I love how no topic is sacred on SP. Hopefully this ep will be better than the last few
-
There were too many weak episodes in the first half. Especially that final one with the pirates. Ugh...
-
if so, they're VERY current on this one. only other thing that popped in my head when I read the description was possibly some kind of Heath Ledger reference in this one.
-
that's what i was about to post myself. the first half of the season was the most disappointing south park run in a long time. granted, it was still better than 99% of the comedies on tv, but they weren't up to quality south park standards.
-
and being that the first half of this season has been shit, I'm not expecting much.
-
that the crucifixion and gay fish episodes were fucking genius.
-
This was one of the best first halves ever. The Piracy one was genius. Cartman at his very best.
-
Too many people were willing to buy that bullshit about how he never touched kids. Just because he was never convicted in a court of law by a jury of his peers.
-
another sign he was unjustly accused. How can people be so sure he's guilty? Do they have some secret tape of Micheal Jackson butt raping Macaulay Culkin? Just because a person is obsessed with childhood doesn't mean they want sex from children. Do you think that lady with 15 cats is secretly having sex with them or maybe she just really likes cats.
-
Awesome awesome news!
-
and yes, shes banging the cats.
MEEEEEEEEEEEEEERWWWWWWWW -
You mean just because it was never proven that he did it? I mean, what assholes people can be, just because they don't agree with you, having nothing at all to do with the case or the investigations. If you can convict the man in your mind just by what you believe, others can acquit him for what they believe, too. That's about the only fairness you're gonna find in the world.
-
I do hope they don't beat a long dead horse [no pun intended] by riffing on MJ's death, unless they're going for his movie as the plot angle rather than just his death. If they do take on all those who died during the break, this episode isn't likely to be great start to final half of the season. I hope they just get it over with and move to better juicier topics.
And what does it tell about comedies on TV when weaker SP episodes/seasons are far better than rest on air. -
I can't wait
-
...thought the first half was pretty good, by Southpark standards. The queef and promise ring episodes were pretty weak, but the Coon/Mysterion and gay fish episodes were solid and the other three all had good bits. For instance, in the Economy episode Kyle's A story was a little weak but Stan's B story with the margarita maker was pretty funny.
-
...even the promise ring episode had that great Mickey Mouse bit at the end. Nah, this season hasn't been bad so far.
-
...celebrity deaths recently, the scandalous circumstances of some of those deaths, and the intensely over the top coverage of a couple of them, an episode addressing this topic seems pretty predictable.
-
Clearly needs help identifying sarcasm.
Can anyone spare this guy a dime so he can buy a clue? -
Am I taking crazy pills? How can anyone call that a weak episode? Fatbeard is simply one of the all-time best episodes they've EVER done. Fact. And The Coon vs. Mysterion was pretty good (ending was a bit weak but most of the episode was great).
-

Here's hoping they do an episode on the Polanski arrest
by sirsmokesalot
and tear the Hollywood elite a new one for demanding his release.
-
BAYYYYBEEEEEE.
The promise ring episode was one of my favorites (especially hearing mickey cursing in the uncensored version). There were some misses this season, but in general, I've been very happy. Hope the 2nd -
chappelle's show nonwithstanding, the post-south park slot is always filled with utter crap. they keep shuffling new shows in at 10:30, each one destined to fail.
-
I'm sorry, but imho, south park has come as close to sucking as a show can get the past two seasons. Nothing but lame, soggy pop-culture centered episodes. What happened to the boys getting into crazy and ridiculous adventures that had bits of commentary on real-life issues. Not a bunch of half-baked movie referenecs and stupid celebrity gossip commentary. Every. Single Episode. I love South Park, I always watch, but really...it has let me down so hard lately. I've hated the last two seasons. And I hate even more that people seem to think it is still as good, if not better, than it used to be. That's insane. Some of must laugh at literally everything.
-
It will be filled with lame popculture references and/or a message that can be summarized with: "The world is crazy, so are we, why bother?"
Just like pretty much every episode after "Good Times with Weapons". South Park is just irrelevant these days and feels like another Seth McFarlane or Adult Swim* show.
*I don't mean Venture Bros. This one is great. Despite its habit of filling episodes with lame popculture jokes. -
I am glad that South Park, will back on the air. They will probally do a Roman Polanski centered episode, soon enough, I guess.
-
Are they gonna go there? Would it be a surprise? They joked about the Crocodile Hunter a week after he died.
-
please dont compare south park to any seth mcfarlane shit....
-
hope they rip this show a new one...has anyone ever watched Ghost Hunters? I believe in the existance of ghosts and things we cannot explain, but that show is effin retarded, they never show any substantial proof and anytime they "hear " something, all the audience hears is a "chilling" screech of violins. I have yet to see anything from that show that's even remotely "real" seeming, most seems to be punchups for dramatic effect. Can't wait to see what South Park does with them. And yes, the first half of the season was wildly uneven. I dug on insane Mickey and the Jonas Bros., dug on Cartman the Pirate, and even laughed at the Queef sisters...but I really don't get the love for the Kanye West fish sticks. It's just not that funny to me (although I'd be surprised if Kanye didn't show up at some point in the next eight acting like an ass in the middle of someone's big day.
-
Last time Blanket was neglected because "Mr. Jefferson" was too busy playing with kids and sleeping with Cartman. Now Blanket needs to be neglected while his family fights over "Mr. Jefferson's" money.
-
A good episode or two this second half of the season. I don't even remember most of the first half. Mickey Cussing, Watchmen/TDK rip...thats about it. I hope the Avatar spoof is good.
-
Chatman write the show for awhile? At least then it would at least be nutty.
-
They need to get away from just being a pop culture moment show, if they want to be that they should do more episodes.
-
michael is gonna pound his little ass!
-
Why exactly do you watch the show, then? Anybody who didn't laugh during the fishsticks episode must not laugh at anything.
-
He said that they wouldn't do a Michael Jackson, Mel Gibson, etc. episode again because they've already done one. There might be a cameo but don't expect much.
-
Yes, considering how badly they've gone after MJ, who accusations have so far gone unproven, it would seem strange to not go after Polanski, who has been found guilty of sex with a minor, and has definitive on the record evidence of child rape.
-
...only the Queef Sisters episode was weak, and even then it was still funnier than most shit on TV. In my opinion, the Crucifixion ep was one of the best episodes of any TV comedy - EVER. That "let he who is without sin cast the first stone"/"whoever has never bought something stupid huff the first squirrel" bit was just genius. I can't wait.

Do a Podcast? Where?
-
babyface mcgeezax... space gold
-
patrick swayze or ted kennedy
-
was a great episode, if only for the moment where the car hit light speed.
-
Do you like fishsticks?
-
a toss up between the Oprah's vag one and Mr. Garrison's vag. Hmm, I guess when the show deals with vaginas it just doesn't work.
-
To see Mel Gibson shouting KAPLAH! again
-
...I just can't decide.
-
within the next couple of years I'm hoping they just end it with a movie sequel. I'd kill to see them on the big screen again.

Aw I thought me garrisons vag episode was a classic
by supercowbell5thecowbellhasspoken
Plenty of great moments in that one
-
When he hooks up with his teacher... classic.
-
trey and matt waited 10 years to do
a sixth sense parody? way to keep
up with the times guys maybe next week u can do a matrix parody -
with Guinea Pigs! The worst episode, would have to be the one with Towlie, on Oprah's show.
-
Stone was Bill Simmons' podcast about a week ago. If you don't know Simmons is a writer for espn.com who also puts out a bunch of podcasts. And ya he said once they do a subject they never come back to it. So it's real unlikely that Jackson comes back.
-
I smell a Patrick Swayze cameo. Thank God for this show!
-
they did spielberg and lucas twice once was that raiders spoof and last year they did an episode where they rape indiana jones
-
Thinking it won't be.
Although Gay Fish was awesome. -
He also said he immediately forgets what they just did, so maybe that statement carries little weight.
-
Or was he on one episode then ripped in team america? Been awhile since I saw that movie.
-
would anybody give a shit? These guys are the kings of all douchebags.
-
and hope that someone would make a good joke about it.
-
but i really hope they return to Imaginationland at some point.
-
i thought i 6 month break would mean a new season...
-
Bigger, Longer and Uncut.
-
the voice of the gay dog in Big Al's first episode if I remember correctly.
-
This is so fucking awesome. Chipoltaway. Billy Mays. Ghost Hunters shitting themselves. Awesome
-
the fact that you hate/can't stand Matt and Trey tells me and most everyone else here that you have to be, without qualification, the biggest fucking pretentious uppity stuffed-shirt dipshit retard ahole the world has ever seen. Period. You're probably the kind of bohemian dickhead that smells his own farts, drives a hybrid, eats only vegetarian, enrolls his kid in prep school, and only watches PBS and listens to NPR. Fuck off.
-
Inevitable Jacko gags were OK, especially the possession, but the Billy Mays/Chipotle thing got old real fast.
-
...but the Ghost Hunters thing fell flat for me, mostly because the real Ghost Hunters so rarely seem scared. It's like they were making fun of a show they've never watched. Still, Chipotlaway goes in the SP pantheon for sure.
-
when you've been waiting a couple months now for new south park, an episode like this to kick things off is a biiiiig letdown...few funny moments but overall just kind of dull
-
I smiled quite a few times. The inevitable first reveal of Carradine in the closet was funny enough. I do love the MJ sounds of "Ooo-oo" and the other weird sounds they have used in the past. That's about it I guess.
-
as of tonight, liam neeson isn't hunting down only the albanians any more.
-
at the Carradine in the closet (though I did feel a little guilty laughing at it), at mIKEael jackson, and at the judge taking the girl's blown kiss and rubbing it on his no-no spot...wicked wrong but got a chuckle. that's. about. it. For the (mid)season opener, there should have been a lot more laughs.
-
and Ted Kennedy, and DJ AM, and even the oscar meyer guy, but who was the hispanic dude on the purgatory flight supposed to be?
-
Ricardo Montalbán?
-
KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!1
-
was in Smug Alert, surprised nobody mentioned that.
-
There was another hispanic guy, behind Farrah Fawcett and DJ AM I think...looked younger...was wondering about who he was?
-
Overall it felt like they wanted to cover a lot of different topics at once. The result is a bunch of humorous parodies, but nothing particularly great. I hope the rest of this season's episodes have more focus.
-
...but it was still a very nice tribute to all the celbrities who have died recently.
-
with the inevitable health care episode. Every time South Park deals with a social or political topic where Republicans are obviously on the losing end and indefensible (Katrina, global warming), they do a lot of soft-shoe bullshit and try to pretend it doesn't really matter. "Who cares! They're all the same, it's no big deal, we're all to blame lulz!!!11" It can still be a very funny show, but they're too chickenshit to own up to the very real problems of their political stance.

I'd like to be the first to welcome you to the gates of hell!!!
by supercowbell5thecowbellhasspoken
Great fuckin line!!! Sick of The massive coverage of Michael Jackson and the rest of the dead celebrities especially everyone acting like Michael Jackson was perfect!!!! and fuck you tmz!!!
-
The eding was kinda funny, but the Sixth Sense part felt outdated and dry. The Ghost Hunters bit had potential ("what was that?" noises bit could have gone somewhere), but I agree with the earlier post here- it's like they were making fun of a show they never watched. Jay and Grant are rarely scared or phased by anything, so the whole peeing-themselves-running-scared just came across as stupid. The possession bits and the arguing dead, as well as the chipotle discusson wasn't bad though.

by supercowbell5thecowbellhasspoken
You gotta be kidding me
-
They've prooved that they've got some Epcot ball sized balls. I truly think that they believe both sides are to blame (as they are). Either that or they just don't give a fuck.
-
Whatever
-
Though I agree that Ghost Hunter bit felt off the mark, I disagree that it was off because they're never scared on their show. I think the point being made was that Jay and Grant don't really believe in ghosts, at least not enough to be truly scared of them. So when they run into "real" ghosts, they're out of their league. In other words, they look so brave on their show coz they no it is all gobbledygook.
-
is pure 100% bullshit. They collect a paycheck for telling you about the creekiness of your attic. Apparently, there's a Halloween episode where they have on audio a voice saying "You're not suppose to be hear." Pretty coincidental, eh?
-
The POLTERGEIST lady reference. That was a little too dull. The rest was good, but they kind of lost me with that.
-
Don't be ignorant.
-

This half of South Park is off to a mediocre start...
by shut the fuck up donny
Let's hope The Venture Bros. season premier on the 18th fares better.
-
That is the best reality show on Sci-fi right now and I would argue the best one on TV. Granted, there could be a lot of made-up bullshit, but damn Josh Gates is the most charasmatic hosts of all time. I will say last night's alien episode was very weird. Ghost Hunters has become very formulatic due to Jay and Grant getting producer credits. They were pretty outspoken they didn't like the show dealing with the drama in the group instead of the investigations. I have doubts about the show, but it has fallen off my interested viewing that it has become background music. South Park's worst episode was the 2004 election one or Mr.Garrison's vag.
-
That's dependent on my knowing the ins and outs of "Ghost Hunters" probably needs to get away targeted satire.
-
Why would you eat something that made you crap blood?
-
Have never watched an episode of 'Ghost Hunter', but have seen the promo spots that seem to pop up every two minuets on 'SyFy'. So from that perspective I felt they captured the tone perfectly. Every spot seem to feature someone shouting "What was THAT" or "Did you hear THAT" while looking like they were about to wet themselves.
I enjoyed the Billy May bits, he seems to haunt my TV. Even before his death. -
The best parts were slamming the Ghost Hunters "The gayest fucking show on tv!" and them overreacting to everything, eventually pissing and shitting themselves in fear.
-
Pretty much sucks, let Vernon Chatman write the god damn show already!
-
The scene were Virgina Kiser from Poltergeist gets blown out the hospital window is classic.
-
the beauty pageant had beer flying out of my nose. That alone made the episode.
-
I laughed plenty, which is more than I can say for so many of the recent episodes. The funniest part was the judge catching that kiss and going from the smile to the eyes rolling back in his head. I lost my shit over that one. And it really did give me an appreciation for just how many celebrities died this season. I knew it was a bunch, but I wasn't really keeping count either. Poor masturbatory grasshoppher!
-
Was funny as shit. But one or two sight gags not really releated to the main story isn't that great. South Park is becoming more and more about sight gags then actually funny writing/plot.
-
Ghost Hunters, ass bleeding, those insane pre-school beauty pageants, the main theme is that Michael Jackson's unfulfilled wish in life was to be a white female child. Sounds like the usual South Park twisted shit to me.
-
Even after all this time still a great show and better than most of the comedy on tv, with the exception of Venture bros and Curb
-
GHOST ADVENTURES is the funniest paranormal show by far...and features the most gullible. Their characterization of GHOST HUNTERS Jason and Grant was way off-I've never ever remotely seen those guys act like that. But GHOST ADVENTURES? You could tell those guys that their dick was a dragon and they'd spray a fire extinguisher down their pants. Priceless.
-
from the Hardly Brothers.."I have a RAGING clue over here..."
-
Yes, from what I've seen in the Ghost Hunters show, they've never run out of the house screaming like in Scooby Doo characters, but they absolutely do pretend to freak out over every stupid thing. I remember catching an episode where one of the guys dropped his flashlight, CLEARLY dropped his flashlight, and then shouted "what was that?" while claiming something threw his flashlight across the room. Having them super frightened is just part of the joke. But they've clearly seen at least one episode of Ghost Hunters and every episode is exactly the same as every other episode. The entire show is just a lot of freaking out over mundane things and pretending those mundane things are the work of ghosts.
-
Secert Girlfriend?
-
despite the hot ladies. The moment my "onscreen bud" told me to "chillax", I "changed the channel".
-
Man, I hate when Mt. Dew sprays out of my nose onto my keyboard!
-
Seinfeld was always labelled "a show about nothing"... but I think Ghost Hunters holds that title now.
-
usually seems to be the weakest for me. I'm a South Park fan, so maybe im being too easy, but i agree with the people saying a weak south park is still one of the best things on T.V. This ep, wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. sometimes the nail social commentary, sometimes they dont. (this being one i felt was more of a throwaway, with a few funny jokes.) my favorite episodes are usually the more theatrical episodes and story arcs, and if you look at a list of the last 3 seasons they always put the event in the last half of the season. (go god go, pandemic, imaginationland)... I hope they live up to that this season.
-
Some funny stuff, but they really should have pushed it much further. "Shut the fuck up Billy Mays!" was defiantly the line of the show
-
Make Billy Mays go away! It's pretty much the gayest fucking thing on television. They all go to Hell. :)
-
Oct 09, 2009 11:11:10 AM CDT
I've enjoyed every southpark so far but..
by chronicallydepressedlemming
..that wasn't just up to the mark at all. Some parts were great, but the Ghost Hunters thing was waaay off. If they'd ripped Most Haunted and done the exact same thing, I'd be clapping and laughing my arse off, but Ghost Hunters is very poe-faced and they debunk as much as they confirm and I've never seen the Ghost Hunters losing their shit, even when they hear stuff, tbh.
-
I see he is like a consultant to the show....maybe they should try to write with him as well
-
did they cancel reno 911? that makes no sense whatsoever they put that stupid secret girlfriend on in its place
