* So tight is the race at 9 p.m. Wednesday that “Modern Family” was able to go from third place in 18-49 last week to a tie with “Criminal Minds” for first place this week. (Though, in terms of total viewers, “Minds” still gets 44% more.)

* Formerly mighty “SVU,” still in fourth place at 9 p.m., hit its best number of the season. Lead-in "Mercy" grew also.

* Every Wednesday show on CBS rose over last week.

* “The Middle,” which along with “Modern” and “Cougar” got an episode order last week that will carry it to season’s end, is getting clobbered by “Gary Unmarried” and has fallen behind “Mercy” in total viewers.

* “Hank,” the only Wednesday-night ABC sitcom that continues without a full first-season order (“Scrubs” and “Better Off Ted” are both expected back at midseason), remains solidly in fourth place behind a resurgent “Old Christine.”

* Still-sliding “Eastwick,” which also competes without a full-season order, is now tied with the bottom-dwelling “Leno” in 18-49, and at 10 p.m. sits solidly in last place in terms of total viewers.

It's the last chance for advertisers to shape what you do on the weekend, especially what movie you see.

... with VERY steady ratings and not a mention from Herc about one of the best shows of the season. No love for Glee???

    Feeling thankful for Hulu

    by drewlicious

I don't have DVR so I just have a VCR and I end up taping Glee. I got a huge kick out of Modern Family and they kind of conflict. Enter Hulu. By the way, why is there no Glee talkback? Jane Lynch gets some of the best one-liners of the week.

    Scrubs shouldn't be back

    by estacado1

It had a timely death. Having said that, I would still watch when it returns. Of all the cast on the show, the only one that found a new tv job was the Janitor. The rest of the cast need to eat too. I wonder if any of them would return.

SVU should do a Leno "torn from the headlines" episode

    by rob0729

The plot of the episode could be how Leno raped SVU's ratings by moving them from Tuesdays at 10 where they owned the hour to a more competitive Wednesday at 9PM where they have fallen to fourth.

Jane Lynch is the reason I watch Glee and risk the reputation to my manhood. The woman deserves her own series. Everything she does is hilarious. Finally an episode where they display her comic talents in full force.

Even if you hate Two and a Half Men, her episodes where she plays the psychiatrist are comedy gold.

that whole Sue's Journal thing from last week was goddamn hilarious. She was in form again last night calling out the minorities.

Not as big a fan of the big overproduced numbers, but apparently they have to keep doing them in order to sell songs on itunes (which is apparently getting the show by, hard to believe based off these ratings).

    by big jim

I'll watch it when it returns but felt last year's finale made for a great series finale.I'm liking Eastwick more and more as each week goes by. So I expect to hear of its cancellation any day now.Glee is a great feel-good show. Doesn't fully fill that void left by Pushing Daisies demise but I don't know what will (the Kristin Chenoweth guest appearance on Glee came pretty close). Sue's lines make me think that's what Michael Scott would be like if he was better educated and evil.

Hank Awful? Cougar Town should be canceled?

    by jayemel

What? Do sitcoms have to be edgy and "socially conscious" to be "good" now-a-days? Hank is the story of the American businessman trying to re-integrate into a society that no longer embraces him. It's not complex, but it doesn't pretend to be.

    Also, Cougar Town is hilarious:
"I can't believe I was married to a guy who keeps his license in a box."
    "A box marked important."

Wednesday has NO shows I watch.

    by nrn

They really need to do some schedule shuffling, because Friday and Thursdays are where all the good TV is at... Thursdays: Supernatural, Flashfoward, Fringe, The Vampire Diaries (yes I've actually been digging it), and Bones. Friday has Smallville, Monk, Psych, Dollhouse, and Medium. Tuesday has nada cept 90210 which Im forced to watch, same with Weds. They need to do some schedule switching

I can't bring myself to watch Grammar for one minute more the rest of my life so I haven't seen Hank. The Good Wife is pretty compelling, Cougar Town and Modern Family are both really funny too. And Tuesday nights are happy for me because of Sons of Anarchy.

    I liked Gleee!

    by buffywrestling

when it first started. I kinda thought it was gonna be a bit "edgy" & the chosen songs would be relative to the storylines. That is not the case. It's being bogged down by cliche quad-durple love triangles & pregnacies that have random interjected song numbers. I'd like to see the high school kids acting more like high school kids & having subtexty comparble problems to the adults, not the *exact* same problems.

Also have a problem with the dubbing. Dr. Horrible was made for .75 and it has better syncing musical numbers. It's like Ashley Simpson, fer feck's sake. There is some snappy dialogue & good acting but it kinda gets overwhelmed by the tardiness sometimes.

    by cooper2000

It's a decent show with a good cast. Much better than crap like Heroes.
