Cool News
Are Jude Law and Robert DeNiro aboard THOR? Seems like they are, but as who?
Hey folks, Harry here with the latest bit of Superhero Film Casting News and it is very strange indeed. According to actor, Matthias Schweighöfer, who you may have seen in VALKYRIE or RED BARON - in an article in the German edition of Gentlemen's Quarterly aka GQ, he states that he's in the running for a role in Branagh's THOR, but he also mentions that Jude Law and Robert DeNiro have joined the cast.
Now, I don't doubt that they have, they're very much the sort of Actor I would expect from a Kenneth Branagh helmed THOR film, I'm just absolutely flummoxed to think who they are playing. I have to give thanks to our German reader, "I SAY THEE FUCKING KA-JAY!" for giving me the heads up on the article. And for that matter, who would Matthias Schweighöfer play? Interesting times as these Superhero films rush to begin shooting soon!

-
Still curious to see how they tie it all together in Avengers.
-
NOW,THAT's interesting if it's true....maybe DeNiro is just playing a cop or something??lol..wiseguy?Bit of a stretch for him I guess.Only time will tell.
-
Playing up his tough guy image. Damn when is that coming to Blu-Ray, best fantasy film of the noughties.
-
just seems... weird. But then again he did Rocky & Bullwinkle. Yea, I'm all for him as Odin!
-
This could pan out to be true, but come on... Loki and Thor are already cast. Who would Law be? Where is there room for DeNiro? Why would either of them agree to be in this? Let's see how it pans out, but this is probably about as official as Beyonce being Wonder Woman.
-
I got this info from my sweet inside connection to all things media - JettL.
-
people wont care how well it fits into the Iron man/Hulk/Cpt.America/Avengers universe. so good luck to Thor, I say... so far it's sounding good.
-
It's also a retarded typo spelling of DeNiro. Damn this circa 1997 forum's lack of editing.
-
who they play! They could play Thors drinking buddies for all I care, I'm just glad they are in it!
-
DeNiro is Hogun, Law is Fandrall.

Hmmm. Branagh is doing well so far.
by isleptwithkathybatesandallthatigotwasthi
Let's hope he pulls this fucker off.
-
in awhile.
-
And he's the sort of actor who can do almost anything, so why not? I'm skeptical though. I mean, getting those two? That's pretty high caliber casting.
-
…what?!
-
Schweighöfer is Fandrall and Law is playing Balder.
-
He's redeeming himself. Good for him! Stardust was a good move!
-
from syfy starring the oldest kid on home improvement as thor?
-
I'm guessing DeNiro for Odin and Law for Loki (not bad choices - though I'd rather see Ray Winstone as Odin). Again, if it is true (and it sounds like bs) it would be because the studio is getting nervous over all of the negative hype - and there has been plenty.
-
Thor, earths major reps in the story.
-
I'm betting with Darqueguy. The first thing I thought of when I read this was Deniro as Hogun and Law as Fandral.
-
now they are adapting the Led Zepplin book? kidding. they are on the way to making this movie impossible to make a profit on just on actors salaries.
-
witty comment follows. audience cheers, and immediately starts txt msging idiot friends in theater.
-
Then Thor punches him through a wall.
-
That should be the poster.
-
Worst. Movie. Ever. The Blair Witch was better, and it was crap.
-
Fucking excellent word.
-
Because DeNiro worked with Branagh on Frankenstein and Law worked with him on Sleuth, that's why.
-

I did a rewrite for part of the script, my professional opinion
by jettl93
Deniro is odin and Law is playing BalderI met both Deniro and Brannaugh when i was part of the makeup team that designed the creture suit for Frankenstein, the two of them work great together, it's a no brainer that Kenneth chose Robert to play the odin role. Haven't met Law before but the character of Balder will suit him very well, especially if they use my script treatment
-
I fucking hope you didn't do a rewrite on the script if it's anything like your talkback post. Christ.
-
jude law as donald blake?
-
Complete with disco lightning behind his head!
-
Great actor in contemporary roles, especially playing characters with dark shades to them. Probably the best actor of those roles since Brando. But just horrendous in anything else: nice guys, period movies, ordinary guys. That's why he only does parodies of his old good roles now: ANALYZE THIS, MEET THE FOCKERS, etc.
-
Don't forget the time you were inside the Alien suit having a cup of tea with Ridley while you were helping Cameron polish the script for Rambo.
-
Who else but an full blooded Italian could play the Norweigien Pagan God?
-
but I do know that a friend of mine was up for a role as one of a (what he described to me) ensemble of good guys. Pretty important to the story. He's 6'2" and half Asian. The part ended up going to someone from Hong Kong. A martial arts pseudo star. No name or anything, but thought it might just be another clue into what casting decisions are going on.
-
Here we go. So the subplot that will be hinting through IM2, Thor, Capt. America leading into the Avengers movie is that Top Secret Info has been stolen all over the world about the planet's defense, and will be revealed to be the start of a Skrull invasion ! So, The Avengers going against the Skrull to show why they are Earth's Mightest Heroes. In IM2 it will be revealed that the Ten Rings is a front to spread out the top countries armys so they are in a neverending war, im guessing by doing that they will be spreading armys all around to different wars going on so it will be easier for the Skrull to invade. That's all I have for the Avengers info. Now, Spider-Man 4 will have Kraven in it, and the person that will be playing that role is CLIVE OWEN!! Until next time!
-
I forget their names, it's been a long time since I've read comics. But weren't there three guys that drank beer with Thor? One guy was a swashbuckler type, one was a fatty, and one had dark hair. The last one could be DeNire.
I thought Brian Blessed would be Odin. -

I love how you simply take the news the talkback is about and turn it into a some name dropping story, with absolutely no new information other than your supposed job on the project, and act like we should all drop to the floor in amazement. Shit, can't believe I just acknowledged you.
-
hmmm
-
DeNiro was GREAT in THE UNTOUCHABLES which was a period film and in THE GODFATHER PART 2 which was a period filmand he was great in STARDUST which wasn't a modern role by any stretch of the imagination
-
...Brian Blessed has already been cast as Odin. This news seems somewhat plausible because Jude Law and Robert DeNiro have both worked for Branagh before (DeNiro in Frankenstein, Jude Law in Sleuth); however, I'm still skeptical until I hear confirmation. Still, this would be cool news indeed. Forsooth!
-
take it to the bank

Then you're a fucking pathetic liar. If you were legit you'd be the sources and wouldn't have to resort to chiming in here. Nobody is impressed with your "job" as no one believes a goddamn word you say. So please go fuck yourself gently and lovingly with the dildo knife from Se7en

Nobody call ever tell me he wouldn't make a better Thor than JJ's errr... Miley's brother in Law.

I should've asked him about it.

Because a Viking afterlife based on quantum physics (which of course none of the Gods understands) would be much cooler. Check out A.A. Attanasio's 'The Dragon and the Unicorn' to see how this works.

have even less screen-time! Yup, its another Blade 3 where the titled character is pushed aside for no damn reason!

Hasn't it already been made pretty clear that they are going to stick pretty much to Thor's own environment for this film?
I'd imagine the link to our "reality" will be fairly late in the film and probably not via quantum physics. Interesting as that would be. -
Can't wait to see the Warriors Three
-
...gonna be a reporter,DeNiro an authourty figure

I could see Jude Law in that role. As for Bobby D. I hope he plays a NYC human cop or something and not an Asgardian.

DeNiro is Odin

Yes Loki has already been cast
by isleptwithkathybatesandallthatigotwasthi
-
Based on his work in "the Talented Mr. Ripley," Law could easily pull off Loki. Of coures, he'd be much better as Dr. Blake (a role that isn't available, right?). Deniro would make a fine Odin as well, when you look at his impressive weight gain in "Untouchables" and his riveting father-figure in "Sleepers." Since that part also isn't available, I can only wonder what role he'd play. Surtur or the Frost Giant, perhaps? Who knows... maybe these guys have parts as Marvel characters that exist beyond the Thor cannon, such as a pair of 2nd-tier Avengers?
-
JettL owns you
-
I cant stand Jude Law he so smug i don't want him in one of my beloved superhero movies.
-
Harry as Volstagg
-

How about DeNiro as the Hammer and Jude as the wooden stick ?
by badcandlejack
and Harry Knowles can play Jabba the hut
-
THE LADY SIF. She'd be perfect.
-
...not to get all Comic Book Guy, but if you're so interested in thsi project, could you at least do a cursory glance of IMDb before predicting who's playing what? Odin, Loki, and Sif have all been cast; DeNiro, Law (and Kate Beckinsale, wtf) aren't playing any of them.
-
You know that would be Earth-shattering.
-
And I'd like to go on record as being the only person that preferred that remake to the remake of Dracula which came out around the same time.
-
It's only assumed those roles have been filled. I have first hand knowledge of whats going on, your just a boy on the internet
-
They should do it like the Ultimate book, where he says he's a god and they mostly just humor him because he's a giant Nordic guy with a big scary shithammer. Of course, we'll be in on the joke, as we'd have already seen Thor in Asgard with DeNiro or whatever in the invariably embarrassing Branagh film.
-
"Downtown to CHINATOWN."
"You a pothead, Dr. Blake?" -
Which is nice, because there aren't enough of those yet. Now kindly disintegrate.
-
DeNiro — Hogun the Grimm
Law — Fandral the Flamboyant
And I would get Olver Platt to play Volstagg -
DeNiro- "I bet you do, Panama Red!"
-
Fucking great movie!
-
he practiced for that part in Branagh's Frankenstein. Stellan Skarsgard is already cast as Odin
-
If it doesn't, it could be as bad as Wild Wild West, and at least most people blame smith/sonnenfeld for that pos, this time the blame will be on him, and he'll go down like his similar namesake kb toys
-
I'm Kenneth Branagh's agent and I assure you Robert and Jude are not in the movie. We talked about it over tea and crumpets and they passed on the deal, they'll be making Heat 2: Neil's Resurrection instead, that will be directed by Brett Ratner.
-
that I'm not Kenneth Branagh
-
Ooh, sick burn! How does it feel to know that, even if that WERE true, people still think you're the bigger douche? In either case, Jaime Alexander and Tom Hiddleston have been confirmed for their roles (and have even given interviews concerning them) for quite some time; although you're right, Brian Blessed is not officially cast as Odin. But here's hoping "Ken" uses your "treatment"!
-
I'll go see this movie. I just sort of have to.
-
Oct 17, 2009 9:16:14 PM CDT
Would have been better if they'd gotten a star for Thor himself.
by juansanchez
Instead of filling up random supporting roles with them.
-
The movie needed some credible star power. Without them, it seemed like a cheap super hero movie.
-
Enfaces on the "crap"
-
I swear, there's news on Green Lantern, Thor, and some even on Spider-Man 4 but NOTHING ON CAPTAIN AMERICA.
-
I don't get why everyone thinks that. I say Stellan Skarsgaard is Odin, and DeNiro plays a different norse god. They use more than just Loki, Thor and Odin in the comics, fer cryin out loud.

DENIRO AS THE EX-CIA AGENT FATHER OF THE CHICK THOR LOVES
by bringingsexyback
Perfect!!!
-
maybe a decade or more
He's the male Meryl Streep
In every damn movie from the mid 70's thru the 90's
Most seem to be variations of the same thug over and over -
first it was going to be an Asgard story
Now it's a jane foster , donald blake story with some thor and Asgard thrown in -
or Russell Crowe
-
maybe...or Deniro=Balder, Law=Heimdall
-
That would be gnarly. I'd love to see a quinjet dumping The Hulk onto a hovering Skrull ship so he can rip it's metal dicks off. If they were to make such a dope movie, they'd better do cameos. I want to see fucking Goliath, Stingray flying around, Eros seducing Skrulls, etc.
-
+ Miller Lite = Aicn tb.
-
This is shaping up to be the ultimate superhero flick. I could see De Niro in an important but small role like Brando in Superman. Can't Loki change the way he looks? I can totally see him morphing from whoever the nobody they're using into Jude Law.
-
Connect the dots, people.
-
DeNiro's the male Meryl Streep. Streep is the best American actress alive right now, so that is no an insult. She was awesome in Doubt and that was recent. But, I agree that DeNiro hasn't done shit in years.
-
Now some prick can say "No cheyne, 'Meet the Parents' sucked." Fuck you beforehand.
-
And Jude Law will make a good Beta Ray Bill but he was not my first choice.

I Don't Mean To Be A Troll But, See Observe And Report!!!
by media messiah
This movie version of Thor seems to be shaping-up well...but, I had to stop by and tell you all about another film. Hope you don't mind.I just saw the movie Observe and Report; it is sort of like the Hard R version of Mall Cop...well, it is, actually that. Both films are funny, but Mall Cop is a family film, and Observe and Report is extreme adult humor, twisted, and highly subversive. I was surprised about how good it is? I take that back--I was surprised about how great it is, but you have to have a twisted sense of humor to enjoy it. It really is one of the funniest movies that I have ever seen--and one of the best films that I have seen in years!!! It is like an art house film, meets student film, meets Animal House, The Hang-over, and Walk Hard. Note To Seth Rogen: I gave you beef about this movie when it was first released, as I just thought that it would fall down as a flat rip-off of Mall Cop, but this is actually a great film, far better than Mall Cop--and a film that never pulls its punches. Walk Hard, and 40 Year Old Virgin are truly great comedies, but this tops them both!!! Congratulations Rogen--I loved you in Virgin, but I haven't been a fan since. Observe and Report has changed that. May Green Hornet be as brilliant!!!
-
He smokes bud in everything. I wouldn't be suprised if he smoked in that Green Hornet flick. Lol.
-
...Observe and Report is the best movie of all time!!!!
-
Rogen's character could be the son of Robert DeNiro's character from Taxi Driver. I know it sounds strange, but the odd mix works. This guy is a sociopath ready to explode. He is a social misfit looking to purpose, that is the hidden the darker side of the film, and there is actually a beauty in that. Observe and Report is a dark comedy, where a nut job--may just have a real hero's heart, if he doesn't go postal on everyone before finding his way.

Cheyne_Stoking_DMS: I Don't Want To Spoil It For You, But...
by media messiah
...this film is a stoner's paradise. If I say any more, it will ruin half of the fun for you--and I'm not kidding!!! Look for the skateboard sequence, just after Rogen has accepted the sage like advice of his now life coach, and guru, best friend--a fellow security guard. What they do in response to the skateboarders--is a classic scene, all thanks to...(spoiler). Rent this movie immediately, and call-up all of your family members and friends (those who can take non PC humor) to watch it with you. Everyone will be blown-away!!!
-
It just might be!!!
-
I wrote a treatment for observe and report and was happily surprised at how much of my stuff they kept.
And about this Thor flick, I live next door to K Bran and have it on rock-solid authority that in Valhalla all the characters will be cast as-advertised, but when Thor gets to Midgard (Earth) - he'll be black. Not a joke - this is the straight poop. -
This Robert Fucking DeNiro! Dude can play a anything! I will knock you the fuck out! I could also see Christopher Walken as the Hammer.
-
But in his treatment, it was an all-asian review. Not sure what that was about.
-
Oh snap!
-
And yes, it will be Fabulous.
-
That shit was funny! And that beer was expensive too!
-
...he DOES take a lot of clonozepam. He parties like that every 4-6 hours!
-
just a little bit-eth.
-
on the rainbow bridge. It has been awhile, but that still makes me laugh. How awesome would it be if Branagh totally played to the gay angle and made this thing look like a norse cirque de soleil. Thor - The Musical!
-
How can there really be no solid rumors on Cap casting? I don't get it. I'm betting they have it cast and they are going to shoot for some sort of cameo in IM2 - so how is it no one has any idea who it is?
-
Where's the Captain America casting news?
-
Seems like this is brand new 16 minute footage not seen anywhere yet. Anyone catching this one?
-
The last time De Niro and Branagh got together the results were pretty mixed.
-
If he has, he has a awful ratio of good to bad movies. Closer was a joke, Alfie was a freakin boring lame piece of shit, never saw all the kings men but apparently I shouldn't, and the holiday is one of the worst movies I've ever had the displeasure of watching.
-
Hope to be proved wrong, but whatever our fears are about Branaugh pulling this off are, think it will come down to Hemsworth and his lack of acting ability.
Assuming there is a decent script he will be significantly overshadowed by some of the quality actors, think Hayden Christensen in the prequels.
Then this kid will be in Avengers alongside Norton and RDJ. -
Oct 18, 2009 4:00:06 AM CDT
If Law is going to be in a comic, then he should be Zod.
by dailysportspages
He would make a pretty good Zod.
-
Well they already got most of the cast:
Tom Hiddleston Cast As Loki
Natalie Portman As Jane Foster
Chris Hemsworth As Thor ( He was captain Kirk father in the new star trek movie )
Stellan Skarsgård As Odin
Jaimie Alexander As Sif
If i had to guess they are Fandral and Hogun of The Warriors Three or If they changed the cast then Loki and Odin. -
"LAW. IS. THOR!"
Gotta give voice-over man good material to work with. -
Please don't let them use any material JettL93 wrote for this film, if anything assuming he's not a you-damned liar, because I fear then it would suck a lot more then I ever thought it would and i certainly don't want any talent involved wasted on horrible writing. In return I wont say a single curse word or make a sexual reference in a TalkBack for a whole year. Amen.
-
De Niro as Frankensteins monster who gets thawed out of the ice by the Midgard Serpent (voiced by Richard Briars) to double team against our hero. This thing practically writes itself...
-
Worst. Casting. Ever! hahahahahahahha!!!
Seriously, De Niro has Odin?! that would be like Hoffman playing Superman. Just messed up casting.
ONLY TWO MAN ON THIS PLANET COULD PULL OFF PLAYING ODIN! ONE IS TERENCE STAMP ON LSD!! AND THE OTHER IS..... ARNIE IN A BEARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Tom Baker has Odin!! Think about it....
-
and as correctly Harry said, his casting is not that surprising. Now who is going to do? odin or one Thor's three friends? or Locki? or the mafioso villain who allies himself with Loki? hm?
-
-Get this through your head you Norwegian motherfucker, you! You only exist out here because of me! That's the only reason! Without *me*, you, personally, every fuckin' wise guy skell around'll take a piece of your fuckin' Norwegian ass! Then where you gonna go? You're fuckin' warned! Don't ever go over my fuckin' head again! You motherfucker, you.
-
this film seems to get more interesting by the day. Shame that DC doesn't have all their big characters on the way to the silver screen. Marvel does it exactly right I have sadly to admit.
Still... DC for the win! -

Vic Twenty: You Wrote A Treatment For Observe And Report?
by media messiah
Congratulations!!! You had a major hand in writing a modern classic. This is a truly special film. I watched it with my brother and my mom, and we all couldn't stop laughing. The film is intelligent, and it has layers of deep psychological inspection of the human mind, while managing to stay on course as a first class comedy, and a dark comedy, at that. I have never seen a dark comedy that really had a heart to it, and a reason to be beyond its sense of irony, however, this one does. Walk Hard is a truly, truly, a great film...and in a way is a kindred spirit to your work--which is...Observe and Report, but you, and your collaborators, managed to even surpass Walk Hard--something that is a Herculean task indeed--but you certainly managed to do it. Again, congratualtions. You have a great, and very successful, writing career ahead of you!!!PS: Don't thank me for my words--as you more than deserved those words of congratulations!!!
-
...the rumor about Al Pacino playing Blofeld in 007:QOS: Totally gugus!

Congratulations!!! You had a major hand in writing a modern film classic. Yes, this is a truly special film. I watched it with my brother and my mom, and we all couldn't stop laughing. The film is intelligent, and it has layers of deep psychological inspection, and introspection, of the human mind, while managing to stay on course as a first class comedy, and a dark comedy, at that. I have never seen a dark comedy that really had a heart to it, and a reason to be, beyond its own sense of self mocking irony, however, this one does just that. I mentioned two recent comedies in reference to your film; Walk Hard...and The Hangover. Walk Hard is a truly, truly, great film, and to some respect, The Hangover--and in that way, they are kindred...in spirit, to your work--which is, Observe and Report. You, and your collaborators, however, managed to surpass Walk Hard and The Hangover--something that is a Herculean task, especially in respect to the fore of the two films. Again, congratulations. You have a great, and very successful, writing career ahead of you!!!
PS: Don't thank me for my words, as you more than deserved those, and these, words of congratulations!!! -

-
It's that guy from Sliders. IMDB. Such a great place to get ifno. Also found out he's still alive.
-
You're in need of a lil revival. http://sickpicks.blogspot.com/
-
That movie is underrated I hate you all you judge it unfairly.
-
that a movie like Thor wont only revive his dead career, but it will also give him one more first actor oscar, after all these years.
-
Naturally.
-
...how will this unicorn & fairie world mesh with Tony Stark's ultra-realistic tech world in the Avengers? It'll be gosh darn near impossible. Oh wait, no it won't.
-
It's Branagh - so it's going to be an overblown, big budget, DISASTER!!
-
Harry's largess for Volstagg dubbed by some shakesperian actor
-
He didn't even write a treatment. He was riffing off JettL's shtick and the current prevailing talkbacks joke where we all pretend to have had a hand in shaping a major motion picture. Observe and Report was not a studio picture but the work of an auteur. It was written and directed by North Carolina's Jody Hill.

i cant understand why people bash this movie.and the other movie with the scissors murders.
-
i have good hopes for this movie.

Man I can not believe those assholes in Hollywood have decided to make a movie about the coolest comic book hero of all : The Incredible THOR! YES! I must be the biggest Thor nut-job in the world - I am so glad they sat down - had talks - thought about it - decided who would write - who would direct - and who would make the songs for the cd. I have a few worries for this film though - my brother worked in the uk for a while and he said lots of them uk guys are gays - I understand Kenneth Barrigan in a UK man - you see why I am worried. Last time we let a gay uk man make a superhero film we end up with : Batman Begins! Hopefully he is not a gay uk man. Anyway - hope this film rocks!
-
get a life or a girlfriend amigo.trolling is not a good substistute for your empty life.
-
Miguel 'the biggest Thor nut-job' = gay man.
As gay, if not gayer, than Kenneth Barrigan.
Note: Kenneth Branagh is happily married with his second wife. He has also had the pleasure of fucking Helena Bonham Carter senseless. Not gay. -
Where's the justice, I asks ya?
-
His first wife. Pretty good for a "gay" man.
-
I bet i am a bigger fan of Thor than you:P
As for Deniro i hope he isn't playing any part of Norse character especially Odin, he just doens't have the chops, As for Brian Blessed i doubt he is Odin too because his name isn't even under casting for rumored on IMDB, I could see Jude as either Fandral or Blake, Deniro as a cop:P -
Jude Law will be the Zaniac.
-
The film is pretty special, whomever wrote it. It really blew me away...and I feel lucky to have seen it. I recommend it to anyone who really loves movies. BTW, I'm interested in learning if you have seen the film, and what you think of it?
-
that I hope is re-issued in UnCut form ala Coppola's DRACULA now on DVD again. Coppola produced the Branagh-directed Shelly story, but it suffered the editors knife and more.

I know!

Warriors Three seems to fit, though I can't quite see DeNiro pulling off Hogun physically. An actor with a little more stature would be needed. I also thought I read that Hogun's part would essentially be speechless which if true would rule out DeNiro as Hogun.
Fandrall was my first thought when hearing Law's casting. And the more I think of it, Blessed makes sense as Volstagg.
Skarsgard as Odin leaves a huge question mark concerning the non-hire of his son. The dynamic between the two would be substantial...But it's acting so...
For me, I'm not sure how James Purefoy wasnt cast as Loki.Even after watching the Solomon Kane trailer, I can't help but think that not casting him in favour of Hiddleston will be a potential mistake. Purefoy brings menace.
and he has the ready-made likeness, unlike Hiddleston who seems much less Loki-like.

I saw Observe and Report in the theater, i enjoyed it quite a bit, definitely not a movie for the masses.:P
-
I always seem to get that bit mixed up. But Black Thor is all true!!
-
It has come the time for the man who acted in Godfather 2 and Taxi Driver to say "Fuck it. I will pass on Edge of Darkness and will star in this Disney/Marvel extravaganza called Thor." - he has finally crossed that VERY thin line between actor and idiot.

I assumed they were giving honest reviews, however, after seeing it on DVD, I can clearly say that the critics were issuing PC laced reviews, having nothing to do with the truth. One, Nikki Finke, if I recall correctly, even called the Ana Farris/Rogen sex scene, a date rape scene, and it was anything but that? You'll also recall Finke, just about two weeks ago was circulating a petition to save Roman Polanski who date raped a child and filled plied her with alcohol and drugs? How quickly we change positions Nikki when we become self-serving to save our friends? Roman Polanski is a convicted...and admtted, child molester and a rapist, BTW, who showed "consciousness of guilt" by fleeing sentencing. A child can't give consent legally, nor did she ever try to. Spoiler Alert: As for Rogen and Farris' characters, both were high in the scene, but there was no hint of deception on Rogen's character's part, or naivete on the part of Farris' character--before, or after--and or, the sense that she, his date, was a victim. These were just two adults, who drank too much, and used too many drugs, on a date--like a good portion of our populace. I think it is the fact that this film exposed things like this...that made the critics uncomfortable with the truth; the very people who act like they are above the fray, but drink, and do too many drugs, and have an over abundance of sex--when nobody is looking--you know--people like David Letterman. Although he is not a critic, and I love the guy, you see the parallels to hypocrites in the media. And of course, there is Jimmy Kimmel. Again, somebody I love, but previous to these two mens' sexual relations with staff being outed, you'd think these two were choir boys. My point is, it is the same elite crowd that the other members of the media come from--and as for Letterman and Kimmel; Letterman being a former weather man, and Kimmel a former PD at KROQ in L.A. All I am saying is, most everyone in life is doing something others would object to, so why be a hypocrite about it, like the critics have been regarding this movie, and the truths that it tells about the seamier side of life? I think one of the most honest things that I have ever heard spoken in a movie, was when one of the film's characters said (and I am paraphrasing): "This life appears to be about nothing, and how sad that is, knowing this--so you might as well get what you want out of life"--ala serving your own personal needs, fuck everybody else. That type of view, being openly spoken, is the reason why Observe and Report was given bad, but very false reviews--because the truth...hurts.

Deniro was spectacular in that role. Fuck you haters:)
-
Michael_Jackson's_Ghost, where have you heard that the Skrulls are the villains in The Avengers and Kraven will be in Spider-Man 4 played by Clive Owen? Is the Lizard in it too? Thanks
-
Looks the part.
-
...is another(in addition to FRANKENSTEIN) "against type" DeNiro role that could have influenced this choice.

Why do people assume that an AVENGER script even exists?
by the green gargantua

Deniro will be playing the role of Pesci who will be playing the role of Loki. It'll be his biggest role yet, playing another actor that's playing the role of Loki. He's got to be the perfect balance of Pesci and Pesci-pretending-to-be-Loki.
-
But Jeremy Irons can boast a good movie in his recent CV, Appaloosa. Can DeNiro claim the same? And the movie he directed doesn't count.
-
Jude Law is Fandral or Balder the Brave.
-
I REALLY don't know about this. I really don't know.
-
De Niro and Law are Immortus and Kang. Yeah, I know, it will never happen but... How awesome would that be?
-
Have you people seen Mary Shelly's Frankenstein?!? DeNiro was cast in that too. Watch it. Kenneth Branagh is awful. Period. He has a great eye for casting but his style sucks. Although perhaps his operatic giant spectacle fueled shit is what Thor needs. But i don't think so. I am so genuinely worried about this. I had no idea he was doing it, and I'm nothing but disappointed.

...to direct this Thor flick. Give it the big plush look of Bram Stoker's Dracula along with hiring some great 2nd unit guys to shoot the action, and whammo! You have a Thor flick.
-
Stellan Skarsgaard is. No clue who Robby is playing but he is most certainly not Odin.
