Herc’s Seen Tonight’s Armisen-Enhanced PARKS AND REC And The Season Debut Of 30 ROCK!! Plus OFFICE Wedding Outtakes!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
“Parks and Recreation” continues a strong streak of episodes tonight with an installment titled “Sister City.”
Equipped with a Marx Bros.-ish premise, it centers on a visit by representatives of the parks department of Boraqua, Venezuela, sister city of Pawnee.
The oil-rich Boraqua delegation is disappointed to learn that government-funded prostitutes will not be a component of their visit to Pawnee, and they endlessly disparage the shoddy state of the town generally.
“Look, this is nothing personal,” one of the visitors confides. “We just think that you are weak and your city is disgusting.”
Later tonight “30 Rock” gets off to a surprisingly flat start with a Tina Fey-scripted season premiere that has Jack ordering Liz to find a new cast member – a cast member that rural viewers can relate to. They don’t actually find one, and Steve Buscemi is wasted as an oily, wildly unconvincing mole, but the end of the episode is worth catching for Jenna’s red-state-friendly tennis commercial and a Fey-Baldwin segue to “The Jay Leno Show.”
Deleted scenes from “Niagara,” last week’s wedding-centric episode of “The Office”:
“Parks And Recreation”: 8:30 p.m. Thursday. NBC.
“The Office”: 9 p.m. Thursday. NBC.
“30 Rock”: 9:30 p.m. Thursday. NBC.

Saw first episode and didn't like it. So people think it's gotten better?
-
Also, more red state jokes. Love that 30 Rock is staying so current and original. (And yet I still think 30 Rock is hilarious)
-
It's off to a great start, and is funnier than "Parks and Recreation"...at least mention that it's on at 8pm...
-
compared to seasons 1 and 2. I remember liking the first episode and then after that it went flat.
-
Lifetime or SyFy, that is the question...
-
Gave Community a rave review, called it the best show of the season and I definitely agree. If NBC doesn't screw it up, this is their next big comedy to take over when the office fades. Here it is: http://tinyurl.com/ygq63b9
-
community, park, office then 30 rock, perfect 2 houirs of comedy blissEven better would be too axe leno and give us a 60 minute weekend update at 10
-
I still haven't exactly warmed to the series just yet. It is now watchable and occassionally really funny, but I still think it is the weakest link of the NBC's Thursday comedy block.
-
Is the only reason to keep on watching P&R in my opinion. She's apathetically awesome...
-
To put it in his terms, "wow".
-
A nation sighs.
-
or am i really stoned and its still wednesday?
-
Is Survivor on tonight?
-
Cable news talking heads may now return to their regularly scheduled non-news until more non-news like this happens. Thank you for your time.
-
I love her on Parks and Rec as well. She is super cute Alison Brie on Community is really cute as well.
-
Yeah, I said it. Community exposed the disbelief that anything on The Office would ever happen in real life. Cannot wait for 30 Rock. Community is NOT better than 30 Rock. Parks/Recs = Train Wreck.
-
The first season was promising and petered out midway through season 2. The fork should've been stuck in it before it was renewed for a third. All of Fey's overrated Palin impressions and hype has kept it on way too long.
-
Last week's episode was brilliant. Wasn't expecting something this good to be greenlit from the braintrust that decided to move Leno into primetime.
-
the Abed/Troy stuff is funny too.
-
Community... Very well written show that has ALOT of promise. I went to community college I think they caught the spirit
Parks... The second season is a lot better than number 1.
Office... Should I say "I see a fin in the water?" This season has not been good at all, except the wedding. Hopefully now that they got that out of the way, it will go back to the greatness it once had.
30 rock... I can't wait for this. Funny show with great performances. -
I would watch it
-
it should be even better season 2 like parks when they tweak some stuff.
-
Infact every episode has been...not sure why it's become the internt fan boy whipping boy
-
another very weak episode tonight, take away the wedding and it's been a terrible season.
-
The Office has really turned Pam into a bitch this season.
-
Just really heavy handed cheesy and low class, but Leno tripping and almost falling came close to making up for it.
-
Yeah, they've kinda written Pam's character differently starting with Season 4. A lot more sarcastic.
-
I used to like her, but every since she married Vance, she has adopted this kind of arrogance.
-
After last weeks episode which i feel was the best episode the series has done so far, tonight was just kind of meh...some funny stuff but the micheal plot should have been the B plot and the kevin raiding jim's office should have been the A plot (he could have done worse damage then just cancelling a credit card)best joke of the episode "At first I snuck into jim's office just to Fart, but then one day i decided to stay"
-
and his family have been on WifeSwap TWICE I recognized them as soon as I saw an interview with them. They are like some weird hippy dippy UFO believing gonzo family whose two apperances on WifeSwap have been insanely entertaining
-
that was a great joke and yeah Kevin and Oscar trying to fix Kevin's mess with Jim's CC should have been the A story because it is a much more...feasible storyline then Andy and Dwight and Micheal vs the Mob

The character just feels like such a cliche, I'm warming up to the show, but not her character so much. I really wish they wouldn't have gone the mock-doc angle with thus shoe though, it's not as natural as the Office and there's just too many times where the joke is artificial because they had to develop too much artifice to make it play as a documentary. Or maybe I just houldbt think about it as much. Community is rockin though, every week has something that just sends me off laughing ("this is now way to teach accounting!" "will they do stuff to my butt?...Will I get more if I let them do stuff to me butt?...That's fine I'll do it."). And I can't wait for 30 Rock.

From Daily Variety, 3 minutes ago:
Lynch rides "Balloon" for Universal
Eric Lynch, also known to Howard Stern fans as "Eric the Midget," has signed into Universal Pictures' film "Balloon Boy."
Based on real event, Eric the Midget will play a 6 year old boy from Colorado who flies with balloons, and is accidentally mistaken for floating 50 miles in the air.
-
I actually laughed out loud at Community last week. This week was ok. But Parks and Recreation came back strong tonight. Last week not so much.
-
he wrote down what the episode was about... anybody can look that up u didnt even say if parks was any good or funny.. you just said it was marxish
-
Dude, its like two days away from the premiere, will we get the Q&A soon?
-
The pool trial was great, and the fast paced dialogue is almost as smart as 30 Rock...bravo for Community
-
Check the Nielsen ratings; a half-crowded elevator sustains better numbers than this lame sitcom. And check the feedback on this thread; zip. Furthermore, Tina Fey has all the sex appeal of Larry Fine.
-
Hey, wow, this show is innovative. They talk to the camera every 10 min. Wow, that's great. Let's do three more just like it! Brilliant!!
-
because ABC isn't doing the exact same thing with Modern FamilyNBC has two shows that do it THE OFFICE and PARKS AND RECREATION (both from the same guy)...ABC has one from a totally different team

they're adults (the same ones who likely presumed that Jay Ward cartoons--e.g. BULLWINKLE--were Saturday morning filler). Nope. 30 ROCK is a vanity show that has already sunk. NBC tried to shove Tina Fey up the media's ass--but the public isn't buying it, the press coverage has eroded. Insert an abridged cut of ABBOTT AND COSTELLO IN THE FOREIGN LEGION, withing the same time slot, and the ratings will improve. But nobody cares about a sitcom that pairs an average-looking "Jane" (whose political rants have been immutably predictable, hence unfunny) with an abusive father. Wow, can't miss, huh? Tracy Morgan always appeared to be searching for his lines (his timing is zippo, no exposition); and his recent rant anout about former SNL castmates is juvenile (um, Tracy, you need the work more than they do--how does the Sci-Fi Channel reimburse you for hosting their puppet show ("Scare Tactics")? Maybe with six-packs? Just curious.
-
Do you watch the show thegreatwhatzit? How does anyone watching any TV releate to people thinking they are adults? So I would I be an adult if I watched...HBO tv? Or C-Span? Phineas and Ferb?
-
Comedy in TV is the fucking best right now. Lets face it we all got different taste, some people even like Two and A Half Men (though I've never met you). And comedy in TV is probably the best its ever been since maybe before I was born. But there are three networks spewing out great comedy, Fox - Fam Guy/American Dad/Simpsons are all decent (hate it if you will they work for those who like it). ABC - Modern Family, Cougar Club and Gary Unmarried (and maybe the middle haven't seen it?) NBC - 30 Rock, The Office, Parks and Rec and Community Cable - South Park, Sunny, Nip/Tuck. While HBO has nothing right now (bored to death is too much like the title). CBS has HIMYM which is a show, and when it brings back Rules of Engagement (if it does?) then it can come join the comedy party. But I mean come on! When have we had this many GREAT for some, decent (even if you don't like some shows they are fucking half way decent) which is better then just complete shit with nothing good on.
-
It had the best episode last night, followed (surprisingly) by Parks and Rec, then 30 Rock. The Office was okay, but extremely bland. Though the more Ed Helms per episode, the better.
Probably my favorite Community joke from last night was the shout-out to Fawlty Towers being one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. And John Oliver needs to become a regular, he's probably my second favorite character (behind Abed, whose attempts to trick Troy last night were actually taken in a less obvious direction than these kinds of plots usually are). -
Everything just felt off about the episode. And I agree the "talking to the camera" jokes are lazy and hackey. Normally this show has has some great one liners but I could only count out one. It certainly doesn't help that in that particular department they got seriously schooled by "Glee" this week. Seriously, there was a whole year's worth in one episode alone. And is it just me, or did every single cast member on 30 Rock look bored?
-
Everything else was kinda subpar. The mafia thing was funny the first scene but got boring after a while. The main problem with The Office is that they've pretty much done everything with the main characters but they dont do much with the other characters... If you're not Michael, Jim, Pam, or Dwight, you get pretty much NO spotlight. And those characters are starting to get played out IMO... The transformation of Jim as the next Michael (an inept manager) could be interesting tho...
-
that jay leno thing at the end was plain shite for a lad like me, watching from the north of england. Can't Tim and Eric take over 30 Rock? that would be great.
-
Fred Armisen and his crew brought a lot of funny to the show. My favorite people on the show are Nick Offerman and Aubrey Plaza though. That hernia plot was hilarious.
-
30 Rock is mildly amusing at best. Community is shaky but has potential. The Office has seen better days and is wearing thin.
-
Admit it.
-
skywalkers_family but his description is apt on how I felt about the 30 Rock series premiere as well.
-
Was the high point of 30 rock.
-
Sunny in Philly.
Friday nite, came in and watched the 4 NBC shows. P&R actually was the best of the bunch, followed by Office, 30 Rock and the goddawful Community. Don't understand why so many people here like this show, but I'll say it again - I got far more laughs out of Earl than I did Community. P&R is much better this season IMO. Office is jumping the shark with Pam & Jim's marriage - this season has been weak with the exception of the wedding ep. 30 Rock was dissapointing.
Sunny is still the best show on Thursday night.
