if so, they're VERY current on this one. only other thing that popped in my head when I read the description was possibly some kind of Heath Ledger reference in this one.

that's what i was about to post myself. the first half of the season was the most disappointing south park run in a long time. granted, it was still better than 99% of the comedies on tv, but they weren't up to quality south park standards.

another sign he was unjustly accused. How can people be so sure he's guilty? Do they have some secret tape of Micheal Jackson butt raping Macaulay Culkin? Just because a person is obsessed with childhood doesn't mean they want sex from children. Do you think that lady with 15 cats is secretly having sex with them or maybe she just really likes cats.

You mean just because it was never proven that he did it? I mean, what assholes people can be, just because they don't agree with you, having nothing at all to do with the case or the investigations. If you can convict the man in your mind just by what you believe, others can acquit him for what they believe, too. That's about the only fairness you're gonna find in the world.

    Let Mr. Jefferson RIP

    by onezeroone

I do hope they don't beat a long dead horse [no pun intended] by riffing on MJ's death, unless they're going for his movie as the plot angle rather than just his death. If they do take on all those who died during the break, this episode isn't likely to be great start to final half of the season. I hope they just get it over with and move to better juicier topics.
And what does it tell about comedies on TV when weaker SP episodes/seasons are far better than rest on air.

...thought the first half was pretty good, by Southpark standards. The queef and promise ring episodes were pretty weak, but the Coon/Mysterion and gay fish episodes were solid and the other three all had good bits. For instance, in the Economy episode Kyle's A story was a little weak but Stan's B story with the margarita maker was pretty funny.

    by crow3711

I'm sorry, but imho, south park has come as close to sucking as a show can get the past two seasons. Nothing but lame, soggy pop-culture centered episodes. What happened to the boys getting into crazy and ridiculous adventures that had bits of commentary on real-life issues. Not a bunch of half-baked movie referenecs and stupid celebrity gossip commentary. Every. Single Episode. I love South Park, I always watch, but really...it has let me down so hard lately. I've hated the last two seasons. And I hate even more that people seem to think it is still as good, if not better, than it used to be. That's insane. Some of must laugh at literally everything.

    by gettingbannedisfun

It will be filled with lame popculture references and/or a message that can be summarized with: "The world is crazy, so are we, why bother?"
Just like pretty much every episode after "Good Times with Weapons". South Park is just irrelevant these days and feels like another Seth McFarlane or Adult Swim* show.
*I don't mean Venture Bros. This one is great. Despite its habit of filling episodes with lame popculture jokes.

    by kaiser soze

hope they rip this show a new one...has anyone ever watched Ghost Hunters? I believe in the existance of ghosts and things we cannot explain, but that show is effin retarded, they never show any substantial proof and anytime they "hear " something, all the audience hears is a "chilling" screech of violins. I have yet to see anything from that show that's even remotely "real" seeming, most seems to be punchups for dramatic effect. Can't wait to see what South Park does with them. And yes, the first half of the season was wildly uneven. I dug on insane Mickey and the Jonas Bros., dug on Cartman the Pirate, and even laughed at the Queef sisters...but I really don't get the love for the Kanye West fish sticks. It's just not that funny to me (although I'd be surprised if Kanye didn't show up at some point in the next eight acting like an ass in the middle of someone's big day.

with the inevitable health care episode. Every time South Park deals with a social or political topic where Republicans are obviously on the losing end and indefensible (Katrina, global warming), they do a lot of soft-shoe bullshit and try to pretend it doesn't really matter. "Who cares! They're all the same, it's no big deal, we're all to blame lulz!!!11" It can still be a very funny show, but they're too chickenshit to own up to the very real problems of their political stance.

The Ghost Hunters bit had potential ("what was that?" noises bit could have gone somewhere), but I agree with the earlier post here- it's like they were making fun of a show they never watched. Jay and Grant are rarely scared or phased by anything, so the whole peeing-themselves-running-scared just came across as stupid. The possession bits and the arguing dead, as well as the chipotle discusson wasn't bad though.

They've prooved that they've got some Epcot ball sized balls. I truly think that they believe both sides are to blame (as they are). Either that or they just don't give a fuck.

Though I agree that Ghost Hunter bit felt off the mark, I disagree that it was off because they're never scared on their show. I think the point being made was that Jay and Grant don't really believe in ghosts, at least not enough to be truly scared of them. So when they run into "real" ghosts, they're out of their league. In other words, they look so brave on their show coz they no it is all gobbledygook.

    by cheyne_stoking_dms

is pure 100% bullshit. They collect a paycheck for telling you about the creekiness of your attic. Apparently, there's a Halloween episode where they have on audio a voice saying "You're not suppose to be hear." Pretty coincidental, eh?

    by shutupfanboy

That is the best reality show on Sci-fi right now and I would argue the best one on TV. Granted, there could be a lot of made-up bullshit, but damn Josh Gates is the most charasmatic hosts of all time. I will say last night's alien episode was very weird. Ghost Hunters has become very formulatic due to Jay and Grant getting producer credits. They were pretty outspoken they didn't like the show dealing with the drama in the group instead of the investigations. I have doubts about the show, but it has fallen off my interested viewing that it has become background music. South Park's worst episode was the 2004 election one or Mr.Garrison's vag.

    Take on the Ghost Hunte

    by tindog42

Have never watched an episode of 'Ghost Hunter', but have seen the promo spots that seem to pop up every two minuets on 'SyFy'. So from that perspective I felt they captured the tone perfectly. Every spot seem to feature someone shouting "What was THAT" or "Did you hear THAT" while looking like they were about to wet themselves.
I enjoyed the Billy May bits, he seems to haunt my TV. Even before his death.

    Pretty Good, But Not Great

    by _maltheus_

I laughed plenty, which is more than I can say for so many of the recent episodes. The funniest part was the judge catching that kiss and going from the smile to the eyes rolling back in his head. I lost my shit over that one. And it really did give me an appreciation for just how many celebrities died this season. I knew it was a bunch, but I wasn't really keeping count either. Poor masturbatory grasshoppher!

Was funny as shit. But one or two sight gags not really releated to the main story isn't that great. South Park is becoming more and more about sight gags then actually funny writing/plot.

    SHOULD HAVE BEEN "GHOST ADVENTURES"

    by uberman

GHOST ADVENTURES is the funniest paranormal show by far...and features the most gullible. Their characterization of GHOST HUNTERS Jason and Grant was way off-I've never ever remotely seen those guys act like that. But GHOST ADVENTURES? You could tell those guys that their dick was a dragon and they'd spray a fire extinguisher down their pants. Priceless.

Ghost Hunters parody was spot on

    by jacksparasites

Yes, from what I've seen in the Ghost Hunters show, they've never run out of the house screaming like in Scooby Doo characters, but they absolutely do pretend to freak out over every stupid thing. I remember catching an episode where one of the guys dropped his flashlight, CLEARLY dropped his flashlight, and then shouted "what was that?" while claiming something threw his flashlight across the room. Having them super frightened is just part of the joke. But they've clearly seen at least one episode of Ghost Hunters and every episode is exactly the same as every other episode. The entire show is just a lot of freaking out over mundane things and pretending those mundane things are the work of ghosts.

    by soup74

usually seems to be the weakest for me. I'm a South Park fan, so maybe im being too easy, but i agree with the people saying a weak south park is still one of the best things on T.V. This ep, wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. sometimes the nail social commentary, sometimes they dont. (this being one i felt was more of a throwaway, with a few funny jokes.) my favorite episodes are usually the more theatrical episodes and story arcs, and if you look at a list of the last 3 seasons they always put the event in the last half of the season. (go god go, pandemic, imaginationland)... I hope they live up to that this season.

    by chronicallydepressedlemming

..that wasn't just up to the mark at all. Some parts were great, but the Ghost Hunters thing was waaay off. If they'd ripped Most Haunted and done the exact same thing, I'd be clapping and laughing my arse off, but Ghost Hunters is very poe-faced and they debunk as much as they confirm and I've never seen the Ghost Hunters losing their shit, even when they hear stuff, tbh.
