are just two examples) that didn't have me bored as hell in between the scary scenes. I'm happy that it's making a shit load of money because that would be good for the independent horror genre, but i just don't see why it was so well received. Even the rowdy packed house midnight audience i saw it with were laughing throughout the film and were ultimately let down by it. oh, and fanboys was hilarious, so i don't know what the fuck any of you guy are talking about.

It's just in vogue around here whenever someone doesn't personally like a film to say it's 'overhyped' instead of simply accepting it just wasn't to their taste. Fanboys was feted around here as a funny film, worth a look by Star Wars fans that wasn't getting the exposure it deserved, and all of that was true. No-one said it was the greatest film in the world, but when someone doesn't like it, oh dear, "overhype" apparently. As to this Paranormal Activity, will give it a go. Am not expecting miracles but it might be a laugh.

As someone who has been screaming to friends and co-workers that the state of horror films has been that of a garbage dump for the past decade or so, I was thrilled to hear what PA was trying to do-- "Blair Witch" mixed with "The Haunting". Two of, in my opinion, the scariest movies of all time. I walked out of this movie so disappointed. The acting was weak (Katie had a few good scenes though), the dialogue was cringe-inducing at times (who the hell calls their significant other, let alone ANYONE, by their first name THAT many times in a single scene?), the characters were boring as all hell and I didn't give a shit as to what happened to them. I never believed for a second that this was really happening to them due to their reactions. The part that made me laugh out loud was when they were reviewing the tape from the night the sheets moved on their own and Katie says, blandly, "I THOUGHT something happened last night". The repetition of scenes in the bedroom grew tiresome, no matter no elevated they became. The shots of Katie standing on the side of the bed for long periods of time were hysterical because they decided to "fast forward" the footage, which made it look like we were watching lost footage from Benny Hill (simple dissolves would have been more affective and helped to stop the audience from laughing). The psychic tells them at the beginning, "I don't do demons and that's what it sounds like you have." Yet, for some reason, he's brought back toward the end to say the exact same thing that was covered in that previous scene. It would have been far better to have them bring in a priest who says, "Fuck all y'all...I'm out of here." What was the point of introducing the internet story about a girl from the 60's who had experienced the same thing? You've already sold the fact that there's a ghost in the house and it is following Katie. No point whatsoever. I could go on and on... So disappointed.

It made fun of Trek and Wars fans. Thankfully, it was ignored by most of them. Good riddance, Fanboys.
-
..it was fantastic! Very well done. I'm glad it's doing well.
-
and it had nothing to do with making fun of Trek and Wars. In fact I am all for making fun of the uber fans of either franchise. The movie just sucked butt on every level. It literally put me to sleep. I came back and finished watching it and wished I hadn't. I had high hopes because of the cast but was let down by a shit shit shit shit shit story. How the hell can you dare to make a bad movie about movie fans. EPIC FAIL.
-
It was slightly better.

go check it out http://www.l4dmods.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=265:in-the-spotlight-dismember-the-alamo&catid=2:news&Itemid=13

The directing was inept, the jokes fell flat and parts of it were flat-out stupid. I guess truly bad movies are not to my taste. Calling it "good" would be overhyping it.
-
were pathetic. The writing tried(and failed)to pander to the demo. It was awful.
-
It sounds like alot of fun.
-
You can tell he probably whipped through that script in two days.
-
One of the few people, who actually liked the film, Fanboys.
-
Its another shaky cam, poorly acted, miracle of marketing that somehow has generated mainstream buzz. The movie is too long, boring, and way overrated. It will soon be recognized as the equivalence to Blair Witch as soon as this hype dies. The movie is a marketing machine and nothing more. Anyone that enjoyed this film is lying to themself and should go see Drag me to Hell instead
