‘It Is Really Special!!’ Thursday Brings The Big Hour Wedding Episode of NBC's THE OFFICE!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
The big wedding “Office,” written by Greg Daniels and Mindy Kaling, airs tonight. Will it make up for last week’s inert installment about who gets the salary increases? Six scenes to help you judge:
Tonight:
6.4/5 “Niagara”
The Office travels to Niagara Falls to celebrate Jim and Pam’s wedding under strict orders not to mention Pam’s pregnancy. Michael, Dwight, and Andy all want to hook up with guests at the wedding and Michael and Dwight meet twins.
Next week:
6.6 “Mafia”
Michael meets with an insurance salesman who visits the office and is later convinced by Dwight and Andy that he is part of the Mafia. Erin accidentally ruins Pam’s painting.
Oct. 22:
6.7 “The Lover”
Michael shocks Jim and Pam when he reveals the identity of the new woman he has been dating. Dwight apologizes to Jim for years of torment with a strange peace offering.
Oct. 29:
6.8 “Koi Pond”
It’s Halloween and the office plans a “Haunted House” for the children in the community. And at an important business meeting, Michael falls into a koi pond. Meanwhile, Pam and Andy go cold calling to drum up more sales.

I miss one hour Office episodes.
-
scenes from an episode that hasn't aired yet? not so much. these posts never used to have those, and even though they're making them available, I don't know, it just feels silly. it's like a preview for a show that's 23 minutes long, it doesn't make sense. no one is going to watch those, and decide NOT to watch the show. and people who are already going to watch the show, what's the point in spoiling a few funny moments for yourself? I just don't get it.
-
SNL, PARKS, community..one of these shows isn't gonna be on tonight..which oneunless NBC got wise and is bumping Leno?
-
I know it's off topic, but I'm hearing the show has been ganked by Fox execs. Anyone got any info either way?
-
until sweeps for the big wedding. The P&R/Comm. hour has been bumped up to 8PM.
-
Jim & Pam are the soul of the show. Now that their arc is coming to a conclusion, the show should go one more season (Michael finally meets someone over the course of this season, gets married next) and then go away before they beat it to death. It has had a good run, but unless they are willing to really shake things up somehow, it is going to continue to get stale.
-
And last week's should be a prime example. It's not ALWAYS the case, but watching last week's episode was slightly painful. Kevin talking to Jim, and the talking heads about who they like better, were by far better than most of the scenes from last week's uncomfortable-without-being-funny episode. When the show first came out, I would say the BBC one was better. But after seasons 2 and 3, I decided that the American one had it's one unique charm and was extremely funny in its own right. However, perhaps Gervais was right to cut his short, and solely because of the character of Jim/Tim. Remember how much Jim hates his job? And how we used to pity him because he clearly was made for much bigger and better things? And now, since we need to have more seasons, and clearly need Jim around, he is perennially stuck in Scranton, and to make matters worse, we're starting like him less? This is unfortunate character development.
-
There is a fan campaign going on after last week's horrendous ratings, lots of articles about those ratings & some speculation that it might not return after the baseball hiatus on the 16th. They are still fliming the 7th ep. & they are going to see if Eliza's P/R blitz is going to cause an upswing. But yeah, this Friday's ep is probably very important to what they are going to do.

The SNL update thing got bumped. If I remember right, it only runs for a few episodes anyway. At least thats what they did last season
-
Are destined to be together.
-
I thought last week's episode was funny. I loved the dual offices, the (temporary?) newfound tension between Jim & Michael, and Dwight's constant attempts to start a coup.
-
All 3 of the eps so far have gone a long way toward making up for last season.
-
The hour longs that aren't season enders are usually weak. Last week was OK, the two other episodes though were damn good. I wonder if the wedding is actually going to happen. Also whats the deal with all the directors of this show getting movie gigs? Is it because Ramis works on the show all the time? Granted Lisence to Wed was one of the movies from a Office Director, but Ramis doesn't make good movies these days.

I really appreciate how much better 30 Rock makes Thurs nite
by 2for2true
While SNL Thursday and P&R have been better than expected, Office and Community have been just average. I actually got more laughs out of one episode of Earl than I have out of the entire season of Community thus far.
To date, the high point of Must See TV Thursday has definitely been Sunny in Philly - 3 great episodes that beat the pants off anything NBC has done this season. -
When exactly is 30 Rock, going to be coming back on the air, anyway?
-
Having the wedding in October because 30 Rock hasn't started yet is a terrible excuse. The show continues to go downhill and I imagine this will be no different. Every since Jim and Pam got together it's been so... unappealing.
-
to the UK version.
-
Respectfully, dude - fuck off. I really tire of snobs tossing that tired comment into every discussion of the Office. Very different tone between the two shows. No doubt, Gervais was great as were the other cast members, right down to Merchant's "don't have a go at the eyes" cameo. All the same, it was maudlin
and even a bit nasty on occasion (much like the Brits themselves) and a little of that goes a long way. I personally think Peep Show is a superior comedy, in part because they know when to lighten the mood a little.
-
Can't wait for tonight's episode but annoyed that they moved it to start off the night. They should put 30 Rock in that slot since 30 Rock has had 3 years to catch on and America just yawns at it.
-
Disrespectfully, dude - fuck off. Loved the UK version too, but fuck off.
-
So wait, Dwight and Andy convince the man that he is in the mafia? That doesn't make sense.
-
in the past, so I'm willing to give this episode an open mind. But yes, Community has been stealing the comedic thunder so far this season. And I am sold on Modern Family. Ed O'Neil is a deadpan genius.
-
Obvious troll is obvious.
-
they convince Michael that the guy is in the Mafia.
-
No insider knowledge on "what gets bumped?" For shame. Why don't you just make something up,.. I mean,.. call one of your industry contacts? ;)
-
nbc, please find some shows of quality to pair with the vastly superior "community" and "30 rock." gillian jacobs, by the way, is my new imaginary girlfriend. she also can be seen very topless in "choke," for those who are interested.

It's a really special event no one gives a shit about
by lockesbrokenleg
Cause we already saw it in the preview.
-
Hope so....can't wait.
-
Before the big wedding, remember Community's new time--keep the support so NBC will give it a full season! One of the best new comedies...
-
With the addition of 30 Rock next week, the line-up of Community, The Office, 30 Rock, and (change channel) Always Sunny is awesome...
-
cause it used to be the funniest show on tv by far and now its the 4th funniest show on nbc thursdays barely ahead of Leno.
-
I'm betting it's Pam's mom which would be hilarious.
-
jump the shark....I'm impressed.
-
Too late.Damn you Skimn.
-
right? And the cake falls over!!!
-
Like a previously unseen character visits them all in their flashbacks.
-
Thank Christ.
-
Jacob has been mentioned in Lost since season 2. Yes, we never saw him, but he has been mentioned.
-
Fuck Cheers, fuck Seinfeld, fuck Simpsons, and fuck YOU.
-
show its not as fun as it used to be
-
the more Ken Jeong and John Oliver the better.
-
"go kill john lennon again" even i laughed at that and im a huge beatles fan. john oliver is awesome.
-
like ten years older than the blond chick.
-
That's no surprise. They love to put the older funny guy with the younger woman. Despite progress in that direction, they're still constantly doing that in Hollywood. Look at "Couples Retreat", all the women are much younger except for the Favreau / Davis pairing.Oh, and I've decided Community isn't for me. Ken Jeong, supposedly funny, just seems obnoxious with all the yelling and anger...
-
Maybe, but no matter what happens, even if the show suffers, I'll always love these writers/producers for putting Jim and Pam together, and keeping them together. No stupid on again, off again crap.
-
...except that I find Ken Jeong obnoxiousness kind of hilarious.
-
...Parks & Rec.

love that guy

but this shows just how fucked-up NBC is. Showrunner John Wells let 'em have it with both barrels: "I'm disappointed that NBC no longer has the time periods available to support the kind of critically-acclaimed series that was for so many years, a hallmark of their success."
One more casualty of the network mortgaging their future on a comedian who's quickly becoming an act of the past. I'm talkin' to you, Mr. Chin-Head Leno. NBC raised the white flag on their season this afternoon, IMO. -
"NBC has axed Southland...I hear Trauma is next because of its ridiculouly excessive $3m pricetag an episode. (When I screened the show, I was rooting for the helicopter to kill off every character). My NBC insiders are letting Angela Bromstad off the hook, saying "she picked the best of shit" from Ben Silverman's failed development. "This is the last gift that keeps on giving from Ben Silverman." The insiders are even going so far as to give up on the rest of the primetime schedule for their network.
"There's nothing watchable the rest of the year." Even midseason and spring of 2010? "Nothing watchable the rest of the season," I'm told. "Maybe Jerry Seinfeld's The Marriage Ref will work, but he's not even in it. This is not a fun place to be right now. *And we committed to Jay Leno on the air for 2 years because he was worried we'd have an itchy trigger finger*. It's an embarrassment for all of us. Maybe he'll get fed up - he's not right now - and then we can renegotiate."
This is beyond sad. It's the destruction of a brand." -
although that's the only thing it really has going for it.
-
"NBC cancels "Southland"... but in a twist, viewers had already canceled NBC." Bu-fucking-urn!!
-
i hate that fucking autotuned bullshit song
-
It was alright- Creed is still the best character on the show... menacing fucker that he is. Now that they're married, can we move onto other topics on THE OFFICE?
-
And why do you guys care of McHale is 10 years older than Britta? She's not a kid, she looks like about 28. Nothing weird about that.
-
It is completely lifeless, dull, unfunny and coma-inducing. The people who find it funny and make a point of broadcasting so among social circles in an effort to appear sophisticated are, almost without exception, the most boring, socially awkward people in any given room. Just like the elitist prigs who think 30 Rock is actually a funny show. The wedding Office tonight was terrific and proof that the show has still got it in its sixth year.
-
Damn.... NBC didn't waste any time.
-
obviously doesn't understand these characters.
And I speak as one of the biggest detractors of The Office during seasons 4-5. This show looks to have resurrected itself. -
this is one of the most wity written shon on TV today, and this episode just proved that, every joke was spot on and the dancing this was hillarious, we all know its a lame video and seeing the characters imitating it is what made the thing funny, Dwight even did his best chris brown impersonation when he kicked that girl in the head
-
Are they going to get divorced next year?
-
im pretty sure i understand the characters dude. just because it was jim and pam's cheesy wedding doesn't mean i hated the episode. it was really good, prob one of the best hour long office episodes, in fact. But that fucking song i swear...
-
that was the point. They knew their friends would do something like that, because the office group would think it would be awesome and hip to do the song like on youtube. That's why jim and pam went to niagara falls and did the boat tour to have the wedding vows the way they wanted to.
I thought it was a great episode. I really dig the Jim/Pam relationship and think it's great they didn't mess it up and have them actually have a good relationship throughout the seasons. -
maybe the best office episode of all time, it felt like the office movie. they should have saved that for the series finale.
-
This was funny all the way through...every character had their moments! My favorites: "Andy's in my bed icing his balls" "I howl during sex" "We had to throw out your shoes because they smelled so bad" They were all funny, at their moments. This was better than most anything I have seen in a long, long time.
-
...it's too soon...i'm sorry...
-
All great tonight as far as I'm concerned.
-
A little too ridiculous with the dancing bits. But the fact that they bailed and married elsewhere was perfect.
-
Fucking awesome in this episode. The toupee, the tissue shoes, the fact they had to burn his old shoes, when he fell, him sticking his stinky ass feet in the ice dispenser... But the biggest laugh for me was Dwight kicking the sister in the head during the dance. Priceless.
-
It's incapable of being good with a comedy vacuum as the leading lady.
-
Much better than Pam.
-
Are they aware that the whole "captains performing marriages" thing is a myth? Good thing they had a real marriage afterwards, because unless that captain also happened to be a minister (or justice of the peace or whatever), then that marriage wouldn't stand.
-
did you write this one too?
-
I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to weddings. That having been said, y'all are assholes if you weren't touched by that ep Office. Granted, I've never seen that youtube video, but the last ten minutes were splendid television.
Yes, I said it. Fuck you very much.
Also, Community is coming together. Abed (sp?) is one of the most original characters on tv. -
I really enjoyed it, but I think that should have been the series finale. It would have been perfect in that sense. Everyone was funny and happy for a minute in time.
Do we really need to see the baby be born? Or Michael do his same old schtick for 4 more years? Or Dwight being weird? It would have been awesome to just kill it there. -
Yep, it would have been a perfect place to end it all. Best thing the British Office did was wrap it up.
-
Agreed on all accounts. It's makes the British version so legendary. It's consistency. People wanted more and yet, it came to the absolute perfect conclusion.
The Office is, at its core, about the Jim-Pam, Tim-Dawn relationship. Now would be the appropriate time to end it. -
Oct 09, 2009 1:11:14 AM CDT
i guess steve carell wants to leave after next season
by mrgreentheplant
when his contract is up. everyone else is obligated to 2 more after this current season. every "serialized" show should agree to an end point like Lost, i think. they should end after season 8. Community is the wave of the future (please Lord don't let it be cancelled)
-
this show is hitting the brilliant streak that the Office did in season 2. If this show gets canceled now I'll be devastated Everwood and Veronica Mars style.
-
I hate to say it, but the Pam and Jim story reached its climax w/ the kiss that ended Season 2 and now we're just seeing 80 episodes of falling action.
-
Love it or hate it, when was the last time you saw not only the actors, but THE CHARACTERS commit to a scene like that? Have a look at Stanley's face and Oscar's moves. Awesome.
-
That people have said it should be a series finale, that pops up whenever it's a major episode about Jim and Pam, but whether we like it or not the US version of the show is about Michael not them. It will probably end with a Michael/Holly wedding.
As to Carell having one less year on his contract than others, that just means he had a better agent. He hasn't resigned yet because he's waiting for them to give him a big check, that's how it works and why you always hear actors say they aren't sure if they are going to do another year or another sequel. If they pay him enough I'm sure Carell would do the show forever. -
that episode was crap. why couldn't the writers keep to the realism the show use to have. I'm a big office fan, but it is just too sitcomy and that wedding dancing scene was too cringeworthy.
-
As Pam's Dad! A tremendous stand-up comedian. And if you haven't seen his stand-up, he was one of the brownie guys in "Willow". *sigh* Just see his stand-up.
-
that Steve Carell doesn't do any commentaries any more. He did one for the first season dvd release, then nada.
-
Mental pics are adorable.
-
Prop him up in a corner, get him to read me the newspaper out loud...
-
Ever. He's well meaning. My dog is well meaning. Still shits on the carpet.
-
I heard the "torn scrotum" excuse...
-
just don't have the time, i did some work for the final season of OZ on HBO, but no script wrk, just set design. I honeslty am not a fan of the TV schedule, it's very draining
-
is the lady who played Fonzie's girlfriend on Happy Days. She had a daughter who became Carol Ann in Poltergeist.
I know too much sometimes. -
together so sweetly & heartwarmingly. Thank you, Kevin's hairpiece; you are a perfect match.
-
They could have cast Ponch and Jon as distant relatives. That Youtube video that inspired the end is one of the corniest things I've ever seen.
-
That should be worthwhile.
-
Didn't they do an episode where Pam's mom came to the office one time? This isn't the same woman who originally played Pam's mom. Oh yeah, gotta love the three wolves t-shirt
-
You are correct. And now I don't feel so alone. The Actress is Linda Purl, and she played Fonzie's girlfriend near the end of Happy Days. The child that played her daughter was in Poltergeist, and died of Reye's syndrome, informing everyone all at once to not give aspirin to kids with viral illness.
-
was more than Fonzie's gal. She was thought of as one of the better TV movie actresses of the 70's. She played a slow (i.e. retarded) girl in a TV film about her marrying another mentally retarded boy (I can't remember who played him but it was a star and a big deal at the time.)
-
Wasn't weird seeing him also in INDEPENDENCE DAY?
-
My pos Dvr wiped me out of the last scene on office. All i saw was Kevin walking down hall-way and then it cut out. What happened???
-
Oct 09, 2009 11:09:06 AM CDT
I can't believe people are still watching the office...
by coughlins laws
The Jim character has been neutered in my eyes ever since they let him "get the girl". It's the same thing with Chandler on Friends. He was the funniest character as the wise-cracking geek who could never get a chick. But as soon as he scores the Hot Chick, it just takes away his bite. He goes from lovable wisenheimer you root for to just a jerk... I don't think Jim is funny at all anymore. I hate the choices they've made from firing Jan, then writing her off the show, then inexplicably making The Temp Regional Manager, then firing him for embezzlement, then letting him come back to work at the office, then getting Jim and Pam together 3 seasons too soon, then getting them pregnant, then not allowing them any troubles or fights or anything. They're living happily ever after right in front of us and it's boring. Oh, plus I think it's stupid Pam's now a Salesperson...
-
Because frankly Jenna is 5 years older than her character and Jim finally winning a 40 year old Pam after a long series run is not a very happy ending.
-
Oct 09, 2009 11:27:32 AM CDT
Maybe so, but I just don't think having them get married
by coughlins laws
halfway through the show's shelflife was a particularly bright idea. Unfortunately, two people getting together and being happy after the entire set-up of the show was how they flirt with each other and the timing being off makes the show kind of boring, now. This show has nothing to do with the show that it was based on, now...
-
I don't know if its just NBC's new style of comedies, but all of their new shows (that make it) are always at their best during their second season. So hopefully Community gets picked up. Even Earl was at its best in season 2.
-
For someone who can't believes why anyone is still watching the office, you seem to be very up to date with whats going on?
-
and is the dad of the current James Kirk, Chris Pine. So in alta-universe Jim Halpert and James Kirk are stepbrothers. Kinda.
-
The guy who plays Kevin has permanently put that gross possibility in my head. I so called Michael hooking up with Pam's mom by the way.
-
Oct 09, 2009 12:38:49 PM CDT
I don't watch it but it's easy to read the synopses of
by coughlins laws
it. I stopped watching at the beginning of last year and caught half an episode this year. I was turned off by the whole Angela banging Dwight behind Andy's back storyline. To me it wasn't funny, it was just mean-spirited...
-
...Andy and the adorable (but still no Pam) Erin as the new couple. Don't you see that? And we don't all watch The Office for Jim & Pam, like all the chubby girls who treat the show the same way they treat Twilight. It's OK for them not to flirt or argue, really it is.
-
The Office was sweet and humorous (my favorite part was Creed eating noodles while all around him were puking), but week in and out Its Always Sunny is laugh out loud funny ....
-
really dude? its called sarcasm but hey what the hell whatever gets you trhough the day
-
Congratulations all around to those involved in making this the best "Office" episode in years. Now, I'm gonna watch it again....
-

"This show has nothing to do with the show that it was based on,
by captainaxis
You say that like it's a bad thing. The US Office is its own entity and it kills me that here we are in Season Six, and there are STILL knobs like you whining that it's nothing like the dreadfully boring UK Office. It's still funny and moving and very entertaining. I like that it's a show that cares about its characters rather than thrashing around for cheap humor like 30 Rock, Scrubs, and Community.
For those of you advocating for the end of The Office, what would you replace it with? I hope it carries on for years because without it, there's not much funny on TV. -
Most of you assume, even if a show is "about" a particular person or couple, that the series must end
with a wedding or a birth.
It is a cliche that - despite its own weddings and births - this show has consistently avoided. It's like some of you can't have "closure" unless you're handed the standard climax on a plate.
Not to say this show has handled everything perfectly. It has always been a bit of a cartoon, but this season has been really steady. Some of us loved this season's focus back in the office - yes, even the so-called "inert" episode from last week (love you Herc, but the glib asides accompanying most of your articles are usually pretty far off), which to me was funnier than watching some sort of pratfall or another obvious Kelly talking-head punchline.
This is much better than Season 5 so far, which stumbled majorly in the middle with its "Angela / Dwight / Andy" triangle and "pregnant Jan" storylines...
The wedding episode was a little saccharine, but this show has really only had two of them so far, and it's not like the show didn't earn it after so many years of undercutting emotion with idiocy. -
Well said, sir. Plus, I like Pam's boobies.
-
KNOW SHIT ABOUT WRITING.
-
This was easily the best episode since the Season 2 kiss finale. Really, really well done.
-
Will this be the last season for the office?
-
During sweeps week. It was hinted at in the Entertainment Weekly article.
Season ender should be Michael becoming the top man of the company. Tons of cash and a hot bitch at his side. Dwight takes the number 2 position. Pam and Jim... work somewhere else that they don't hate. -
I'm serious. It would be a bold and risky decision, but it's the only way to save the show before it becomes completely stale. Introduce new characters while phasing out Jim and Pam. After the baby, have them move completely. It's not that I don't like Jim and Pam, it's that the show has this problem with making its characters become more and more outrageous with each episode. Soon they will become so outrageous the show will suck. The subtlety in the humor is gradually disappearing. Compare season 6 with season 2, the characters act like lunatic versions of their former selves. The only way to save it is to bring in new characters and have them go through the process fresh from the begining.
-
this season is firing on MOST, if not all, cylinders. I really enjoyed the wedding ep. Not that anyone gives a fornicate.
-
Just because you are apparently not intelligent enought to get the British Office or 30 Rock for that matter, don't disparage those who are. Elitist enough for you?
-
Oh yeah... Mindy Kaling. Guess that explains everyone dancing over the shark to the tune of Chris Brown's "Forever." The show has lost what made it special in the first place. Now I feel like I need to be menstruating to watch it.
-
I bet you, that the captain of the maid of the mist (the boat at Niagra falls), considering how many peeps go to niagra to get married and/or on the honeymoon, IS licensed to perform marriages. Sure, it may not be that ALL captians everywhere are licensed, but if there was going to be ONE that would be (IRL), 10 bucks says he is the one.
-
like this show anymore. And you're right, the show doesn't have to be like the UK Office. However, I think Jim and Pam are incredibly boring together and the show tries to make you get excited whenever you hear "good" news about them. Well, to me you might as well watch As The World Turns. The show is supposed to be comedy. Please explain why these two are funny...
