The TOY STORY 3 - SLINKY Poster Exclusive is here!!!
Hey folks, Harry here with our exclusive TOY STORY 3 character poster. Disney sent these out to pretty much all of the online entertainment web folks with the idea of promoting tomorrow's big online launch of the Glorious Quicktime HD Tootsie Pop of a Trailer for TOY STORY 3 which is the first look at the actual film and not just something they whipped up promotionally separate from the film. But frankly, the best way to see this trailer is attached to TOY STORY 1 & 2 in 3D... which is in theaters right now.
I saw this double bill at FANTASTIC FEST, where we were lucky enough to have an early debut of this very special treatment. Now - like most of you people with a soul that loves toys, sunsets and fields of flowers... we love TOY STORY 1 & 2. But Pixar's process of rerendering the original 2 films in 3D... it was stunning. It made me completely rediscover the film. Intellectually I knew the story, the twists and the beat - but the 3D made me forget all of that and be rewowed by the films. You really do owe it to yourself to check them out theatrically - as they're not out there much longer. If they haven't left already.
This all brings me to the joy of talking about SLINKY here. My childhood dog was a weenie dog that I named Dr Demento. Yes, I was a fan of a certain radio show as a very small kid. Slinky has always reminded me of Dr. But click on the poster below and you'll see the original giant file where you can zoom in and see the incredible level of detail that Pixar has layered onto Slinky - the subtle wear and tear that would be upon a toy that has survived a rambunctious Andy. The scrapes and scruffs, the dirt and slight bit of damage. Its evident he was loved and played with. Can't wait to see this whole movie!

should be fun
-
Can't wait for it. And it should be fantastic in 3D. My icy heart has melted and I have fallen in love with Toy Story 2. These aren't my favorite Pixar films, but they are damn good.
-
Andy is an important part of the series. If the toys just completely forget about him half-an-hour in that will be lame.
-
in that manner. Rex needs to warn him to be careful!
-
but really? It is a kids movie and it is a poster. Aint It Cool? Not really.
-
that will be undoubtedly better than all of the shit we sat through this summer.
-
They're both fantastic. Pixar has the best track record of any studio going, and it was cool to see how it all started.
-
Putting the small character that's voice actor died and had to be replaced on the poster. I mean, Toy Story can totally survive without Jim "Earnest" Varney, but it seems odd bringing the character to the forefront now. Sorta like losing a minor band member, replacing them, and then releasing the next album focusing all around their contribution when nobody listened to the band for their occasional cellist.
-
So many movies lately gone unacounted for...
-
it also seems kinda a mild slap in the face to Varney do this now. Then again, maybe this is part of a series of character posters. Still, odd one to focus on.
-
but I straightened it! Funniest line from GB2
-
I'm convinced that, if animated features were rolled into the "Best Picture" category at the Academy Awards, Pixar would trump the flesh-and-blood hack-productions more often than not. They are funny, tragic, timeless, and, despite their artifice, seem more organic than much of the more traditional crap that fills the theaters.
As for the poster, the scuffs, etc. on the dog's body and feet are fantastic, but the eyes, tongue, and body wire are obviously CGI. It's a curious mix of photorealism and stylization. I find that odd--and I also find it strange that the tail wire has a more metallic texture than the body wire.
That said, I'm sure the wife and I will be seeing the flick. -
I'd like to say right now that this will most likely be the box office champ of 2010. Mark my words.
-
Anyone know? -
is complete. I'm ready...to die??
-
Fantastic movies. Just got out of the double feature today and it was a truly incredible use of 3D. Go immediately.
-
Joe Varney.
-
There has already beens three Toy Storys. I nos this because i nos everything. If you disagrees with me, you are the top cunts lip of a portugese whore! This poster is highly copied from a Portugese movie called '3' which cames out in 1948 about a Portugese dog that gots cut in half by a falling number.Jar Jar Abrams makes me mad! Grrrrr!
-
i agree with what he said
-
I really want this 3D fad to go away fast.

almost tear up when veiwing the first 1/2 of that trailer
by future help
but you know...having a 3 year old son adds to the emotion.
-
Slinky can be silent in the background for all I care.
-
i forgot how funny those movies are until I watched this teaser. Now I am looking forward to this movie. The Ebay line alone made me laugh out loud.
-
No one cares about your 'exclusive' poster FFS.
-
The trailer for Toy Story 3 started out sad and sweet with the video of Andy as a kid. But they lost me at the end with Spanish Buzz Lightyaer. I hope that gag goes away quickly.
-
You miserable fucks run to the talkback to spew shit about everything. Go back to jerking off Shrek you queers.
-
for like the 10th time. I really do love that movie more every time I see it..I might go see 1 & 2 in 3D sometime this week
-
It should be good......But they have alot to live up to..
-
Not digging this at all, too kiddy. http://sickpicks.blogspot.com/
-
Eventually everyone they know and love, will grow old and die, yet they always stay the same age. Throughout the centuries they will be adopted again and again and again, losing loved ones, until they long for the sweet end of death, that they can never have. Make that movie, Pixar!! :)

Once again, we in the UK get ripped off...
by kevin_costners_recycled_piss
No double bill for us, we get the original Toy Story in 3D now and then have to wait till fucking January for Toy Story 2.
Once again we Brits have to shell out twice for something that you guys don't, do they think we're made of money or something?
This is the exact reason I never went to see Grindhouse and I still havn't to this day (If I didn't see them seperately at the cinema then why do they think I'll buy them seperately on DVD?) I still can't believe they havn't released the 'Definitive Grindhouse DVD' yet. -
You're wrong. The 3d completely ruined the original films. Instead of getting to sit in the dark for 3 hours and enjoy two finely crafted pieces of art, I had to squint through the goddamn tinted bullshit 3d glasses, that not only darken EVERYTHING, but induce ass fucking headaches and have no regard for previous shot composition. I hope this 3D bullshit fad dies like it did the last two attempts.
-
a man without a sensahuma.
-
...and watch the grindhouse trailers on youtube inbetween. Or save some cash, and just by Planet Terror.
-
"Disney sent these out to pretty much all of the online entertainment web folks..."
Not so exclusive, hey Harry? -
"Up," unlike other recent 3D films, was raised higher so the glasses tint would bring it back down to normal.
-
i do. anyway whos replacing jim varney as the voice of slinky?
-
It's the principle of the thing.
-
well I'm sure you taught them a lesson! Sometimes you just gotta take what you can get.

I still can;t believe people are talking about Grindhouse
by lockesbrokenleg
It was awful, people.
-
i like it though
-
Not that impressed, and Toy Story 2 is one of my favourite films.
Nothing made me laugh, or even chuckle, and it felt "same-old" to me. -
I know I will probably regret this, but I am in the mood for a debate. So you want to back up that Grindhouse statement with reasons or are you just talking out your ass.
-
It wasn't really a "movie". The acting was bad. The plot, was there a plot? Just because it was low budget, doesn't mean it had to be bad. Was anyone really acting in it? Hell, I could go for hours.
-
3D makes movies LESS immersive. It is like looking thru one of those view-finder toys. Some flat image, slightly closer than the background does not constitute realism.
-
Well I agree that it wasn't A movie, it was TWO movies. But that's just nitpicking. Was there a plot? um yea... just about every movie has a plot, granted some are more well thought out than others but the majority of movies have some sort of plot. There are some acceptions to this rule, I recall Andy Warhol filming a young girl sleeping for two hours and calling it a film. That I agree had no real plot (but even this is debatable). none the less, you still did not give any real example, just general statements that could be made of any film you or I may dislike.
-
Then again, I am 3D-Man.
-
Shit I'm suddenly sad now. Jim passed away many years ago, Before Toy Story 2 I think (Sorry TS2 is the only Pixar flick I have not seen) Who voices the dog now? Does he sound just like Jim?
-
Roger Ebert shit there Lockes. You could be paid for bein' a douche.

Ernest movies.

FX'ed Scared Stupid were pretty good for kid flicks. I was young enough to enjoy those, but I'll admit that the others were not so good. He was pretty good in Wilder Napalm.
-
Isn't Roger Ebert the go to guy around here?
-
Nuke The Fridge beat you to all of em...sigh...but still a poster? Ain't that exclusive dude...(hey! new website name?)
-
I was also being.....sarcastic.

There was no TS3 trailer when I saw the double feature today
by nasty in the pasty
Just the usual teaser that we first saw with Up back in May. I thought it was suposed to be a 15-minute intermission, with the trailer, but my showing only had a 10 minute intermission without it.What a gyp. :(
-
I love him, regardless of his parasite affliction.
-
...and Spanish Buzz Lightyear is frigging HILARIOUS. Although seeing a college-age Andy makes me feel very, VERY old (I wonder if they kept the same voice actor?).
-
don't go to the movies and let the rest of us enjoy it...and maybe put one of your eyes out so you aren't bored by it during your daily travels out there in the 3-D real world. Thank-you.

Amen brother. I'm beginning to think that the 3D haters are like these baseball purist assholes who think that Babe Ruth could stack up against Jeter and A-Rod. The game is changing, people.
-
You might say it got leaked online early. I've been watching it all day. Young Andy from 1995 Toy Story looks different in Toy Story 3. Anyway, here it is at movie-list.com http://tinyurl.com/lucd5h

the last of the great storytellers. this is sure ot be great
-
Professor Nazi.
-
because I can watch a movie all fine and dandy without some fucking gimmick falsely pushing itself into my face. Fuck that. The story and voice work should do its own job without some fucking glasses.
-
Larry the Cable Guy?
:( -
I'm sold!

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NO!!! LARRY THE CABLE GUY?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
by supercowbell5thecowbellhasspoken
..........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
just saw the trailer! pants meet jizz!
-
Spanish Buzz Lightyear playa to the Latino audience and nothing else. It'a a crime that even Pixar has fallen into the trap of trying to please what can accurately be called "The Illegal Audience." Sorry, guys. FAIL!
-
its like u could reach right in and grab it lol
-
Yeah, Report, it really does.
-
Cartoon teaser poster gets comments. Awesome. We all have nothing better to do.
-
but is a third movie really necessary? what ever happened to incredibles 2?
-
Why are TS 1 and 2 a double bill in the states but seem to be getting separate re-releases in the UK? Fuck Disney, those shameless shylock bastards.
-
...for some reason the 3D effect disappears for me after like 10 minutes, unless I look away from the film (like at the edge of the screen). And as for the guy who says Toy Story in 3D was dark and gave him headaches, I'd bet money he didn't watch it at all, because those are common complaints by people who hate 3D movies and don't watch them. Modern digital 3D does not give people headaches at all, unless the movie is constantly coming out of the screen to an extreme extent, straining the eyes - something which neither Toy Story 1&2 nor Up ever did at all: they sink into the screen. And Pixar pumps up the brightness a bit for their 3D flicks to compensate for the slightly darker glasses - it looked perfectly bright to me, and I saw Up both in 3D and 2D, and the 3D version *was* brighter than the 2D one when looking without the glasses.
-
I've always loved the Toy Story movies but seeing them again all blown up huge and 3D really made me fall in love all over again. These movies are so warm and funny and truthful. The perfect mix of kinetic energy, humor and pathos. I think Toy Story 2 is still Pixar's best.
-
I was worried about Toy Story being too dark but was pleasantly surprised they've brightened it to compensate for the glasses.
Thrilled to see they'd done the same for Up which I saw in 3D on saturday.
Other studios take note!!!! -
THEN I will be impressed. Until then I think it is lame.
-
3D is a gimmick. It is like going to Disney World and watching their little movies where things tickle your feet, air blows on you, and smells pump into the room. Fun yes, but a gimmick. IMAX is much more immersive than the flat-pop-out-floating-6-inches-in front of your face shit.
-
Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up - these guys are one bunch that don't rely on sequels or adaptations. Of course, I'm sure this will be really special, but I'd really rather see something new.
-
I find 3D to be a lot less "gimmicky" when it's retroactively applied to films like it was in Toy Story's case, and in Nightmare Before Christmas last year. There's no obvious feeling of "Well, they just did that shot because it would really use the 3D effect." Hell, one of the trailers before Toy Story 1 & 2 was for the new A Christmas Carol movie, and just in the trailer there were 3 or 4 of those 3D "money shots" and it was obnoxious. Also, it had Jim Carrey, which was also obnoxious.

yes, this looks goodm but will it beat This is It?

Inquiring minds want to know!
-
Why is everyone so obsessed over this? Is it REALLY that terrible to wear a pair of glasses for 90 minutes? Hell, I have to fit the 3D glasses over my REGULAR glasses (I'm blind as a bat without them), and you don't hear ME frigging complaining.
-
.sigh...this and the Bryan Singer "news"....AICN needs to try harder or just be content with posting less headlines
-
Hopefully the replacement does a good mimic job.
-
I hope that he does a great job, of voicing Slinky, whoever the actor is.
