This DAYBREAKERS Poster Shows You A Place You Don't Wanna Be When The World Is Ruled By Vampires...
Merrick here...
A strikingly cool poster for DAYBREAKERS...easily one of the finest movie posters I recall seeing in some time...has debuted over at MTV.
You can jump to a larger version of it by clicking the teaser image presented here.

If you haven't seen this film's trailer, check it out HERE. I'm told the film is rather good; certainly looks to have promise.

When will this fuckin' vampire fad end???
-
Do you think that's blood you're drinking?
-
Box office gold!
-
Everybody's favorite sexy-time Jesus Willem Dafoe against the deadly beagle-master Sam Neill. What's not to like? (Actually not their first film together.)
-
Not JANUARY! The only Halloween movies ever come out are the shitty sequels to Saw... Shit, even Halloween came out in FUCKING AUGUST?!
-
Answer: Daybreakers <br><br> Question: What would "The Matrix" have looked like if conceived and written by a struggling Red Cross blood technician? <br><br> How many points does that earn?

Okay, so they've ripped off...
by FlurryOfChocolateGlazedKrispyKremeDonuts
... Both Blade: Trinity AND The Matrix. Great. Guess that big Hollywood sign out in L.A. means "No originality need apply."
-
...I nominate you for best TB name of the week! That's some fucked up shit there, son.
-
I guess there's been worse ideas. Intriguing to say the least. Vamps harvesting humans. Joss Whedon actually played out this idea in an episode of Buffy, the one with Vamp Willow in it.
-
hope it does not disappoint.
-
Reminds me of the Matrix pods, combined with the "blood" warehouses of Blade 2.
-
It looks like "Flurry" beat me to that. Damn...Anyway, it is what it is. Rip off!
-
I'll go see it.
-
Ethan and Dafoe are gonna own this. Both look Vampirish and both kick ass!!!! http://sickpicks.blogspot.com/
-
This concept (DayBreakers) was kind of touched on in the deleted scenes/alternate ending of the first BLADE.
-
how could you run out of humans? just use in-vitro and keep making more and more, right?<p>and look at Hawke's stats for Sci-Fi...Gattaca, The Explorers, and this. all good things.
-
The trailers are just an utter joke.
-
I almost don't want to tell them that someone already made THE MATRIX. Cuz you know that's just gonna break their hearts when they find out.
-
If not mildly.
-
And I just recently fell in love with CORALINE so I may see new moon cuz of her. Otherwise I wouldn't care; but this fliq is usually how I like vampires: dominant and badass.
-
Why is JettL's name omitted from the credits?
-
You get Daybreakers.
-
Actually I took the name from a character (Gungen sith Lord) deleted from the original draft of the Phantom Menace script.
-
My trailer-radar tells me this one will be pretty good.
-
Right on, bud.
-
The last REAL Vampire movie made.
-
But how can you have sex with a film?
-
It's a motorcycle! No, it's a Cylon base ship, no, it's Kamino from Attack of the Clones.
-
And who sings it? It's pretty good. Sounds like Placebo. Is it?
-
By Kate Bush, remake performed by Placebo.
-
Dear Hollywood - stop putting a date on your "future." Seriously, please stop.

Let me guess: evil, rich WHITE capitalist vampires...multicultur
by ravenloff
...anyone done with this particular meme yet?
-
/on talkback newbishness... My point was all the badguys in the trailer appear to be from Spike Lee's closet of evil white people. If the cookie-cutter holds, the heroic humans will be a den of multicultural/multiethnic delight...yawn.
-
Actually, I think this is a great idea. Great ideas always resound with the echoes of other great ones. We'll see how the execution went. But I, too, like what I've seen from the Spierigs so far. Also, just so we're clear, the harvesting of humans by vampires is not by any stretch a new idea. But I like the look of the trailer so far. Looks like the film's got a kind of giddy kinetic energy to it. We'll see...
-
Last time I looked, the friggin big banks and insurance corps and Haliburton and Wall Street and Big Pharma are all run by...EVIL, RICH, WHITE CAPITALISTS. In this country, at least.

It's not a 'great' idea it's just logical when you think about
by mutombo
just like zombies films. I don't understand how there can be HORDES of MILLIONS of zombies in every film when zombies EAT PEOPLE. You always see them totally ripping humans apart, but yet they manage to pull themselves together so that they can become a zombie... it's a giant plot hole that exists in every zombiestory. Zombies eat brains. Zombies can only exist if their brain is intact. Q: How can there be so many zombies? <p> A: Ooh look a hole, let's go inside and see what's there.... nothing.... NOTHING
-
"Zombies eat brains. Zombies can only exist if their brain is intact. Q: How can there be so many zombies? "<p> That may explain why, in real life, we haven't yet fallen prey to the zombie horde.
-
Science fiction movies always seem to ruin their own potential by setting "changed-world" scenarios far too close in the near future. </P> <P>Let me tell you something, instead of vampires ruling the world, in real life in 2019 people will still be watching American Idol, Madonna will still be making increasingly desperate "sexy" pop videos, and a lot of fat middle-aged men will still be typing on the Aint It Cool News forum.
-
to bad they put in forward slashes / those things just reveal the cheap / hey i don't want to be harsh / good luck / but the title / daybreakers / also reveals the cheap / seriosuly tho / good luck / i will be seeing it / but i think i know what im in for /
-
you nailed it

Yeah, that looks like architecture from 10 yr from now
by DoctorZoidberg
We can easily make millions of bodies sit like that forever...OH and all the bodies will look identical. In 10 years, everyone will be the same height, weight, race.

Only emo fags and fantasy-loving tossers like vampires
by DoctorZoidberg
-
I've always had a soft spot for Vampire movies...The trailer looks good and the poster and the concept.
-
...They need to steer clear of invoking too much 'Matrix' in the artwork, or the audience will expect a Matrix clone and make unnecessary comparisons - they'll be dissapointed when it's not the Matrix.
-
Granted we don't really "know" anything from just a promo poster... But surely you can see the obvious reference to the unconscious "Matrix" humans being used to "power" a non-human race. <br><br> I think there's an obvious difference between being influenced by an earlier work and being a shallow derivative of an earlier work.
-
Though the film itself looks bloody great, this poster is indeed a 'shallow derivative.
-
They should have given it a rest after the highpoint ‘Let the right one in’. Well, this might be good but you can hardly call it original. I guess nobody in Hollywood knows the meaning of the word ‘overkill’.
-
They finally put vampires in the Matrix. But where are the werewolves?
-
I mean seriously, looks at this poster. The first thing we all thought was Vampire Matrix.
-
I'll assume that my observation will be addressed in the movie itself, but, just from the trailer, if they really are down to the last drop, the vamps REALLY need to tone-down the high-tech Matrix feeding-pods and concentrate on building some breeding pens for their human cattle instead. Problem solved!
-
I guess I had Miramax on my mind.
-
the ol 70's "body stockpile" shot, only now they are stored vertically and not on slabs in a warehouse. But hey, I'll forgive if Dafoe kicks major vein drain boo-tay.
-
their species would live forever....well, if they could survive off "blood gravy". Blood type = "AB-ig Mac"
-
another vampire movie
-
Mild expectations and the desire for escapist entertainment should make this film enjoyable. <p> Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, and Sam Neill - what's not to like?
-
then again, I also seen those "Body banks" in Blade as well.Nothing original nor inspired.<p>Pass
-
Coma was my first thought as well. The cover of the book used to creep me out as a kid.
-
Looks good.
-
elite in the upper caste of society while the "God children" were the lower class. I don't see the connection between the two movies other than Hawke.
-
those arguments up there make total sense but you also gotta take into consideration all the other people who die and turn. its not just everyone being attacked. even people who die from natural causes or some totally unrelated cause will also come back as a zombie. so factor all the "accidental" deaths along with the ones related to the zombies and its easy to see how they can grow so big and so fast.
-
For JettL!!!!!!!!!!!<p>I like the trailer just fine.
-
I saw the trailer before Zombieland and all I could think was 'why is everything so blue?' Every scene is painted blue. Even fire was muted to look less orange. I think it's pretty excessive.
-
...cuz the trailer makes the movie look good, and I'm a sucker for any sci-fi/fantasy that features Ethan Hawke.<p> I won't make the very obvious Matrix comparisons in that poster since they're, well, obvious.<p> *** On another note DEAD SNOW is playing tonight and tomorrow at the Mayfair Theatre in Ottawa, Canada!!! ***<p> So excited...
-
You said, "Last time I looked, the friggin big banks and insurance corps and Haliburton and Wall Street and Big Pharma are all run by...EVIL, RICH, WHITE CAPITALISTS. In this country, at least." Looks like you need to expand your horizons a bit. First, saying all rich white capitalists are evil is exactly as ignorant as saying all poor black socialists are evil. Fundamental fail. Second, even if your statement were true (its not), I could easily say that the evil rich capitalists running contractor/investment/medical in Japan are all Japanese. Or that the evil rich capitalists in the middle east are all Arabic. Or that...you get my drift. Pinning your own geopolitical shortcomings on one specific group is every bit as ignorant as saying that another specific group or class is always heroic and noble.

Ravenloff: May I add to your post by pointing out . . .
by Royston Lodge
. . . that fears about Europe's financial system being controlled by one particular ethnic group (and even one particular family) had great political impact during the 1930s.<p> I'm just sayin'...
-
Crushingly unoriginal image. Didn't these guys see The Matrix? Or is it time for a remake of that already too?
-
Like the guy in "Daybreak"? Whoops, I guess that would be relive the same night over and over... and they wouldn't reLIVE it since they're undead. Shit.
-
While Fright Night was awesome. I think the last great Vampire movie was Let the Right One In...
-
It was called Underworld.
-
Most evil rich capitalists ARE white. Look up a list of the top 10 CEO's who have been tried and convicted in the last 10 years due to their being...EVIL RICH WHITE CAPITALISTS! They are 1. Rich. 2. White. 3. Capitalists. Tell me, hows many are black? Hispanic? Indian? Alaskan? Pacific Islanders? Eskimos? Asian? Women? How many are...white? Maybeye this movie about corportations selling out to vampires should have had a Mandan Indian tribal member as the bad guy-God knows they run alot of big corporations. Are all rich CEO people evil? No, but those that are-are mostly white. That may change soon, but this is the way that tune has been played for hundreds of years. Facts are Facts my friend, so basing the bad guy CEO of this movie on anyone other than a white dude would just seem phony in this day and age. Tommorrow...he'll probably be portrayed as a Chinese businessman. Power and Money corrupt, no matter who welds it.
-
Until captioning, I always thought the line went: "Some motherfuckers always tryin' to skate on Bill." I thought I was the only one, until a friend's girl asked me, "Is Blade's real name Bill?"
-
Sounds like the plot from the first and third Blade movie only with a bigger budget.
-
You need to read more carefully. You missed the point completely. That is, however, unless you think this movie is going to create a world in which on the US of A is ruled by Vampires, not the entire world. Do you likewise assume said vamipres are going to be racists as well as speciests? IE, do you think the vampires running the former USA will put the smackdown on the lowly black vampires living in the former New Orleans area? My original point harkened back to the original Matrix, in which there were good guys and bad guys of all stripes, but all the bad guys were ALL white. Tripe, pure and simple.
